Figuring out Hunter and his staff in this au

Context, This Au of Hunter stayed loyal to Belos until the day of Unity where he then stayed with the collector instead of King.

Explanation for Au, 1st set of sketches

By the time this WAD equivalent is done with the puppets free, the collector on their side, dead Belos , they try to reach out and offer kindness to the ex Golden guard especially after he was just possessed but he pushes it away and runs away. He basically gone rogue for some bit. The others try to capture him out of fear of what other witches may do to him if they catch him instead and also because this mentally unstable teenager should not be on his own. He also has his old golden guard staff still.

The collector doesn’t help them try to find him due to their guilt of how they treated him.

Hunter of course slips out their grasps every time and is able to combat them. He can be pretty antagonistic. It doesn’t help that he stays near the boiling sea which he’s immune to, which he takes full advantage of.

Writing tips for long fics that helped me that no one asked for.

1.) Don't actually delete content from your WIP unless it is minor editing - instead cut it and put it in a secondary document. If you're omitting paragraphs of content, dialog, a whole scene you might find a better place for it later and having it readily available can really save time. Sometimes your idea was fantastic, but it just wasn't in the right spot.

2.) Stuck with wording the action? Just write the dialog then revisit it later.

3.) Stuck on the whole scene? Skip it and write the next one.

4.) Write on literally any other color than a white background. It just works. (I use black)

5.) If you have a beta, while they are beta-ing have them read your fic out loud. Yes, I know a lot of betas/writers do not have the luxury of face-timing or have the opportunity to do this due to time constraints etc but reading your fic out loud can catch some very awkward phrasing that otherwise might be missed. If you don't have a beta, you read it out loud to yourself. Throw some passion into your dialog, you might find a better way to word it if it sounds stuffy or weird.

6.) The moment you have an idea, write it down. If you don't have paper or a pen, EMAIL it to yourself or put it in a draft etc etc. I have sent myself dozens of ideas while laying down before sleep that I 10/10 forgot the next morning but had emailed them to myself and got to implement them.

7.) Remember - hits/likes/kudos/comments are not reflective of the quality of your fic or your ability to write. Most people just don't comment - even if they say they do, they don't, even if they preach all day about commenting, they don't, even if they are a very popular blog that passionately reminds people to comment - they don't comment (I know this personally). Even if your fic brought tears to their eyes and it haunted them for weeks and they printed it out and sent it to their friends they just don't comment. You just have to accept it. That being said - comment on the fic you're reading now, just do it, if you're 'shy' and that's why you don't comment the more you comment the better you'll get at it. Just do it.

8.) Remove unrealistic daily word count goals from your routine. I've seen people stress 1500 - 2000 words a day and if they don't reach that they feel like a failure and they get discouraged. This is ridiculous. Write when you can, but remove absurd goals. My average is 500 words a day in combination with a 40 hour a week job and I have written over 200k words from 2022-2023.

9.) There are dozens of ways to do an outline from precise analytical deconstruction that goes scene by scene to the minimalist bullet point list - it doesn't matter which one you use just have some sort of direction. A partial outline is better than no outline.

10.) Write for yourself, not for others. Write the fic you know no one is going to read. Write the fic that sounds ridiculous. You will be so happy you put it out in the world and there will be people who will be glad it exists.

For your ghoul AU, besides the whole flesh consumption and more animalistic traits from smell and hearing does anythin per se useful come from Hunter's new biology?

He has some standard grimwalker headcanon stuff like immunity to heat and lungs turning into stone when sleeping. He’s a bit stronger and faster than the average witch and can see in the dark quite well. Reflective cat eyes! He produces more adrenaline which means he’s on fight or flight more often and his body is good at preserving energy.

Downside of that means he’s sleepy more often since he doesn’t have a proper diet so he often takes quick naps on the job when he can and has the heartbeat of a humming bird. He’s a bit more prone to passing out. When he’s in the human realm, he starts napping throughout the day.

Tbh a lot of stuff you can also chalk to being a child soldier like quick reflexes, flexibility(bro can fold like a lawn chair), agility, mithridatism and great balance.

When he starts eating properly post canon, he gets the zoomies due to more energy, grows a new set of stronger fangs and stronger nails.

Other than that’s he’s close to a normal witch, a part of me wants to add more stuff but I want it to be more believable since he is supposed to be the more ideal clone in terms of looks.

Past failed grimwalkers during early testing had stuff like claws, scales, tails, muzzle like faces, ect (closer to how grimwalkers are depicted in myths in this AU) before Belos was able to perfect the recipe. Hunter is the first grimwalker in a very long time that had something ‘go wrong’ in his creation because he was made too young which meant he went through a natural puberty/development unlike the other grimwalkers who were already fully grown.

I love that 3 times you've drawn blorbo Hunter eating pancakes and so im headcanoning that the reason is because the first time he saw a normal size pancake he just faceplanted in it as he ate and so Camila started making smaller pancakes just for him, I love him so much

Yes that is canon. He's just a silly little guy :)

They're still very large pancakes compared to his size because it's hard to make smaller ones without ruining the texture (though I'm sure he wouldn't really care about that) and Camila will only allow him the highest quality of pancakes

Luz puts on some movie thinking it’s a horror but is actually a gore fest and she’s lowkey horrified. The others seen stuff on the boiling isles but even they have their own limits. I think he’d find practical effects gore scrumptious looking the same way we find ghibli food tasty looking, it’s all too perfect looking. He’s of course very much ashamed of it
