Wow this is awesome. A little Elsa Danny.
Okay hear me out but Danny singing Let It Go. He has the ice powers and everything. He could just be messing around maybe singing into a hairbrush when he throws his hand up and ice grows everywhere.
Extra props if it’s just him randomly losing control like he did in the beginning of the show. Then he’d really be Elsa.
I just imagine him going to school trying to pretend everything he touches isn’t turning into ice. Actually that could make pretty good angst…
I know someone’s brought this up but like, according to phanon Danny knows a lot of really powerful ghosts? Can you imagine him just casually namedropping Clockwork or Pandora and every ghost around him just freezing.
Or better yet, Danny just deciding to absolutely mess with Vlad who’s convinced they don’t exist.
Some of the best Naruto angst is seeing a really really cute comic or snippet or anything like that, and then the end hits you in the face by showing you that someone is in infinite tsukuyomi and I think the DP fandom should start doing that with Nocturn
Aw Danny’s parents accepted him and he doesn’t have to hide his half ghost side anymore? Nocturn.
Dash gets to hang out with his best buddy, Phantom? Nocturn.
Vlad gets his college friends back and they’re okay with him being a half ghost? Nocturn.
Dani is accepted by the Fenton family? Nocturn.
Something I really appreciate about TOA that I don’t see get talked about much is that I never get the sense that Apollo finds Lester ugly.
For all that he complains about the body he’s stuck in, I never got the feeling that it came from a distaste for Lester himself. When he sees Lester’s traits reflected in others, like Meg being chunky, he is completely unaffected by it. Finds it charming, even. (In fact, the only times I can remember him having Opinions about how someone looks is when they’ve chosen something about their appearance that he either approves or disapproves of, like a tacky jacket/hair cut or when he finds someone attractive. The only time I can remember him calling anybody ugly was when he pointed out that Dionysus was choosing to look as ugly as possible to piss of Zeus, which is a statement of fact and doesn’t necessarily mean he thinks that Dionysus’ form is actually ugly. He makes no mention of finding it so before or after that line. It’s a statement of fact that Dionysus is choosing a form that either he or Zeus finds ugly to piss of their dad.)
The thing about Lester is that he is so devastatingly mortal. He has flab and acne and no upper body strength and his voice squeaks when he’s nervous and he sweats a lot and he has a silly name and messy, curly hair that’s impossible to tame. He is the Most Teenager To Ever. There is no godly blood running through his veins, no powers he can call upon. If Apollo were to run into him in the street, I don’t think he’d pay him much mind. He’d probably just think, “sweet kid”, and move on. If he got to know him, I think Apollo would adore him because that’s just who rrverse!Apollo is. He loves mortals despite himself, flaws and all. He’d argue against anything bad Lester had to say about his own appearance and mean every word.
The problem is that it’s Apollo in this body. Apollo, The Golden Child, the perfect son, a God. His distaste for this body is because Lester is so devastatingly mortal and imperfect. Apollo has to be perfect, he has to be shiny and pretty and strong because he has nothing else to offer otherwise.
And.. I dunno, there’s something about Apollo hating the things that draw him to others when it’s him. The flaws that he tears apart in himself he finds endlessly charming on others, or he thinks that they have better reasons for why they have them, or he thinks they have enough positive traits to counteract them. The positive things that he hides deep enough that even the reader can’t see right away, like his kindness and genuine desire to understand and connect with everyone around him, that he’s shocked to find directed at him in turn.
That Apollo accepting himself and reclaiming his personhood leads to him being comfortable with being Lester, imperfect and mortal as he is. That he takes that imperfection back with him to Olympus… I dunno man I’m Emotional. Also it’s just plain nice that Lester is never treated as ugly for looking like a normal ass teenager, even by the guy stuck in this body. That’s neat.
Or maybe I’m just rambling and this means nothing at all and I’m reading too far into Blorbo from my books.
All three halfas are slightly different brands of halfa.
Danny is the closest thing you can get to a classic halfa. He died and his soul only went halfway before it got stuck between life and death, unable to fully move into the afterlife because Danny is still alive and unable to move back to the living world because Danny still technically died. A true liminal being that is stuck in the crossing point between life and death. In living and dead forms.
Vlad is a bit closer to some kind of undead creature. As he suffered in the hospital with ecto-acne, he fully died multiple times, only for the ectoplasm fused to his body and still developing core inside him to forcibly pull him back to the living world before he could enter the afterlife. Eventually, the constant tug-of-war between Vlad’s human body failing and developing ghost form accidentally keeping him alive stopped when his core became fully functional, and Vlad got completely stuck between life and death as well. He’s still a liminal being like Danny, and his soul is still in between life and the afterlife just like Danny, but the constant back and forth between being alive and dead before he officially became a halfa has left him as a type of reanimated corpse, at least in human form.
Ellie is also different from the rest because they were never alive or dead in the first place. They were simply created already in between life and death. They have always been and will always be a liminal being, and there is no point in time when they weren’t. Like a proper eldritch abomination.
Common misconception: “Damian doesn’t give a shit about people/is heartless/hard to understand.” WRONG!!! *incorrect buzzer noise*
Damian gives too much of a shit, in fact! Every reaction, every action, he has is because he gets emotional! (And then processes those emotions in non-“normal kid” ways.) He’s pretty easy to understand even, but people’s perceptions of him always range in the negative rather than positive so they complicate things + Damian obscuring what little he can behind League-isms and quick jabs/sarcasms. (Still, it doesn’t take people like Tim or Dick long to clock his insecurities/“need to be accepted.”)
The real problem Damian has is 1) bad first impressions 2) his reluctance to appear vulnerable, at a cost 3) good old parental (mommy/daddy) issues + child of divorce vibes
This is the best take. Although that might be the love of space talking. I can imagine him taking a week or few to just watch space. I mean it was his dream to go to space one day. This might not have been how he imagined it but, hey, he’s there sooner than expected and he doesn’t even need a space suit.
i saw another post saying that Danny's parents wouldn't bury him if he died, they would launch his body into space. and I think that would be awesome first of all. but consider this
instead of dying completely forever, the portal accident would make him a halfa like usual. but for some reason, he actually dies all the way and stays dead for a while before coming back as a halfa. so what i'm saying is danny wakes up in fucking outer space after thinking he died and now has to figure out what the hell is going on
*the forever young au*
I just think it’s neat.
Or he gets taken in by the stars. Imagine having celestial bodies as pseudo parents. I’m kinda imagining that one scene from been ten when he was alien x.
But like, he eventually gets back to earth and can still communicate with them. First of all, that’s sounds awesome but also, like, everyone thinks he’s psychic or something because he just knows everything about everyone. The stars told him what people were doing.

I love fics where the Bats are confronted with the fact that they don't really know each other as well as they may have thought. Not in an angsty way, but in the way you kinda know your sibling has hobbies and friends on a technical level but don't realize the fact that he is a different person outside of the family (and in this case vigilante) setting. Some examples:
Steph always gets Damian drawing materials that he's very excited for but has no idea the kid is a weeb until she catches him drawing Cheese Vikings fanart in a manga style. Damian doesn't understand where the surprise is coming from, that's how he's always drawn. Steph shows him her cosplay pictures (she does love a good characterization) and they end up going to comicon together.
Jason at a club with some friends and he sees Tim across the room having the time of his life with his friends. They're both equally shocked at the fact that the other has friends outside of their teams and Jason gets hit with the realization that Tim is just another teenager (kinda like him, he's 20 tops) and they're both underage drinking.
Duke having his mind blown away at the fact that Dick is actually amazing at fighting games. He kicks his ass in Mortal Combat and smash bros and he actually knows how to do combos. Dick is equally taken aback by Duke's perfectly aesthetic and super organized Animal Crossing island and begs him to let him have some of his rare flowers for his own place.
Cass and Bruce making faces each time they're reminded the other is a human being with human needs. It doesn't help that they're awake at really weird hours and have caught the other making the walk of shame into the manor one too many times. The painfully awkward eye contact, the vow to never talk about it.
I think anyone that studies medicine with Damian would lowkey hate his ass.
Not in a mean way, but in a petty why-aren't-you-struggling-like-me type of way. I mean, thanks to Robin and the league Damian is light years ahead of everyone on terms of experience and it would show.
Half the class is puking their guts out the first time they see a patient with an open fracture. Damian has been there, done that, seen that and worse. He's eating m&m's in the back.
They're all practicing making sutures until late. Damian is like "No, I don't need to join you. I could suture with my eyes closed" and then when someone is like "prove it, rich-boy" that mf actually blindfolds his eyes and sutures perfectly using four different techniques.
He also passes everything with flying colors! Because of course, the guy can't just be rich, good looking and famous, he has to be smart too.
And it just gets worse when he starts his actual residency.
Nothing shakes him! Thirty hour shifts? He doesn't even yawn. Extreme stress during a surgery gone awry? Damian is the one telling the other members of the surgical team to stay calm. Violent patient? They don't even get to call security, Damian has the guy pinned already.
And it would be easier to not get jealous of him if he somehow was a souless blood sucking asshole. But Damian is a good person, awkward and standoffish but always willing to help. He's there for whatever people need. He aids nurses, listens to patients, conforts victims. He sits with people for the bad news and when someone dies he gets this sad faraway look that shows he cares.
And it's just so unfair.
