Why I think Todoroki Shouto is autistic

Quick word before analysis:

I know this one has been done a few times already but I still want to write a long analysis on this just because I feel like it ^^ This is only based on the anime because I didn’t finish reading the manga yet.

I wonder what the author of Boku no Hero Academia was thinking when he created his characters because so many of them seem to be autistic and I wonder if this was on purpose or if he just did it without realising…?

Anyway, this is only me sharing my point of view so take it for what it’s worth. Also autism is a spectrum. The following characteristics don’t represent its entirety.

I’ve been in the Lokius trenches since Day 1. The rest of my family is hardcore Team Sylki. It takes A LOT to get these two ships to even be civil with one another.

But the season finale? This is a time for brotherhood.

We will mourn together the loss of our almost-canon ships. We will sing the funeral dirges as our hopes of Season 3 goes to die. We will swap fanfics and theories and song requests on playlists to make TikTok edits to. And at the end of it all, we’ll mourn the idea of Loki, whose greatest fear was being alone, taking up the Glorious Burden and never getting his happy ending.

Perhaps tomorrow it will all be normal once again. Back to the Twitter threads and the spats over Tumblr. But this? This is true fandom spirit.

We’re a family. And family means putting aside our differences and giving a hefty “Fuck you” to canon with both middle fingers up. Bless this mess.

Hey anybody want this flowchart I made for getting myself out of procrastination? Too late have it

This is by no means a comprehensive flowchart, but the general principles have been helpful for me.

I have lists of stuckbreakers, small tasks, large tasks, and projects already written out so I don't have to figure out what to actually do, I have ideas right there. Where people put small vs large tasks or whatever else varies, this is mostly based on how long/how much energy it'll take me.

*personally my projects page also includes more spesific ongoing projects and what the next step I need to do is - ie "bat plushie - cut out pattern pieces". I find this helps me get going on a project because there are fewer decisions needed.

I reference a "you feel like shit" flowchart - it's an absolutely wonderful tool that I found on a tumblr post! Check it out, it's much better than mine.

If you have trouble breaking things down into smaller bits, goblin tools is also a really great resource. I don't use it a ton, but I found it in a tumblr post where people were singing it's praises sooo.

Welp, Loki Season 2 is over. We’re all in hell, but at least we had fun on the way.

Hhhhhhhhh, I hate being realistic. At least fandom’s got my back.

You know what I think is really going to hurt next week.

I know that 99.9% Lokius will not be canon. It is Disney +, it is the MCU, Loki has too many fans they won't let him be in a relationship with a man.

I have been through this many times before, Merthur, Destiel etc.

But the difference is: this feels real. This feels like it is not queerbaiting. This feels like their love for each other is profound, unconditional. For both of them their 1st priority is each other. The many touches, body language, heart to hearts, Loki fixing himself up before he goes to talk to Mobius. The "it's about what I wanted"..."Mobius should have a choice". The pure adoration they have for each other. Them saving each other without a second thought. There is absolutely nothing toxic in their relationship and it feels real. For the first time ever this feels like the writers are not playing with us.

Do I want this to happen?

Do I want my favourite chatacter since I am 15 to be loved as he has never been loved before, to be cherished, to be accepted just as he is, to be chosen without hesitation?

Of course i do.

Will this happen? No. It will not. Either he will suddenly end up with Sylvie, proving that he is not worthy of anybodies love only his own, or he will stay alone.

They could have given us a normal friendship between him and Mobius. Would people still ship them? Of course, that is what shipping is about. But they have given us the most dangerous thing, the very thing that could end up hurting us more than anything: hope.

Becouse I know deep in my head it won't happen, but they made it so real I cannot help but to hope that maybe this time they won't hurt us, maybe this time for the first time we can be happy for our favourite characters, just maybe this one time all of us queer people can feel like we have won.

Loki was right: hope is hard.
