If You’re Writing Something That Has A Difficult Topic In It, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PUT A TRIGGER WARNING

If you’re writing something that has a difficult topic in it, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PUT A TRIGGER WARNING AT THE START.

Your viewers can then make a choice to engage in your work. If they don’t, they are simply looking out for their mental health so they don’t get triggered emotionally. Which could be damaging. You actively lay out to the viewer what to expect going in.

A trigger warning also shows that you have respect for the topic you’re discussing. It also builds your follower’s respect and trust in you. Trigger warnings show that you are respecting your audience and putting them first.

You also respect mental health by doing this, showing that you understand the impact the topics are. You show empathy to the people you write your work to.

It promotes respectful writing. Writing that is mindful and humble.

You will not only get respect, but also keep some people safe mentally.

ok i’m in desperate need of advice!!!

the window is currently open for character regression for one or two or my characters but idk if should do it or not???

the only reason i’m doubting is because i’m kind of scared to😭 but the opportunity is there and i do think it could be interesting for the plot moving forward.

esp for the two characters i have in mind. god it’s hard to explain without spoiling my story but how do we feel about character regression? should i just say eff it and go for it?

to paint a picture: it’d be one of those instances where a character has reverted back to their old ways because of a “straw that breaks the camels back” moment, but deep down inside, they still care, they’re just trying to cope with all the hurt they’re feeling.

kind of alarming how all the thriller/horror story ideas i’ve gotten have come from dreams/nightmares i’ve had😁 it pays to have a twisted, fucked up mind.

i’ve never written a thriller/horror story so i’m very excited to further explore the genre one day. i totally haven’t already written a few test pieces/scenes.

god, if you all could take a peek into my writing ideas folder😭 pure chaos. idk how to simply focus on one thing at a time. i’m like an overzealous dog with the writing zoomies.

as discouraging as it can be writing to an audience of zero, i’m so locked in atp, idec anymore😭 delusion is my feul

i LOVE my characters and the little universe i created in my head sm, each of their books WILL be written and finished even if i’m the only one who knows of their existence!

i feel like i not only owe it to myself to see it through, but to my characters and their stories. they’re like my children, i can’t just abandon them because no one else is seeing their potential like i do?????

what kind of mother would that make me

i know some people hate when books have playlists… but i honestly love them sm.

from an author pov, it’s my way of showing readers which songs were going through my mind as i wrote the story AND which songs best relate/convey the emotions of whatever my characters are feeling/going through. it just makes them feel more real imo.

it’s also just fun! god forbid a girl have a little fun with her writing!

i’m surprised by how much i *love* writing in third person considering how much i used to dislike reading in third person.

finding my love for writing again has made me appreciate third person writing so much more!!!

third person chapters have become like an exclusive, special pov in my series since 90% of the chapters i write are in the first person pov.

what can i say, i love playing with/switching up pov’s mid story😄 whether it’s including multiple character pov’s in one book or surprising the readers by randomly jumping into a third person pov.

like you know it’s serious if you stumble across a third person pov in one of my books😭 shit is about to go down fr

Your best writing happens when you stop worrying about what’s “good” and just write. Messy, chaotic, too-long sentences. Weird, overdramatic dialogue. Scenes that make you feel something. You can always clean it up later, but the rawest, realest writing comes from writing like no one will ever read it.
