Dearest Rosie,

Dearest Rosie,

If you were miraculously gifted a supernatural power, what ability would you want?

Dearest anon,

I am not quite sure what supernatural power I would wish to have! The list is practically endless, and I have spent many hours sitting and imagining what I could do with a bit of magic in my life.

Due to my name, I have always felt quite a fondness for plant life. I think it would be quite the delight to be able to control the life and death of the plants around me. What ability would you want?

With fondness, Rosie

Haori, how do you feel after everything you've learned about Dr. Watson?

Dear Anon,

I must admit that I was entirely heartbroken when I learned of his death. I was angry and bitter and sad, knowing that a man who had taught me so much and been so kind to me had been killed. It was unfair!

And, regrettably, when Susato-chan came home, she told me all about what she had learned about him. That he had faked evidence, cooperated in a conspiracy to make an innocent man seem guilty... It was so much to deal with. I did not want to talk about it, but it was clear that my best friend needed someone to talk to about it with. So, I listened.

I've been thinking about our conversation for quite some time now. I think there may be a side to everyone's life that we would rather not know. It is hard to share every aspect of one's life, and to express your most shameful experiences. I do not know at heart what kind of man Dr. Watson was. What I do know is that he taught me great things and he was a good teacher. No matter what his character was, that will not change.

Signed, Haori Murasame

Can ghosts of dead characters interact with the living characters? 👻

Hello!

I think that ghost characters can interact with the living characters. I cannot say that the stuff within those conversations will remain canon, if that makes sense? For example, if Klimt tells Barok some information he didn't know before, he probably wouldn't be able to recall it, but I think if they've talked before he would be able to remember it again.

Maybe he'd remember it like a dream, or something? It's tough, because this is technically happening through letters, but I would like to see some interactions like that happen. The one thing is, if someone sends an ask from a character but it feels too out of character, I may not answer it.

I hope that makes sense! Signed, Mod of the Baskervilles

mr holmes, im sure you corresponded with dr mikotoba during your separation, so how did you hide that correspondence from iris? i cant imagine it was easy

My dear Ribbonroad,

It was indeed rather difficult to hide such a thing from such a precocious young lady. Fortunately for me, she is quite good at understanding my need for privacy! I did not lie to her per se, but she took to thinking that such things were secrets that could affect the outcome of various cases I was on. I simply indulged that belief of hers.

She did sometimes try to sneak a glance at our letters, but she knew better than to take them from my hands. She understood the need for my own privacy, as I gave her hers in turn. I know that Iris was intrigued by the contents of the letters mainly because she recognized the handwriting of my most dear partner.

Perhaps someday I shall share some snippets of our correspondences with her. Some, however, are a dearly private matter between the two of us.

mr holmes on a scale of 1-10 how babygirl is professor mikotoba

My dear Ribbon,

I'm afraid I don't quite know the definition of the term you're using. Yuujin is a very mature man, which I suppose would make him the opposite of a baby girl? Though your use of it as an adjective rather than a noun compels me.

Yuujin is a man with a great wealth of knowledge and experience. After we had parted for ten years, he came back with a significant amount of grey in his hair. He had a delightfully well trimmed moustache to match, as well... it took everything in me to focus on the astonishing importance of the case I was on, rather than admiring my partner.

I would give him a 10, regardless of his babygirl-ness. Sherlock Holmes

Hey Enoch… how do you feel about vinegar?

Anon.

Hey Enoch… How Do You Feel About Vinegar?

I have a wealth of feelings about vinegar, particularly a fine, distilled version of it... the beauty of a chemical that can be found in many a kitchen and has the power to cause such chaos... near nothing can match.

Hey Enoch… How Do You Feel About Vinegar?

I find it particularly useful when it comes to keeping my hand free of rust and grime, something that is quite necessary when you depend on such things to be able to do somewhat basic tasks.

Hey Enoch… How Do You Feel About Vinegar?

As for the taste, well. I eat whatever is given to me. When I was feeding myself, most items I created were rather bland or even burnt. Vinegar, however strong the taste, surely cannot be worse than that.

Signed, Enoch Drebber

P. S. - I have heard from Dobinbough that quite a few barrels of wine in the van Zieks cellar have turned into vinegar. We both find the situation to be quite comical.

Mod Update: brief hiatus!

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to take a brief hiatus from answering questions. You're absolutely still free to send them in, in fact, I encourage that! But I probably won't get around to answering them for another week or so. Sorry for the trouble!

Hi barok… aah how exactly did you dad die?!?

Anon.

Hi Barok… Aah How Exactly Did You Dad Die?!?

My father was a cruel, foolish man. He believed that he could conquer anything, and that included the great beasts of the plains of Africa. He kept such animals in his house without knowing what such "pets" would demand in terms of care. He and his servants were injured many times by the unruly beasts. He was eventually killed by his favorite of his pets, the snake. It was entirely preventable.

To Dr. Harebrayne,

Your transportation device thingy is impressive and all, but the real important question is:

can it run DOOM?

To zhorrot,

I don't know what you mean by this question, but I have been informed that Barok feels an immense sense of doom whenever he hears loud noises as I reconstruct my machine!

Despite the fact that I have quite expert help in the form of Enoch, Sherlock, and Iris, no science is without its own flaws, and bumps, scrapes, and minor blowings-up are rather common.

Thank you for your question! Albert Harebrayne
