When Itoshi Rin tells you he’s got a dentist appointment, you don’t question it.

Even when he’s gotten back a few hours later, you don’t question why he’s so quiet, thinking he’s in one of his sulky, brooding moods. Sometimes you see his lip twitch slightly, as if he wants to say something, stopping himself just short of opening his lips–before turning and abruptly walking away. 

You finally realise why later on when you ask him what he wants with his Ochazuke, the steaming ceramic bowl gently set on your marble table. Rin sits hunched on the couch, a pervious match of his playing on the big screen of your TV. He doesn’t look away from his notebook, devotedly scribbling into the paper as he absent–mindedly replies,

“Sthalmon.”

Theres silence.

You pause what you're doing, and you could see Rin's body immediately go stiff. 

He had a lisp. A heavy one at that.

It was only then you noticed the flicker of metal in his mouth, a dash of blue that matched his eyes. You blinked, watching him. “Rinnie, did you get your brac–”

“No.”

You giggled at his deadpan expression, his neck to the tip of his ears flushed red, almost as if he was expecting you to coo over him. Any more overly sweet comments from your lips and it’s ‘lukewarm’ this and ‘lukewarm’ that, whatever that means.
