always abide by the golden rule of fandom. talk shit in private and ignore things you dont like in public.
Lotta people say Dante and Vergil are both in the wrong in DMC5 and I’m sorry but. No I do not agree with that. Dante had every right to be pissed at Vergil in that game especially after he committed mass murder twice. I think blaming Dante is… well I don’t get it. He had no reason to believe Vergil could change for the better until Nero showed up and beat the shit out of him.
This is NOT Vergil hate. I love Vergil a lot and yes he’s a nuanced character I just dislike when people act like Dante is at fault for DMC5’s events.

I do think it's really impressive how Dante is able to feel like a consistent and well thought out character with a good progression despite how vastly different he can be. From full depression and emo to whacky woohoo pizza man, and none of it really feels that out of place once you've played all the games and experienced some supplemental material. Especially in 4 where you can see him recover his whimsy in real time once he realizes he has a nephew.
oomf wanted me to draw dante
save me boobilicious old man
I often see ppl think Dante doesn’t love/care about Nero when as far back as DMC4 this scene where he looks at Nero one last time fondly before leaving exists. He just thought he couldn’t be a part of Nero’s life because he thought it wouldn’t bring him happiness.
Been playing DMC 2 recently and i gotta say, this game is pretty fun actually!
Haven't started the Lucia route yet but i've been having a lot of fun playing as Dante so i don't really understand why people hate this game so much tbh
Yeah sure the enemies are kinda dumb but still the combat is pretty nice, dante looks cool as hell and you can double jump and run on walls and that's cool as hell (also Dante's design in this game is just incredible beautiful magnificent i love his outfit so much)
"dante doesn't ever shower", "dante smells like a grease pit lol"
my dude has a completely new outfit and hairstyle every game. he's worn 8000$ coats for more than half of his life. i am 100% betting he takes forever in the god damn shower and has rose shampoo. dante is vain as shit about his appearance

Another comic idea I got at 2am because I’m sleep deprived 👍
I relate to dmc 2 Dante in that I, too, only speak in grunts and the occasional 5-word sentence

still trying to figure out how to draw men and i think im getting better! tho i was too lazy to pull up refs for this so i kinda just winged it rhdtjfdgf
I realized I have free will, and if I want to play dress-up with dmc characters, I actually can, and absolutely will! So there you have it, my first medieval dress up for some of the dmc guys!
I have also realized how the entirety of dmc 4 could work so well in a medieval setting! That's some au for my soul 😌
Sometimes I remember why I never render things. It takes ages, but at least he's happy being all shiny like that. One does not simply dress up a guy in armor and not give them the sparkles ✨
DMC3 Dante getting Devil Trigger: Loses a fight and is stabbed through the chest by Vergil as a final statement of where their relationship lies. A permanent line drawn in the sand as his own brother, his only family left, rips the last memento from their mother off his neck and leaves him for dead in this mad bid for power.
Ninja Theory Dante getting Devil Trigger: Literally breaks the last chain that locked away his childhood memories of what really happened to his mother and how he ended up alone. An image of his late mother apologizes for not being able to protect him and hopes this power grants him the freedom he's been hunting for his whole life.
Netflix Dante getting his Devil Trigger: He fell out of an aired plane and got weally scawed. :(

Making the whole theme of the DMC Netflix show that "demons are actually the victims of jingoistic American military imperialism" is such a fundamental antithesis of the entire beating heart of the Devil May Cry franchise. Honestly it's exactly what I expected from a cynical western production.
The Devil May Cry series is about how humanity is superior because humanity is capable of love. Demons may have power and strength which allows them to assert their will over the world and cause suffering. But humanity will always overcome, humanity is capable of more than demons ever will be. Because devils never cry. Only humanity has the capacity for love that allows them to feel sorrow at the loss of their loved ones. Only humanity has the drive to self sacrifice in the name of protecting those we cherish and value.
The reason Dante and Nero are the badasses that they are is because of their human genetics, not their demonic blood. Vergil loses because he tried rejecting his humanity and just embracing his demonic lineage in the name of striving for more power. Vergil loses his soul and is enslaved and humiliated because he pushes his only remaining family away, he forgot that the very reason he became obsessed with power is because he wanted to be able to protect Dante the way he couldn't on the day they lost their home. And Vergil is only redeemed when he is reclaimed by his son, and has familial love forced onto him whether he wanted it or not. The theme song of DMC5 is called LEGACY for a reason, because the ties that bind for better and for worse will always be a part of you. And it is the characters HUMANITY that makes that the case.
Family and love is the FOUNDATIONAL theme of the Devil May Cry series from the very beginning. This isn't even very depthful literary analysis, the games are incredibly blunt with these themes.
This is incredibly surface level reading. And yet somehow the creators of the Netflix show either didn't get it, or deliberately disregarded it. Either way, god awful show. If you enjoy it, you CANNOT say that you also enjoy the video games. They are mutually exclusive. What exactly do you like about the games, if you derive ANY enjoyment whatsoever from this show that uses the source material as toilet paper?
At least have the integrity to admit you just think the video games are stupid and the show is superior because it isn't a video game. At least then I could respect that. Don't try and pull this "I enjoy both" bullshit. Bullshit as in you're fucking lying.
