Praise the worm!!!
DAY 2!! with attacks for @butcherfoxes @beezims and @imjussthereforthefanart!
The Chrome browser exists to show you ads and track where you go so that Google can show you more ads. Please stop using Chrome. Firefox is open source, and while Mozilla is not perfect, it isnât actively fucking evil the way Google is. It has a bazillion plugins, including various (FREE!) ad block plugins (I recommend uBlock Origins, which will even block YouTube ads â you can watch videos without interruptions again!). It will also function very effectively with a lot more tabs open than Chrome. Iâve got around 800 tabs open right now (not loaded, of course, except for maybe 2 dozen; itâs been a heavy browsing day), and my wife has between 2k and 3k at any time.
We are in the New Browser Wars. This time thereâs a helluva lot of money up for grabs, because a lot of it is about running those ads. Monopolies are bad for consumers.
Just go download Firefox.
Hot take but...
Maybe if snapchat didn't give a huge notification when you leave a group, then maybe I wouldn't still be in a thousand groups I don't wanna be a part of...just sayin
there hasn't been a more recent one of these, so after last night's tennocon reveals, i decided i would make it myself. choices are a combination of recent plot points and older ones that i don't recall having been on previous polls.
as usual, reblog for a wider sample size!
hey
renders i made with Tami_Taoli's models on sketchfab :33
i donât think we acknowledge enough that when children want to be treated âlike adultsâ what they really mean is âlike peopleâ
this is just my own observations of course but 90% of the time when a kid tries to get people to treat them like an adult, what they really want is the respect and acknowledgement that they associate with adulthood - because thatâs what they must give the adults. they have to give that to the adults in their lives, but the adults never give that same respect back, and so they see that difference and decide that they want to be treated âlike an adultâ
and sometimes i see parents who are like fine you want to be treated like an adult then you can work and pay rent but thatâs the exact OPPOSITE of what the kid is actually asking for. youâre just belittling them, clearly intending to punish them for daring ask for your respect, clearly intending for them to break down and beg to be âtreated like a childâ again because you purposefully twisted their wants. they ask for respect, and you give them abuse.
never, ever, ever, treat a child like a full grown adult. itâs our responsibility as adults NOT to, because they ARENT adults no matter how much they think they want to be, and itâs our job as adults to take care of them.
that said, ALWAYS treat children like people. because they ARE that. theyâre real people with real agency acting as best as they know to with what knowledge they have
itâs not a matter of kids trying to grow up too fast, itâs a matter of kids wanting to be treated like people instead of objects or pets.
(Trigger warning for abuse, electroshock therapy, torture, and ableism.)
The US court has overturned the ban on shock devices being used against disabled students, predominantly autistic students in the US.
The shock device being legalized is called the graduated electronic decelerator (or GED). This is a torture device that is used to âcorrectâ autistic behaviors / symptoms. Autistic people are shocked for stimming, and for having meltdowns, ect. This device was made popular by a behavioral center (the Judge Rosenberg Center, specifically) that is infamous for its abuse and torture of autistic / disabled patients.
(Image ID: someone is holding their arm out and resting it on a table, with their sleeve rolled up. Attached to their arm are wires, which connect to a small cube device.)
This is what the device looks like. It sends electric shocks into the victimâs skin; the victim often being restrained and held against their will. This is torture. GEDs have been reported to cause intense psychological trauma, PTSD, and physical injuries.
In March of 2020, the FDA ruled for GEDs to be banned. (Although, of course, they were still illegally used at a number of places.) This ruling has recently been appealed, and today, the US court of appeals has re-regulated the law to stop the use of GED. Sounds great, right? It would be!
... If not for a huge loophole in the wording, which basically allows this torture to continue. This device is going to have continued use on autistic students in order to âcorrect their behavior.â
Great question! You can:
Listen to and boost autistic voices to spread awareness
As-of now (July 7th), autistic activists are trying to get #StopTheShock trending on Twitter, so Tweet out the hashtag if you have Twitter
If youâre in the US, email / call your legislators
Sign this petition if youâre in the US
Follow this case and look out for updates
If Autism Speaks (known ableist hategroup) says anything about this, DO NOT BOOST IT
Thatâs all! Thank you. Reblogs are very appreciated!!
A New Hampshire Republican State Representative anonymously created the âRed Pillâ subreddit.
Wow.
This is so wholesome
