what we got: Mydei struggling with his nationality and birthright, valuing protecting the innocent over glory, having a soft spot for children, critiquing the culture of senseless war that treats soldiers as disposable, refusing to bend to other's expectations instead of doing what he believes is right

genuinely wasn't expecting him to be one of the best written characters I've come across in a while
