I mean I guess, but if Taurtis was in any danger Grian would take the gloves off. And he is also the god of destruction. As in he isn't scared to get into fights with the watchers or listeners or humans or demons. He will cause destruction and let the earth reclaim things but he wouldn't hesitate to kill something that poses a threat to Taurtis.

Spinning off that "Taurtis, God of Life and Grian, God of Death" submission: Taurtis was appointed by the watchers to help keep the overworld prospering and Grian in turn was appointed to keep the Nether in balance.
