summary: Maeve has to cut a deal to make sure her ass is covered when she goes to see you, but at least she knows it’s worth it.

Maeve was rarely able to sneak away to see you, given that the chip that every Supe had been issues would have told Homelander where you were, but she had cut a deal with Noir; in exchange for her letting him borrow a sword, he would cover her ass and make sure that no one was looking where she was going for the next few days. Sure, she snuck away to get drunk or high or both or to see Butcher and the Boys, but when it came to you, she needed to make sure that things were safe; she needed to make sure that you were protected above all else, she couldn’t have Homelander going after you. You meant too much. You were too much to her for her to be willing to put your neck in the noose. She needed to make that deal with Noir, she needed to be careful, she needed to make sure that every track was covered and that there were no witnesses; but as she let herself in through the side gate, dressed down in just a pair of grey shorts and a white t-shirt, she could feel herself start to relax a little. 

Maeve found you at the bottom of the garden, shielded by the large grey umbrella and relaxing in your chair as a little speaker played ‘Hardcore’ by Beast In Black, she took the seat nearest to you and stole a swig from your drink, wincing a little; iced Red Bull never did seem to be enjoyable, and she couldn’t stomach the taste, putting it back down.
