Teh wears the mask because it's a source of his power, and because it's the branding and requirement of the organization he's in.

Everyone's gotta be wearing some kind of mask, and his is an indestructible, slightly-cylindrical, magic white mask, that sometimes sounds like plastic, and sometimes sounds like ceramic.
