This upcoming May will mark the 5 year anniversary of the finale of Dreamworks' She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. To celebrate, we're hosting a Big Bang with lots of fics and art, but we wanted everyone to be able to participate in some form.
Introducing SPOP Appreciation Week, a week of prompts to help us celebrate our fav and show the cast, crew and fandom itself there's still a lot of love for these characters out there.
Remember / Memory
Past, Present and Future
A Beautiful Wish
You aren't alone.
Imperfection Is Beautiful
Heart
We're Going to Win in the End
What can we make? Anything! Text posts, edits, show meta, fanart, fanfic, or even love letters to the show, cast, crew, or fandom itself. The main point of this event is to celebrate the show and get more posts out there overall, so think outside the box.
Where do we share? Everywhere! Anywhere! AO3, Tumblr, Facebook, Bluesky, Twitter, Instagram, etc wherever there's SPOP fandom.
Prompts can be interpreted anyway you like or ignored entirely if you want to do your own thing. Go out of order if that's what the muse wants, the point is just to make stuff and celebrate the show!
When you make your post, no matter what platform you're sharing it on, tag it #weloveSPOP2018 along with all the usual SPOP fandom, ship or character tags. Why this tag specifically? So if we do happen to trend anywhere, we ensure that Crew-Ra / Mattel / Netflix / Dreamworks et al understands which version of She-Ra we are celebrating.
We'll be reblogging our favorite SPOP Celebration posts on our sister blog, SPOPBang to keep them separate from the Big Bang posts so you don't have to tag us so long as you're using the #weloveSPOP2018 tag.
Remember: you don't need to make something long or complicated to participate! Whether it's silly memes, heartfelt posts about what the show means to you, fanworks inspired by the prompts, or using the prompts as a jumping off point to talk about your favorite scenes or character, we'd love whatever you have to share.
And if you have multiple things you want to post for each day, by all means, please do! The more, the better!
In addition to new content, we'd encourage you to reblog/retweet/re…bluesky older SPOP content during the celebration week to add to the nostalgia.
Tip: If you've got an idea for a post now, schedule it to post in advance so you don't forget! Tumblr and Twitter (well, on desktop anyway) let you schedule posts in advance natively. The app Buffer even has a free plan that will let you schedule posts on places like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Bluesky.
Here are the prompts with some suggestions of how you could interpret each…

This last one is all about finding hope in these uncertain times. A reminder that we must be strong, we must be brave, we gotta find every bit of strength that we have and never let it go. It's ending the week with love and determination and looking forward to a better future together.
Please reblog to help us spread the word!
It pissed me off so much because it revealed that even the utilitarian moral view Kyubey espoused was bullshit. Not only was he lying when he said humanity would eventually get to take part in the galactic community that benefitted from this power extraction, or at least it didn't matter whether that was true, but it also showed that he didn't care about having a permanent solution to entropy. No matter how much energy he got, if there was a "quota" you could be satisfied with meeting even if it destroyed your means of production, then you were never concerned with a truly perpetual solution, and the only reason to even be bothered by entropy in the first place is if you want something to last for literal eternity!
That alternate timeline where Madoka becomes a witch and Kyubey goes “Looks like she’s gonna destroy the entire planet… oh well that’s not my problem” is both hilarious and chilling to me
I'm trying to make comics for a lot of my favorite shows too. I have a lot of ideas, but I know my art isn't so great. Hopefully people still find them fun enough and my art gets better over time.
¡Pura Vida!
Had to jump on the trend and sketch out a Costa Rican Miku as soon as I could! 🇨🇷
Charlie: Well I get my looks from my father, so "devilish" is technically accurate.

🚨🚨🚨IMPORTANT NEW IMFORMATION ABOUT KOSA🚨🚨🚨

I wasn't actively on Tumblr or any other social media while Amphibia was coming out.
I didn't participate in any of these leaks, rumors, trends, or memes.
But I did still have an irreplicable experience. I still had a fandom reacting to Amphibia as it came out.
I made my own fandom. After falling in love with the first season, I invited my best friends over to watch it over several binge sessions. Sometimes on a big tv, but when we could manage it we set up a projector in my yard, made a campfire and had smores. I had watched the first season episode by episode as it was airing and then showed it to my friends all at once. So it was decided that would be the tradition. I watched the second season, and that had to gather all my friends and sit on a couch knowing they were about to see True Colors. I was praised for my restraint in not letting anything about it slip for over a month, and then I let out quite a lot of exasperation with a guttural "I know!" While we were going over everything we'd just seen in a frenzy, I threw in "Remember when Marcy FUCKING DIED!?" because we just had to keep sight of how crazy that was. "Remember when Marcy fucking died?" became a catch phrase/meme in our group and not long after that it became a discord emote.
Once it was time to get together for the grand finale, I was well prepared. They had a better idea of what they were in for after season two, and I knew now how much they'd love it. I had already prepared a "Remember when Anne fucking died?" emote to upload as soon as we finished the final episode. I had taken wooden coasters to my local library and lasercut the image of a member of the Calamity Trio onto each to them. When my friends arrived for the final watch party, I gifted them each one of these coasters, each one with some galaxy-pattern duct-tape on the bottom to help it glide on surfaces and not damage them. After the final episode ended I revealed that was a lie. The duct tape was actually there to hide the fact that each coaster had the adult version of its Calamity Trio member laser-engraved onto the bottom of it!
We were 23 at the time. The same age as Anne, Sasha, and Marcy in that final scene. And we felt connected like they did.
amphibia isnt just a silly cartoon its a whole immersive experience like you just have to be there . watching true colors now isn't the same as watching it after it got delayed, censored, leaked, AND the whole sprig voice in-advance warning hysteria at the beginning of the ep on may 2021 . watching commander anne now isnt the same as watching it with the "in commander anne sasha is revealed to be attracted to women" copypasta plague . watching the finales now aren't the same as watching it when the anne arm amputation one eyed sasha "anne boonchuy dies of overdose at 37 yrs old" thing was going insane . you just had to be there . what im saying is that it was a disney cartoon and we were all on drugs
I can only hope to someday love someone as much as Homu loves Mado, but I don't think I'd ever give up either.
Not because I'd want to save my friend that badly,
But because after like the fifth time it stops being about that.
Now it's about spiting God and Kyubey.
If you were Homura and you had a very good friend or "friend" in that whole situation how many timelines would you do before giving up?
Im sorry it's looking like 5 and 10 at the absolute most 😭
Homu is a much better person than me in this aspect
Both Adora and Catra, and their relationship, and their story has one of the best feminist statements and subtext in all media of the past century. I may write an essay just about that . Essays. Plural.
26 year old obsessed with children's cartoons. Maybe some day I'll make comics and/or animations consistently
