Finished Squid Game 2 And I'm Obsessed. It Got Me So Hooked I Literally Cried So Hard At The Most Random

Finished Squid Game 2 and I'm obsessed. It got me so hooked I literally cried so hard at the most random moments because of how impactful and meaningful everything felt and the metaphors for capitalism and class and omggg. Season 1 was great but this one just meant more for me and I'm so excited for this thing to become my new source of dopamine for the unforeseen future.

Dolores Umbridge, who was a quiet, insecure and unpleasant child in her first years, was one day in her 6th year paired up with Regulus Black. They had a similar work ethic, and that’s where their quiet camaraderie started. But since she wasn’t a pureblood and wasn’t much to look at, he kept to himself and mostly ignored her presence.

But in their 7th year, everything changed when they had a casual encounter that led to a deeper talk, where they both realized their ideas for the wizarding future were the same and their passion was just as intense. They talked for hours about Voldemort, exchanged ideas on the many ways Muggleborns and half-breeds should be subjugated, and developed mutual crushes.

Regulus, whose passion and intellect weren’t always reciprocated and who was a lonely boy, found solace and friendship in Dolores, and they both enjoyed each other’s presence while it lasted.

Then Regulus died, and Dolores’s heart hardened with a mission to keep going and succeed at what she had dreamed about with Regulus. She suppressed her pain, became a Ministry worker, and pledged to make the lives of half-breeds and Mudbloods worse. Her loneliness, and the only ounce of deep connection she had ever been given—whom she now grieved for—kept driving her actions.

I'd like to think Voldemort has an oedipus complex.

Marauders are interesting because of Snape, Remus and Sirius. The sisters aren't really interesting because they don't have a complex personality in the books. Bellatrix is mostly seen acting crazy and Narcissa/Andromeda are only known for like few traits. What would we write about them when we don't know who they are?

But I agree with your last point lol.

the black sisters are equally as interesting as the marauders/lily if not more so but y'all don't gaf because they aren't brooding men you can ship together arbitrarily..in this essay i will

and infinitely more fucking interesting than the wizard nazis y'all want to redeem so bad

Would you say that calling groping sexual assault is disrespectful to rape victims? Because if so, I'd say the real disrespect lies in downplaying assault rather than calling it what it is.

Also, in the grand scheme of things, yes, Snape has committed worse actions than James. However, in an isolated Snape vs. James scenario, James was worse. When Snape fans discuss this, they primarily focus on how James treated Snape and the consequences of that - how James alienated and abused Severus, how Snape’s poverty, neglect, and lack of social advantages led him to seek power in terrible places because they were the only spaces that accepted him (but also groomed him), how the incident with Sirius likely caused Snape to resent authority figures, and how that resentment pushed him further into the Death Eater circle. The discussion isn’t necessarily about who became the worse person in the end, but rather about James’s actions towards Snape and how it probably affected Snape’s trajectory.

And didn’t Minerva send kids into the Forbidden Forest and leave Neville to sleep outside the common room? That’s more than just being strict.

can snape stans for the love of god please shut the fuck up

here are some things i’ve GENUINELY seen snape stan’s say today and i have receipts:

1. that lily only fell in love with james because he gave her a love potion. i…i don’t even know what to say other than that this is obscene.

2. that james’ actions could be compared to what death eaters do. i’m sorry, has james ever killed or tortured anybody purely due to their race/ethnicity? does james think that all minorities deserve to die or be controlled? and do i need to remind people that snape literally WAS an avid blood supremacist and death eater?? jesus fucking christ…

3. like 3000 people saying over and over that james sexually assaulted snape. first of all, comparing pantsing to sexual assault is extremely disrespectful to anybody who’s been s/a’d, myself included. second of all, that only happened in the movies, dipshits. clearly you didn’t read the books if you obsess over that argument.

4. that lily, sirius, remus, james, and peter are all worse people than snape. i’m sorry, did any of them grow up to torment innocent children? did any of them grow up to find pleasure in the pain and suffering and fear of little kids, using their position as a TEACHER to express prejudice? did any of them grow up to use a child’s DEAD DAD’s actions from DECADES AGO to justify cruelty? peter grows up to be awful, but the other four make childhood mistakes that they learn and grow from in adulthood. snape never learns and grows. he just gets worse, and that’s nobody’s fault but his own.

5. that minerva and hagrid are just as bad as snape. first of all, hagrid never discriminated against students for their race or identity and neither does minerva. hagrid and minerva are tough but fair. they don’t enact cruelty. when they see bullies or cruel students get what’s coming to them, then they turn away because they’re witnessing natural consequences. i won’t deny that minerva and hagrid have favorites but they aren’t blatantly cruel to people who aren’t favorites and their only acts of cruelty are ones in which the students ACTUALLY INSTIGATE something worth punishing. snape punishes neville for existing. he punishes hermione for daring to participate in class. and malfoy goes off scott free because he’s a pure blood.

moral of the story, snape stans are delusional. if y’all weren’t so INSANE, then maybe i’d actually like snape. but you are. so i don’t, and i doubt i ever will!

Yeahhh I wanted to rank him second, but then I realized he only did all that to avoid being possibly tortured. He was under pressure to succeed from two psychos—his aunt and Voldemort—so I have more sympathy for him. He was never a physically violent person before that, he mostly stuck to verbal taunts and petty bullying. That’s why I think the things he did in sixth year weren’t something he actually wanted to do. He had a Dark Lord ordering him, and those who disobeyed the Dark Lord were punished.

Personal ranking of HP characters based on who did the most to least shitty things during their school years:

1. Tom Riddle: murders, student endangerment, using a deadly creature as a weapon, framing an innocent for his crimes, manipulation of others, encouraging delinquency, school rule breaking and creating a horcrux.

2. Sirius Black: attempted murder, frequent harrasment and bullying of a vulnerable student, intimidation, school rule-breaking, illegal animagi transformation, unauthorized surveillance of staff and students, using an illegal spell, risking his friend's future, belittling his friend.

3. James Potter: attempted sexual assault, frequent bullying and harrassment of a socially vulnerable student, hexing of other students, coercion, threatening, school rule-breaking, illegall animagi transformation, unauthorized surveillance of staff and students, using an illegal spell.

4. Draco Malfoy: multiple attempted murders, affiliation with a terrorist group, repeated use of hate speech, abuse of power, use of an unforgivable curse, school rule-breaking, bullying and intimidation of others, assisting malicious prosecution of an innocent animal.

5. Peter Pettigrew: enabling and participation in rule breaking and unethical behavior, bullying, illegal animagi transformation, unauthorized surveillance of staff and students.

6. Severus Snape: school rule-breaking, use of hate speech against his best friend, affiliation with an extremist group that hates his best friend and practices dark magic on students, invention of a dark spell, ignoring Lily's valid concerns about the company he kept.

7. Hermione Granger: kidnapping and blackmailing of Rita Skeeter, assisting identity fraud, illegal brewing of a potion, theft of ingrediences, school rule-breaking, arson, assisting a prison break, disfigurement of another student, physical assault, unlawful entry of the Ministry, emotional neglect in favor of appeasing Dumbledore.

8. Harry Potter: attempted involuntary manslaughter, physical assault, identity fraud, school rule-breaking, international law violations, aiding a fugitive's escape, theft of ingrediences, invasion of privacy, spying and stalking, unauthorized surveillance of staff and students, unlawful entry of the Ministry.

9. Remus Lupin: continuous enabling of rule breaking and unethical activities, avoidance of responsibilities and duties, unauthorized surveillance of staff and students, allowing a student be harrassed.

10. Fred & George: endangering of students through reckless behavior, unethical experimentation on underage students, school rule-breaking, unauthorized surveillance of staff and students.

11. Ron Weasley: international law violation, identity fraud, assisting illegal brewing, theft of ingrediences, school rule-breaking, emotional neglect in favor of appeasing Dumbledore, betrayal of trust, unlawful entry of the Ministry, enabling of reckless behavior.

12. Lily Evans: dismissing her friend’s struggles, classist behavior towards a vulnerable student, close association with individuals known for illegal behavior and immoral actions towards her ex friend.

The reason some individuals who committed more crimes than others are ranked lower is that I took intent and ethical justifications into consideration, as well as my personal feelings about their actions. Hopefully, I haven't missed anything important.

Not true. If you read carefully it is not hard to correctly assume the canon personalities of our characters. Sirius, who is described to have his hair falling elegantly without seeming to try, who when he's bored wishes it were the full moon despite knowing his friend is a werewolf and saying this unprovoked—bored. Then acting like a predator sensing his prey the moment he sets eyes on Severus. He was described to be one of the best students, constantly in pair with James, hexed a student in his 7th year and many more. He also let Severus into the shack without telling him what's there, endangering his life and risking Remus's future. As an adult he doesn’t appear to be remorseful about it. Remus frowns but does nothing else to stop Sirius and James from harrassing and humiliating Severus. He can be self depricating about his condition, but it's clear there's resentment towards Sirius when he says 'you might', even if he never brings it up. Peter is cheering and loving it when he sees Severus being harrassed. He openly admires James when he's playing with the snitch. He seems stressed about exams and his performance which suggest confidence issues. He doesn’t really defend himself when Sirius mocks him. Lily appears to be an emotional person, but also non confrontational because we often see her walk away from a conflict, she merely gives a "bad look". She raises her wand at James only after many attempts at reasoning with him, so she prefers to talk rather than be physical. She was described as vivacious, smart and cheeky and we can see her being able to have fun instead of caring for rules too much. She is curious and asks questions. She has tolerance for difficult personalities. There is so much more you can deduce from the text, it isn’t that difficult. So please drop the notion that "canon is non-existent" because we do have a canon foundation, the only problem is that people are lazy to engage with it critically and instead prefer to pretend their fanon ideas have canon validity. Just admit you like au's and ooc-ness.

ppl be posting shit like "I miss canon Marauders"

Babes, there is no "canon" Marauders. Most of the shit ya'll think is canon, are just old headcanons that used to be widespread before other (usually queerer) headcanons gained popularity.

There is so little information about the "canon" Marauders - and even the info we have cannot be trusted because it's usually memories, influenced by a character's bias - that trying to make a somewhat comprehensive character out of the given material is impossible, let alone 4 characters.

Everything is fanon. Everything is headcanon. And that's the beauty of this fandom.

(Ofc my favourite part is when something actually is canon via the books or movies, and people reject it as fanon.)

Yep. Same way when people try to say that Lily was like Harry and that they had similar personalities whilst Harry and James shared the looks. What a lazy perspective. Personality is not shaped by genetics. It is formed by life circumstances and upbringing, and those significantly differed with Lily and Harry. Lily grew up loved, in a safe household, with an identity of her own. She lived a safe life, at least till the end of her school years. Harry was in survival mode since the day his parents died. He grew up physically and emotionally neglected, abused and had no sense of identity. Later in life, his identity was forced upon him by the whole wizarding world. He was forced to fight and die. He was groomed to be a soldier and to have a survival and hero-like mentality. Harry and Lily might share their kindness or good heart, but their personalities, priorities, motivations, and behavior/thought patterns couldn't be more different.

harry potter is NOT james potter.

I love parallels. I love people reminding others of those they've lost along the way.

But Harry Potter is not James . And that is so vital to his entire character.

When people see Harry, they see James. They see a James who sees the world through Lily's eyes. When they see Harry, they don't see Harry.

And that is so vital to his entire being. It's vital to how people see Harry. The people that didn't know James, see the Boy-Who-Lived.

The people who did, who were close to Harry, to James, to Lily. They see James and Lily Potter. They see the people who died, people they were close to, people they miss every day but will never see again.

Remus, Sirius, Snape, McGonagall.

At first, they see James and Lily. And then when they meet him - apart from Snape- they quickly realise he is anything but.

Harry is not arrogant, rich, spoilt. He doesn't have an ego, he doesn't play pranks, he isn't a chaser, he doesn't pick fights.

Harry isn't exceptionally bright at everything he does, he isn't inconceivably forgiving for those who don't deserve it.

He is not Lily and James.

When peole write Harry as a golden retriever, as effortlessly good at everything, they aren't writing about Harry.

Harry who grew up not wanted. Harry who grew up believing something was wrong with him. Harry who was forced into the wizarding world with no knowledge. Harry who is as stubborn as a mule,. Harry who is loyal to a fault, who forgives those he loves, Harry who isn't his parents.

He has traits of them, their anger, their ability to love, and much much more.

BUT Harry Potter isn't them. He isn't the 'best of them both' he isn't James or Lily or Sirius or Regulus.

Harry Potter is Harry. Just Harry.

And that is why he doesn't get along ith Snape. That's why McGonagall believes Harry dragged Neville out for a joke in first year.

When people see Harry, they don't see Harry. And by writing Harry as somebody else, or as 'so-and-so's child' you're not doing the character justice.

'I want a complex character with complex relationships'

'i want an angry character'

'i want to read a book that makes me think'

you couldn't even handle Harry Potter.

I loathe Molly Weasley bashing and idk why...it always makes me uncomfortable. Even if I like Hermione and Ron who also get bashed often, with Molly, it's something different.

I hate Alan Rickman's face. He's not Snape! He's too old and, as someone who always saw Snape as oddly attractive, too ugly! (Ironically)
