The United Nations designated this day to recognize all of the vitally important facets of global forestry: sustainable forest management; biodiversity conservation; and contributing to the prosperity, well-being of current and future generations.
In America, the Bureau of Land Management manages about 65 million acres of forest and woodlands, protecting wildlife habitat, maintaining clean water and practicing sustainable timber harvesting, to name just a few aspects of its forest management plan.
