‘It’s A Quiet Starry Place’ is by far my favourite AU from all the dadneto fics I’ve written! It kills me that I haven’t been able to work on it lately because there is just so much to dig into with this concept, especially in regards to Luna! Like where do I even begin?

I knew from the start that Laura and Luna’s dynamic was going to be a core part of this story, and getting to explore the world through their eyes is as fascinating as it is challenging. Logan (the film not the character lol) did such a good job at showing Laura as this highly competent and dangerous mutant but also as an innocent, learning child. It’s an interesting balance, and trying to figure out what they do and don’t understand because of their upbringing is something I have to ask myself almost every moment while writing the fic (which is why it takes so long to write too XD).

And of course, it wouldn’t be one of my fics if dadneto and quickson wasn’t the star of the show! I think Luna’s POV provides one of the most interesting, layered and complex perspectives of Erik and Peter that I’m probably ever going to have to tackle in this AU. Not only does this installment hint to a lot of events that have happened in their past, but Luna’s introduction is one of the most contentious points in their whole relationship. It’s easy to see that Peter accepts her as his own daughter almost immediately, but there’s still so much guilt and shame there for not knowing and not being able to protect her that weighs on him. And when all Peter needs is support, Erik is too busy struggling with his own thoughts, because how could the humans have gotten their hands on their son’s DNA? How could a violation like that have happened without any of them knowing? Erik’s protectiveness over Peter blinds him to realising that Peter has willingly taken on the role as a father himself, and in response, Peter’s protectiveness over Luna bites back, putting them at odds. It’s such an interesting dynamic, and it’s the plotline I’m most looking forward to writing in the coming chapters (because they are coming, I promise- I PROMISE OKAY?!?!)!

Some other elements that I love to think about but don’t always get to touch on because it’s from Luna’s POV is how the other X-Men and Brotherhood members are feeling over having clone children, most of which died before even knowing they existed. Some are quick to consider them their child, like Avalanche and Jean, who clearly took it hard learning that their respective kids had died without ever getting to meet them. Others have more complicated feelings about it, like Sabretooth and Gambit, which we’ll get a glimpse of in the next chapter. Sabretooth especially is interesting I think, because given the chance, I think he would have tried to be a decent father, if only to say he was better at it than Logan hah. Since he never had that opportunity though, he finds it easier to pretend he never cared about his kid instead of admitting that he might be mad at himself for not saving them in time.

If any of you are wondering how much I’ve thought about this AU, there’s a 12 page document dedicated just to the timeline, and I also have a list of all 23 children in the X23 program and who they belonged to lol. So yes, this AU lives in my head rent free and refuses to get evicted hahah!

I suddenly wanted to draw horseman! Peter - something for a story where Apocalypse manipulates a depressed Peter, forcing Erik to desperately fight in order to get his son back. I'd like to see Peter being too afraid of becoming alone again, already responsible for mass destruction and further spiraling down into a darker path prompted by en sabah nur. Esp inspired by this fic by @fouralignments, was really fun to draw.

<Storyline behind the image>:

The storyline I had in mind when I drew this was this: Peter lived an isolated life until the events of Apocalypse, all alone and depressed. He did find Erik but felt betrayed that he started a new family, sad and jealous of Nina, watching the happy family from far away. At some point Peter loathes that he's born a mutant because he can't seem to fit in society or his human family, and blames Erik further. Anyways Apocalypse finds Peter and sees something different and unique in him, decides to recruit him. He gives special treatment and acts possesive and loving to Peter. Peter loves the attention and is finally happy and feels like he's worth something after years of grief. Even if Peter didn't start out as a horseman I thought he would volunteer to do the hard work because some people who grew up unloved can't handle unconditional love- they believe they have to prove that they deserve it.

So Peter feels debted and works for Apocalypse, causes destruction which makes Erik confront Peter to protect his new family. Peter gets furious that Erik came because of his new family and not for Peter, spills the beans and beats up a startled Erik. (Maybe the golden tear marks can emerge at this point)

His mother and sister terrified of him and having nothing left to lay back to, Peter spirals further down into an apathetic darker path and grows closer and closer to Apocalypse. But at some point he finally notices how much blood he covered his hands with and collapses, suddenly hollow and aimless, losing who he is and overwhelmed by what he's done (Which is why in the drawing Peter's arms are covered in blood). He's ashamed, sad, panicking and doesn't know what to do- he hides in a cloak and wanders around.

Meanwhile Erik and Apocalypse is desperate to find Peter first, fighting each other to lead Peter towards the 'right' path they respectively believe.

That's all I thought but to add one more- despite painful and hard, Peter taking agency and making his own path regardless of what his influencers want would be nice to see. Also want to see Peter healing his wounds and taking responsibility of what he's committed.

Imagine before they got together, Jim would some times kiss Spock on the cheek, as a way to flirt and deceleration of their friendship. But mostly, he just did it so he could watch Soock turn an adorable shade of green and bump into his science station scanner.

This continued until one day Sock marched straight up to the Captian’s chair, determination glinting behind his logical Vulcan mask. Before Jim could ask him what was up, Spock kissed, hot and hard right on the lips.

Jim fell out of his chiar.

Spock was insufferably smug about it all afternoon, and most likely would have continued to be so for the forseeable future, had Jim not fucked it out of his system that very night.

Headcanon time:

The reason Peter’s hair looks different in DoFP and Apocalpse, i.e:

dark grey:

vs a lighter grey:

Is because homeboy tried to dye his hair dark before DoFP.

He grew up always getting flack for his silver/grey hair and it was like a source of shame and embarrassment for him (and he wanted to look more like his sister and mother and feel more normal for once-). Dyeing it seemed like a sick idea until those greys started showing through real quick.

Anyways I will be utilising this headcanon whether its fitting or not bc nothing else justifies the state of that wig I mean come on they did my boy so dirty, I get it was the 70′s but-

I love dadneto (as we all do) but I think it's unrealistic that Magda (Peter's mum) would just willingly let Erik be around Peter and let him be a parent after abandoning her for 20 years.

I just need more fics where Magda confronts Erik and stands her ground on the fact that Peter is HER SON and Erik just happens to biologically be his father

A complexion study! I thought it’d be interesting to contemplate what the Aquatos would look like with a few varieties of realistic Romani skin colors and how the two might mingle to retain that goofy red/yellow/green and yellow/blue/brown color harmony from the games.

I’m absolutely not the first person to do this, but I can’t find the post that inspired me. It was Frazie and Mirtala with brown skin in pretty blue leotards, I think. If anyone can find it, plz link me.

(I also felt the need to sit and tweak Raz’s face a bit so he looks less like a Danny Phantom clone than in previous drawings.)
