More Vat7k pirate AU (inspired by JRWI Riptide)

And here’s some info on the characters and what they do in this AU:

I have like the first 5 chapters planned out, but I’m still relistening to the Hole in the Sea to figure out what exactly happened there, because it’s the main plot point of the whole show.

Some other stuff, mainly for those familiar with Riptide:

-Yes, Nuru is from Edison kingdom. I thought the child prince could have been explored a bit more, and so I made it into Nuru. Also yeah, his dad’s name is Thomas Edison. Sorry.

-Olivia is still there, I just didn’t draw her! She’s still a mouse that Hugo made. Also, Olivia is the name of his long lost mom (a lesser pirate on the Midnight Rose). I will rename the ship sometime, if you have any idea what Donella would name a ship, let me know.

-Varian is NOT the Champion of the Undersea. That’s Rapunzel. The two grew up basically together (especially after Ulla’s death), and so Varian thought he could always ask her for help. She was the Chosen One for a reason, and if anyone can help, it’s her. Varian is kinda like Edyn in this!

-Varian can NOT speak Common the first couple arcs. This is because, like Gillion, I wanted to make him a stranger, an outcast on the Oversea, who’s kinda lost at what to do. But unlike Gillion, Varian is smart and would pick up on social norms up there pretty fast. Which is why, even though he gets the norms, he gets what’s going on, he has to have a way to still feel alienated from the rest. Therefore, language barrier.

Nuru speaks a little bit of Primordial (Varian’s mother tongue) so they can kinda understand each other. Not super well though.

-Yong is obviously the Ollie of this AU, but I haven’t decided if I want to make him have actual connection to Hugo (like how Ollie is related to Price who is a big part of Chip’s past)

My Hugo headcanons!!

He has a prosthetic arm that he messes with to make it stronger

He's an artist!! (I posted a rant about this not even a few minutes ago)

I think when he sings he sounds like Ricky Montgomery. Every time I listen to Line Without A Hook I immediately think of him.

Purposely gets on cryus's nerves. Cyrus already has anger issues so they aren't the best match. (I think after they got to corona Cyrus started working on his issues more, but Hugo always finds his way under his skin). They secretly see each other as brothers though and care about each other.

Neither Hugo or varian sleep. (I mean obviously they do but more times than not they're awake) They both have insomnia or are busy working. Whether Hugo can sleep or not he just picks up varian and throws him into bed and tries to help varian calm down. Their messy sleep schedule leads to taking naps a lot in a lot of random places. If they both finished work early they'll say "our sleep schedule is already ruined so let's take a nap at 3pm". At this point it's a joke within the friend group about how ruined their sleep schedules are.

I think both varian and Hugo would love weighted blankets. They both have pressure stims + it helps varians anxiety before going to sleep (part of the reason he can't sleep sometimes)

Btw I think Hugo has ADD!!

Post VAT7K He lets his facial hair grow out because it actually makes him look his age, but once he shaves it he looks 19 again. It's very rare that he does because he likes that "just grown out" look but he really doesn't like having a bare face

I think hes a dog person. He likes cats, he just likes the energy dogs have.

I think he took the name "Ruddiger" after him and varian got married.
