hellooo! i'm just stopping by to request a prompt similar to Conan Gray's song "Heather". One where you've got this crush on him and the feelings seem to be reciprocated, and this flirty banter is going on between you two, but suddenly there's somebody else in the picture. a n g s t please. i want my feelings to be hurt
Another a n c i e n t request from years past. The name wasn't specified, so I had chosen Nishinoya bc he's a lil cutie:
The bandaid
Yn doesnât want to acknowledge that Noyas moved on in high school, but then she sees him around Kiyoko.Â
The bandaid was ripped off. You couldnât lie to yourself anymore. He didnât like you. Maybe he never did, or maybe he used to, right now...no.
Okay, so yn likes him and they flirt so she thinks he likes her back
Then they both move on to Karasuno, where Kiyoko comes into the picture and BAM, no more yn
Nishinoya doesnât flirt with her or anything, instead talking to her like a normal person before bounding off at the sight of Kiyoko.
Yn enters the class with noya and Tanaka and hears them talking about the âabsolute babeâ that is Kiyoko. Yn greets Noya and he says hi before rambling on about Kiyoko
You thought he liked you....
(this is gon be a long one sry!!) but could i get a mako (lok) x fem hybrid reader where she is a hybrid of a human and a dragon (n sheâs a airbender) n her kind has brought despair to most people in the past so they treat her like sheâs unwanted but lin basically takes her in as her child then she gets like hurt really badly in battle,, sry if itâs confusing or anything!! i thought of this at like 2am so sry if itâs stupid

A/N: Honestly, this is one of the best things Iâve ever written. Thank you so much for requesting it, as it made me feel a lot more confident in my abilities. This idea was great, so donât feel bad about it! I made it headcanons, but it turned into a scenario anyway, so I hope you enjoy! (Side note: Thanks for 1.5k followers!)
Word count: 2485
As a hybrid, you were used to the abuse. Abandoned on your streets by horrified parents, you knew how it felt to be abandoned and alone, hated for no reason. The horrible things your ancestors did somehow reflected onto you as you tried to live in the streets of Republic City.
Fighting for food or territory on the streets was always hard; people would take one look at you, see the telltale shifting eyes of a dragon hybrid, and scream at you till you ran for the hills. On your back was only your stolen airbending staff and your ability to shapeshift to keep you alive.
It was on a cold winter night that Lin found you at the age of fourteen, shivering and half-dead, with your eyes shifting rapidly with a plea to change forms to survive. You refused, and barely conscious, you had no will to fight when the Chief of Police led you back to her own home.Â
From then on, it was like you had a mother again. Though she was hardened to most emotions and rarely ever provided a true warmth, she loved you in her own way. There were times when she would scold you to tears, only to come home later with a small charm or treat as an apology.Â
She taught you how to use your abilities as best as she could, scouring up airbending scrolls and researching books in the cityâs library to learn more about your kind. Lin was eager to be a mother, no matter how much she would deny it in front of others. Deep down, she wanted to make up for her own motherâs mistakes, and in doing so, she became fiercely protective over you. Boys, school, even the occasional social interaction kept Lin on the tips of her toes, wanting to keep you safe but also wanting you to become a strong young woman.Â
It was four years later that you met Mako, and he was almost as aloof as Lin. Every time he saw you, he would either greet you formally with a head nod or completely ignore your existence.Â
You spent your pastime at the police station, reading through cases or reorganizing files, doing whatever you could get your hands on really. In these times, thatâs when Mako would watch you from the corner of his eye. Your eyes would flutter and gleam with excitement as you read through criminalsâ stories, and heâd be lying if he said it wasnât adorable.Â
In the pit of his chest, he felt an urge to talk to you, get to know you better. So greetings turned into personal questions. Questions turned into lunchtime conversations. Lunchtime conversations turned into dates, and dates turned into a relationship.Â
As the first guy you had ever really talked to, you were kind of nervous around him. Blushes and anxious glances werenât uncommon on your end, but Mako loved to see them.Â
One day, he returned from a particularly dangerous mission and stomped into the station looking like a mess. His hair was ruffled, his uniform was covered in dirt and dust, and his eyes were darting around in a frantic manner. It was only when they landed on you that you figured out what he was looking for. Not saying a word, he marched towards you and cupped your face in his hands. Your mouth opened in question, but before you could speak, he pressed his lips to yours in a passionate, desperate first kiss.Â
Though Lin wasnât particularly pleased about the two of you, she had grown to admire how protective Mako was of you. Him being a skilled firebender only helped her feel more reassured. You, meanwhile, had grown tired of their coddling.Â
Both of them treated you like a baby bird that had fallen out of the nest. Whenever someone threw you dirty glances in the street, both of them had a nasty habit of glaring and sneering. Mako is never averse to throwing a ball of fire at someone who is particularly troubling.Â
âI can handle myself.â
âI know, I know.â
But did they?
You wanted to prove yourself. Show that as a trained airbender who had fought for her life tooth and nail on the streets, you could handle taking care of yourself when it mattered. So one night, you joined them on a mission.Â
âYouâre not coming.â
âThe hell Iâm not! I can take care of myself-- Iâm not a little girl anymore!â
Mako kept silent as you argued with Lin, but his teeth gritted at the thought of you being in harmâs way. If you were coming, there was no way in hell he was going to let something happen to you.Â
âFine. You can come. But donât say I didnât warn you.â
Your eyes widened and you turned to your boyfriend with a victorious grin, only for it to falter at the sight of him avoiding your gaze and leaving the room.Â
You wanted to ask, but deep down you already knew what he would say. Yes, you loved that he cared so much for you and your safety, but you really didnât want Debby Downer to ruin your excitement for your first mission. After Linâs reluctant acceptance, Mako avoided you like the plague, only acknowledging your existence with an outstretched hand behind him as you and the rest of the squad of police snuck up to the criminal activity.Â
It was a gang, and one you had learned of quite a bit during your adolescent years in the cold city. They were benders trying to overthrow the government, starting first with robbing small homes and moving up to threatening local businesses with a âsafety tax.â
âI can do this, I can do this, I can do this,â you breathed out, practically buzzing with excitement behind a frustrated Mako. In the sunlight of what was only twelve noon, you could see the tension between his shoulders so much that it urged you to lodge a stick between the blades. You didnât, but God did you want to.Â
âGet down!â
Your squadron had been spotted, peering out from behind an alley wall and peeking in on what was the gangâs main leaders divvying up their most recent haul.
Fire almost singed your skin before Mako tugged you to the ground, forcing your head against the pavement while he shot back his own flames. Lin, who had been at the front of the squad, had charged into the thick of it, arms raised and ready to fight.Â
There were about fifteen enemies in all, and with your group of ten soldiers-- excluding you-- Mako felt like they could take them.Â
Without warning, he rose to his feet and dashed into the fight breaking out in the intersection between four lines of buildings. The scent of blood and smoke hit you like a wave of nausea as soon as you lifted your head and scrambled to your feet.Â
Câmon, YN, itâs your chance! Letâs do this!
Running into the battle was like diving into a murky pool headfirst. You should have known the water would be shallow.Â
The pavement beneath your feet rumbles and lifts, taking you and your yelp along with it. Just before it crashes into the nearest building, you tap your staff once and take flight, soaring through the air while searching for the nearest predator.Â
A man that seemed ten times larger than you blasted a line of fire right towards your form, but you blew it right back into his face with a laugh.Â
âHaha, howâd you like that!â
When your feet hit the ground, you jumped into action. A man-- a waterbender according to the sliver of ice that almost impaled your stomach-- came at you first. You twisted your hands and twirled your staff just enough that a gush of wind pushed him back into an alley dumpster, knocking him unconscious at the slightest contact.Â
âDamn, Iâm good! Can anyone explain why Iâm so good?â You beamed, jabbing the butt end of your wooden staff into another mobster that tried to sneak up behind you. He toppled into his friend like dominoes, and just when you pounced over to land the final blow-- oh.
Ouchie
A white, hot bubble of pain burst in your chest, forcing you to let out a bloodcurdling scream. Your eyes flickered, narrowing and widening uncontrollably. No, not here!
âDirty hybrid piece of shit! Go back to hell where you belong!â
Evidently, this gang member had done his research. As a shifter, there was a little nick right along your spine, just below where your wings would grow, that was almost like a failsafe. This man had bullseyed it like no other.Â
Your nervous system tingled enough to leave you paralyzed, dropping to the floor like dead weight and twitching face-first in your own puddle of pain. The only things you could do now were blink and whimper, but you cried out brokenly when he dug the pick of ice deeper into your back.Â
âYNNN!â
The infuriated roar of your name almost distracted you from the liquid seeping out and painting the concrete a deep red. A wave of heat, so quick and harsh it blew the hair stuck to the back of your neck away and up into your face.Â
Groans and screams of pain accompanied what could only have been the sounds of people being burned alive. A mewl of fright left your mouth at the sight of a charred body collapsing right across from your turned head. From the smell of it, that man was a little past well-done.
âYN!â Hands patted your face and felt down your body before their owner grunted at the feeling of cooling blood. âYN! Can you breathe? Please, say something!â
Makoâs face appeared in your blurring vision as he pressed two fingers in your neck, feeling the panic-stricken pulse.Â
âLIN, GET HELP! CALL SOMEONE!â
The shout was so loud, so cracked up with fear that it was almost painful to listen to.Â
Makoâs thumb then rubbed your cheek in what he mustâve thought was a comforting manner. Instead, you only cringed at the feeling of his uncontrolled body temperature making your forehead break a sweat.Â
âYouâre gonna be okay,â he cooed, but his orange eyes betrayed the words. Itâs not that he thought they were wrong, itâs that he hated only getting to hope they were right.Â
âMako,â you whispered, disgusted at the mindless drool that pooled out after.Â
âShh, YN, youâre gonna be okay. Iâm not losing you.â
âMako,â you pressed, as loud as you could muster with your face weighed down against the scraping concrete. âI love you, okay?â
âNo, YN, donât say it like that.â You understood how he felt. With the way you said it, it sounded more like a goodbye than a confession.Â
âIâm sorry.âÂ
Then the darkness consumed you.
~~~ (oops, this turned into a scenario)
Not-so-silent whispers tugged you out of your sleep like a fish on a hook. The first thing you felt was nothing.Â
Itâs true. Your body was numb from all feeling, even as you blindly waggled your toes and fingers. Then you opened your eyes and hissed at the blinding light that always accompanied a hospital room.Â
Tingles, pricks like sharp nails filled your limbs as you moved them more and more, and when you turned your head to find the source of the whispers, you found another pressed against the cushion of your stiff bed.Â
Mako was sound asleep, the idea given away by the steady inhales and exhales that forced their ways through the tissue-like material of your mattress every few seconds. And just when your fingers prickled too, you noticed his hand was up on the bed and was grasping yours tightly.Â
You didnât care enough to search through your surroundings for more; instead, you settled for smiling and reaching your other hand over to dip into his dark hair.Â
A sudden rip of pain spread through your back at the movement, and you couldnât hold back the yelp that came along for the ride. Without another word, Mako was up at attention, sitting with a straight back in his chair as his other hand slammed down on the bed. Two more bodies appeared on your other side, one of which being Lin.Â
âYN, are you okay?!âÂ
âYouâre never doing that again!â
Makoâs concerned face and Linâs stern but worried one both added to the growing headache that pierced right through your temples.Â
âUgh, Iâm fine, Iâm fine. Just gimme some space, you guys.â
Neither seemed too eager to please, as they both stayed tight exactly where they were.Â
âYN,â a gentler, calmer tone caught your eye, and a doctor just about Linâs age gave you a pleasant smile, âhow are you feeling?â
Where Linâs skin was smooth and unmarked, the doctorâs was creased with years of practiced smiles and reassuring looks.Â
âJust about as good as a sack of shit. Do I look as pretty as I feel?â
With a patient chuckle, the doctor dismissed the question and hopped right into things. Daily rewraps around the wound, combined with a bullet-biting pinch of disinfectant every twelve hours and Republic Cityâs newest horse pills, more bitter than the smell of dried sweat that hung in the air.Â
The doctor encouraged Lin to follow him for the treatments, and after a kiss to your forehead and a little head pat, she did as much. When the door clicked shut after her was when Mako pounced.Â
âDonât scare me like that, YN. I thought I lost you.â
His arms were folded in an attempted scolding, but the slight tremble of his lower lip broke down the facade.Â
âYou canât get rid of me that easily,â you snorted, reaching for his hand and trying not to tear your stitches. He did as you wanted and let you encourage him closer with a small tug.Â
âGood,â he whispers, leaning down and cupping your cheek with the other hand. You lean into the hold, relishing in the comfort it provides.Â
âShit, Mako, why canât you be colder? My skin feels like itâs on fire.â
âI thought hybrids like heat?â
âYeah, well not this hot!âÂ
âBut isnât that what you like about me?âÂ
You smack his arm and he lets out a chuckle, leaning closer only to brush his lips against yours.Â
âCocky bastard,â you jab before pulling him into a real kiss.
Hi! Idk kf you're still posting for it but if possible could I be added to the reborn tag list please?
Of course! And while I am still posting for the series, it is on hiatus for a small bit until I am able to figure out where I want to go with the storyline. Thank you guys for being so understanding about thisđ„șđđđ
So uh heheh funny story
I started this blog (much like the others) when the quarantine hit. Obviously, thatâs dying out now, and life is returning to normal. School has started back up, jobs are starting to rehire, and especially in my personal life, everything is back to a full churn.
I may not be the most committed writer of a blog on tumblr, but I wanted you all to know that I will do my best to write when I can. This may be once a week, or maybe not even for months. I will try to bust out my requests when I have the time, but from now on, I guess you could say this blog is âon hiatus.â Thank you all for the support Iâve gained in the recent months, and I wish you all good luck in returning to your normal livesđđ
Ushijima Wakatoshi:Â
For the first few minutes, the home is filled with a dead silence. You had managed to lure him into your âbedroomâ (aka the room where he kept you locked up tight) and trap him inside, blocking the door with the tallest, heaviest furniture you could manage.Â
The only audible sounds are you sifting through every drawer within the apartment and you cursing under your breath every time you come up empty.Â
Where the hell is it?
The prize of your scavenger hunt? The keys to the door. The keys to your freedom. You see, the door Ushijima held you captive behind wasnât the issue-- it was the sheer number of locks that lined up above and below the knob.Â
Ushijima was a strong man, but he was also smart. He made a door that not even someone of his intimidating stature could break through.Â
It was quite effective, too. You couldnât find the damn key ring that you always heard jingling from your bedroom that signaled his arrival. Every cabinet, drawer, nightstand, anything throughout the apartment was empty of your target.Â
âWhat the fuck?â you hiss, slamming yet another cupboard closed. Youâd even climbed the countertops to search above the shelves in the kitchen and in the nearby living room. Nothing.
BANG!
The sudden slam makes you squeal in terror.Â
BANG! BANG!
Itâs coming from your room.Â
Ushijima.Â
Heâs trying to break out.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Even you can see from your viewpoint directly across from the hallway that the door is shivering. The hinges are whining with every slam as your kidnapper rams against the barrier with all the strength in his body.Â
You donât make a sound. Your heart is pounding, blood rushing in your ears as you pick through every hiding spot you can think of, hands trembling as you sift through pens, notepads, random things in every office drawer.Â
âNo, no, no,â you choke out, throat tightening at the booms behind you.Â
Then you hear splinters. With a glance behind your back, you notice the door has been cracked in two.Â
âNO!â you scream, frantic as ever. Suddenly, the keys no longer matter. You just need to get the hell out of there.
But thereâs no windows. Not any that you can fit through. So you charge towards the main door, taking a page out of Ushijimaâs book and ramming into it.Â
âCOME ON!â you cry helplessly, pawing at the door when it doesnât budge. Not even a shiver. You kick against it, fumble with the locks, twist the knob, do anything and pray to God that it works.Â
âYN.â No. A large hand falls on your shoulder, halting your movements.Â
âCome on,â you whisper, arms dangling lifelessly at your side. All you can do is stare at your failure. The door is locked, and deep down you know it always will be. Now it will, anyways. Thanks to him.Â
âYN,â Ushijima repeats, raising his voice just a notch. He doesnât even sound angry or pissed. For some reason, it sounded like he pitied you.Â
All you can do is give in. Thatâs it.Â
So you turn around and grab two fistfuls of his shirt, slamming your face against his solid chest as you mourn, crying for what could have been, but will never be.Â
Thereâs no will to fight when his hand falls into your hair, petting the strands gently while the other palms the small of your back.Â
âYou know I hate seeing you cry.â The rumble of his voice is soothing in a way, and part of you instinctively relaxes in his grip. âCome. Iâll make you a nice dinner to calm down and then we can discuss our new sleeping arrangements, since your bedroom is obviously unusable now.â
This man had taken you from your own home and claimed he loved you. But he was a beast, a six-foot monster of pure muscle. How do you escape that?Â
Answer: you donât.
â...Okay.â
Oikawa Tooru:Â
âYN come on, youâre being ridiculous.âÂ
âItâs very cramped in here. Would you mind letting me out, darling?â
âYN, give up. Youâre never leaving me!â
His voice was muffled from the closet where you had managed to trap him, stuffing a chair under the knob to keep him in place.Â
âFuck you, Oikawa.âÂ
âDonât be like that, YN. Just let me out and we can talk about this!âÂ
Rolling your eyes, you continued picking at the locks with bent paper clips. At some point, you had seen this in a TV show somewhere, so surely it worked, right?
Honestly, you had no idea what you were doing, but you quite liked the panic that seemed to grow in Oikawaâs voice every second you fumbled with the lock just a bit louder. The smallest clicks made him whine from across the room.Â
âYN, please! I love you so much, darling. Just let me out of here and I promise Iâll forget this ever happened. No punishments, I swear.â
Bile crawled up your throat at the words, forcing you to slam your fists against the door in frustration. âShut the fuck up, Oikawa-â
âTooru, YN. You know I hate it when you donât say my name.âÂ
âOh I am so gonna kill you!â you seethed, rising to your feet and spinning, throwing a hard heel kick against the door.Â
For the first time in twenty minutes, Oikawa shut his trap. Maybe he had found a way out, or maybe he had taken your threat seriously. To be honest, neither scenario was appealing to you at the moment.Â
âY-YN, surely you donât mean that,â he finally mumbled, sounding crestfallen. âYou donât hate me that much. No, no you donât. Youâre just confused-- you see, you canât escape because you donât want to escape.â
âExcuse me?!â
âYou donât want to escape because you love me.â A noise suspiciously akin to that of someone slamming their forehead against a door sounded from Oikawaâs general area. âAnd I love you too, YN. So just let me out and we can talk about this. You donât have to be afraid of your feelings for me!â
Oh wow. WOW. This guy was the definition of delusional.Â
âOh Tooru,â you sighed, massaging your temples from an oncoming headache. âHow are you so blind?â You draw closer to the closet, noting the excited scrambles behind the door as Oikawa audibly hears you approach.Â
âYou see, I fucking hate your guts.âÂ
He chokes on his breath. âN-no. You donât mean that.â His voice wavers with every syllable.Â
âI despise you.â
âNo.â
âHow sad is it that the one you love absolutely loathes you? Does it hurt to know that I will never love you? To know that youâre the bane of my existence?â
âYN donât be like this.â
âBecause Tooru, how could I love someone who is such a failure?â
âSTOP IT! SHUT UP AND LET ME OUT!âÂ
It was a rush to torture someone who had taken you from your own family. To hear them wilt under your thumb like a pest.Â
âOh Iâm sorry Tooru, do you want to be let out? Do you want to escape-â
*click*
Your mind goes blank at the sound. The door.
No. Not that door. This door.Â
The chair squeals against the wood floor, being pushed by pure will alone. Simple strength couldnât do that. And when itâs finally opened to the fullest, Oikawa stands in the doorway, head hanging as his hand drops from the knob.Â
You couldnât move, feeling frozen in fear like your feet were locked in quicksand. Eyes wide, you track Oikawaâs every move while you plead with your own body to do the same. But you couldnât.Â
Did he really justâŠ
Finally, his head straightens up, giving you a chance to see his face.Â
Stained with tears, streaks trail down his cheeks, but a small smile has formed from his lips. His pupils are dilated, not even squinting at the change of lighting.
âYN⊠YN, YN, YN. God, I could say your name for days. Now you say mine.â His voice is overall blank, but thereâs a small tinge of encouragement in it and a dash of glee in his eyes.Â
âT-Tooru.â Your meek whisper is enough to please him. In an instant, heâs on the move, approaching you and grabbing your hands, pressing them to his face before moaning at the contact.Â
âGood girl,â he stares deeply into your eyes, running his lips along the palms of your hands. âNow, itâs almost lunchtime. How about we order in for today?âÂ
The sudden shift in his attitude⊠shit. You knew he was insane, but this? Was this even real? Had he completely forgotten what you said??
After seeing what he could do with sheer force of will, you didnât want to poke that bear. No. You had never heard him so frustrated and broken before. And now, suddenly heâs all hunky-dory, acting as if that phase of utter fear hadnât just happened.
Who the hell was this guy?
âO-okay.â
He smiles at your agreement. Then he pulls you by your hands towards the living room, sitting on the couch before gently tugging you into his lap. His arms are wrapped around your waist, but the grip is like waves on the beach. Every few seconds, it will tighten as his fingernails dig into your hips, then it will recede and he will loosen up a bit before the action repeats itself.
You can feel his hot breath on your neck and his strong thighs underneath you on the couch. The warmth of it all is almost too much as sweat, nervous or heated, gathers at your brow. Your own hands are folded against your lap, not daring to move.
What happened to the strong girl from a few minutes ago who was trying to escape? The one who was willing to spit at him viciously and throw caution to the wind?
The question was completely valid. But that was before you could see him. For a split second, you forgot he was a grown man, completely and utterly capable of hurting not only you but also your family. It felt so safe to be protected by a wall from him.
Until he broke that of course.
âYNâŠâ Oikawa trails off, waiting for your attention.Â
âYes?â
âThose words from earlier hurt.â Oh God. âYou didnât mean them, right?â
The silence is deafening as he waits for an answer. At first, you thought he was being patient, then his fingertips began digging into your hips enough to cause bruises.Â
âNo, o-of course not.â His grip doesnât relent.
âGood. Now tell me you love me.â
This was your fate now. A grown man, no longer the teen who had a childish crush on you in high school, had kidnapped you and you couldnât escape. Your chest constricted at the thought, and your gaze strays to the door. I was so close.
âYN,â he warns, tone dipping dangerously. Ow, ow, ow.
âI love you, Tooru.âÂ
A giggle slips out of the man beneath you as his forehead drops to your shoulder. âI love you too, darling!âÂ
So close.
*GIF not mine*
Summary: You broke up with Bokuto for a good reason. At least, what you thought was a good reason. But right now you canât help but miss him terribly, and according to Akaashi, heâs feeling the exact same. But did you really break him like his friend said?
A/N: Did yâall know Bokuto is 6â1â? God, heâs a fucking dreamboat. How some people donât like his beefy ass, I will never know. Iâm just gonna warn yâall now, this is only well-written bc I had my cat by my side literally the whole time I wrote this. Heâs given off fuckinâ good-writing vibes, I swear. Anyways, hope yâall enjoy!
        âFix him.â You flinch as a palm slams down on your desk, crumpling your assignment. Unimpressed, you raise a brow.Â
        âExcuse me?â With a glance --- Akaashi --- you huff and turn to face the intruder.
        âFix him. You broke him.â
        âBroke who?â
        âBokuto!â Your classmateâs sudden outburst is unlike his usual, aloof self as he throws his hands in the air. âI canât remember the last time he hit one of my sets after you talked to him.â
        âMaybe thatâs not my problem,â you snicker.Â
        âOh hardy har har.â He rolls his eyes before lowering himself to your level. âJust fix him. We have a game coming up and our team canât handle another depressed Bokuto phase. We almost lost the last one because of him.âÂ
        You wanted to make another snide comment, but you couldnât bring yourself to do it. After breaking up with your owl-haired boyfriend, every sighting of him, even the mention of his name pained your heart. One time, you had spotted him at the same time he noticed you in the hall and he only whimpered before sprinting in the opposite direction. Most of the time, you regretted ending things, but you had to respect your own feelings. Although maybe, just maybe this once you could do the boysâ volleyball team a solid.Â
        âFine,â you avoided his gaze and fiddled with your hands. âIâll talk to him. But donât expect it to make everything all sunshine and rainbows afterwards!âÂ
        âCâmon YN,â he smirks at you, âwe both know thatâll be inevitable.âÂ
        That smug bastard was always right.
                                ~~~
        You attended their practice that night, attempting to sit in the corner discreetly but that plan didnât pan out. The second Bokuto walked through the gym doors it was like he caught a whiff of your scent. Some kind of animal instincts inside of him awakened as his eyes darted around the room, quickly spotting you with your legs splayed out as you tapped away on your phone against the wall. Not a sound of acknowledgement was made, but the impact of your presence was instantaneous.Â
        Like a true captain, he took charge of his team right off the bat, even though practice wouldnât start for another twenty minutes.Â
        âTime for stretching, boys!âÂ
        âBokuto, nobodyâs dressed yet.â
        âThen hurry up!âÂ
        Every jump was a tad higher, every spike a tad harder, and near the middle of practice Akaashi gave you a pointed look.Â
        âI told you so,â he mouthed while dodging a stray volleyball of Bokutoâs. Your middle finger was raring to go, but you held back with much personal restraint. There was no way your ex was this pumped only at the sight of you- oh wait, this is Bokuto. Nevermind.Â
        âAkaashi, set me up one more time!â The aceâs eyes strayed to you for a split second before he ran up and jumped, rearing back and spiking the ball so intensely you shivered at the sound. How did it not pop after that? It was his hardest hit yet, and a miniscule ounce of pride warmed your chest when Bokuto turned and grinned at you.Â
        âHey, hey, hey!â he fist-pumped, returning his attention to his team. For the last thirty minutes of practice, they decided to work on serves, and the outcome was just the same.Â
        The hair on the back of your neck raised as you watched his bulky form take a couple purposeful steps before smack! The ball whistled through the air and landed perfectly in the corner of the court, blasting the water bottle away like a rocket into a forgotten area of the gym. His signature shout was interrupted by a sudden voice by your side.Â
        âHe hasnât been like this in weeks,â Akaashi squatted next to you, taking a sip from his water. âI donât understand how you got him so hyped up, but Iâm glad.â He glances away from the court and watches your face from the corner of his eye, flashing you a small smile. âIâm glad you came today. We needed this.âÂ
        âI just came to watch, nothing more.â
        âWe both know thatâs a lie.â He quirks a brow at your slightly flushed face. âJust talk to him this time, okay? Heâs not-â
        âAkaashi!â Bokuto orders from the far benches, âCome set for me again!â His voice is more demanding than usual, and his eyes burn with jealousy. The setter only chuckles under his breath at the sight of the green-eyed monster, and stands to face him.Â
        âI will,â you grab his hand to halt him and stare into his eyes, nodding with certainty, âI promise. Iâll talk to him.â
        âAKAASHI!â You both jump at the abrupt, irritable shout. Frantically, the setter nods back at you and wriggles his hand out of your grasp before jogging away, visibly shaken. With a gulp, you dare to peek over at the court, only to nervously shift on the floor after making eye contact with Bokuto. His orbs, normally yellow and glowing with excitement, are dark and pouring with envy. Pursing your lips, you canât help but slump a little lower against the gym wall, hesitantly trying to hide yourself from the palpable heat that rolls off him in waves.Â
                                ~~~
        Practice ended quicker and louder than you imagined. Everything the ball made contact with-- Bokutoâs hand, the floor, that one door that flew open after impact-- it all created a sound that boomed and echoed around the room. Akaashi decided to call it quits after the door almost blew off its hinges.Â
        Bokuto silently picked up stray volleyballs and loaded them up in the basket before wheeling them into the storage room. It was around this time that the co-captain of the team gave you the signal. With about four or five frenzied head nods towards the private closet, you finally caught his drift and made your way over.Â
        The stench of sweat made you nauseous, but you powered through as you walked nearer to the boys, ignoring how their chatter had subsided when you shuffled past them.Â
        The room was dark and dusty, with the only light coming from the outside. Bokuto perked up at the sound of your tennis shoes squeaking against the mopped floor. He parks the bucket of balls in an unlit corner next to some brooms before facing you.
        âYou came today. I was surprised.â His voice is wobbly and uncertain, and youâre shocked to finally notice just how ruffled he appeared. The normally wild hair atop his head sat in drooping grey and black tufts, and there were dark circles under his eyes. He flashes a small smile at you, but itâs forced and trembling. He was coming off the high of you watching him practice just like the old days, and heâs regretablly remembering that the old days have passed. You broke up with him.Â
        âYeah, I did.â You sway back and forth on your feet while twiddling your thumbs. Pursing your lips, you take a hesitant step closer and say, âI thought you did great, by the way.â
        The life returns to his eyes for a split second, but it disappears just as fast. âThank you,â he mumbles. The room returns to a deafening silence, and you bite the inside of your cheek to pass the time.Â
        âWhy,â he pipes up once more, killing the quiet. âWhy did we have to break up again?â His arms hang limply at his sides while his feet scuff the floor. He didnât dare to look you in the eyes at the moment, and you understood the feeling. The atmosphere was tense and choked up, like a glass teetering precariously on the edge of a table. One wrong move and everything would shatter.Â
        âBecause,â you force out, breathing shakily, âyou just⊠you just never had enough time for me.â
        âBut I do now!â The cup falls. Everything breaks.Â
        âDo you?â you whimper, pressing a hand against your lips to contain a sob. He steps closer instinctively, eyes watering at the sight of your walls collapsing.
        âI do, I swear!â His rough hands grab your shoulders and yank you closer. His golden orbs search your face one, two, three times before he leans closer. âI promise, YN! Please, I promise!â His strong fingers trail down and grasp your wrists, tugging you into his chest while he pulls your arms around his back, free of their own volition. You donât deny his needs and melt into the embrace, shedding a few stray tears into his shirt which you clutch tightly. Â
        âI promise,â he whispers once more into your hair, wrapping his own muscular arms around your shaky form. âI donât want to be without you ever again.â His voice trembles against your ear, and you begin to notice just how much your body missed his own. You fit perfectly against his chest, and his warmth makes you feel just right. Your heart races in a good way, and the pit of your stomach fills with a joy only he can provide effortlessly. You were made for each other, and you were perfect for each other.Â
        Oh shit⊠you were perfect for each other.Â
        âOkay,â you whisper, nodding into his shirt. âOkay, letâs give it another shot.â The reaction is instantaneous.Â
        âHey, hey, hey!â he whoops victoriously into your ear, hugging just tight enough that the only sound you can muster is a wheeze. You hang on for dear life when he lifts you up and spins you around while cheering even louder.
        The atmosphere of the room grows ten times softer and brighter thanks to his beaming, and his hands trail down to the backs of your thighs and tap twice. You understand and hop with complete faith that he will catch you, and you will continue to do that until he drops you one day, which is highly unlikely. In a seasoned fashion, you wrap your legs around his waist and wind your arms around his neck for stability. He settles his hands under the tips of your thighs and stares up at you like youâre the light of his life. You wouldnât mind if he kept doing that forever.Â
        âI missed you so much,â he admits, completely unashamed. You canât contain your smile, even though your cheeks are a bit puffy from your breakdown earlier, and your eyes crease at the corners.Â
        âI missed you too.âÂ
        âI wonât leave you alone ever again. I swear!â You giggle and run your hands behind his neck and into his nape, just barely brushing through his hair.
        âOkay,â you nod happily and stroke his peppered tufts. âIâll hold you to that.â
                                ~~~
        A body crashes into the desk next to yours, but you donât pay it any mind.Â
        âWhatcha doinâ?â The voice is playful and overjoyed, ecstatic even.Â
        âHomework.â Your response is the opposite.Â
        âAwesome!â Bokuto cheers, grabbing the attention of the rest of the class. While you palm your face, he loudly scooches his chair closer, ignorant to the noisy squeaks it causes. The racket finally stops when he deems himself an appropriate distance from you, which just so happens to be a roomy six inches. The only thing more palpable than his presence is the warm breaths hitting your neck.Â
        âItâs homework.âÂ
        âI know, but youâre doing it, so it must be amazing!â You didnât know whether to smack him silly or kiss his lips off. Neither idea seemed more desirable at the moment.
        Heâs practically bouncing in his seat beside you while his head plops down onto your shoulder.Â
        âI think x equals six,â he points down on your paper, chin bobbing on your collarbone with every syllable.Â
        âX equals two.â
        âOh.âÂ
        His grin doesnât falter even once while he basks in your less-than-satisfied presence. Youâre about to blow your top, and you just canât take it any longer.Â
        âWhat are you doing here, Koutarou?â
        âIâm spending more time with you like you wanted!â You sigh exasperatedly and glance up at the ceiling.
        âKou, I meant more like after-school stuff! This,â you turn in your seat and gesture to him, âyou sneaking into my class to visit while my teacherâs in the bathroom?â You shake your head. âItâs a bit excessive.â
        He throws you a whiny pout at puppy dog eyes.
        âBut I wanted to see you!â Your hardened exterior cracks just a bit. God, he was an irresistible, beefy pain in the ass. With a huff, you cup his cheeks and peer into his sparkling eyes.
        âI know,â you smile reassuringly, âI wanted to see you too. But you need to go back before-â
        âBokuto!â Your teacher stands in the doorway with folded arms and a tapping shoe. âPlease return to your classroom right now!â Your boyfriend chuckles at the sight and spins up out of his seat.
        âOops, gotta go babe!â He presses a swift kiss to your lips that rattles your brain and widens your eyes. With a breathless gasp, you watch as he dashes out of the room with a cheeky grin, waving excitedly on the way.
        âAt least heâs fixed now.â Akaashi reclaims his chair and sits at his desk beside yours, observing as the class door closes with a slam. The teacher shakes his head and rubs his temples while returning to the front of the class, shuffling a stack of papers.Â
        You, on the other hand, are still in a daze, slowly running your fingers over your lips to revel in the lasting tingles. Then you break out into a smile.Â
        âYeah. Heâs fixed now.â
