As a A-Rank Hunter, it’s your job to be in very dangerous situation. But right now, you don’t know what is more dangerous between a high-risk dungeon and Baek Yoonho in front of you, with a stare that can only be described as murderous.

The two of you are been friend for a long time, became hunters at the same time in the Fiend Guild and you followed Baek Yoonho when he decided to found the White Tiger Guild. You were in charge of helping/training the new recruit in the low-ranking dungeon and as often as you could you would join for high-ranking one.

A dungeon opened and your guild had to clear it as fast as you can with other hunters. Everything went smoothly until the boss room. Even if you beat the monster, it was a difficult combat and you closed the dungeon with some injuries, one bigger than the others.

Thankfully, healers were here and with no time, you were good to go again. What you did not expect was for Yoonho to come right at you when you let the others heal everyone else. Slowly pulling you aside, you can see in his eyes a mix of emotions but murder is the main one. You smiled at him sheepishly:

“It was not that bad…just a scratch, you know?”

“A scratch? Don’t fool me Y/n, I saw your wound before it was healed and you can’t call it “just” a scratch.” He said, hardening his stare.

You did not understand his reaction. Yes, Baek Yoonho, is known for always protecting his guild members but he never loses his control like that when someone get hurt.

“Yoonho, I’m fine okay, I got hit, it sucks but it is part of the job. Now, if you excuse me, I need to go home and change so I’m not in my bloody armor anymore.”

It was not like you to snap at him like that but you were tired and the only thing that you wanted was to take a shower, not to argue with your best friend.

As your guild master, Baek needed to stay professional but he can’t help letting his head take over when it’s you. When he saw that you were injured pretty badly, the only thing in his mind was to murder the already dead creature in the dungeon. He knows that you are strong, he saw it with his own eyes during multiple raids but seeing his most important person getting hurt was not something he planned today.

For him, you were more than a friend but he kept his feeling for himself, not wanting to break your long-time friendship. Being with you is more than enough for him, however, it became more and more complicated to hide those feeling, especially of something bad is happening to you (like today).

Looking out through the window, he was replaying the moment over and over in his head and exhaled. He acted like a prick to you because of his own worries and emotions. he really needs to apologize. How could he continue if you were not by his side because of what he did, it is a bit overdramatic of him but he didn’t care, he was the one in the wrong here. He quicky took his phone and typed quickly a message before leaving the Guild HQ.

*At your house*

The shower did miracle to your tired body and mind, making you think about what happened with Yoonho today. You shouldn’t have used the tone you had when you left him. He was just worried about your well being like every guild master and that’s it. Writing a note in your head to apologize tomorrow, at the same moment, you heard your phone’s ring for receiving a notification: 2 messages from “Tiger”

Y/n, can we meet up? I want to talk

Speaking of the devil, smiling slightly, you texted back an “okay” and prepare yourself to go out

*At the bar*

After ordering your drinks, the both of you went to sit on your usual seat, in the corner. You liked this bar for its quietness and tranquility. You could just enjoy your drink without being disturbed by someone that wanted a picture with you or with Yoonho (not that you don’t mind but it’s nice to have a calm moment). There was a weird silence between you, before Yoonho broke it with a sigh:

“I want to apologize for today.”

You looked at him with curiosity: “Apologize?”

“Yes, I let my emotions do the talking and I act like you were the only one responsible for the raid. I’m sorry Y/n.”

You shook your head.

“You don’t have to apologize; I was in the wrong to leave you like that and I’m sorry. You were just worried, right? I would be pretty worried too if my best friend got injured, which happen a lot, huh?”

Trying to light up the conversation with a joke, Yoonho laugh slightly covering the small disappointment in his eyes. Friend, again this word. Maybe because of today, this time his heart broke a little bit more in his chest.

“I just don’t understand why you were that worried, I mean, we fought together and it was not the first time that you saw me being reckless and facing the consequences.”

Yoonho took some minutes to think about his answers, is it Fate that give him a sign to finally express his feeling? Or is it just a sick joke of it? You saw him letting out a breath and his stare became intense:

“Do you remember when I said to you that I wanted to create my own guild?”

“Yes, it something that I will never forget.”

“And how you said that you will always follow me so we can fight together…”

It was strange to see Yoonho nervous and you did not like that. In your entire life together, you only saw this nervous state when something bad was happening to you, like the time you got sick and you didn’t show up at a report meeting.

“Okay Tiger, spill it out, you’re worrying me. If it is because of today, I can apologize a thousand times.”

Groaning, Baek shook his head. Why it is so difficult?

“It is not about today, I mean it is but..Fuck, I just hate to see you hurt after a raid, especially if I’m not here because it means that I can’t protect the one person I love.”

You felt your brain short-circuiting at his confession:

“For a while now, it was easy to fall for you. You’re strong, handsome and just seeing your smile can brighten my day. I never said anything, fearing of breaking our friendship.

You can still not believe it. Your feelings for Yoonho were also complicated. He is your best friend and you never want to lose that. Being with him is everything to for you but you saw the changes, how your stare at him with something more in your eyes, how the small touches were lingering more than they should. However, you never felt Baek responding to them so you assumed that he was just seeing you as his best friend and colleague.

Getting out of your head, you can’t help but laugh at the situation the both of you are in, which result of Yoonho giving you a bewildered stare. You tried to stop but thinking about everything makes you laughing more:

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to laugh…it’s just that, I-I love you too Yoonho. But you never seem to see the small moves that I could do so I just stopped…Omg we’re two idiots, it’s crazy.”

Continuing laughing your heart out, you heard Yoonho letting out a funny snort and he joined you in your hilarious state. When the two of you calmed a bit, you took a sip of your drink and give him a loving smile. Yoonho did the same and took your hand in his, squeezing it, a manner to promise that yes, you will always fight and be together even if your relationship changed a bit.

You were just two idiots but two idiots in love and now with your feelings out of the bags, everything’s going to be fine, much to the relief of Choi Jong-in, that was at his limits of seeing the two of you pinning for each other during shared raids.

Taking their headphones off they turned around and caught in the corner of their eye a little puppy hidden behind a bin. The pup looked cold, scared, and hungry. It must have been left there cruelly some time ago. Their heart hurting at the sight, Y/N didn’t hesitate a second before approaching the puppy carefully. The animal, wary, seemed uncertain. However, encouraged by soft nice words, it eventually let Y/N’s hand near its face and sniffed it. Reassured by the calmness and the smell offered, the puppy came closer and licked the hand, making Y/N laugh, the animal was definitely hungry.

Having no food on themselves and not wanting to leave the puppy alone, it was decided – very quickly and not consulting their girlfriend prior – that the puppy would be coming home, at least for now, with Y/N. They hurried to their house, found a nice cosy spot for the puppy in their office and gave it some meat from the fridge before leaving to get all they needed for the animal. Once in the store they were so focused on getting all the right stuff: dry food, bed, collar, leash and even crate that Y/N missed Natasha calling them 4 times.

Upon entering their house again Y/N was met with a pretty pissed Natasha standing there with crossed arms.

“Why is there a dog in your office?” Said the red head sternly.

“It’s not a dog, it’s a puppy and there is a very good reason why it’s in my office” Replied her partner with a tinge of panic in their voice.

“Please, explain yourself.” The spy waited, now leaning against the wall, her eyes fixed on Y/N.

“S-so I was on my home and I heard a cry coming from a street and so I looked and- and there was this small puppy, and, you should have seen it, it looked so sad and scared and hungry, and… I took it home. Just for now! To get it in better condition. Though it’s so cute and I kind of have already bought everything we need to keep it...” The young person had spoken so fast they weren’t sure their girlfriend had understood everything.

“Sweetheart are you kidding me? You can’t just take a puppy home and decide to keep it without asking me, and you know that with my work I can’t have pets, I don’t have time for it.” Natasha was now definitely angry.

As she was taking her first sip, she heard Y/N laughing rather loudly, the sound came from their office. She should have known they were with the puppy. Making her way to the room the laughing did not stop and when she opened the office door she was met with Y/N on the floor with the puppy on top of them, trying to lick their face. The redhead felt a smile creeping on her face and tried to fight against. She could not keep the puppy, she reminded herself.

Opening their eyes and seeing their girlfriend, Y/N gently pushed the puppy off and got up.

“Hey honey.” They leaned in for a kiss but were stopped.

“Clean your face first sweetheart.” Said Natasha with a fake smile.

“Right sorry.” Laughed her partner.

“Is it a boy or a girl?” She found herself asking.

It had been 3 days since they had taken the puppy home and it had been 3 wonderful but also tiring day. Y/N had truly fallen in love with the puppy and had tried their best to show Natasha that keeping it would be a responsible choice.

The redhead wasn’t anti-pets per say, she just didn’t think that with her job she would be able to properly take care it and she also didn’t want to leave all the responsibilities to Y/N. The problem was that she was slowly growing fond of Muttley, she secretly had always wanted to have a dog and call it that. Now that her partner had let her chose the name, a connection to the pup had formed. She would watch Y/N take care of the puppy, she would laugh and smile as all Muttley seem to want was to lick their face. Sometimes when her partner was busy she would even play with the pup herself and she had to admit it felt really good.

She was currently petting the puppy as it laid on its back next to her.

“I’m taking Muttley on a walk, do you want to come with me?”Asked Y/N.

The spy couldn’t stop noticing how happy their partner looked, they had done their best to make everything perfect at home and hadn’t pressured her into taking care of the pup if she didn’t want.

But she had wanted to take care of the puppy, it acted as a stress-reliever after work. She would get home tired and possibly bruised and then she would see Muttley wagging his tail, happy to see her and she would smile and play with him for a while. She always felt better after.

And now looking at their little family, all together, laughing as Muttley gets excited every time he sees another dog; she took a decision.

“We should get his collar engraved.” Natasha suddenly says.

“Why?” Y/N didn’t understand yet.

“So that if he gets lost, there is still a way for him to be brought back home.” She smiled and squeezed Y/N’s hand.

“Oh my god thank you so much honey! I love you!” Her partner hugged her tightly.

“I love you too” Natasha laughed and then kissed them.

As they were still holding each other, Muttley decided to jump on them with joy. As if knowing he had found his forever home.
