Toritsuka not being in Saiki's class is so funny. Like yes we are introducing a new character. No he is not in a situation he would ever talk to the protagonist were they in a regular school setting. Yes you will see him every episode.
tbh I think so many of people’s problems with how Ben and Mal’s relationship started could’ve been solved by the love potion just. failing.
for one reason or another the love potion doesn’t work but Mal has no reason to realize that until later on because Ben likes her even without it
would solve so many issues
Genuinely I think at this point the whole "Daphne was just useless in the original series" is misogyny. She and Fred did the exact same stuff, found the same amount of clues as each other (if anything daphne found more) and were both the "faces" of the gang. Basically the only thing Daphne didn't do that Fred did was drive the van.
And if you include the Scrappy era she did that too and also found more stuff cause she stuck with the gang
The "danger prone" bit is just as much Shaggy as her, and if anything I associate "falling into a trap door" with him over her (not to mention Fred does it IN THE TITLE SEQUENCE). And the whole Kidnapping thing is like. Barely there? It happens with the clown and I can't remember many more instances in WAY.
Anyways all of this to say we have no need for plotlines in Scooby-Doo films where Daphne "works to have a place in the gang" SHE HAS ONE SHE'S THEIR FRIEND AND SHE FINDS CLUES AND SHE CAN DO ANYTHING WITH LIMITED RESOURCES
there is some rhetorical term to describe ashihara's decision to make suwa a prominent figure for osamu's journey at the beginning of both the rank war and the away mission test arcs...
like even though suwa is playing seemingly opposite roles (an opponent in the rank wars, an ally in the away mission test), he's ultimately serving the same role in the narrative: he's helping osamu grow as an agent and as a captain.
in the rank wars, he (along with arafune) was osamu's first rank war opponent. rhetorically speaking, he was there to kickstart osamu's journey into team-strategy.
then in the away-mission, he was the captain of the squad osamu was assigned to -- serving as a guide for osamu to learn the mechanics of an away-mission/learning how to work with agents he's unfamiliar with/even acting as a role model with him being the more experienced captain/etc etc etc
i think it's also interesting to note that suwa being the first of something for the the betterment of his juniors also literally happened IN the story when he got turned into a trion cube during the aftokrator invasion arc. in one of the trivia/author notes or whatever ashihara literally said that "[Suwa would] feel bad for Kitora or Chika if they were to be teased for [being turned into a trion cube], so it doesn’t really matter if it’s happening to him."
there is no point to this post. i just think suwa is neat. mama suwa real? idk
i find it really annoying that people are all like "omg ella totally pranked bridget on purpose as a plot twist since that was the only thing they changed in the past and they successfully stopped her from doing that"
did none of you listen to get your hands dirty?? or even pay attention to anything about ella's character at all?? or pay attention to the original cinderella fairy tale?? bfr
an IMPORTANT detail of the cinderella fairytale is that cinderella was BANNED from going to the ball by her unreasonable, evil stepmother. the vase gave lady tremaine a valid excuse to ground ella in the movie, but if not for the time travel intervention, she would have found some other reason to just ban ella from going to castlecoming to try and get her own daughters to snag a prince. at THIS point fay would swoop in and save the day, but because she's already been established as bad at magic, THIS is why she is limited by midnight - after all, if ella wasn't banned and went dress shopping with bridget, how would the glass slippers ever be so important that she ended up getting her daughter her own glass shoes
two, the villains ONLY crack open the evil cookbook to lord it over red and chloe to rub their loss in their faces, once they think the coast is clear because red and chloe have ALREADY dispatched merlin's security, and they got too self assured. without time travel, they would've been racing against the clock to get out before they were caught by merlin. they wouldn't have had time to crack open the book. so once they were FINALLY safe i believe they would've been more cautious. perhaps ulyana would have consulted the souls of the black lagoon, or maybe one of her friends snatched it out of her hands and froze themself opening it in their excitement. it doesn't matter, all we need to know is that ulyana figures out that she has to trick someone good into opening it to the page she needs. since we know that ulyana intended to pretend to be bridget's friend, i think it's possible that she herself tricks ella into opening the book by telling ella she wants to make amends with bridget, which makes the betrayal so much more intense for bridget and explains away why she'd be so angry at her in the modern day
Palace attendant: The Queen of Hearts has declared a coup at Auradon Prep. King Benjamin: Does... does she know what a coup is? King Benjamin: Auradon Prep is a high school. King Benjamin: That's like going to the Grocery Store, barricading the door, and declaring yourself the Mayor.
After a LOT of searching, I finally found a website where I can rewatch Generator Rex, an old favourite of mine. LOVED this programme growing up. There are ads, but I can watch it, and for anyone else who loves Gen Rex, and wants to rewatch it, here are the links.
Can’t leave the gang out without saying ily to the homies
