part two!!!:

the pendent left behind.

The monotone voice reading the will grated on Jason’s nerves. It didn’t help that he heard everything eles that was going on. Dick was crying silently, trying not to bring attention to himself. Tim was just stareing at the floor. Cass had her face burried in Stephanies shoulder. Damian was just huddled up against Alfred’s side and duke was standing against the couch.

The man took them to the room and started handing out possessions that Bruce had specifically left behind. Alfred got the property, dick got the Batman things, Tim got the company, Cassandra Stephanie and duke spilt vigilante equipment and each got varying degrees of money. Damian would stay with Alfred and the property would transfer into his name when he turned 19.

Jason didn’t think he’d get anything. He was informed that he would get the book collection, and a storage unit. Why would the Batman need a storage unit?

After dumping the last of the books into his condo he looked back at the key. It belonged to a storage unit downtown, apparently it hadent been used in years.

He had been putting off actually going to check the place out, but it was on his patrol route. And he really should check if it’s worth dumping half of the books there so he could breathe again.

The ride downtown was one full of conflicting thoughts. He wasn’t sure what he thought of Bruce anymore. He loved him. He hated him. He was indifferent and he cared oh so very much. But Bruce was dead. Not dead to anyone though. His hand tightens on the handle, steering into the storage lockers and parking.

He walked through the many lockers, wondering what lives the people owned them lived.

Were they happy? Sad? Was their life perfect? Or just as fucked at his. It helped to think about it, made him feel like the cards he was delt were less personal. Not meant just for him.

He sighed as he got to the locker. It was just number four. Why was it that number? No idea. He didn’t even know why Bruce had a storage locker. The key clicked in the lock and he pulled the door up to reveal-

……

What.

What Jason saw was a small brown box in the middle of the floor. Nothing eles. Just a small, brown, cardboard box. He scoffed and walked over to it, kneeling down.

Was Bruce fucking with him? Was this some sort of joke?

He picked up the box, it wasn’t heavy. Money Mabye? That would be sweet. He shook it and heard something clacking around in there. Not money. Great. Fuck you to Bruce.

He opens the cardboard box and pulled out the paper that was over it, leaving it to fall to the floor. Inside the box was a pendent. It was a teardrop pendent, made of White Jade. The chain was simple silver. He grabbed it by the chain and held it up to the light. This could sell for quite a bit. He went to touch the actual pendent. As his hand wrapped around the actual hen a bolt of electricity went through his palm and his body jolted, before his eyes dropped and he fell back, hand clasped around the pendent. He swore he could see flashes of gold through the slit of his eye, and once the fell closed he heard some one say something.

“New- 7!?@$ relation cho-£#*€.l” as it cut in and out of white noise, before he fell unconscious. He jolted awake in his appartment on his couch. All drowsy and sluggish, he coughed and went to go pour himself a drink.

Things slowly came back to him, wasn’t he at the storage unit? That was strange. Did he ride home? Did he imagine it? He grabbed his head as it throbbed, taking a long swig off his drink turning around. He went to the couch again, to sit and think, before he dropped his glass.

He looked down on the couch, where the pendent lay. That was weird. He picked it up again cautiously, ignored h the glass on the carpet. He ran his fingers over it, and sighed. He threw the pendent to the carpet and ignored it. This was too much for him.

And that’s where the pendent lay for days. On the carpet, amongst the piles of books. Jason did go through them, picking and choosing which ones he wanted to keep in his flat, which ones he wanted to send to storage. And the ones he very much wanted to sell. Only once he had cleared most out and was suiting up for his job, did he see the sheen of the white jade again. He was putting his gloves on when he walked past it.

He stared at it for the moment, before picking it up. It reminded him of his dad a little. Strange, confusing, scared him. But gave him a weird sense of power. He took a second , before clicking it around his neck and fastens it. There was some reason Bruce left him it. Even if it was fucking stupid.

He went about his normal buissness, before he ran into a something gone wrong in down an alley. He got in the middle of it, before a gun was pulled on him. He didn’t notice the pendent flashing under his jacket. He cursed, stepping back, before saying.

“These fuckers, just because Batman isn’t here dosent mean you won’t get served justice-“ before he could finish the pendent floated up and went gold, seeming to scan the men. Before turning red and flashing. Jason had to close his eyes, it went so fucking white. But when he opens them he nearly jumped out of his skin.

His clothes had gone white. Along with his hair fully turning white. There were gold trims on the clothes, and his gun had turned to a crossbow. He made a noise and the other people just stood there stunned. He looked at the pendent, wondering what the fuck was happening, when he heard a voice behind.

“Well?”

Jason whipped around and stared at the other person. He looked 12, which would’ve been stranger if he wasn’t wearing white robes, with gold trim and accents. He had a white ribbion with gold decal on it as a blindfold around his eyes, and he was sporting an undercut with pale skin.

“Get on with it.” He said, sounding annoyed. It broke the whole divine illusion.

“Get on with- with what- wait what’s happening?”

The boy scoffed, gesturing to the pendent with an off hand.

“It went red when you talked about justice. It’s red. It’s said they don’t pass. You kill them now.”

It really motivated me to continue with this project instead of just giving it up.as per usual, pleas PM me if you want to be added to the tagged list, if you have any ideas about the story or want me to incorporate any specific aspects or neglected characters, just let me know in the comments and ill add them.

Every part I think I’m just going to try to add two more species of Mer, like I did in the first part. The first part will be linked under the people who asked to be tagged, if you want to be tagged PM me.

Part one linked: Clark finds himself a friend. Bruce finds himself a meal ticket.

Part three linked: Bruce shows off his pup and Clark learns to communicate.

chapter four: Clark finds the family. Bruce needs a nap.

Enjoy the story!

“He isn’t happy with you. You missed the whole meeting.” Diana sighed, “we were discussing the trenches situation, the trench creatures are starting to come higher then normal. He’s still pissed you missed it though. What were you even doing?”

Clark looked over at Diana, crossing his arms with a huff looking to the reefs surface.

“I told you. I went to find the Mer who we’ve been getting reports about, and he slipped away. Before I even got there, and its dose take time to scout the whole area you know?”

Diana looked at him, eyes narrowing as she stopped in her tracks, sitting on a piece of coral glaring at him accusingly. Clark shifted his eyes, now slightly wringing his hands as he met the others glare.

“Uh, Diana- “

“How do you know it’s a Mer? How do you know it’s a guy Mer? You said it had slipped away before you got there.”

Clark cursed internally, eyes widening a fraction and lips slightly pursing before he schooled his expression and tried to produce a lie on the spot.

“Just an assumption on the gender, and I guessed it was a Mer because I found a shark carcass. It didn’t just leave teeth marks, it left claw marks, but only in places where it would matter. I really shouldn’t bring my assumptions into a serious conversation, thank you for catching me on that.”

He said, trying to derail her with the thanks instead of her analysing the fact that none of that information on his assumption was on his mission report.

“Huh,” Dianna said. Clark answered that too fast, there was too much reasoning with that. If he had just told her, it was an assumption, she would’ve understood and let it go. But he kept rambling about it, that was quite suspicious. Her eyes flicked to the faint scratches on his arms he had attempted to hide wrapping his arm up in seaweed.

‘Idiot probably lost,’ she mused in her head. ‘Embarrassed he went alone no doubt, and lying to cover up he couldn’t manage it alone. No point in embarrassing him, but this is vital information…’

“Anyway,” she started again, giving him a smile as she started swimming again, Clark visibly relaxed as he followed.

“You should add all that to your mission report.”

Clark looked at her, confused. Before nervously chuckling with a sheepish look. “But, Diana, it’s just an assumption. I don’t want to be wrong- “

Diana gave him a sharp look. She cared about him, but the lie was disrespect she wouldn’t take.

“I trust your judgement, Clark.” She said, voice steadily firm. “Write it, you’ve never been wrong about an assumption before.”

She was giving him a clear disapproving parent stare, one that made him adjust the seaweed covering his arms as he tried to give a normal grin.

“Thanks Di, your too good to me.”

“I know.”

The rest of the swim back was relatively normal after the tension dissipated. Clark was glad, thinking he got away with it. Meanwhile, Diana was concerned. Considering her assumption on why Clark lied, she started to worry that if Clark was this embarrassed, or worried, to talk about the black scaled creature, it must be terrifying. But she wasn’t going to bring it up. Yet. Not unless it becomes a serious concern.

She dropped Clark off at home, who swum inside his apartment and sighed as he flopped down on his couch. (slab of stone and coral). He looked to the ceiling, wondering. Wondering if he’d see Bruce again. And he did, next time he was at the reef.

after a few days Clark was assigned to reef patrol again, not before getting vigorously scolded by Arthur, as Hal filmed it, and barry watched. He was picking at the coral as he swum by, not noticing the pair of blue eyes stare at him from under a piece of coral. Nor the black scaled figure following him as he went, keeping to the shadows.

Clark did however see when Bruce flashed his scales at him, in the pattern of:

“ . _ . . ~ _ _ _ ~ _ _ _ ~ _ . _ “. (Ignore the strange swirly dash, its hard trying to write morse code D:)

Clark tilted his head but swam over to him, quite happy to see the other again. He was made to keep his distance with a defensive flash, but it was slightly closer than last time. So, Clark counted that as a win.

“Well, hi! Glad to see your back Bruce.” Clark said, offering his hand to Bruce. Bruce, who got startled by the hand a bit too close for comfort, but Clark’s hand defensively. Clark hissed, but he didn’t pull off him instantly, instead opting to let Bruce let go. If the other was clearly agitated, and definitely did not speak a lick of English, t was a bad idea to panic then make him panic. He didn’t manage to hold the wince that escaped him when the teeth sunk into his hand though. Bruce looked up at him, then back his hand tilting his head. When Clark didn’t panic, he released his bite, and backed away a few feet, staring back at Clark.

Clark saw him back off slightly and was quick to try reassure him.

“Hey- no hey its ok! I’m not hurt, just a bite. I’ve definitely had worse.”

As the blood seeped from Clark’s hand, it got into the water. Bruce sniffed at it, before looking back to Clark. Flashing his scales again.

“ . . _ . ~ _ _ _ ~ _ _ _ ~ _ . . “

Clark watched him sniff the air, before humming and tilting his head. He wasn’t sure what the other meant, but it was clear he wanted something. “What?” he asked, confused at the random flashes jut displayed to him. Bruces face scrunched up, sensing the other had no clue what he had wanted.

“ . . _ . ~ _ _ _ ~ _ _ _ ~ _ . . “

He tried to flash more pointedly, huffing when Clark looked just as lost as before. He jabbed a finger to the reef, eyes falling on a lionfish. He gestured to it pointedly, then looking back at Clark and flashing again. Same word.

“ . . _ . ~ _ _ _ ~ _ _ _ ~ _ . . “

Clarks eyes followed his gesture to the food before it clicked in his head. “oh! Your hungry?”  He asked, then smiling again. He swum to the reef and plucked a few lionfish from it before swimming back. Bruce had sat himself on a piece of coral, black scales contrasting greatly with the vibrant coral under him. Clark handed him one tentatively, relived when Bruce took it and begun to eat.

“Sooooo, that flashing means you want food huh?” Clark observed, not surprised when he didn’t get a response. “And that flashing was different then when you wanted my attention. The other one was something else, that one means food- could I write this down?”

Clark asked, pulling out his JL pad and going over to the space where he could keep personal notes. He looked at the other, who was still eating. Bruce was ignoring him in favour of his food at the moment, happily munching on the lionfish, pulling out the spindles. Clark waited for him to be finished with that one, before getting his attention. He pointed to the fish and looked back at Bruce, then gesturing to his tail.

“Can you show me the sequence of flashes for food?”

Bruce had no clue what he was talking about, but he did pick up that when he communicated with Clark, he seemed to refer to the communication as flashes. Confused, and feeling slightly patronised, Bruce flashed his tail again in the: “ . . _ . ~ _ _ _ ~ _ _ _ ~ _ . . “. sequence, going slower. To Bruce, going slower was a kind of sarcastic act, mocking Clark for needing him to re-do it. Clark had no idea of Bruces mindset, smiling at him while thinking the slow flashes were for his benefit. He wrote down the flashes and what they meant.

[Clarks Notes:]

[ how to communicate with new friend. Doesn’t speak English.]

[I call him Bruce. I don’t know his name.]

[ “ . . _ . ~ _ _ _ ~ _ _ _ ~ _ . . “. means food when he flashes like that.]

Clark put his pad down, looking back at Bruce with a smile before handing him another fish. Bruce had no idea Clark was infatuated with him. Or maybe he did. Bruce was fine with Clark’s existence as long as he kept bringing him food. This fish was tastier than fish from the trenches, and there wasn’t many fish down there at all. So, Bruce was happy to keep coming back here and get his fish while Clark took notes on him. Stupid reef mer.

Bruce gave him a look when Clark reached out but let him touch the scales on his tail. Even if begrudgingly. Clark ran his hand over the strange textured scales, moving his head slightly to see the slight purple sheen of his scales. It made the light that rippled through the ocean water slightly purple. But what was most stunning was the way they felt. They were soft but they got harder when Clark put any semblance of pressure on them. They were cool and metallic, probably made to withstand high water pressures.

He was about to speak when his pad went off with an emergency, beeping loudly. That startled Bruce and pulled away, staring at the pad for a solid second before taking off back to the darker part of the reef. Clark reached out, about to stop him but he was already long gone. He groaned, glaring at the pad on his wrist as he muted it, “Great,” he muttered, starting to swim back to base. “Just great. This better be good.”

Revenge Bruce au: part one.

Based on the 2017 movie called Revenge. It touched on less sensitive topics initially in this writing.

Bruce = 20 years.

“Alfred, its fine. I’m just going to meet him, not like a mission or anything. And besides, you said I needed to take time away from Gotham. This is a good thing!” Bruce said, throwing his bag in the boot of the taxi, looking back at his concerned butler.

Recently, Bruce met someone online. A male who was a bit older and had been talking to him for a few weeks. The two hit it off, and Bruce had been invited to a desert vacation house while this guy and the two friends he was bringing would go hunting. Honestly? Bruce was lonely. You don’t have much social life being the Batman. And the Bruce Wayne social life was painfully fake. So, he was glad he met someone who seemed to want to talk to him. Ergo naturally when he was invited, he accepted the other man’s invitation without question.

He didn’t even run a background check on this guy. And that was a stupid error.

“Master Bruce, you don’t know this man. It could be--”

“Alfred, its ok. You and Gordon know where I’m going, and he’s really nice. He listens to me. I need this, please. Ill be fine.”

“…. I expect to be texted every three days.”

---------------------------------------------------------

It had been two days since Bruce got to the vacation home. It was somewhere in Morocco, hours away from anything else. That should’ve rung alarm bells. Honestly? Bruce was just ignoring them on purpose.

The mans name turned out to be Luke, and he wasn’t bad looking at himself. Tall, dirty blond with brown eyes, and a little gritty. His friends weren’t Bruce’s favorite, but that was fine honestly. It’s not like they spoke to him, and they listened to Luke and stayed out of the bedroom. That was ok.

Bruce said on the edge of the bed, looking out at the desert. It was bare and yet caught his attention in a most primal way. He loved it. He lay back on the covers, looking up at the roof as he closed his eyes, just letting himself relax. This was nice. Away from Gotham, from responsibilities, from it all. He got to act his age; people didn’t expect things from him. He was finally relaxed-

Ding.

Bruce sat up and looked at the bedside table. Luke had left his phone on it after sex, forgetting to take it before he went hunting that first day with his friends. Bruce knew he probably shouldn’t snoop, but he was curious. He barely knew this amazing guy, after all.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Luke got back, he should’ve known the gig was up. He headed to the room with his two friends trailing behind, expecting to find Bruce lying down, or reading or something. Instead, he saw the other standing at the door frame waiting for him, holding Lukes’s phone in his hand and glaring at the other with passion.

“…. Your married?” Bruce asked, teeth gritted.

“Oh,” Luke said, breezily with a grin. “It’s ok baby, its open. I know its hard to believe, but I’m allowed to do this.” He tried to soothe, walking closer and attempting to take the phone out of Bruce’s hands.

Bruce jerked his hand away, keeping hold of the phone and taking a step back. “yeah, it’s hard to believe because it’s a lie. You lied to me!”

“I wouldn’t lie,” Luke said, holding Bruce’s shoulder. “I could never lie to you.”

“So, you wouldn’t mind if I told your wife who I am?”

……….

The room fell silent, Lukes’s expression hardening into something almost terrifying, his friends behind him had different expressions. Kyle looked resigned. He knew what happened when Luke’s partners found out and threatened. He re-loaded his gun. The other, mike looked like he pitted Bruce. He was new to the group but knew all the same.

See, Bruce should’ve run a background check on these. Because Luke was affiliated with the mafia on his wife’s side, and if she found out he was cheating on her, it was his body in a bag. So, to stop his past partners from telling, he made them take his place. And by the way the gun clicked, he knew it was Bruces turn. What they didn’t know is Bruce, refuses to die like that.

Kyle raised the gun and fired.

Bruce had seen him loading it and expected it.

He moved.

It grazed his shoulder.

He grabbed Lukes’s satchel off the bed, knowing keys were in it.

He shoved passed the stunned men.

And ran.

Bruce threw the satchel in the passenger seat of the car as he started it up. He didn’t know how to drive this one, but he’d have to figure it out quickly.

As Bruce finally got the car to move the men had taken the other, with Luke driving, Kyle in the passenger seat and mike on a motorcycle next to the car.

The problem was Bruce didn’t know where to drive. His mind raced a mile for a minute as he took off, unsure of where he was going. The car bumped along the dirt, before stalling and coming to a stop.

Bruce’s eyes widened as he cursed, hitting the wheel before catching a glimpse in the rear-view mirror and seeing them. Gaining. And fast.

Having no other choice, Bruce grabbed the satchel and ran, sprinting in the direction he was going. But he couldn’t go faster than a car. And even if he could, a cliff marked the dead end. Bruce’s head whipped around, as he saw Luke get out of the car. He held a gun but tried to go for the easy path one last time.

“Bruce, look.” He said, staring down the other trapped man, a small grin on his face. “your cute. I don’t want to kill you! So just come back, and leave. You don’t tell my wife, and I will leave you alone. Deal?” the weasel was lying.

But Bruce needed information.

“How many people have you killed before?”

“Bruce- “

“How many to keep this secret?”

“That doesn’t- “

“You’re a liar and a coward.”

“Ok that’s enough you little bitch. I gave you a chance,” Luke said, stepping forward.

Bruce stepped back. Luke would’ve continued his sentence, but he didn’t have to. As it turns out Bruce lost his footing on that ledge, eyes widening as he fell back.

Bruce felt the air whipping past him as he fell. It was second but it felt like minutes. He didn’t want to die, Alfred was right. This was a bad idea, and now he-

None of the men heard a scream, or a thump. But they heard a sickening sharp noise. It was wet, and like ripping fabric but skin. Mike walked over to the edge, curiosity getting the better of him as he looked over. He almost lost the lunch he had hunted just hours before.

Bruce was impaled on a tree, limbs hanging there as his head lolled back, blood dripping down his mouth. It was a gruesome sight to see another human being meet an end like that. But while Mike was about to be sick Luke looked over. He sighed, “that’s taken care of.” He muttered as mikes eyes fell on him incredulously.

“I need a beer. Cmon, we’ll collect the body in the morning. Leave the car he took. If anyone finds him before that, they’ll think a stupid tourist fell off. Not out problem.”

He said, before walking back to the car. Kyle nodded and got himself back into the passenger seat, marking a place on the map where they’d come back to hide the body the next day. Mike reluctantly got on his bike, the sick feeling in his stomach still ever present as he followed the other two men.

This. Was. Not. Over.

Not by a longshot.

i wrote this half asleep, sorry if its not coherent.
