Unfinished Batman to match my vintage rogues hehe. This was only my like, second time drawing Batman,, for someone who's really into Batman I don't draw him that much lol sorry man
Thoughts ~
I wanted to lean more into historical (or historically believable) clothing rather than the sci-fi clothing he usually wears. Cape neck closure was based on a WW2 era military raincoat, he's also wearing spats and boots and jodphurs and the like. Mainly WW2 inspiration because I feel like people always skip over the fact that Batman was created in wartime America and it makes the history buff in me sad :(( Also some COLOR because he's all BLACK and GRAY and SAD nowadays (but still muted for nighttime camoflague)

Art of Mary from a year ago, fresh from the vault!! I kept it in a jar in formaldehyde just for you. pickled oc :]
THANK YOU!! Yes, the GS Collectors Guide is the book I have! I appreciate the link to the collection of catalogs, my historical society had a few but not from the years I was looking for. I love looking at the old catalogs and mail-in forms anyways! Glad to know the kerchief was a pick and choose thing too, I thought as much. I was going to pick a yellow one for my uniform because it seems like a classic color for a gs uniform. Very glad that people still are interested in old girl scout stuff!!
Hey are you actually interested in the history of Girl Scout uniforms because man oh man do I have some resources for you.
Yes. Yes I am. I dug through three whole boxes of girl scout stuff in my historical society's attic. I'm planning on doing an exhibit of the uniforms they have at some point. I haunt their attic for free.
Seriously though any resources would be helpful!! When looking online I found pretty much just summarized short versions of the history of GS uniforms from 1920-1960, nowhere near enough. However in my historical society's attic they had a book meant for collectors, and it had every badge and uniform and rank, and they were organized precisely by year which was quite a relief when putting together my 1939 GS outfit. But! That's the most I've found. One thing I haven't been able to find out is why some scouts had red kerchiefs, and some scouts had yellow ones. Doesn't seem to be because of rank, is it just troops' choice like the crest???? Idk if anyone can help me answer that one it'd be much appreciated lol
As long as everyone's sending chicken pictures heres mine π The buff in the first pic is my beloved Millie (short for mildred) <3 the rest are uh. Cryptids :) Last one is Juliet thinking what the HECK are those things (we had gotten new chicks hehe)
