Able bodied people when companies wrap everything in disposable plastics: Oh well 🤷 I guess that's just how it has to be

Able bodied people when a disabled person needs to use disposable medical equipment or pre-prepared food: B-but PLASTIC! You're singlehandedly DESTROYING the environment! This is why we should be allowed eugenics!!!!

At this point I need to tape a disclaimer to my forehead that says “if I become close enough friends to u I will have a crush on u at some point” bc I’m just a massive lesbian like that. It’s nothing personal

Please please please please please please please please give us some recommendations on where to find these treasures

The ehlers danlos syndrome person to historical costumer pipeline is or will be a thing and I shall explain why.

At some point one discovers that some sort of supportive structure around your torso feels incredibly comfortable and gives your tired muscles a rest. What’s the coolest and most non obtrusive torso bracing garment? A corset. Believe me when I say that when your torso has the structural integrity of a wet sack of jello, a tightly laced corset makes you feel like a god.

And because historical corsets tend to be more comfortable and are usually made with regular wear in mind, they are the natural choice.

Then you have the shoes. What shoes is someone with unstable ankles supposed to wear, you ask?Lace up boots, for stability. And due to their middle of the heel heel placement, historical lace up boots tend to be way more comfortable than the modern variety.Even the non healed ones, really. Couple that with the fact that Edwardian and Victorian boots are really really pretty…

And after the boots and the corset, it’s a very slippery slope.

Pretty soon you’ll be wondering how to hide your corset under your clothes for when an outer corset is not the vibe, and you’ll be buying yourself a corset cover. Or making one yourself. They’re a great starter project. But that looks weird with a fitted top so cool flowy blouse it is.

Then you realize wearing this with a skirt makes you feel intensely powerful but you don’t want to keep tripping over it so you add petticoats.

And then you realize your neck isn’t so great at holding up your head so you really need to find a hairstyle where your hair sits on top of your head instead of to the sides or to the back so that it’s balanced and you don’t get a neck ache. A high bun it is. Not too tightly, because your scalp is sensitive, but a high bun still works if you bobby-pin it in place.

And then one day, you look in the mirror and you’re dressed like Anne of Green Gables.

And you’ve never looked cooler.

A bus may have only a couple of passengers, especially at the beginning or end of its route. But let's also take fuel efficiency into account.

I hate the phrase “I never let my disability stop me” because yeah, I do. I don't push myself to go for a run. I stop myself from committing to a bunch of outings. I let my disability stop me doing things that will cause me pain, endanger me, or worsen my health. I let my disability get in the way of things I am unable to do.

By definition, there are things we can't or shouldn't do. If you think that's not inspiring enough, then fuck you.

We need to have places like bars where instead of only 18+ year olds allowed in it’s ONLY people who had fucked up childhoods so we can joke about it without running into a surprise normal who gets all sad and weird

POTS pro tip - if you need to stand up or stay standing and your blood is going to pool in your feet, squeeze all of the muscles in your legs, HARD. It will help keep blood from pooling by forcing your blood vessels to constrict. The Air Force trains their pilots to do it so they don't pass out under high g forces, so it works. If it's not working, try doing it sitting until you feel like you've got the hang of it. If it still doesn't work, at least you tried.

The cold cleanses, slower and more painfully than fire would. That’s good. Pearl wants slow and painful. She wants Scott to feel it. She wants him to tell Cleo about it. She wants them to know.

She steps in to the snow, up to her hips. Her hands rest on top. The first bits that go numb are the finger tips that once brushed up against the others’ when they passed buckets with axolotls between them. Then the fingers that once carefully untangled the flower crown Lizzie had made from Cleo’s hair while they stubbornly refused to cry, sniffling and hurt but stoic. Then the hands that Scott held once as he guided her, led her, and hands that had given him life once, twice. Her feet too, start to chill. Feet that had once been wiped on the carpet outside the front door of the cottage. Legs that had carried her with her dogs to reunite the three of them in that final session.

She sinks further into the snow, sits in it up to her neck. Feels the burn of cold on her back where Cleo had wrapped her arms around her, congratulating her after her dance floor boogey kill. The sting cuts deeply around the place on her upper arm where Scott had squeezed reassuringly before they broke off for the final four fight. It rests finally on her shoulders where she saw as a ghost but could not feel Scott clutch her body one last time before he was killed by the forces that run the games. She can’t feel them now either.

Her communicator buzzes somewhere on the floor. She ignores it. It hasn’t made her feel any better to lose the parts of her that were theirs.

the 4 genders of minecraft modders

very online queer person behind YOUR favorite mod who will eventually burn out and abandon its development

some kid with an unreadable username and zero online presence maintaining exactly one mod that bears the load of like half of the modded minecraft scene

random dude with an office job as a professional developer who singlehandedly maintains every single mod you've ever heard of

"teens are prone to tantrums and are emotionally unstable" - okay, yeah, puberty is real, and emotional regulation is a difficult skill to learn. but also. any adult person would be pissed if their opinions were disregarded, they had no say in what happens to them, their emotions and feelings were downplayed and their privacy were intruded on.

imagine how cool it would be if plurality had the visual effects it's dramatized to have in fiction. like if your body's eye colors would change as you came on and off of front. that would be wicked

Able bodied people seem to be under the assumption that if they do everything right that they’re immune to developing a chronic condition

That’s not how it works.

I can’t count the amount of times I’ve tried to explain to people that their health isn’t a sure thing, one day you can wake up sick and just never get better….

Racism in the plural community is a real problem. Racism in the medical community is a real, dangerous problem.

Pour one out for DID/OSDD systems of color that go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed because the psychiatric institution dismisses them.

Pour one out for all systems of color who feel isolated because the online community often conflates plurality with whiteness.

Pour one out for systems of color who get called racist or appropriative because their systems incorporate aspects of their own culture, but people automatically assume they must be white.

Pour one out for systems of color whose voices are silenced because of their ethnicity.

Uplift non-white systems. Talk to non-white systems, not over them.
