Any tips for shading? I'm pretty bad at it :,3

It is helpful to put a little sun where you want the light to be coming from and an arrow pointing towards the direction! And looking at spheres in different lighting to determine how it reacts. I think if things as basic shapes like cylinders, spheres, and cubes to try to understand how the form is. Reference is always super helpful! Don’t be afraid to use them

I typically start with cell shading on a multiply layer to get the basic shadows down and then blur the edges. I have my colors separated on different layers and I create a selection with the colors and I m cut out the shadow layer and pick specific layer and then change the shadows determined by the color. Then I add a secondary color within the the shading part called reflected light. I like to choose a background color and then incorporate the colors into the reflected or I pick a lighter version of the main shadow

Normalize liking your own art!! I see so many people hating their own stuff and I don’t understand. You can enjoy what you have made and still acknowledge that there could be improvements/changes. But it should be seen as a learning opportunity in the end. More people need to be like hell yeah I made that!!
