do you ever think about how fanfic writers and fanartists are actually just playing pretend. that’s so whimsical
they treat the characters like toys in a toy box and make up little scenarios for them

Hey again, folks! I want to hear all of your Superman/Kryptonian biology headcanons! Here are some of my favs I’ve come across so far:
One of my favorite headcanons comes from tOOthpasteface: Superman doesn’t just hear heartbeats—he can feel them. This is thanks to a Kryptonian equivalent of ampullae of Lorenzini, the specialized pores sharks use to detect electrical signals in their environment. These pores allow him to sense not only heartbeats but also electronics, electromagnetic fields, and changes in atmospheric conditions.
This one is practically canon but still worth celebrating. Kryptonians can absorb sunlight through their cells, converting it into energy much like plants do through photosynthesis. What I love about this idea is how deeply it ties Clark to the sun—not just as a power source but as a lifeline. Plus, there’s so much room to expand this idea: Does he store solar energy in specific organelles? Does his skin change subtly under a yellow sun compared to a red one?
I’m personally just such a big fan of alien biology and wish Clark was more outwardly alien in canon. I’d love to hear more ideas so I can add them to my collection!
