The biggest misconception in public schools is that literary analysis is about proving you can be right or wrong about a book you read
Literary analysis isn’t about the book
It’s not even about being right
It’s about performing an investigation and presenting your case to the jury
It doesn’t matter if your defendant killed that guy or not. If you can convince the jury he didn’t, you’ve won
And the incredible life skill of spinning bulletproof bullshit out your ass with a handful of facts and a prayer is soooooooo much more valuable than anyone’s ever gonna tell you
being an extremely light sleeper who doesn't go to bed until 3-4 am so no matter where i live my roommates & friends say stuff like, "wake us up if the tornado sirens go off, "wake us up if the tsunami sirens go off," "wake us up if that bear comes back by camp,"
when people say these things i can't help but feel i'm satisfying my evolutionary purpose as night guard. it's just easier now than it would've been for me 10,000 years ago bc i have a flashlight and a weather app.

Crash Course by Complexly is a great resource of subject area specific YouTube videos: https://complexly.com/shows/crash-course/
and Khan Academy is another great resource of k-12+ educational videos and lessons in all subjects: https://www.khanacademy.org
also Autodesk Instructables has some great STEM lessons, but can be a bit confusing to navigate sometimes: https://www.instructables.com/teachers/
for K-12 Stem education Autodesk softwares are provided free to students, and Autodesk has a wide variety of tutorials on learning CAD https://www.autodesk.com/education/home
With Trump's talk of eliminating the US Department of Education, I want to compile a list of free and accessible materials for students, educators, and continuous learners.
Project Gutenburg has a library of over 70,000 free eBooks and audiobooks, with particular emphasis on those in the Public Domain.
The California Department of Education has compiled a list of Free Educational Resources that were originally meant for distance learning during Covid. I think these are primarily for grades K-12.
Library Finder is a free website that can point you in the direction of your closest local library. Libraries are an amazing resource for literacy programs, community outreach, computer access, and much more.
The University of San Diego has compiled a list of Top 24 Educational Resources for Teachers. Most of these are free, free with ads, or free with an account.
National Geographic has a list of Education Resources on their website. I highly encourage everyone to explore the website on their own time.
PBS has a bunch of different educational resources on their website that you can browse easily by subject and grade level.
Please add more resources if you come across them. This is by no means a comprehensive list.

It's 15th February, which is apparently World Hippo Day, so here's an excellent hippo I saw at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris last year. It was designed by François-Xavier Lalanne in 1968–1969, and is in fact a bathroom in disguise! Its body opens to become a bathtub and its head flips up to reveal a handbasin.
happy world hippo day to all who celebrate!!!!!
Hi People of Tumbler! World Hippopotamus Day, February 15th, is coming up soon, and I wanted to share this super dope holiday with you! I have been celebrating World Hippo Day since I was a kid, and it’s a day that’s a lot of things for a lot of people. Many who celebrate of use the day to learn about the majestic nature of nature’s best creature: the hippopotamus, and to others it's a day to advocate for hippos, or an anti-Valentine’s Day of sorts. To me, it is all of these things, and it is also a day to spread hippo joy. Every year I try to spend the day handing out tiny hippos to random people, and it seems to make them happy. I think that hippos would be happy to know that they make people happy.
This year, World Hippopotamus Day falls during a charity livestream fundraiser called the Project for Awesome (AKA the P4A) that is held by some really cool internet people like Hank and John Green. The P4A raises money for organizations like Save the Children and Partners in Health that work hard to decrease world suck, and just generally make the world a better place. Due to the US gov's pause in USAID, the global fight against preventable & treatable diseases like TB, HIV, & Malaria is suffering a huge setback and now more than ever Nonprofits dedicated to fighting these diseases need support. More info on the P4A and fighting global inequity can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBjQgizWRBA . If you are able to please look into donating to these wonderful causes or to the P4A, or spread awareness about them. It's what the hippos would want. Project for Awesome Website Link

The 18th (?!?!?) annual Project for Awesome starts today at noon eastern time, but we've already raised over $500,000 for charities like Save the Children and Partners in Health.
You can get some amazing perks this year, including the first few chapters of my next book, the annual podcast I make with Sarah where we read emails we wrote each other before we started dating, and lots more. Check it all out at http://projectforawesome.com/donate.

My favorite holiday is world hippo day, February 15th, which falls during the project for awesome this year. To celebrate world hippo day Ive been making some crafts that I thought some folks here might enjoy as well, and this is by far the most *abstract*. Attached are 8.5" x 11" patterns for print and assemble Crank Green Hippo Hats, which is simply put: Hank Green, as a crab, as a hippopotamus, as a Hat. There is a black and white coloring book version and a pre-colored version. For best results print on cardstock and assemble using staples, but tape and copy paper will also work! Happy World Hippo Day and P4A to all who celebrate, and keep up the good work of fighting to decrease world suck!
Attached are 8.5" x 11" patterns for printable Hugging Hippo Crafts, perfect for World Hippo Day on February 15th! There is a black and white coloring book version and a pre-colored version! When you fold the arms of the hippos in they can "hold" cool things like notes or candy. This year, 2025, World Hippopotamus Day falls during an event called the Project for Awesome. This event raises money for organizations that fight to do a lot of good in the world, like Save The Children and Partners in Health. If you are able, please look into the Project for Awesome, share, and consider donating. More information can be found @ www.projectforawesome.com or check my pinned post. Happy World Hippo Day to all who celebrate!
Attached are 8.5" x 11" patterns for print and assemble Beanie Sandfurbs Hippo Hats, to celibrate World Hippopotamus Day, February 15th and the Project for Awesome, February 14-16th! There is a black and white coloring book version and a pre-colored version. For best results print on cardstock and assemble using staples, but tape and copy paper will also work! This year, 2025, World Hippopotamus Day falls during the Project for Awesome. Happy World Hippo Day and P4A to all who celebrate, and keep up the good work of fighting to decrease world suck! I am deeply, deeply terrified of Beanie Sandfurbs, and this hat makes me question many of my life decisions. There are non bean versions posted on my blog as well, but why wear a non bean hat when you could wear a bean hat?

There’s certain hobbies and interests that aren’t inherently conservative or regressive but do attract a lot of people who are those things or worse and when you’re a progressive person involved in those hobbies hearing that someone else is interested in your hobby usually has to involve some “But are you normal about it?” conversations before you get too excited
