INFJ Grip Experience In Fiction: Camille O’ Connell From The Originals

INFJ Grip Experience In Fiction: Camille O’ Connell From The Originals

After Cami becomes a vampire, she begins struggling with feelings of insecurity about her physical abilities to defend herself against more experienced vampires. Cami becomes hyperaware of her lower Se, and tries to overcompensate with the impulsive strategy to steal Klaus’s white oak. She doesn’t think through her plan as well as she normally does, and impulsively acts to get her dark objects back despite Vincent telling her it puts a target on her back. In the end, a witch steals the white oak, and Cami realizes what she did was wrong and goes back to her Ni being in charge.

In addition, Camille begins to see Klaus as a scapegoat after he takes away her dark objects, blaming him for her weaker connection to Se. She becomes cold, calculating and fearful that she won’t be able to protect herself from Aurora if she escapes, or from other, more experienced vampires. After Cami comes out of the grip of Se, she sees that what she did was wrong, and begins to use her functions in a more healthy way again.

Stranger Things: Jane Hopper: ISFJ 6w5

Myers Briggs: ISFJ

Si: Jane has a deep connection to her past. She idealizes her friends and holds on to them even when they are apart, wearing clothing she got from them in her new life in California, where she is struggling to make new friends. She does struggle with amnesia, but has a strong connection to what memories she has, like her memory of her mother, forming an idealized image of her mother in her head despite not having interacted with her more than once, showing signs of latching onto one of her only emotionally significant memories that she has.

Fe: Jane is very focused on helping those she cares about. She defends Mike and his friends any time they are in danger, even if it puts her at risk. I originally typed her as an ISFP, but she cares too much about fitting in when she goes to California to be Fi. She doesn’t seem to mind trying to change herself to be accepted, even lying to Mike about making friends to save face, which an Fi user would see as inauthentic. She is very selfless, which plenty of Fi doms are, but she always seems to be doing everything for others and not herself, save for when she seeks out her mother. She’s very outwardly emotional and not afraid to say what she feels most of the time. She wants to fit in very badly, and tries hard to get Angela to like her, something an Fi user wouldn’t do- they would see this as going against their individuality. She is different and unique, but not because she wants to individuate herself or stand out. She wants to be accepted, but lacks the social experience to do so, which does not necessarily indicate Fi.

Ti: Jane puts all others’ needs ahead of her own, like when she tells Mike she is doing well in Lenora Hills because she knows it will make him happy. She doesn’t realize the Ti ramifocations, like what would happen if caught in a lie when Mike notices contradictions in her story. That isn’t to say she isn’t smart. She learns fast for someone who has amnesia, having forgotten most of what she learned as a young child due to her trauma she had experienced at age eight. She takes in everything she learns, bringing it all into her worldview, relearning a lot of the things she lost.

Ne: Jane can be overly reliant on idealizing the past, to the point of overstimating her ability to adapt to new scenerios. In California she tries to start over, but struggles to adapt to a new environment. She doesn’t have experience socially, and struggles to fit in. This could lead to arguments that she is Fi due to struggling to learn social values, an Fe strength, but Jane’s situation on Stranger Things isn’t somethinh a normal Fe user would. Jane lacks experience in a normal social environment, which could cause even a high Fe user to struggle socially. Jane understands the emotions of others very well, she simply struggles with adapting to new environments, indicating low Ne, not the absence of Fe. Jane also seems very prepccupied with the past when she does her historical heroes project on Hopper at the beginning of season four, choosing to focus on an important memory instead of living in the present. She struggles to let go of her past life, which is why she wears the clothes from her friends to keep a reminder of happy memories with her in the present.

Enneagram: 6w5

Jane has a strong desire for security. She is loyal to her friends and will do anything to protect them because they offer her another kind of protection- they care about her and show her compassion that Dr. Brenner had deprived her of at Hawkins Lab. Jane is always there for her friends- she goes to great lengths to keep them safe because they make her feel a sense of belonging. She tries to fit in at Lenora Hills High because of this need to belong, and is devastated when she does not have friends besides Will because of her 6’s desire for security through friends. She always sought security through friendship, from when she first met Mike and his friends, looking for people to make her feel loved. In return for this love, she offers her own love and uses her abilities to stop threats from the Upside Down to her friends. She is self reliant like a 5 wing, giving her an independent streak along with a possible 8 fix in her tritype- she is prone to anger and openly expresses it when threatened, and is very reactive. She struggles with feeling different, which might be a 4 fix, especially because she is highly emotional and reactive.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes: Coriolanus Snow: INTJ 3w2

Myers Briggs: INTJ

Ni: Coriolanus is very intuitive about people and the world around him. He sees underlying patterns in the behavior of others that other people miss. He is a good strategist and an analytical thinker. He has a vision for his future and where his life is supposed to be headed.

Te: He is efficient and practical. He sees external structures as important and believes the world would be chaos without them. He believes in the Hunger Games because he believes they bring order to Panem and prevent another war from taking place. He is an analytical problem solver, and even kills Mayfair in order to preserve his future, seeing her death as a means that is justifiable by the end he desires. He is a creative problem solver and cheats to win the Games after he realizes that they intend to release the snakes in the arena.

Fi: Coriolanus feels a strong connection to Lucy Gray and Tigris. He pretends to like the other students at his school only to get ahead and holds few relationships close to his heart. He feels a strong connection to his mother, although he does not remember her too well.

Se: Coriolanus does not live in the present, but focuses primarily on the future. He acts best when he has a plan in mind, and is very future oriented. When his future is in jeopardy, he impulsively acts to achieve his vision, by cheating in the games and by killing Mayfair when she threatens to expose him for his meeting with the rebels. His Se is immature compared to his other functions, and he doesn’t use it very often.

Enneagram: 3w2

Coriolanus is very focused on becoming a success and restoring the Snow legacy. He cares only about being successful and will sacrifice anything in order to achieve his goals. Coriolanus is also very charming and knows how to make people like him in order to ensure his future as a success. He also shows his 2 wing by taking care of Lucy Gray. He brings her food before she goes into the arena to get her to like him, but also because he feels bad for her. He also makes sure that she’s doing okay.

Wednesday: Wednesday Addams: INTJ 5w4

Myers Briggs: INTJ

Ni: Wednesday processes everything around her through her intuition- she follows hunches about the case, like looking into the Gates family mansion, Crackstone’s Crypt, etc. Wednesday quickly sizes up everyone around her as soon as she meets them, often reading between the lines to poing out what they’re really thinking. She always prefers to follow a plan before leaping into action, but can be quite reckless when pursuing a lead if it will get her closer to the truth. She trusts her visions despite everyone else saying they’re unreliable, because she kust knows they’re true.

Te: Wednesday is often very blunt to those around her. She never sugarcoats her words when arguing a point to someone, instead stating the facts as she sees them. She is efficient and pragmatic, and distrusts her own emotions. Wednesday finds it hard to admit to herself she has feelings for (SPOILERS) Tyler, only acting on these feelings after trying to ignore them for much of the season. Wednesday is not hesitant to point out her intuitive conclusions once she’s reached them, often times being perplexed by the offense taken by others.

Fi: At the end of the day, however, Wednesday is capable of deep emotions, displaying a protective nature over Pugsley by trying to get him to toughen up after her father’s arrest. She goes to great lengths to prove her father’s inocence, despite not always expressing how deep her love is for her family. She cares a great deal about Enid, expressing protectiveness over her multiple times despite trying to present an unemotional façade.

Se: Wednesday can be impulsive at times, and this impulsivity often puts her and her friends at risk. She does better in the mental world as opposed to the physical, but is skilled at certain physical tasks she devotes herself to, such as fencing and archery. She doesn’t live in the present, instead living in her own mental world, turning every problem into a puzzle to solve.

Enneagram: 5w4

Wednesday is a teenage author and the protagonist of her three unpublished novels, Viper, mirrors how she views herself- a “girl detective” like Wednesday who is “smart, perceptive, chronically misunderstood.” This describes Wednesday perfectly. She views herself as smarter than those around her, able to make connections others miss due to her own unique form of intelligence. She feels like an outsider, a central theme of the show, because of how perceptive she is. She has a tendency to pull away from others, withdrawing into her own mind to solve her problems. She relies on her intellect for any puzzle she comes across.

The Hunger Games: Katniss Everdeen

Myers Briggs: ISTJ

Si: Katniss is very focused on the past. She has a detailed internal map of past memories she relies on and uses that to hunt for food in the wilderness, and later to survive the Hunger Games. She is good at recalling stories of her life down to the smallest detail. Her life experiences are very important to her and shape how she views everything in the world.

Te: Katniss is efficient and practical. She is resourceful while hunting and good at using reasoning to figure out what Haymitch wants, which is why she is able to survive the Hunger Games. Whenever Katniss comes across a problem, she uses her auxiliary Te to find the solution. She is good at thinking through problems, and figuring out the logical course of action whenever something doesn’t go as planned.

Fi: Katniss has a strong sense of right and wrong, despite wanting nothing to do with the revolution in the beginning. She goes from believing nothing will ever change to realizing that she needs to do what she can to help the people of Panem. Her Fi develops more as the trilogy progresses, causing her to stand up for what she believes in more and make a difference. Katniss also holds few people close to her heart, especially Prim. She is more focused on having meaningful connections with a few people than making people like her.

Ne: Katniss is focused on the way things already are, not what could be. She initially believes that Panem will just always be unjust, until Gale convinces her that she needs to step up and help the people of Panem. At this point, she begins to realize there is hope for the future, and becomes a catalyst for change.
