MACDENNIS TIMELINE CONDENSED

ok so the other one is kinda long. Here's the short version.

Macdennis can be separated into 7 phases.

(S1-S4) - In these seasons the homoerotic undertones are treated as more of a bit.

(s5-s7)- 5 is Dennis' most thirsty season, he nearly adores Mac (not to say he doesn't try to control him or get irritated by him). Then, after Dee pointing out how gay they are getting, there's a big pullback. Dennis says no homo, Mac says definitely no homo, Dennis gets married and kicks Mac out, Dennis gets divorced so fast and lets Mac back into the apartment.

(s8-s9) Mac tries to kiss Dennis on the mouth out of nowhere. Mac and Dennis have monthly dinner dates. They wrestle naked in a shower, but the "wrestling" is more like a swaying embrace. Their apartment burns down.

(s10-s11)

Mac and Dennis live with Dee now. They have to take turns jacking off to the same creampie videos to get off now for some reason ( I don't know why people think they were doing it together because from what I can tell they weren't). They move into a house together and nearly kill each other.

(s12)

Mac and Dennis are back in their own apartment. Mac comes out for real. Mac gets Dennis a Valentines day present, causing him to tear up. Dennis leaves the state to go raise his secret son.

(s13-14 )

Dennis' angriest seasons, needs a hug badly. He comes back from north Dakota. Mac pines hard, tries desperately to do what Dennis wants him to, but Dennis just wants him to take control.

(s15-16)

Mac backs off. The power has flipped, and Dennis is slipping. Mac explores his identity.

Hugh Honey and Vic Vinegar- Pretended to be gay married realtors

Double life- Pretended to be in an emotional relationship to get Dennis out of having to be with Mandy romantically.

Johnny- Dennis Catfishes Mac into having an emotionally and sexually involved romantic relationship with his online alias.

Where the trans satire misses the mark in IASIP

Gonna talk about this because it does kinda bug me, and I am a trans man. I wanna start by saying I don't think that trans people shouldn't be joked about, but like any good satire the joke shouldn't be on us. I also do think there is great LGBT rep in sunny and they get it right a lot but also in this case I think they got it wrong.

What has always irked me is that the joke with Carmen was Mac wants to be with her because she has a penis and Mac is gay. I know that when they introduced Carmen Mac wasn't written as being gay, but later he is and he does come out and yes it makes sense that he was sleeping with women because of comphet but now it just seems even more like Carmen was the only woman he really liked because she has a penis.

I know its a little late now but I wish they would've found a way to clear this up.

(not to mention the zoom on the penis in the pants, the whole joke being transwoman have penis funny)

Really what should have happened is Mac finds a trans man that he is super into, but he refuses to acknowledge him as being a man, even though hes a total beefcake. Mac could still refuse to admit he's gay and everyone could point out how completely delusional he is because, well, that's obviously a man.

I don't know, maybe Im just not getting it.

Dennis is not a psychopath.

He has antisocial personality disorder (as do the rest of them) and BPD (diagnosed in show). ASP is the result of trauma. Sociopaths are impulsive and prone to anger. They struggle to maintain relationships, careers, etc. Psychopaths can easily play along and maintain pretend relationships long term.

also worth saying that as he is a character and not all of the traits will be accurate to somebody with a true diagnosis..... but he does not fit the diagnostic criteria of a psychopath at all, and he exhibits sociopathic tendencies big time.

Dennis considers Mac to be the most attractive of the gang (not counting himself obviously). And I feel like this just further proves what an unreliable narrator he is. In Breaks up he tells mac he has nice biceps and beautiful lips (this is cannon in my heart even though the scene was deleted it still happened). He'd rather cut his limbs off than admit to something like that now.

Dennis has a boner for Macs ripped new body and it makes him so mad how hard he is for him and also so angry and jealous that he's not as ripped as Mac is.
