As a trans man, I’ve grown up pretty much controlled by my dysphoria. I wouldn’t touch anything that made me seem less “manly”. I forced myself to give up hobbies and interests and all sorts of things… but after a couple years it got really exhausting… I didn’t want to force myself to act like a cis man x100 just to be treated like a normal person. If a cis guy can like feminine or non-traditionally-masculine things, why can I? Ever since I started thinking that, I started being way more comfortable with myself. I still do things to pass as a guy though, and I still dress very masculine since that is how i am most comfortable. But I won’t let my dysphoria control me so much anymore, and I think that’s an important lesson a lot of trans guys need to hear. Do what makes you happy!! Be proud of who you are!!!

anyway, I made this comic/doodle compilation bc I headcanon a lot of characters as trans like lemmy and roy. it’s mostly a lot of self projecting but…… yeah. I tried to show the Trans Experience with this comic. Ngl, dysphoria got me down a lot when i was younger… the only thing that kept me going was support from my family, and I can imagine the koopalings doing the same. Being trans isn’t just a miserable experience though, I have felt so happy finding who I am and finding people who support me. It’s so amazing and I’m so proud of every trans person out there!

Me, doing exercise in the past: Okay, this hurts too much now, I think I’m done for the day

People I did exercise with: No! Push through it! You have to Keep Going!

Me: Why? I’ve been going for a good while, and it’s been hurting for a good while, but I kept going, so I have pushed myself. Which means that I will be stronger next time and able to go further. If I keep pushing myself now, I’ll just be in too much pain and begin to hate this.

Them: I don’t believe you when you say that you’ve already pushed yourself, so you have to keep going, otherwise you’re Weak And Bad!

Me: Okay, I hate this, and I’m gonna just stop forever. (Or at least until something like a pandemic forces me to exercise alone, and I realise that I can actually go at my own pace and still see results.)

An ADHD podcast last week, talking about exercise: And remember not to push yourself! Going at a slower pace to build up muscle is fine, and if you go too fast, you’ll associate exercise with pain, and it will make it harder to find the motivation to keep going long-term.
