when u wanna break up with your deadbeat husband but your god ships both of you to fulfill a prophecy that was forced upon you
I'll believe in anything if it means one more moment with you
Tawnycrow is just so funny to me
Byler nation scares me so bad bc what if we really are just fucking insane?? 😭 I'm so used to being queerbaited and being told "sometimes the curtains are just blue" like NO. THEY ARE BLUE AND YELLOW AND THE AMOUNT OF METAPHORS IS IMMEASURABLE
ok maybe there's something wrong with me but can I just say im very obsessed with the use of foxes in hollyleaf and leafpools stories. leafpool finding comfort in finding the fox that just almost killed her and her sister curled around its babies, keeping them close to her even in her sleep. remaining their mother as blood seeps from her wounds. and despite everything, all leaf takes note of is the warmth emanating from the den, not the imminent danger or threat on their lives. Conversely, holly also finds comfort in foxes, in the kit she takes in and is almost killed by in the snow. The thing doesn't recognize her as any figure in its life, just like she refuses to acknowledge leaf as her own mother, and would rather kill her to keep the order of things.
They're the same but different, parallel and never intersecting. I heart them forever :3
my stupid ass JUST realised that Jonathan heard both monologues in s4: wills AND mikes. thats why he looked so fucking pressed when mike opened his BITCH ASS mouth and started confessing his love to el by throwing wills words in her face
"The Vaster World"
Well! This is it! The very last epilogue of "Pinepaw and the Forgotten World"!
This epilogue in particular took me awhile to write, because I had to get it exactly how I wanted. Pinewing and Cormorantleaf's relationship is one of the main focuses of the story, and I really felt I needed to explore it the way it deserved. Especially important to me was showing that despite how much they love each other, there's still a ton of baggage and difficulities they needed to work out. I honestly think it would be unrealistic for two characters with so much trauma to just skip off happily together, but I also wanted to emphasize how they could still reconcile in the end. Not all relationships work out, but Pinewing and Cormorantleaf both felt that the other was extremely important to them, and the relationship was something they both wanted. So they were willing to put in the work of building it back up.
I had a ton of fun drawing older Pinewing and Cormorantleaf. I started doodling Pinewing with full facial hair something like a year ago, and I've been so desperate to finally get it into the comic since. It feels so right for him, like his perfect final form. After a life full of pressure and difficulty Pinewing just wants to be a happy old man who gets to kiss his husband every day, and sometimes profesy the future writ flesh. Goodbye, my little blue cat; I'm gonna miss you.
The title of this epilogue comes from "Mimsy Were The Borogoves" by Lewis Padgett: "They would survive, but they would not know how to swim downstream, to the vaster world of the ocean.”
In the end, the whole project wraps up at 64,501 words, 370 pages, and two and a half years of production time. I started this project expecting it to be a minor thing I occasionally drew on the side, something a few people might find interesting. The enormously positive response has absolutely blown me away and continues to do so, and I am forever so grateful that thousands of people can enjoy and meaningfully relate to this story.
Thank you, as always, to everyone who has commented, shared, reblogged, theorized, made fanart, made fanfiction, told their friends, liked it, or just read it at all. Though I won't go into the specific details, PATFW is an extremely personal and cathartic creation of mine, so the fact that many of you have also told me that it connected with you on an emotional level is genuinely heart-touching. I appreciate all your readership through these years. It means a lot.

-SPOILERS-
So I finished it and here are my thoughts!!
Moonpaw: literally everything about her character is so interesting to me. All the stuff with her dead sister and how she doesn't seem to realize the full impact of her actions is a very cool concept!! It almost reminds me of the collector from the owl house. Can't wait to see where they go with her!
Tawnypelt: I love her and her stupid crush on Crowfeather, I hope it becomes canon, please Erin's please it would be so funny. Other than that I actually enjoyed a lot of her chapters and idk why? They were just more active than the other two I think. Also poor Tawny, almost all of her friends are dead and her son keeps disrespecting her when she's just trying to support her grandson 😭Tawnypelt deserves best grandma award for helping out Birchfeather
Leafstar: honestly I'm with her clanmates here, she needed to step down especially after the badger incident. I feel bad for her but its clear that it's time for retirement. Everytime she dreamed of the gorge or Echosong I just got so sad, like she lost her home and her best friend it's so depressing. But I think her tendency to focus on the past and not the future is why she needed to give up leadership. I'm glad she realized it herself instead of getting fully impeached. Also Hawkstar!!! I'm so excited, Hawkwing will be SUCH a headstrong leader, I hope him and Tigerstar get into arguments at every gathering bc you know they would
Other thoughts:
It sounds like the clans might have to make another journey because of twolegs? Which will be interesting. I can't tell if I like the idea of that or not; on the one hand, it's a repeat of tnp, on the other, it could be a fun thing to read. I do think that contrasting Tawny/Crow who were horrified at the idea of making another journey, with the younger cats who don't seem to care much about a potential move was very smart. They don't really realize the impact behind it- obviously because they weren't there. So idk it could be a good idea, it could be an absolute garbage fire, we'll see
I'm gonna try to continue documenting my thoughts as I go through this series! I think it'll be fun to look back on when it's over :D
