So, India is dying.

Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.

If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.

A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.

There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.

There is no plan.

Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.

Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.

We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.

This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.

We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.

People are dying.

People are dying.

People are dying and there is no plan.

More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.

My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.

Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.

But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.

She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.

So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.

Deaderpool's Discord is On a Break

The depth of bad behavior from Simmers we've witnessed on this patch has made me ashamed of a LARGE portion of our community. 

Harrassing Lumpinou was just the beginning. 

Refusing to lift a finger to help yourselves, refusing to read ANYTHING we gave you to prepare for the patch either ahead of time, or after it landed, just made things worse. 

Burying our support channels in repeat demands for help from our volunteer staff without testing your patched game with no mods or custom content in was just one more nail in the coffin. 

But the thing that takes the cake, by far, was the abuse some of you heaped on people in the Sims After Dark discord, especially Meg. NO ONE deserves to be talked to the way she was, and especially not by entitled brats who don't want to read, who expect us to magically force their games into working, with no effort from them.

I was already upset about what happened to Lumpinou, so when SAD decided to take a well deserved break to decompress, Deaderpool's discord also closed. The epidemic of people STILL not reading continues, too. Several of us have received DMs since yesterday asking about what's going on, when it was CLEARLY laid out in the above announcement post, in which everyone was pinged. Please don't be that person, not now, and especially not after we re-open our servers, probably sometime Tuesday... depending on how SAD's relaunch goes.

People's behavior will determine how long we STAY open. If we immediately start seeing more of the same crap that led us to close for this break, we will take another one. Don't be the reason people can't have nice things. Behave like you have some common sense, and we will do our best to help you with your issues. 

Be aware we are not going to let ourselves be run over. Our tolerance for bad behavior as a whole has run out. We're much more likely to just ban troublemakers on the spot, and move on to the more cooperative people who genuinely appreciate our support.

The risks of Adfly, Shorte, etc

DISCLAIMER: I do not condone bullying in any shape of form of the creator in question / other creators (that use adlfy) / myself or anyone that responds to this post! All very immature/hateful/hurtful remarks that do not carry on to the conversation will be removed and depending on the severity (threatening someone, etc) of those remarks… I will block you as well. I made this video and post for anyone that uses Adfly/Short.e to shed some light on this returning discussion and most importantly; the alternatives. 

After very careful consideration of all the risks I'm taking by making this post I felt a bit obligated to the community, as a fellow creator that also monetizes her CC, to take a stand on this. I will accept any fall out regarding this post. before we continue I’d like to express my gratitude to a group of people who helped me out in lots of ways! <333 English is not my first language so their help has been highly appreciated! I could not silently stand by anymore while children, grown ups, friends… everyone actually risks to pay lots of money to save their PC’s from destruction for $0,02485 dollars. Per click. I did the math in the highest payout rate, USA. I made a short video to demonstrate what happened when I clicked on Adfly / short.e links. Best to be watched on Desktop / iPad / bigger screens than phone.

Important to know

I'm on an iMac. This makes it sooo much less bad for me than Windows Users. Also the only reason why I was able to do this without risking my computer. OS X pretty much has an build-in ironclad protection to files shown in the video. 

Most of the people in this community are on a PC which makes them so much more vulnerable to all the shit that auto downloads and in some cases installs itself, without you having any say in it, as you can see.

As you can see in the vid; I did not click on the files that started downloading themselves. Know that Windows users are even more at risk(!) since these files (virus exe) can start installing themselves on their own. I have to give my iMac a password to install ANY software. That’s why I wasn’t at risk during the demo’s.

I have to admit that the demo’s in the vid are DEFINITELY not worst case scenarios! Please be mindful of that! I freed up a lot of desktop space as you can see for the endless pop-up ads to appear which ‘unfortunately’ did not occur this time around. In lots cases I get lost in an endless loop of shortners (never arriving at the promised directory) or a massive amounts of pop ups open forcing me to close the shortner window altogether. I cannot even comprehend how much worse it is for Windows users!

Just don't click on the ads! Only stupid / too young / non tech-savvy /old people click on them. If you don’t click on them it’s OK. So it’s a non issue.

These are literal comments I’ve seen recently and in the past regarding this topic. THIS IS NOT TRUE! as you can see I did not click on ANY of the ads unless they required to be closed through the ad ‘close’ section to make sure the timer continues to run. Through the years of development for these ads; most of them require you to click ‘close’ (engage with them) before the countdown of Adfly/Short.e continues to run again. How am I supposed to get to your content if i can't click ‘close’ then?! 

Also; the extra tabs that open need to be closed first before the timer starts running again. And when you close them they can auto download a file you didn’t clicked on. In the past they were less aggressive I agree. You could “safely” wait out those 5 sec and get to the designated URL of the CC. In most cases this isn’t an option anymore.

Regarding this post: I’ve said everything I wanted to say about this topic. I will not engage in endless discussions in the comments. tbh I might not even engage at all since I don’t have anything more/new to say about this.

How the hell am I supposed to get something in return for all that hard work I put into my CC then ?!

It has come to my attention, and many other creators’ attention, that a website under the name SimsDom is posting external links to CC creator’s content under ad links (60 seconds), therefore, profiting off of our content without our permission. While the mods of the site plead this is not illegal, it does not excuse the fact that they are in violation of many users’ TOUs (and possibly copyright infringement as a whole), and actions such as these are incredibly upsetting and inexcusable.

Here are just a few pieces of unauthorized CC:

Notice that none of the content pictured indicates a creator name (unless specified in the original, stolen image). Only when you search for your URL specifically, your content will not be immediately shown.

And to expand upon the real issue, your CC posts are being monetized before a user visits your original post. (Even so, this isn’t always the case, either. Some posts on SimsDom link to the download itself, rather than the original post. So you may be missing out on notes or reblogs of your content. This method tends to vary) If someone were to download content on SimsDom, they’d either have to sit through a 60 second ad (while an adblocker is enabled) or become a member of the site to disable all ads, therefore speeding up the downloading/browsing process, much like TSR. (the only difference being that TSR creators/users upload the content themselves)

The price for membership ranges anywhere between ~$2 a month to ~$20 a year. All without creator permission! Not only are they taking advantage of creators, they are taking advantage of their users/members.

And to make matters worse, when a creator makes a request to have their content removed from the site, they are met with indifference and disrespect. A fellow content creator, @isjao, requested to have their content removed, this is how the conversation played out:

The message on the right can be translated to (as per Google Translate):

“Hello, isjao. Your request for site administration was passed on and we reviewed your request better. We have seen that you are a creator who really does not deserve any downloads coming from the SimsDomination. SimsDomination usually sends between 30% and 90% of the total downloads to a creator. If you want to be a creator of Tumblr, you will be. We’ve removed your creations and blocked future directions to your Tumblr and site. If we see indications of Tumblrs that have relogared their posts, as the link informed, we will remove as well. But keep in mind that you are not the only item creator in the world. It’s not we who depend on you and yes, you rely on disclosure to help you have more downloads. The indications for your items have been removed. We wish you a great week.”

And in a Tumblr post, SimsDom addressed the issue as well:

While I understand many CC creators use services such as Adfly (myself included), Patreon or receive donations through PayPal or Ko-Fi, this does not mean we shouldn’t have control over who is able to use our content for profit or forfeit the right to request it doesn’t. And when a simple request is made to have content removed, we shouldn’t be met with disrespect.

SimsDom is clearly violating our rights to our content, and they need to be held accountable. If possible, I urge you to get in contact with a site admin if you feel as though you are being treated unlawfully or disrespectfully. Be sure to notify fellow content creators if you see their content being used without their permission! And in the meantime, I, as well as others, will research a way to get this site removed.

It’s time we talk about SimsDom again.

Most of you probably already know who and what Simsdom is but for those that don’t, Simsdom (or SimsDomination) claim to essentially be a CC finds website, which in essence I suppose they are… But don’t get your hopes up for a Lana replacement because they are SO much more than that. And not in a good way.

I know this is an old subject, and most people probably thought it was all over and done with, but Simsdom is still around and what’s worse is that I’ve noticed a growing trend among my fellow Game Changers who create content for Youtuber and Twitch/Mixer of promoting the site by using it to do CC shopping haul videos and streams, which is encouraging their viewers to use Simsdom. I’m not going to name names or point fingers but it made me realise that maybe some people don’t understand just how bad Simsdom is for the community in general, but especially for the amazingly dedicated CC creators of Simblr. And it’s just so disappointing to see people that some many in the community, including myself, look up to promoting this garbage site!

annigo’s OMSP’s 1cm to 10cm

Hello!

Today I bring you the good old OMSP’s. Because I often realize how much I miss them in game. You may think that them are unnecessary, because you can move the objects up in height with the moveobjects-cheat (‘moo’) and because many creators provide their surfaces with a lot of slots. You’re right, but still I think it makes sense. How many times do I have a surface or whatever in game that doesn’t have the slots I would like. So it’s not up to me to edit them in S4S, because it’s not my creation. And in height you can adjust the objects in only 10cm steps. Then sometimes there is a gap between the object and the surface. Indeed there are a few OMSP’s, for example from Severinka or Kitcat Simporium but only for the classic surfaces and seating but not for every height. So I made 10 small OMSPs covering every centimeter, not Milimeter, that would lead too far. ^^  You can also adjust the height when the 'moo’ is active, so you can place almost any decoration for surfaces anywhere. Sometimes you don’t need to make a slot invisible if the object is larger and the slot is completely obscured by the surface. But you can make it invisible and visible again through the design tool, if you know exactly where it is. Here just are some examples…

But beware! If you plan to re-paint your walls after decorating with the Slots (OMSP’s), make sure that the moveobjects-cheat is disabled, otherwise EVERYTHING will end up in the family inventory. And even with the cheat off, the same thing happens when you place slots with objects on halfwalls. So do not wonder. It’s not my fault, it’s the game. As can be seen in the last two pictures, everything that is marked in yellow will disappear when papering…
