Every once in a while Merlin is just trending and it makes me cackle cause wdym a show that ended a decade ago is trending and nothings happened
I saw a post a while ago that joked about how fanfic writers love to give characters non-specific paperwork when they need the characters to be bored or tired from a long day. They speculated itโs because a lot of fanfic writers are either very young, or typically not very familiar with the jobs theyโre writing about. And now that Iโm back into reading merlin fanfiction Iโm obsessed with how the equivalence of this for Arthur is shit to do with wheat and grain. Merlin wants to know where Arthur is? Oh heโs probably in a boring council meeting about wheat yields. Why has Arthur had a long day? Well he was spending all day surveying the grain storage for the upcoming winter. Arthurโs been arguing with other nobles? Probably because they all want more of the grain grown on their own land. This man is micro managing every single stalk grown in the kingdom of camelot no wonder he never noticed merlinโs magic
I wonder if โwe have to torture this special character. in the lab facility. with secret science.โ is an interest all 12-year-old children share or were we just the generation exposed to Maximum Ride
Well well well, if it isnโt once and future king and his friend/manservant/ other side of the coin/destiny/love of his life/boyfriend

If life is destined to be broken, if society is doomed to be shattered, then we should at least try to repair it.
*puts hands on hollywood exec's shoulders, staring unblinking into their eyes* listen to me. you will never get people who hate musicals to like musicals by making your musical less of a musical. if you hide the fact that your film is a musical in the advertising, you're going to get a lot of low ratings from people who hate musicals and went into your movie not expecting a musical and got one anyway. people who hate musicals will hate them no matter how realistic and diegetic and lowkey you try to make it. they will hate musicals even if you completely excise anything complicated, over the top, silly, or even slightly challenging. they will hate musicals even if you cut half the songs. they will hate musicals even if you cast that a-lister who can't sing worth a damn. stop trying to market to people who hate musicals. they're a lost cause. your audience should be people who love musicals. this half-assed middle ground pisses off both camps. just embrace the fact that your movie is a musical. lean into it. don't try and trick musical haters into coming to your film when you could be marketing to the theater kids. better cringe than a coward.
