You thought you were concealing it well, but he noticed.
He noticed when you went to sleep three hours earlier than normal.
He noticed when you didn’t sing along to your favorite song in the car.
He noticed when you stared off into space during breakfast and barely ate before leaving for work.
Now you’re sitting together watching a movie like you do most Friday nights when you’re both home. Admittedly, you’re having a hard time focusing. You can feel Chris stare in your direction all of a sudden, though.
“I can feel that,” you mumble.

Summary-After the final fight with Vecna, Y/N gets hurt, sending her to the hospital
TRIGGER WARNINGS- Talk of injury, blood, hospital setting, tell me if I missed anything
A/N- I didn't really know how to end this one, so sorry for the crappy ending! Enjoy!!
Words Count- 2.6k
It was finally over, Vecna was dead. It was dead silent, no one making a noise. The group stood, looking at each other, slight, exhausted smiles pulling on their lips. Vecna lay in front of them, his gross, slimy body splayed on the floor, black blood oozing from his wounds, expanding as it continued to flow from the once human.
Nancy lowered her shotgun from her shoulder, sighing as the final demogorgon fell limp on the ground from a gunshot wound, letting out one last screech as it died.
Then the celebration started. Steve and Robin hugged each other tightly, Nancy and Johnathan kissed, Johnathan then pulled Will into a hug, smiling at him. Hopper and Joyce embraced and kissed each other, letting out heavy sighs of relief that the fight had finally come to an end for good. Mike lay with El in his arms, exhaustion overcoming her body from fighting Vecna, smiles on their faces as they watched Dustin and Eddie hugging each other, jumping around like crazy people, Lucas and Max holding each other in tight embraces.
Eleven's eyes caught sight of the only remaining member, Y/N, who sat off to the side, breathing heavily. El squinted her eyes, taking a minute of staring at the older girl, to realize she had a piece of wood impaled in her chest. The younger girl scrambled to her feet, forgetting all about her exhaustion, rushing to the oldest of all the teen girls. El fell to her knees, looking at the wound to the other girl's chest, tears welling in her eyes.
"Oh my God. Eddie!" Mike called as he followed his girlfriend to where she was off to in such a rush. Everyone fell quiet, the only noise came from Y/N, her labored breathing becoming apparent to her friends around her.
When Eddie saw who El and Mike kneeled next to, his heart dropped, rushing to his dying girlfriend. "Oh my God. Y/N/N. W-what happened?" He asked, tears filling his deep brown eyes. Y/N looked up at him with glazed-over eyes, giving him a weak smile, blood coating her teeth, but she hadn't even noticed the metallic taste in her mouth.
"I-I-I had a little accident. Didn't m-move out of the w-way f-f-fast enough I gu-guess." She stuttered, a string of blood mixed with saliva falling from her lips as she spoke in a quiet voice. The metalhead could faintly hear Hopper instruct Steve and Robin to bring a car around to the front to pick Y/N up, the two older teens following orders quickly. Eddie moved to sit next to his girlfriend, trying to move her onto his lap, but she only whimpered out, and all movement ceased. Eddie didn't want to put her in more pain than she was already in, so he sat next to his injured girl, stroking her hair every few seconds. "Hurts, Eds." Y/N muttered, her words almost too stung together to make anything out of.
"I know baby, I know. Just hang on for me for a few more minutes. Harrington and Robin are bringin' the car around to take you to the hospital. Just keep those pretty eyes open for me for a little while longer, pretty girl. Come one Y/N, keep those eyes open for me!" Eddie voiced, watching as the y/e/c color of Y/N's eyes fluttered closed, but would open only a second later.
"Car is here!" Robin yelled as she rushed back into the building. Hopper moved to the injured girl, telling Eddie to help him get her into the car, Eddie doing as told. Everyone rushed after the three, watching as Eddie got into the back of Steve's car first, helping to guild Y/N into the back with him, resting her head on his lap. Hopper shut the door once the girl was fully in, telling Eddie everyone would meet him at the hospital in a while after they all cleaned up. Eddie simply nodded his head, telling Steve to go. The tires squealed on the pavement for a second before the BMW was flying out of the parking lot of the old Starcourt mall, where the fight ensued.
The car tore down the roads, Robin occasionally turning around to check on her friends in the back, making sure Y/N was still awake and responding to her boyfriend.
"Hey, Y/N, baby, keep your eyes open for me! Stay awake princess, we're almost there. Steve, go faster, I'm losing her!" Eddie yelled, trying to keep the fading girl in his lap to stay awake. Steve pressed down on the gas pedal harder, shifting the gear, the car lurching forward just slightly before picking up speed, bringing them closer to the hospital. Eddie stared down at Y/N, watching as her eyes drooped more, trying to coax her to stay awake. Y/N fought against the inviting sleep that was encasing her, but she lost when it wrapped its sloth-like fingers around her, encasing her in a darkness that she wasn't entirely sure she would wake from.
~*~
The incessant beeping of something close to her woke Y/N from her slumber, bringing a hundred-pound brick of pain with it. The sloth-like fingers that encased her before unraveled from around her, but also dropped the brick onto her chest, shoulders, and sides, refusing to let up. An itching feeling crawled up her arm, pulling her other arm to her side, scratching at whatever was causing the itch. Her fingers felt tape and something sticking to her arm, so naturally, she started to pick at it, trying to get whatever it was, off of her arm. Warm hands grabbed onto her, pulling her hand away from her arm, wrapping themselves around her hand and setting it back down on the bed.
"Leave the IV alone, princess. It's there to help you." She heard a voice say from next to her, the same place she heard the beeping coming from. It took her a minute to register who the voice belonged to, but it wasn't long before she was opening her eyes to see her boyfriend sitting next to her bed. His hair was pulled into a bun on the top of his head, a look Eddie knew Y/N loved, his torso covered in a hoodie. He had bags under his eyes, dark compared to his usually light skin. His lips looked irritated, chapped and red from the constant picking and chewing he did over the last few days. But, the thing Y/N noticed over everything else, was the bright smile he had on his lips. His perfect teeth shown through his smile, radiating warmth towards Y/N.
A sudden pain rushed through Y/N's chest and shoulders, eliciting a whine of pain from her lips. Eddie sat up suddenly, placing his warm lips on his girlfriend's hand, watching as she breathed heavily, trying to will the pain away. When it calmed down, the girl slowly opened her eyes, looking over at Eddie. "What happened?" She asked, having no memory of how she got here, or really even why she was here.
"We fought Vecna, remember? We were in the old Starcourt mall. We didn't realize that Henry had built a kind of home there. We fought him there and killed him. He's dead, baby. It's finally all over. No more Upside Down shit. It's all over." Eddie said, a beaming smile on his face.
"But how did I get here?" Y/N asked, trying to recall the events at Starcourt that lead to her laying in a hospital bed.
"When we were fighting him, you got hit in the chest with a wood chunk. It went into your chest and hit one of your lungs. You almost died, but we were able to get you here just in time. You died on the operating table twice, baby. They had to revive you two times before they could get the wood out of your chest. But they were luckily able to pull the wood out and stop the bleeding before you started to code again. You've been asleep since then. That was four days ago." Eddie explained, playing with her fingers as he spoke. "You gave me quite the scare there, princess. I thought I lost you that night." The dungeon master mentioned, tears falling from his sad brown eyes. Y/N removed her hand from his grip, bringing it up to his face to wipe the tears away, letting the palm of her hand rest on Eddie's cheek, allowing him to nuzzle his face into her hand, finding comfort in being so close to her after days of no contact with her.
~*~
Not long after, Eddie went and got the doctor so he could examine Y/N. He confirmed she was okay, saying he would like to keep her for several more days before letting her go. Once the doctor left, Eddie all but jumped into bed with Y/N, snuggling close to her, making sure to be careful of the stitches on her chest. "Rest Eddie, you need it. I'm not going anywhere." Y/N told Eddie when she saw his eyes drooping. The metalhead nodded tiredly, falling asleep only minutes after he agreed.
The couple slept the rest of that day and all through the night, waking up mid-morning the next day. As the pair ate breakfast, Steve, Robin, Nancy, and Max came to see them. They were happy to see their friend finally awake, talking to her, asking her how she was, making sure she had everything she needed, overall, just fusing over her. Once she was able to calm the four down, they sat and talked quietly.
"Hey, baby. Are you okay if I go and shower? I won't be long, ten minutes tops." Eddie asked from behind her in bed, moving her hair off her neck and behind her shoulder.
"Yeah, I'll be fine Eds. Take as long as you need. I've got these guys to keep me company." Y/N replied to him, planting a kiss on his lips as he got out of bed and walked to the bathroom in her room.
"You know he never left right? He hasn't left this room once since you were put in here four days ago. And he hasn't left the hospital at all since that night. He's stayed put ever since." Steve said once he heard the shower go on. The girls confirmed what he said, telling her how he hasn't even left the hospital to smoke. He sat in the waiting room while she was in surgery, sat next to her in the recovery room, and now has sat in this room waiting for her to wake up.
"He had Dustin go to his house and get a bag full of clothes and his other things for him so he didn't have to leave. He said he didn't want to risk not being here when you woke up." Max said, smiling softly at the care Eddie had for Y/N. Just then, the bathroom door opened up, and Eddie came out of the room with a new set of clothes on, towel drying his hair. He smiled sweetly at her, tossing his towel over the chair under the window to dry.
"I think we should get going, let you rest some more Y/N. Glad to see you awake and doing better. We missed you." Nancy said, slowly ushering everyone out of the room, giving Y/N and Eddie a warm smile before she walked out of the room. Just as they walked out, a nurse walked in, looking over the chart on the wall.
"How are you feeling right now, Y/N?" She asked in a sweet tone, grinning at said girl.
"I'm alright. Still tired but I'm sure that will stick around for a while." She replied, resting her head back on her pillow.
"Are you feeling up to a shower? I'll help you and we can go as slow as you need." The nurse asked, walking closer to the bed, putting the side railing down as she talked.
"Yeah, I would love nothing more than a shower. I feel gross. I've never gone this long without a shower." Y/N snorted, making the nurse grin at her, and Eddie chuckle under his breath at his girlfriend.
"Alright. You're okay to wear whatever you want, as long as it's not tight or constricting on your chest and shoulders. I'll help you into the bathroom and if you need help showering, I'll be there to help." The nurse reassured, smiling gently at Y/N.
"I have some extra clothes for you here, babe. I figured you'd want to get out of the hospital gown as soon as possible, so I had Dustin grab something for you." Eddie said, getting up from the bed and digging through his bag for something that Y/N could wear. He came back with one of his shirts and a pair of pants, handing them to the nurse.
"Alright sweety, let's get you showered!" She said, helping the injured girl into the bathroom.
~*~
The bathroom door opened up, pulling Eddie from the random show he was watching on the tv, seeing Y/N walk out first, the nurse behind her for support. She shuffled across the floor carefully, gently sitting down on the bed when she got to it. She swung her legs up onto the bed, covering herself with the blankets once she was comfortable enough. The nurse quickly bid her goodbye, reminding her if she needed anything, to press the call button.
Y/N sunk down into the bed, looking over and Eddie with tired eyes, giving him a soft smile. "Hi, baby. Have a good shower?" Eddie asked, stroking her wet hair.
Y/N nodded her head, letting her eyes close for a moment before she opened them again. "It was great but it really kicked my ass. I didn't know taking a shower could be so tiring." She said with a quiet giggle, making Eddie laugh too.
"I'm sure. I do have to say though, you look really good in my clothes. They just swallow you whole, don't they?" Eddie laughed, looking at his girlfriend in his clothes. His Hellfire shirt nearly hit her knees, meaning she didn't really need the sweats she was wearing, but she put them on anyway, seeing as she was so cold. "Go to sleep princess. I'll be right here with you when you wake up. I'm not going anywhere." Eddie said, letting Y/N cuddle into his side as she slept.
~*~
"Alright, clean your stitches twice a day and put this over it once you're done cleaning it. Eddie, don't let her lift anything heavy until she has the stitches out and don't let her do too much. Her lungs are still healing too, so it's going to be hard to do some things right now. Just give yourself time to heal and you'll be fine. And no more getting wood chunks embedded in your chest, I don't want to see you back here for that. I'll have someone call you to schedule your follow-up appointment." The doctor said, handing papers to Eddie before he let the couple go.
Eddie pushed the wheelchair out of the front doors to the hospital, to the side of his van, helping Y/N up into the passenger side before he returned the wheelchair and got in on his side.
"You ready to get out of her, princess?" He asked, putting his seatbelt on. Y/N nodded her head, flashing him a wicked smile.
"Yes! Now, let's go to our spot in the woods!" Y/N said with a spark in her eyes, making Eddie nervous.
"I don't think so! You, princess, are going home and resting until you get those stitches out." Eddie said, throwing the van into gear and pulling out of the hospital parking lot. Eddie could hear the sigh from beside him, stealing a glance at his girlfriend, seeing her pouting in her seat. The metalhead snickered to himself, pulling out onto the road, driving himself and Y/N home to his trailer.

“Dude.” Argyle leaned in for a closer look, staring deeply into the unimpressed, brown eyes peering up at him from her place in her bouncer, tiny fists curled near her head, fuzzy with dark curls. “You had a baby.” Eddie snickered while Jonathan shook his head in amusement. “Yeah, I know that, man.” “No—you don’t get it, man! Like, you had a baby. You’re a dad. She is composed of half of your DNA. The fruit of your looms!” Jonathan choked on the cold pizza he’d been scarfing down at that bit of Argyle’s rant. “She’s—Oh, she got your eyes, too.” Argyle ended on a coo, a finger reaching down to run over her soft, chubby cheek. From the moment you and Eddie brought Penny home three weeks ago, you’d been attached to her. Utterly and completely obsessed with the perfect little being your body had spent months creating. While you’d been initially incredibly hesitant to meet her—coherently, at least, she’d been placed on your chest briefly when you’d been having a horrible out of body experience from the pain of having just pushed her out seconds before—it was hard for you to put her down now. You blamed that newborn baby smell. It was your weakness, if she was cradled against you, your head was angled down to sniff at her hair. You loved bonding with her in general, but your mother had made sure Eddie knew to not let you withdraw from society once Penny came, and then she’d told Eddie all about Postpartum Depression, effectively scaring the shit out of him. So that’s how you ended up having a girl’s day with Nancy, Eden and Robin. Sure, you’d started crying after showering your little baby in kisses and love and you’d had to be literally dragged out by the girls but Eddie knew you’d have a good time.
Just like he knew he could totally handle Penny on his own. Jonathan and Argyle had come along with the girls, but both were entirely too curious about Penny to leave. Not at all because Eddie had body blocked the door once they realized their ride was driving off. Alright, he was still scarred from day two out of the hospital. Max and Lucas had come over to the trailer to visit Penny—Lucas loved holding her, you found it so cute—when you had gone to change Penny’s diaper and immediately began crying out for help. Eddie had never bolted so fast in his entire life with Max and Lucas on his heels, and the sight that greeted them was horrifying in a new parent sort of way. Penny had shit so violently once you’d undone her diaper that it was splattered on the wall, she was peeing all over your hands, and she’d thrown up, the milky looking substance also leaking out of her little nostrils. She herself didn’t look at all phased by what she’d just done. So, yeah. Maybe he needed a little back up for now. “Who’s got beautiful, angel eyes? Who’s got beautiful angel eyes? You do! You do!” Eddie watched Argyle gently tap her little nose, and his heart warmed when he could see his baby smiling around her pacifier. He knew it was probably just gas since she was starting to learn how to use her face, but he liked to imagine she knew just how much everyone loved her; that she’d never have to feel like he did growing up, unloved and alone until Uncle Wayne had stepped in when his father had been arrested and he had no one else. His kid had family. And a damn good one at that. “You can pick her up, if you want.” “Whoa.” Jonathan warned. “Hey now.” Argyle took a physical step back from the newborn, eyeing her skeptically. “And risk dropping her—man, that’s not cool.”
“You won’t drop her, so long as you hold onto her. Kind of common knowledge, but simply don’t let go.” Eddie rolled his eyes, stretching forward from the couch to slip his finger into her tiny little hand. She gripped onto it immediately, and he leaned closer to give it a kiss, inhaling the scent of her skin. He couldn’t blame you for sniffing her all the time—she did smell ridiculously good.
“Fine, man. Then you get her out of that chair thingy, ‘cause I don’t wanna hurt her or something. I’m used to Eden’s siblings, they’re like uh a little older by like a lot and stupid invincible. One of her brothers came down the driveway on his bike just when I pulled up and I hit him with my car. Little dude just got right back up, kicked me and left!” Eddie’s eyes were wide as saucers as he carefully pulled Penny out of her bouncer—the three of them collectively awing in adoration when her lower half scrunched up on instinct as she brought her hands to the sides of her head— and stood up in front of Jonathan. “You get first dibs since you don’t currently have a likely hood of hitting my daughter with a car at some point in her life.” Jonathan immediately looked like he wanted to runaway, but ended up hesitantly accepting Penny into the crook of his arms as Eddie handed her over. It had been a while since he last held a baby, the last having been Will and he’d been a kid then, too.
He took to it naturally, though, his body relaxing as he held up her hand, thumb rubbing gently over her soft palm. Her squishy little fingers wrapped over his thumb as she stared up at him, most likely curious about a face she’d seen a couple of times before, but not so often this close. Or maybe she wasn’t thinking at all.
“She’s so. . . small.” That wasn’t what he meant, he’d meant she looked so innocent, so fragile to the world around her. She wasn’t even his kid, but the longer he held her, the more sure he became of the fact that he’d kick ass to keep her safe, something he didn’t do very often, but very effectively. “I’m an uncle.” Eddie smirked, filled with pride as his daughter won another skeptic over. Jonathan ran a hand over her head, mindful of her soft spot, in awe of how soft her hair was. Damn, she really was cute. And she did have Eddie’s eyes. “She’s a pretty baby.” He commented, moving his thumb around in her hold. “Not gonna lie, I thought she’d you know, be a little ugly when she came out, what with having been squished through a hole, but no. She was even a pretty newborn.” Eddie admitted, he hadn’t seen a whole lot of newborn babies before Penny, but he knew they looked like little aliens fresh out the womb. “You and baby mama must have been some pretty cute looking babies, then. Any kids Eden and I have are screwed, man. I was hairy as hell and I’ve seen her baby pictures, let’s just say they’re gonna get double takes.” Argyle ranted, but he too was focused on Penny and Jonathan, looking a little envious. Once Jonathan got his fair share, he shifted her around in his hold, making sure to support her head as he transferred her into Argyle’s ready and waiting arms. He seemed to change his tune after witnessing Jonathan hold her and successfully not throw her across the room like a football.
Unlike Jonathan who hadn’t wanted to move her around too much in his grasp, Argyle sat her up right, making sure to support her head at Eddie’s prompting. Penny looked startled as her body tried to slump forward, stopped by Argyle’s hold on her. The pacifier stopped moving, and Eddie tensed, waiting for the cry but it never came. Instead, the pacifier began to move again and she let out a soft grunt, but she didn’t seem to mind all that much.
He relaxed, sinking into the couch on Jonathan’s other side. Argyle noticed her drooping lids and deciding to be brave, placed her back into her bouncer as gently as he’d seen Eddie handle her.
Eddie couldn’t help but grin down at her, taken with the way they’d drop completely only to shoot back up. He was reminded of all the late night conversations the two of you had, and how you always fought sleep off, keen on talking to him instead of sleeping. Your eyelids would get all droopy, you’d close your eyes, and then catch yourself, snapping up and briefly awake before doing it all over again. Eddie wondered how many more memories of you looking at Penny would trigger for him. He couldn’t wait to figure it out. As if she knew he was thinking about her, Penny’s gaze wandered to him and he locked eyes with a pair identical to his own. Then she forced her pacifier out of her mouth and began to wail something fierce. They all jumped up immediately, eyes wide at the sudden drop in her mood. “What did I do? Was it something I said?” Argyle asked, blaming himself as he began to panic. Jonathan was running his hands through his hair, distressed. “No, you didn’t do anything,” Eddie reassured him as he picked Penny back up and walked to the small kitchen, grabbing a bottle from a recent feeding attempt. “You hungry, little bitty pretty one?” He held the bottle to her lips but that only seemed to make her angrier as she struggled against it, head moving away from the nipple. Her face was all squished up and took on a darker tint as her wails died down to whimpers. Eddie knew what that meant. He was quick to place the bottle back down, but the damage was done. Penny was silent for the briefest of moments before she began shrieking. Water started to pull in the inner corners of her eyes—a new development, up until two days ago, all she could do was cry but her body hadn’t produced tears yet—and she let her little lungs ring loud in the trailer. Eddie knew his neighbors were probably cursing up a storm but they could kick buckets for all he cared. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. That’s not what you wanted, was it? My poor girl. Daddy’s gonna make it right.” Eddie soothed, cradling her to his chest with one hand holding the back of her head. It seemed to do some good, hearing his voice had stopped the piercing shrieks, but she was still crying and very loudly. He pulled her little baby bottoms back to check her diaper, but it was still clean so she couldn’t be upset about that. Eddie sighed, raising her a little higher on his chest so he could nuzzle her, pressing kisses into her sweet smelling hair.
Then it hit him. Penny was tired. That was it. She was just tired but unable to fully slip into blissful slumber on her own and she was upset about it. Eddie wanted to beat his head against the fridge for having overlooked something so obvious. He reached down to turn the knob of the radio, bringing it to life before he began searching for a station. Once he’d stumbled upon one crooning out oldies, he swayed, patting her bottom to further soothe her.
Penny’s cries died down almost immediately, turning into soft grunts instead as her lids began to droop again. It was after Eddie started singing along, his voice low and soft, that she was finally able to fall asleep, snuggled up to her daddy with a fist full of his hair that was most definitely going to be super fun getting out of her grip without waking her. Eddie turned to find Jonathan and Argyle watching them. Jonathan had a ghost of a smile on his face while Argyle stared at him in wonder. “Dude. You’re a dad. You just did a dad thing!” Jonathan grinned. “I agree. Looks like I’m the only freak in town now, you’re Eddie ‘The Dad’ Munson, now.” “Hell yeah, I’ll take it.” Eddie didn’t bother trying to hide his smile, he was cheesing’ it up. You’d called him something similar a couple of times. Teased him about being Eddie ‘The DILF’ Munson, which was really unfair given you hadn’t been cleared by your doctor to have sex yet, so he couldn’t make that a reality. “It’s crazy how this time last year, we were freshly graduated, you were eloping against every single adults’ opinion and now you have a baby. It’s mind boggling. But like, at the same time it’s not. . .I don’t know, help me out here.” Argyle slapped the back of his hand against Jonathan’s shoulder a few times.
“Being a dad suits you. You’re good at it. You’re a good dad and a good family man.” Jonathan supplied, meaning every word. He’d know, he had a shitty dad like Eddie did.
That one simple statement hit Eddie hard, and he held Penny just a little tighter to his chest. “Gotta give her everything I didn’t have.” — You nearly broke the door down when you’d gotten back to the trailer. Despite your hesitance to leave Penny, you’d actually enjoyed the time with your friends. Sure, you spent every single second you weren’t talking thinking about your little family, but you still had fun. The car ride back was spent wondering how much of a mess the place would be. Robin was expecting there to be a small kitchen fire, Eden was expecting one of the boys to be crying, Nancy was just curious to see how Jonathan had lasted in the presence of a baby. For future after college and established careers purposes, of course. You had faith in Eddie, had seen how quickly he had and still was adapting to being a dad. The others you couldn’t ball park so your money was on Argyle being the crybaby to which Eden quickly agreed.
But you hadn’t come home to any of that. The boys were all sat on the couch, fawning over your baby who had woken up in much better mood. “My baby!” You made grabby hands as they got up to greet you, and Eddie let you scoop her up from his arms in exchange for a kiss. You could hear Robin gagging when she realized she was third wheeling three different couples, so you assumed Nancy and Eden were also receiving ‘welcome back’ smooches. You leaned down to violently inhale Penny’s new baby smell, pulling back with a look of satisfaction on your face. “That’s the good stuff. How’d it go?” Eddie laughed as he pressed a kiss to your forehead and trailed a finger through Penny’s curls. “Oh, you know. Nothing I couldn’t handle.”

“Does he ever smile?” you sighed dramatically, flopping onto the couch beside Peter.
Peter barely looked up from his book. “Derek? No. I’m fairly certain the last time he did, a solar eclipse occurred.”
You groaned, sinking deeper into the cushions. “I knew dating him would be a challenge, but come on! I cracked tenperfect jokes today, and all I got was a broody eyebrow raise.”
Peter smirked, finally lowering his book. “That is his version of enthusiasm.”
You pointed at him. “You get it! So why can’t he?”
Peter chuckled, setting his book down. “Because my dear nephew has the personality of a wet paper towel. But I’ll admit…” He leaned in slightly, his voice lowering conspiratorially. “Watching you try to break him is highlyentertaining.”
Your lips curled into a grin. “Glad someone appreciates my comedic genius.”
“Oh, I appreciate more than that,” Peter mused, eyes glinting.
You rolled your eyes but couldn't fight the smile. “Focus, Hale. I need to figure out a way to make Derek laugh. Or at least smirk.”
Peter hummed thoughtfully, then snapped his fingers. “Tickle him.”
You blinked. “What?”
“Derek’s a wolf. Wolves have heightened senses. Which means he has to be ticklish somewhere.” Peter grinned like the devil himself. “Imagine his face if you just… went for it.”
Your eyes widened. “Peter. You’re a genius.”
“I know,” he replied smugly.
Not even a minute later, Derek walked into the loft, looking—as always—like he carried the weight of the world on his shoulders.
You shot Peter a look. He arched a brow, silently encouraging you.
Alright. Time to see if Peter’s theory holds up.
With the most innocent expression you could muster, you walked up to Derek, wrapping your arms around his waist. “Hey, babe.”
Derek sighed, already softening under your touch. “Hey.”
Then—attack.
Your fingers dug into his sides, wiggling furiously.
Derek jolted. “What the—?!”
He grabbed your wrists, scowling, but there was something else—a twitch of his lips, a barely restrained laugh.
“Oh. My. God.” You gasped, eyes widening. “You’re ticklish.”
Derek glared at you. “No, I’m not.”
“You so are!” You lunged again, but this time, he caught you, hoisting you over his shoulder in a warning hold.
You squealed, laughing. “Derek, admit it!”
Peter, still on the couch, was openly grinning. “This is the most fun I’ve had in years.”
Derek groaned, setting you down with an exasperated sigh. But as he turned away, you caught it—a tiny, barely-there smirk.
Your mouth dropped. “Wait. Was that—”
Peter clapped dramatically. “Ladies and gentlemen, she did it. She made the sour wolf smile.”
Derek shook his head, muttering, “You two are the worst.”
But you saw it again. That flicker of amusement.
Mission accomplished.

Steve comes out of the ensuite after his shower, his white t-shirt clinging to his body and hair damp. He throws you an easy smile, the kind that makes his blue eyes crinkle at the corners, as he heads towards the bedroom. But the moment he steps inside, he halts mid-stride, staring at the bed like it’s personally offended him.
There it is again: the pregnancy pillow. An immovable, unforgiving barricade that now divides your once-cozy bed like a dam, stretching from one end to the other. Steve tilts his head, squinting at it as if that might reduce its size.
He throws his hands on his hips and sighs dramatically.
“You know, I fought Hydra,” he says, voice dripping with exasperation. “I’ve been through hell and back. But this—” he gestures to the pillow, “—is the one enemy I can’t seem to defeat.”
You burst into laughter from your side of the bed, propped up by a series of other pillows meant to cushion every conceivable ache or discomfort. “Steve, it’s a pillow.”
“It’s a monstrosity,” he argues. “It’s like the Great Wall of China, but made out of—” he pokes at it cautiously, like it might snap back at him, “—fluffy foam and… whatever this is.” He groans, flopping down onto his side of the bed with a huff.
“Pregnancy pillows are supposed to be supportive,” you say in an exaggeratedly sweet tone, rolling your eyes.
“Supportive?” He scoffs, attempting to squeeze his hand through the tiny gap between the pillow and your hip. “It’s so supportive I need to make an appointment to get within three feet of my wife.”
You press your lips together, trying not to laugh as you watch him contort, his long arms flailing. “I know it’s not ideal, but I need it, Steve.”
“Why does it have to be so big?” He sounds like a sullen child, tugging at the end of the pillow like he’s considering wrestling it out of the bed entirely. “Can’t they make a smaller one? One that doesn’t make me feel like I’m living on the opposite side of the planet?”
You shake your head. “Trust me, if there were a way to make it smaller and still work, I’d be using it.”
Steve finally manages to get a bit of his arm over the pillow’s edge, his fingers barely brushing your shoulder. He lets out a soft noise of triumph, and then—he leans in close, his forehead almost bumping the pillow’s fabric.
“Hey,” he murmurs, as if the pillow itself is an eavesdropper. “Wanna come over to my side?”
Your laugh breaks out fully then. “Are you trying to seduce me over a pillow, Rogers?”
“Absolutely,” he deadpans, his face all faux-seriousness. He wiggles his eyebrows and purses his lips. “I’ve got ‘plenty’ of space over here, you know. Might be a little lonely, though. Could use some company.”
You lean back into the pillow, giggling at the sight of this fully-grown super soldier pouting at a piece of fabric. “I’m not crawling over this thing. You’ll just have to wait until the baby’s born.”
Steve blinks, his face crumpling in over-the-top shock. “Wait. Until the baby is born? That’s months away!”
“Yup.” You nod solemnly, enjoying the way his mouth drops open.
“Months?” He repeats, shaking his head as if he can’t believe what he’s hearing. “I’m supposed to be a dad in a few months and I can’t even get a hug?”
You finally give in, shifting to face him.
“C’mere, you big baby.” With some maneuvering, you manage to reach over the pillow, clasping his face between your hands. He grins triumphantly and leans into your touch, his eyes fluttering closed as if it’s the greatest victory he’s ever won.
Steve kisses your palm, peeking an eye open at the pillow. “We’re not done yet, pillow,” he mutters dramatically, earning another peal of laughter from you.
He straightens and stares at the pillow again, rubbing his chin like he’s trying to come up with a strategy. “Maybe… I can find a way to make this work.”
“Oh really?” you tease. “You’re gonna outsmart a pillow?”
“Absolutely.” He nods firmly. “If I can’t get past it, I’ll just have to—” With sudden determination, Steve heaves his leg over the top of the pillow, straddling it awkwardly like he’s mounting a wild horse. You raise an eyebrow, biting back a grin.
“Steve—”
He shushes you, waving a hand. “Shh. Let me have this.”
You watch, thoroughly amused, as he tries to maneuver his entire body over the pillow without crushing it—or falling off the bed. He flops, shifts, and mutters curses under his breath, but finally—finally—he makes it to your side, lying beside you with a triumphant smirk.
“See?” he pants, a little out of breath. “I did it.”
“Wow,” you say, clapping lightly. “Captain America, conqueror of pillows.”
“Damn right.” He beams at you, his face flushed from the exertion. “Now…” He reaches for you, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you close, despite the awkward angle. His hand, large and warm, comes to rest gently on your rounded stomach. His thumb makes slow circles over the fabric of your nightshirt, brushing against the small rise. The smile that spreads across his face is soft, almost reverent.
“Hey there, little one.”
The teasing, playful glint in his eyes fades to something softer, more intense as he gazes down at your belly. His palm splays wide, covering the bump entirely, and he rubs with a featherlight touch. You feel the familiar flutter of movement beneath his hand, and Steve’s entire face lights up.
“Did you feel that?” He whispers, eyes wide with wonder, his breath catching.
You nod, your hand covering his, sharing the moment with him. “That’s your baby, Steve.”
He swallows hard, blinking away the sudden moisture in his eyes as he continues to trace gentle patterns on your skin. “I can’t believe it,” he murmurs, almost to himself. “I can’t believe… this is happening.”
Your heart aches at the vulnerability in his voice, the raw emotion he’s never been able to hide from you. “You’re going to be a wonderful dad.”
He leans in, pressing a tender kiss to your forehead. “Only because you’re going to be an amazing mom,” he murmurs against your skin. His hand lingers on your stomach, his fingers spreading as if he’s trying to memorize every inch of it.
The baby shifts again, and Steve lets out a soft laugh, a sound filled with awe. “I’m pretty sure this little one already loves you more than anyone else.”
“And what about you?” you tease, reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind his ear.
He shrugs, eyes still fixed on your stomach. “I’ll just have to win them over.” He glances up, a mischievous smile tugging at his lips. “Starting with getting rid of this pillow.”
You laugh, shaking your head. “Nice try, Captain. It stays.”
He sighs dramatically but leans down to kiss your belly one more time. “Okay, okay, you win,” he mutters, though the smile on his face is nothing short of blissful. “For now.”
You lean back, resting your hand atop his, and the two of you stay like that for a while—Steve murmuring quiet promises to the baby, his fingers drawing lazy circles over your belly. Even with the pillow still stubbornly wedged between you, it’s one of the most intimate moments you’ve ever shared.
Steve might be fighting a losing battle against the Great Pillow, but right now, with his hand on your stomach and your laughter filling the room, he’s never felt closer to you.
Steve and Eddie having to drive the kids somewhere and since there’s nine of them in total, ten if Robin is tagging along, they have to take two cars so obviously the ones with actual licenses have to drive. And Eddie is immediately like “I’ll take the boys, you can take the girls” but starts to doubt his decision right away because uhm why does Steve seem so happy about that?
Eddie really thinks it would be easier this way. I mean he knows most the boys little better and. They’re all guys? Nerdy guys too. He can handle them. Steve can try to deal with the girls. Like Robin is a force to be reckoned with and he has to have Max AND Erica in the car with him as well ? With the addition of a girl with actual super powers? Yeah sure Eddie is the one who’s gonna have it easy…
Or so he thinks. He just forgot to take into account the fact that the girls? They all get along just fine. Meanwhile the boys? Sure they are best friends but they can have a debate over EVERYTHING. And they will too.
This would be most hilarious comedy scene honestly. Showing Steve and the girls in the car. The music is nice and everything is calm and they’re all smiling and having fun. Switching to Eddie and the boys and it’s all heavy metal and screaming and rage and something might be on fire too- and cut back to Steve and girls and they’re just happily singing along their pop tunes.
Eddie is gonna need a vacation after this car trip.
Bucky knowing he’s adorable. He knows all he has to do is bat his baby blues and it'll make anyone fold instantly. He's become such a little shit about it too, because he acts so oblivious while knowing exactly what he's doing.
“For fucks sake. No. NO. Do not look at me with those puppy eyes it won’t work” Sam shook his head, refusing to look at Bucky's face while the soldier blinked innocently with a small pout on his lips.
"I didn't do anything" he shrugged, acting as if he hadn't swiped the last cookie with the evidence sprinkled on the front of his shirt.
"You're something else" Sam grumbled, rolling his eyes at the puppy like look Bucky had on his face, "You can't keep making that face and getting away with this, keep your grubby hands away from my oreos"
Sam only manages to keep up the act for so long before reluctantly opening a new box, pushing it towards the brunette who smirks, swiping another handful.
"Unbelievable"

"Who the hell broke another punching bag in the gym-
“He’s right behind me isn’t he” Tony deadpanned, knowing Bucky was slinking about somewhere, batting his brown lashes, making his job 100 times harder. "Barnes I swear-
The billionaire turned around to find Bucky tiptoeing around the mess he made with wide, remorseful eyes making the billionaire groan.
"Don't look at me like some dame in the 40's, that cute face won't work on me"
"Did you just call him cute"
"Shut up"
"Well, you're not wrong"
-
"Bucky you're late" you frowned as he ran over to you, dressed in all black, ready to take you to dinner.
"M'sorry doll" He pouted, burying his face into your neck, "Didn't mean to keep you waiting"
"You're doing it again, this is cheating, you can't keep acting adorable and getting away with being late to our dates" you huffed, eventually melting into his needy cuddles, missing his little naughty smirk. Of course he didn't actually mean to be late and he really was sorry but he loved when you fell for his sweet charm.
"Did you see that? That little smirk he just made" Sam hissed while Steve snorted, lowkey happy to see this version of Bucky making its way back. "He gets away with everything, it isn't fair"
"Well I think it's adorable" Nat smiled watching him dote on you while Steve hummed in agreement. "He's a little cutie"
"He's a little shit"
I love you Joe Keery. Thank you.
