———————————————————————-----
The day Neteyam met Y/n, was unlike any other.
Feeling fear for his family's safety amongst a clan he heard very little about, Neteyam felt out of place. Being stripped of everything he knew growing up he felt utterly bare as the dreadful feeling weighed down on his shoulders greatly. Neteyam’s eyes wandered aimlessly amongst the new clan his family seeked refuge upon.
The nagging feeling of being watched, of being analyzed so critically set an unsettling feeling deep within his stomach. If he could, Neteyam would cover his family from the harsh glares the onlookers sent their way. It didn't help when two boys around their age came up towards them mocking their apperence, specifically Neteyam’s appearance.
He felt uneasy as they commented on their physique, the difference between them. Every fiber in his body stood to respond back, to put them in their place for blatantly disrespecting his family in such an outlandish way. But before he could utter a single word, an angel appeared.
At least that's what he thought when she graciously walked through the crowd soundlessly. The crowd seemed to move around her, giving her space to walk through them. Like her presence alone demanded respect. She held herself proudly, her beautiful curly locks falling past her shoulders as they swayed along with her steps. She sent a quick smack to the shorter boy before hissing their names in warning. When she turned to him, Neteyam felt the wind being knocked out of him.
Staring at him out of curiosity were beautiful e/c hues, the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen. They didn't stare at him in fear or disgust, but in curiosity and concern. He could feel himself clam down under her stare alone, his shoulders relaxing significantly as they made eye contact. Her face was adorned with white freckles and markings that seem to only enhance her beauty, a beautifully crafted necklace hanging around her neck. The small smile she sent his way only increased the fluttery feeling in him, his palms began to sweat as he shakily reached up to greet her. Thankfully she returned it easily, a smile formed on her face. Before Neteyam could savor the small moment the chief flew over them, demanding attention.
When Neteyam caught his little brother openly gawking at another female who walked up to his angel, he knew they were special. Both girls watched him and his family with kind and sincere smiles. They made his heart feel a little lighter, she made him feel lighter.
After both girls showed his family their new home and Neteyam could have sworn she was the definition of perfection. The way she graciously walked and showed them their home, the way she held herself just expressed elegance and poise. She was respectively polite to his family, her eyes warm with sincerity. She had a charm about her that Neteyam couldn't help but be attracted to. She was a textbook of what a princess would be, a word he heard his father use towards his sisters.
Neteyam was quite shocked to find out she wasn't the chief's daughter, but the older sister to the shorter male, Rotxo, who was his siblings diving instructor. She was being trained as a Tsahìk under Ronal as she showed great promise, Neteyam had found out after asking about her from Tsireya.
It came with great disappointment when he realized she wouldn't be helping them with their lessons as they desperately tried to adapt to the sea. But luckily, the disappointment didn't last long.
“How are the Numeyu’s??” (Students) Y/n asks teasingly, taking a seat in between her brother and Neteyam as they were in the middle of breathing exercises. Neteyam immediately sat up straighter in her presence, he hadn't even heard her footsteps when she snuck up on them. She would make for a great hunter, but she didn't seem to have that air about her. She seemed so calm, so quiet. She didn't seem to have it in her to even hurt a fly.
“Great! Neteyam and Kiri are doing exceptionally well” Rotxo praises, his eyes traveling to Kiri who looks away. The small purple hue along her cheeks going unnoticed. Y/n’s ears perk up at her brother's words.
Rotxo was one of the best free diver instructors they had around their age group. His praise meant alot. Especially to Y/n, who held her younger brother on a high pedestal. She turns to Neteyam whose eyes were already trained on her, a smug smile twitching along his lips.
“Oh? That's impressive” Y/n notes, grinning at the boy who she grew close with over the past few weeks. Neteyam and Y/n immediately hit it off, though they barely had interactions as Y/n was always busy shadowing Ronal, the moments they did share only made them realize their similarities. Being the eldest and holding many responsibilities on their shoulders. They bonded over the matter, growing quite close.
With Neteyam and Y/n always teasing each other, almost bordering that of flirting.
“Guess I'm a quick learner” Neteyam offers, a cheeky smile breaking through. Y/n tilts her head back as a silvery laugh escapes her lips. Neteyam’s eyes widened at the sound, a sound he swore he would burn deep into his soul.
“That's good to hear, I guess you won't be needing my expertise?” she teases, her eyes crinkling in delight. Neteyam quickly shakes his head. He didn’t want her to think she wasn’t needed.
“N-No! I mean, we’ll still need your h-help. We have a lot to learn” Neteyam stutters out. He didn't know what it was about her that always left him a stuttering and embarrassed mess. He ignores the giggles that erupt around him at his hurried response. Y/n simply smiles, a smile that rivaled the sun itself in Neteyam’s eyes.
“I guess I will stay after all, Forest Boy” she teases, sending a small wink.
Truth be told the nickname had bothered Neteyam at first, he didn't like being called that especially by Ao’nung. But whenever it came from Y/n’s lips it sounded endearing, almost heavenly.
It didn't take long for Y/n to tag along during lessons often, always offering helpful advice that aided the Sully’s. She also grew very close with all the siblings, immediately clicking with Kiri. The girls could go on and on about the beauty the nature around them offered. Kiri always shared stories of their home as well as herbs and remedies they used. Y/n always seemed eager to learn more, showing Kiri some of the techniques they would use here.
The bond she grew with Tuk only caused Neteyam to fall deeper in love with her. Always watching the duo from afar with a lovesick expression. Tuk adorned her, claiming to become like her as she grew up. Neteyam couldn't help but start having fantasies about what it would be like to have a family with her. She seemed to love children, a motherly aura radiating off her.
Neteyam’s feelings for Y/n would only grow, the female Na’vi proving to be a force to be reckoned with.
~~~~~
It had been like any other day, Neteyam set off early to sneak in some extra practice with his Iiu as he wanted to impress a certain h/c Na’vi. Just as he was about to call it a day the sound of arguing catches his attention as he races to shore. A specific voice stood out as he recognized it immediately which only pushed him to walk faster.
Lo’ak.
Neteyam stomps towards the group noting how Kiri stood to the side, her arms crossed over as if to cover herself. The group had circled Lo’ak, pulling and prodding at him. Neteyam rushes in, shoving Ao’nung off his brother with force. He creates distance between them and his siblings, his glare unwavering.
“You heard what she said-'' Neteyam growls, his eyes solely on Ao’nung who steps back. “-leave them alone”.
The commotion had gotten the attention of some Na’vi nearby, specifically a certain female Na’vi who rushed towards them in a hurry.
“Back off…..Now” Neteyam presses his finger against Ao’nnung’s chest, pushing him back. He ignores the attempt his friends takes as Ao’nung silenced him by raising his hand. He had a smug smirk on his lips but chose not to retaliate against Neteyam.
“Smart choice” Neteyam acknowledges. His ears twitched to the sound of hurried footsteps, turning to see Y/n, her face flush with color as she ran towards the group. She stops in front of them, her eyes darting between Ao’nung and Neteyam.
Neteyam glances back at his sister who looked to the ground in sadness. He felt his anger bubble inside of him as he turned back to the group. “And I need you to respect my sister” he adds, dismissing the hiss that is sent his way. He looks at Y/n who had an apologetic frown on her face. Netreyam nods at her, his lips forming in a thin line. He pulls Lo’ak with him so they could leave.
“Ao’nung, you skxawng!!” Y/n hisses, stopping the Sully’s who stare at her in surprise. Y/n was always collected, calm and kind. The venom that dripped from her tone alarmed them all. Ao’nung seemed like the only one unfazed.
“What will your father say! This is low, even for you.” she hisses, taking a step towards Ao’nung who scoffs at her words. He keeps his mouth shut, his eyes glancing at Lo’ak. He sends a mocking smile that seems to rile the younger Sully who pulls away from his brother's hold. Neteyam goes to pull him back but he's already walking back to the group.
“What would Rotxo think? Yaymak ‘evan!!” (Foolish boy) The girl hisses, her tail swishing behind her angrily, thumping against the sand. Her e/c eyes scan over the friends, her disappointment evident as she hisses in anger. Ao’nung huffs in annoyance, shrugging it off. He smirks wide as Lo’ak walks closer to them.
“So? Why would I care? That's what they are, isn't it? They’re freaks, the whole family”
What happened next no one present would ever believe, not in a million years. Y/n’s hand juts out landing a powerful punch square against Ao’nung’s jaw. A sickening crack is heard as her clenched fist collides with him. Ao’nung stumbles back, his eyes dazed as if he didnt know what had hit him. Y/n quickly follows it by landing a swift kick against his stomach sending him tumbling against his friends as they all fall against the sandy floor beneath them.
“Watch. Your. Mouth.” Y/n huffs out, her eyes burning with anger as she clenches her fist. The friends get up, snarling as they lunge after her. Lo’ak quickly joins in, landing a punch of his own on one of the male Na’vi who hisses at him. Y/n gets roughly tackled onto the floor but she is quick to recover as she flips Ao’nung over straddling his hips. He struggles under her as she punches him, holding one of his arms back not to land anything on her.
“Neteyam! Help them!” Kiri yells hysterically, turning to her brother.
Neteyam stood frozen in his spot, his eyes wide as he watched in pure amazement. All he could focus on was the drastic change he witnessed in Y/n. Someone he thought was too elegant, get violent. Violent to the point she punched Ao’nung and was able to take on the rest with ease. All to protect his family's honor.
Neteyam’s mouth hung low as shock washes over him, his eyes following how Y/n had now moved onto the other Na’vi. He drank in how she elegantly avoided getting hit but landing her own hits with brutal force. She looked fierce and strong. She reminded him of his mother, beautiful yet deadly. Words that his father had used to describe his mother ringing through his head as he finally understands its full meaning. Y/n was a complete-
“-Badass'' Neteyam whispers.
He finally understood what it meant, she was the definition of intimidating. Every hit was calculated and precise. That of a skilled fighter. Neteyam was in awe, and if he thought he couldn't grow to love her more, boy was he wrong.
It is only when Lo’ak screams in pain is he finally brought back to reality.
Neteyam quickly runs back to the group, pushing the Na’vi who tried to choke his brother. As he lands a kick on his stomach he slides right up against Y/n, who is smirking at him. The butterflies in his stomach increase at their close proximity. She looked utterly beautiful with her hair disarray, heavy breaths racking through her body.
It was at this moment Neteyam realized he had met his match, his perfect match.
“Show me what you got, Forest Boy”
A/N: I'm sorry for the poorly written action scene. I cannot seem to make them descriptive enough! I'm sorry for that but I hope you guys enjoyed!
This is an Evan (Buck) Buckley imagine I came up with which I hope you will all like. And for the purpose of this idea, Reader is Bobby's daughter. Any feedback is always lovely.
Summary: (Y/n) and Evan have kept their relationship a secret, mainly from her dad, Bobby. But they can't hide it any longer when she has an accident and the team are called out to Evan's apartment to help her.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaching out, Evan bashed his hand around until he found his phone that was blaring out his morning alarm. He swiped his finger over the button and ended the alarm he didn't actually need this morning, for he was already wide awake.
He could feel the sweat trickling down the back of his neck towards his shoulder blades and he knew his skin was starting to turn blotched red and flushed. The heat was radiating off him as his chest heaved to catch his breath back.
Evan let himself slump down until his weight was resting on his forearms that were dented into the mattress either side of (Y/n)'s shoulders.
A dazed smile spread across (Y/n)'s lips and she reached her arms out to wrap them around Evan's neck when his head moved down to bury into the side of her neck. She could feel him softly kissing the bruises he had just bit up and down her neck minutes ago. Her fingers slowly pulled and traced along the short hairs at the back of his neck, causing him to groan into her skin which sent shivers up and down her spine.
His hips were pressed crushingly down on hers, their groins mashed together while (Y/n) tensed her thighs to squeeze Evan's legs that were resting between hers causing her hips to bend out to accomodate him.
"Impeccable timing," (Y/n) whispered and her smile turned into a grin when Evan laughed into her neck. She loved the sound of his laugh. "You best get ready soon." She didn't want him to go. (Y/n) wanted him to stay right where he was, laid on top of her, preventing her from moving an inch away from his intoxicating kisses that he was peppering up and down the side of her neck and jaw.
If it was her choice, they would stay here in bed all day with no interruptions or work to get in the way.
But they both knew Evan would have to move very soon. He didn't like being late to work and he didn't want to give Bobby any reasons to chide him.
"Hmm, I wanna stay here." Evan kissed along her jaw until he was hovering over her enough to reach up and peck her lips, gently at first. Then again and again until he was pushing her down into the pillow, devouring her lips like they were the air he needed to breathe.
"We have to get up," (Y/n) groaned against his lips when he rutted his hips down into hers and he took her lower lip between his teeth. Her hands moved round from his neck to cup his face and her thumbs brushed across his sharp cheekbones. She pressed a quick, simple kiss to his lips before she attempted to push up against him but it didn't work.
Evan tensed his bare chest and leaned down, effortlessly pushing her back down beneath him where he wanted her.
"You don't have work today and I can spare another ten minutes," He let his weight lean on his left forearm so his right hand could slither down (Y/n)'s side and grip the underside of her thigh. If he skipped his morning shower and grabbed breakfast at the station rather than here at his apartment, he could spare ten or more minutes to stay in bed with her. And he knew she didn't have work today so she didn't technically have to get up yet.
"True, but you're going to work so we both have to move, baby." (Y/n) lifted her foot up enough so that she could swat it down on his backside and she hooked her arms around his neck, trying again to sit up.
It worked this time, but not like she hoped. Evan kept a tight hold of her thigh and he leaned up so he could sink back on his heels, pulling (Y/n) with him as his other arm curved around her lower waist. He pinned their chests together and dug his fingertips into her thigh until she got the hint and wrapped her legs around his hips, clinging to his front.
"I gave you a spare key, you can just stay here, you know," His voice was low but his lips formed a smile as his thumb brushed in rhythmic circles against her thigh, squeezing the flesh every now and then.
Evan knew she was only saying she had to get up because she didn't want to be rude or seem like she was imposing. She was round and his place so much that he gave her a key, he didn't care if she stayed for a while after he went to work or if she stayed the whole day and didn't leave.
"You have your meds with you, don't you?" He muttered against her plump lips that he felt addicted to.
"In my bag."
(Y/n) didn't go anywhere without her small red and black zip up bag that had the fire station's logo on the front. It held all her medications, including her emergency meds. (Y/n) was epileptic and she had been on medication for it ever since she could remember, although her meds got changed every so often to cope with diminishing or increasing seizures.
She had to take anti-convulsant meds once in a morning and once at night, along with some vitamins and acid tablets because her seizure meds stopped her body from absorbing and retaining vitamins. And if she went into a bad seizure that wouldn't stop, she had emergency meds in her bag that needed to be placed under her tongue to try and stop the seizures. But the bad ones like that didn't happen often.
"I'll do you a deal, Buckley," (Y/n) tilted her head to the side before she leaned closer and attached her lips to his sharp jaw. She sucked and bit down until she could feel him practically shaking against her, growling her name through gritted teeth. "I'll stay all day and be here when you get home, you can have your way with me all night if you want."
"What's the catch?" Evan was breathless and on the verge of stuttering when he felt her kiss and nip down his throat, something she knew made him putty in her hands.
"You get to work on time so my dad doesn't lose his rag with you."
(Y/n) squeaked when she felt his short nails puncturing into her thigh and his other hand moved to cup the back of her neck. He tilted her head up so she could no longer kiss his throat and he hovered his lips half an inch away from hers. There was something devilish and daring in his eyes, it made her unsure whether he was going to agree and go get ready or throw her down on the bed for round two.
As much as (Y/n) wanted Evan to stay in bed with her, she knew her dad was a stickler for people being on time and following the rules. And Evan worshipped Bobby, he thought very highly of him like he was his own dad and was always doing whatever he could to prove himself and make Bobby happy. It was why Evan always tried to be punctual and on time.
(Y/n) couldn't have Evan be late to work on her account and it wasn't like evan could explain (Y/n) was the reason he was late.
Bobby didn't know they were together.
They had agreed that, just for now, they would keep their relationship to themselves. It made things more interesting and it let them focus on each other rather than worry about opinions and the thoughts of others.
If the team knew Evan was dating the captain's daughter, they might act or think different about him. They could think if Bobby praised him he was getting special treatment. And they didn't want to tell Bobby yet because he loved (Y/n) deeply and he thought very highly of Evan. If he knew, he would give Evan the third degree about treating his daughter right and things could get awkward between them all.
(Y/n) knew they would tell her dad and everyone else soon, she and Evan were getting so close now and had been dating for months in secret. She had practically moved in with him at this point so the next step was letting other people into their little bubble and telling family and friends.
"You're killing me," Evan groaned against her lips before he slowly climbed off the bed and turned round to sit (Y/n) back down on the bed. He hovered between her legs that were still curled around his waist and his hands planted down either side of her hips.
"Go get ready then, baby."
"You'd better be right here when I come home so I can have you all night."
(Y/n) could barely breathe when he took her chin between his thumb and finger, tilting her head up to meet his gaze that caused her to swipe her tongue out and wet her lips. It was going to be a long day with Evan gone and the image of him looking at her like that burned into her brain. And she knew Evan could see her regretting this bargain because his smile turned into a wicked smirk that showed his teeth.
"I'll be here," She whispered breathlessly, closing her eyes when evan kissed her and sucked her lower lip between his teeth.
"Good girl,"
***
Tilting her head forward, (Y/n) let the water trickle down the back of her neck and splash down against her skin like droplets of rain. Her hands smoothed up and down her arms as her eyes closed and she inhaled the steam, hoping it would ward off the headache she had felt all morning.
Time seemed to drag since Evan left this morning and (Y/n) had tried to tidy up and do some general cleaning but her head started to cloud and she started to feel tired. A shower was always the best option when she felt like this. She was hoping to wake herself up a bit more, get dressed and go buy something from the shop to cook for tea that evan would love.
Her hand reached out and her finger slowly started to make squiggles and patterns on the glass that had fogged up around her. She always preferred a shower when Evan joined her, it didn't feel right taking one alone.
She could only just hear the music playing on her phone over the harsh sound of the water spraying all around her but (Y/n) liked background noise, she didn't like silence.
It hit her out of the blue.
Sometimes, (Y/n) felt little quirks or signs like her body tensing up or her breathing turning shallow or little jerking movements before a seizure came on.
She didn't feel anything this time. The music drowned out into nothing and her eyes rolled to the back of her head as her mind switched off immediately. Her arms that had been wrapped around her chest tightened and pinned bruisingly into her ribs as her body crashed forward and the right side of her temple bashed into the shower pipe before she slumped down to her knees.
When her body started to jerk back and forth, her legs got stuck and crumpled beneath her and her head started to slam into the glass wall of the shower. She folded awkwardly into the small square space as the water continued to beat down on her and her legs jerked and spasmed out into the opposite wall.
A cough spluttered past (Y/n)'s lips and she gasped to take a proper breath, spitting and froffing when water kept pouring down on her face and welling up in her mouth.
Where was she? What was she doing? Why was she on the floor?
Her head slumped forward to try and be out of the firing line of the water and it took a long time for her eyes to open and try to adjust to the bright light. She was in the shower; more specifically, on the shower floor.
Oh God, she'd had a seizure.
She couldn't help herself, she started to cry. Little bubbling sobs and whimpers passed through her lips and made her chest quake but each movement made her ribs ache and her muscles burned. She could feel her arms tightly crossed over her chest but she couldn't find the strength or control to move them yet.
Her temple was splitting. It felt like someone had attacked her with a hammer and (Y/n) didn't dare try and touch her head and feel the damage she had done to herself.
As her senses came back to her slowly, (Y/n) could feel her feet were bent awkwardly and her legs were spread, pressed up against the glass. Her left foot was stretched and it felt like it was still twitching and burning like the water was flickers of fire spitting down onto her.
She gurgled as she tried to stretch her arm up to try and turn the water off. Her chest hurt worse when she removed her arm from pinning into her muscles that were on fire when they relaxed and stretched. Her fingers were curled awkwardly to her palm and she couldn't move them no matter how much she tried. It was hard to bash her fist into the handle and push it up until the water stopped cascading down on her.
I want Evan.
Why did he have to be at work today when (Y/n) had gone and had a seizure? She hadn't had a seizure in over two weeks, the last one she had was an absent seizure when she was having dinner with her dad and Athena and that had been an easy one.
Tears burned down her face like acid and horrid cries gurgled past her lips.
(Y/n) could feel her that her bum was against the door and she tried to shuffle back and nudge it open. There was no way she would be able to stand or even move enough to crawl out of here. Shuffling and flopping around like some sort of worm was the only option she had until her muscles came back under her control and started to work.
When the glass door slowly swung open, (Y/n) tried to lift her arms out in front of her but they were shaking badly and felt like elastic bands that coiled back to her chest when she stretched them too far.
Groaning, (Y/n) bashed her feet against the glass and slumped her upper half out onto the tiled floor, gasping at how cold it felt compared to the heat the shower consumed. She felt like a fish out of water, flapping about, shuffling down the small step until she was laid out on the floor.
This was a start.
(Y/n) was thankful she had laid her towel over the toilet seat so it was easy to grab when she got out. She yanked it down until it dropped loosely over her back and her phone- which had been laid on top of the towel and was still playing music- dropped beside her on the floor.
The only finger (Y/n) could uncurl properly was her middle finger but it was enough for her to click off the music app and go to the keypad. It had been a long time since she had dialled 911. This wasn't going to be a fun experience.
"911, what's your emergency?"
"F-fl…flat twenty-one, Blossom, court," (Y/n) had to spit each word through shaking teeth and her jaw started to grind until it clicked horribly and felt a little more under control.
"Miss, can you tell me your name?"
"(Y/n),"
"Okay (Y/n), can you explain what's happening? Are you hurt or being threatened?"
Her head felt fuzzy, it felt like her ears were being stuffed with cotton wool and her eyes were trying hard to focus on the wall opposite but all the tiles looked like they were shifting around. It looked like they were dancing and floating around and her body felt like it was spinning in circles even though she was barely moving.
"Seizure…" (Y/n) breathed harshly and clenched her fists closer to her chest. "In t-the shower, I hit my head," Rolling onto her left side, (Y/n) pulled the towel a bit tighter around her for some sense of modesty. She didn't know who was going to come barging through the door and the last thing (Y/n) wanted was for anyone to see her like this, but she couldn't be alone.
If she called her dad there was a big chance he wouldn't be able to answer because he was at work. The same went for Athena but even if she answered, (Y/n) would have to explain that she was in Evan's apartment, not her own.
At least with the paramedics they would take her to hospital and she could contact people from there.
"Are any of the doors locked? I've dispatched a team to you but should I advise they will need to break the locks to get to you since you're in the bathroom?"
"I don't know," (Y/n) couldn't be sure if Evan locked the door behind him in the morning. Sometimes he did but other times if he left her there he didn't always lock the door. He always knew (Y/n) had her key and would likely pop out and come back so she could lock the door.
She hadn't locked the bathroom door, it was a habit since she was little to always leave bathroom doors unlocked and usually open ajar. (Y/n) couldn't take baths unless someone was in the home with her in case she seized and started to drown. Showers were safer, no risk of drowning, but doors were always open in case she seized and needed someone to come in and help her. Rescue her.
"(Y/n)? Dispatch is two minutes away… are you still with me?"
"A…" Her head lowered back down to the floor and her eyes closed tight as her body coiled up until she was in the fetal position beneath the towel. "Another one coming,"
'Young female experiencing multiple seizures in the shower, possibly concussed. Be advised doors may be locked and require breaking.'
Fear grappled Evan's soul and racked his body until he was shaking in his boots.
She had been fine this morning.
He had left (Y/n) sitting up in bed, laughing and talking to him right as he walked out the apartment. The moment the call came in and Evan realised where they were driving to, he thought he was going to be sick. This wasn't fair.
What the Hell was he going to do?
None of the team knew this was Evan's address, no one had been round to his apartment before. They always socialised in bars or clubs or Evan went round to Eddie's house, not the other way around which was a coincidence that worked in his favour.
He would have to be professional, pretend he didn't know (Y/n) and try not to touch her in the wrong way or kiss her or comfort her. God, Bobby was on this call out. All Hell would break loose when he realised it was (Y/n) they were coming to rescue. He would wonder why she wasn't in her own apartment. Hopefully she could talk her way out of that if it came up; this wasn't the best way to tell Bobby about their relationship.
Evan jumped out the truck and ran towards the door just as Chimney hopped out the ambulance with a medical bag on his shoulder. And Eddie rounded the side of the truck and grabbed the large beam they had for breaking down doors.
It felt like fate was on his side when Bobby stopped by the truck to listen to a call out on the radio. Maybe he wouldn't come up for this one and Evan might just get away with getting (Y/n) down to the hospital without anyone knowing who she was. And without Bobby finding out what they had been up to these past few months.
He could barely breathe as he trotted up to the second floor where his flat was. He had to be first up so he could unlock the door; he didn't want the team breaking down his front door and he couldn't have them knowing he had the key on his person.
When he got to the door he had walked out of barely five hours ago, Evan whipped his key from his back pocket and unlocked it.
"Ma'am, fire and rescue! We're coming in,"
Evan headed up the stairs, hearing Chimney close behind him. He breathed in relief when he tried the door handle and it opened. He had never known (Y/n) to lock the bathroom door and it was specifically for emergencies like this.
He didn't like what he saw.
There she was; his girl, his (Y/n), laid out like a fish out of water on the bathroom tiles. Her knees were bent up near her stomach with her lower legs spread apart and her feet were bent as straight as possible like she was a ballerina. Both her arms were coiled to her chest beneath a towel that covered her modesty. There was a puddle of water surrounding her like a chalk outline, her hair that has been curly and messy this morning was damp and clogged around her face and splattered across the floor.
"Fire and rescue," He repeated again, quieter this time as he moved around and knelt down, wedging himself between (Y/n) and the toilet so he could be in front of her. "Oh, baby," He felt like crying when he looked down at her, reaching a careful hand out to brush her wet hair away from her face, revealing the cut that was swelling on her temple.
The relief was evident in her eyes but Evan could see the panic written across her tense features when she realised the team was here, not a simple ambulance and a few paramedics.
"Fuck," (Y/n) whimpered through tense lips but she managed to move her curled hand out to nudge Evan's knee. She wanted some sort of contact with him before the rest of his team swanned in. "D-dad?"
"He's outside, I don't think he's coming up,"
"Alright, what have we got?" Chimney hurried into the room and went down on his knees near (Y/n)'s head, trying to smile calmly at her as he set down his medic bag in the corner of the room. "Hi there, my name's Howie. Am I okay to check you over?"
(Y/n) hummed, it was all she could manage. She closed her eyes and tilted her chin shakily down towards her chest, cowering more beneath the towel. This wasn't how she wanted things to go. All of her recent seizures had been around family. She wanted to be here with Evan and have him wrap her up in his arms and comfort her.
She wanted his fingertips running along her muscles and a blanket wrapped around her to try and relax her muscles so they came back under her control. (Y/n) wanted Evan's lips on her skin and his intoxicating voice in her ear and him moving her back to the bedroom.
Not the team flooding in making him be professional and changing the atmosphere.
Chimney handed some gauze over to Evan so he could dab at the blood drying up on the right side of her temple. It was swelling up but it wasn't deep or extensive. A minor concussion at best which was good. He then moved his gloved hands to carefully hold (Y/n)'s neck and feel her pulse and the back of her spine, checking for any spinal injuries that he was sure she didn't have.
"Can you tell me your name?"
"(Y/n),"
"Alright (Y/n), are you prone to seizures?" Chimney carefully moved he towel so he could check her arms but when he tried to move her arms and assess her chest, she cried. Her arms had thrashed so much against her chest and had been pinned there for so long that bruises had started to form and it felt like her ribs were all broken.
"Epilepsy, m…meds in the bag. My foot twisted, a-and my chest kills," It hurt to strain her arm out towards her bag that was on the sink counter but it was good to have some feeling back and more control.
"Extensive chest bruising but no fractures or breaks, let's take a look at your feet,"
He patted his hands down her legs and while his focus was on her feet, Evan brushed a few strands of hair from her face and reached over to squeeze her hand. He wanted to do more; he wanted to kiss her and lift her up into his arms and carry her out of here over to the bed.
"No broken bones, we need to take you to the hospital for a check over though."
"Clothes, o-on the bed, I can't go like this." (Y/n) tilted her temple down into the floor and tightened her arms to her chest. Evan had seen her like this countless times, both naked and suffering the after effects of a seizure. But she didn't want the rest of the team to see her like this. She didn't want anyone else around.
He smiled, muttering a quiet 'no problem' before he got up and went to scout round for the clothes she had laid out earlier. His hands barely curled around the clothes before he stopped and turned to look at Hen who was leaning around the doorway to the bathroom. While Eddie was waiting outside with Bobby about the call coming through the radio.
"Chim, what's her name?"
"(Y/n), why?"
"Cap, you'd better come up here. I think it's your daughter." She had seen the picture in Bobby's wallet and the photos in his and Athena's house. Hen recognised the girl lying on the bathroom floor from the wedding photos. Bobby's girl.
"Shall we sit you up, baby girl?"
(Y/n) nodded to the careful words whispered in her ear that sent ripples down her spine and made her want to smile. Evan leaned over and slipped his hands beneath her arms. He was careful when he eased her up until she was sat up, holding the towel around her front with half-curled, stiff fingers. (Y/n) felt a little easier when she was leaning up against Evan's back and her foot didn't feel so crushed when she stretched out her legs in front of her.
"Okay, let's give it a try," Evan took the button up shirt which just so happened to be his shirt, and scrunched it up. He could see her arms were frozen so getting her arms in first would be the best option.
"Careful,"
(Y/n) was grateful that Chimney helped her to pin the edges of the towel beneath her armpits so she still had some modesty protected. He carefully held her wrists and straightened them out as much as he could so Evan could reach over. Evan leaned his head over her shoulder and curved his arms around her frame and pulled the shirt cuffs over her hands and pulled it up.
He whispered a small 'there we go' when he tugged it over her head and rolled it down. She let the towel drop to her waist when the shirt was pulled over her.
"Just the underwear," (Y/n) whispered quietly, they had forgone the bra as it would be too much effort and she didn't need the leggings or socks she had laid out. Just some bare formalities that would give her decency and cover her modesty. Evan's shirt went down to her thighs anyway so the underwear was only added precaution.
Evan moved his hands to her hips, trying to be modest and decent in front of the team so they didn't suspect anything. He gently lifted (Y/n)'s hips so Chimney could swiftly loop the underwear over her ankles and tug them up.
"Hen, you got that stretcher?"
"Yea-"
"(Y/n)? (Y/n)!"
Adrenaline and panic coursed through (Y/n)'s blood when she heard her father's voice boom through the apartment. As soon as he came into view, (Y/n) suddenly felt like she was a little girl again, calling him at work because she was home alone and frightened after a seizure. He always knew just how to calm her down and make sure she was alright.
Bobby took large gulps of air, trying to regain the energy he lost bolting up the stairs as soon as Hen's voice came through the radio.
It was indeed his daughter, no matter how much he had tried to tell himself it couldn't possibly be (Y/n) at this address. What was she doing here? Why wasn't she in her own apartment? Whose apartment was she in? Was she here all alone?
"Dad…" (Y/n) tried to reach her arms out but ended up crying when they strained in front of her and started to tremble so badly she had to let them flop back down to her lap. A bubbling sob left her lips when Chimney moved and her dad collapsed down in front of her, dragging her out of Evan's arms and into his own.
Bobby curled his arms around her waist and pulled her into his florescent jacket he had often seen her wearing as she grew up. He kissed the top of her head and rubbed a hand up and down her back, feeling the shirt was quickly growing damp.
When he was satisfied enough that she was conscious and alright, Bobby leaned back and moved a hand to cup her face so he could look her over.
"Oh, sweetheart, are you alright? How bad was it?"
(Y/n) let her nose brush against his shirt beneath his jacket and nudged her arms against his chest but she let out a growl when she couldn't even uncurl her fingers. Why wasn't it stopping yet? Why wasn't the effects wearing off by now? She wanted to hug the two most important men in her life and feel like she could control her body again.
"Less than a minute, dad, I can't," She tried to move her arms towards him but he knew what she was talking about.
He smiled and nodded, quietly shushing her as his hand moved round to cup the back of her head and hold her close again. She was awake, responsive and relatively alright considering the damage that could have happened. She could have broken something or gotten a horrid concussion from her fall but she had been lucky.
"It's alright, let's get you down to the hospital sweetheart." He pulled back and looked down at her with a smile, but his eyes did a quick sweep of his surroundings. "Who's apartment is this?"
"A friend's place," Leaning back, (Y/n) let her head flop back onto Evan's shoulder when her head felt like it was going to explode. Her temple was throbbing from where she had knocked herself out on the shower and she wanted to sleep it off and wake up from this nightmare.
"Cap, we should get her in the ambulance, she looks like she might slip back into another seizure… pulse is flitting." Evan pressed his fingers against (Y/n)'s neck but he didn't like how her pulse had gone from low to high and fluctuating. He could see the look in her dazed eyes and the little groans she was mumbling was a telltale sign that she might go back into another seizure.
"Yeah, Hen let's go."
"Uh Buck, I found this on the bedside table." Eddie poked his head round the doorframe and tossed a wallet towards Evan whose face paled significantly and he stopped breathing for a moment. "Is this your place?"
Shit, he forgot his wallet this morning.
Why wouldn't Eddie shut up? Couldn't he see the way Evan's jaw locked and he narrowed his eyes with a shake of his head. He needed to stop, they had been doing so well and this wasn't the time or the place for this conversation.
"Why is my daughter in your apartment?!" Bobby's voice lowered an octave but raised in pitch, thundering across at Evan who sank back on his heels.
This wasn't good.
"Evan-" (Y/n)'s weak voice cut into a gurgle when her neck tightened and her head flopped further back on his shoulder as her muscles straightened completely. Her legs bashed into into Bobby's thighs and straightened like rules with her toes pointing down like arrows.
He hands bent back until they were touching her wrists and her arms moved out a few inches like she was reaching for Bobby but couldn't quite get there. It was a better position than them being bound to her already bruised chest but her body was starting to spasm.
"I got you, it's alright come here," Evan tightened his arms around her waist and quickly moved into action.
He pushed forward and moved onto his knees, gently easing (Y/n) forward back onto the floor and he turned her on her side so her back was facing his chest. His lips pressed to her neck and he straightened her arms out and ran his hand up and down her waist.
"Airways are clear, heartbeat is good considering… keep breathing, you're doing great."
The anger disapated immediately and melted out of Bobby's system when he watched Evan expertly look after his daughter. Bobby reached out and took (Y/n)'s hand in both of his and ran his fingers up and down her arm.
"It's stopped, get her on the stretcher and let's go!" Evan moved his hands under (Y/n)'s shoulders when the spasms subsided and were replaced by trembling and a constant murmur showing (Y/n) was trying to speak but couldn't just yet.
Evan lifted her upper body and Bobby held her legs and they eased her over onto the stretcher Hen pushed into the room. But Evan froze for a moment when he caught Bobby's intense gaze.
"We'll talk about this later."
