I Just Realized Kilgharrah Told Merlin To Do Anything And Everything In His Power To Get The Last Dragon

I just realized Kilgharrah told Merlin to do anything and everything in his power to get the last dragon egg but he didn't take he care of it, didn't take responsibility. Like wtf? Was he happy seeing how Aithusa turned out when he left her -a baby that literally just hatched out of that egg mind you- to fend for herself?? Like???? Wasn't he happy that he wasn't alone anymore?????
