this makes me very very happy to see :)

A little backstory about me: I used to be absolutely terrified of the word “rape.” Even hearing “Grape” could ruin my entire day, or two, the experience was truly debilitating. It was inconvenient and embarrassing for years to be trapped under my blankets, hiding from the imaginary danger that trauma brings about.

I don’t remember when it happened, but one day, it stopped hurting so much. The mere thought used to make me shake and cry, and then it didn’t. It was gradual, but now I can say it brazenly and unfazed. And with that, I developed a new sense of power and triumph. Through surviving its wounds, I learnt to wield the tool.

So, if you ever wonder why I love to say rape so much? It’s because I beat my fear of it. And you can too. It doesn’t mean it’ll stop, but life isn’t always about those types of choices. It’s about making the best of your options.
