Boitatá is a legendary figure in Brazilian folklore, arising from the anthropomorphization of the “Will-o’-the-wisp” phenomenon that occurs in Brazilian rivers. In each region, it is interpreted differently, but the most popular is that of a fire snake that lives in the waters and protects the forests against those who threaten them, being a type of guardian of the forests. The name Boitatá means “Thing of fire” in the Tupi-Guarani language.

In my fantasy interpretation, I wanted to represent the different shades of colors that fire can assume, depending on the material that is burned.

Height: 6’3” at default

Pronounz & sexuality: any prnz, panromantic

MBTI & alignment: XNTP-t, lawful good

☆ They’re the alien embodiment of the concept of duality!! They don’t exactly have a specific species though, so I’ll get into that first!!!

Twine wasn’t exactly, born?? They kind of just. Spawned into existence one day. That’s literally their origin. Well, summarized!

Their origin’z a liiiittle more complicated than that, but herez a mix of summary & detailed explanation:

Twine wasn’t conceived by parentz, they were simply formed by the universe itself! Or I guess. The multiverse. Cuz!! Twine was put together kind of liiiikeee,, a collage! The multiverse took bitz & piecez of the dominant speciez of many other worldz, and mushed them all together to create this abomination!! /aff ily Twine

As awesome as thiz. . thing. . . may be, there iz a sort of! Flaw!! Twine has no {proper} organz & no bonez! Not even fingernailz!

Thiz iz why Twine has no listed sex—they practically have doll anatomy

Since the universe could only observe so much from up above, it could only see the visible traitz of different speciez; last I checked, you can’t really see organz & bonez at a first glance!!! The universe didn’t really get all those detailz,,

Since they don’t have organz or bonez restricting their physical form, she can squash and stretch their body to his will! As seen in the ref sheet

Theoretically, Twine can stretch indefinitely, as long as they generate enough energy to manage that

This is also why their height is listed as “6’3” at default” and not just “6’3””, because they can change their height

Fun fact time:

The common species of the planet Twine was put on doez have unnatural colorz for skintonez & different patternz, but Twine’z specific pattern {black & white split} iz an impossible phenotype for the common species to have, so they’re VERY obviously not supposed to be there!!

But it’z okay—their friendz still love em :))

Twinez also physically incapable of being injured; since they have no blood, nervez, and essentially an infinite energy source, they just heal super fast with no consequence of injury

As seen in the image above—if Twine were to get hurt, a yellow light that I use to represent energy seepz out til the wound eventually closez itself

Small notez: Twine’z big pupilz are on purpose, they’re meant to represent black holez. & their design is supposed to include symmetry in order to convey the duality theme!
