polybeasts but in the sense that they've always been all they've ever had, all they had in the tree was each other and grew incredibly codependent but yet they're still lonely because they don't trust each other enough to be vulnerable. nobody knows if they're still a couple anymore but nobody wants to try and say something because they're worried they'll lose everything if they bring it up. they're so important to each other and yet they constantly forget the others exist because they still feel so lonely
