“We Say Like Calls To Like, Girl. But If The Science Is Small Enough, Then We Are Like All Things.

“We say like calls to like, girl. But if the science is small enough, then we are like all things. The light lives in the spaces between. It is there in the soil of that mountain, in the rock and in the snow. The Cut is already made.”

This parallel between Red, white and royal blue & From Blood and Ash-

"You see, for me, memories are difficult. Very often, they hurt. A curious thing about grief is the way it takes your entire life, all those foundation years that made you who you are, and makes them so painful to look back upon because of the absence there, that suddenly they're inaccessible. You must invent an entirely new system."

And

"You just replace your last memory - a bad one - with a new one - a good one - and you keep doing that until the initial one no longer outweighs the replacement."

Once, there was a young prince who was born in a castle. His mother was a princess scholar, and his father was the most handsome, feared knight in all the land. As a boy, people would bring him everything he could ever dream of wanting. The most beautiful silk clothes, ripe fruit from the orangery.

At times, he was so happy, he felt he would never grow tired of being a prince. He came from a long, long line of princes, but never before had there been a prince quite like him: born with his heart on the outside of his body. When he was small, his family would smile and laugh and say he would grow out of it one day. But as he grew, it stayed where it was, red and visible and alive. He didn’t mind it very much, but every day, the family’s fear grew that the people of the kingdom would soon notice and turn their backs on the prince.

His grandmother, the queen, lived in a high tower, where she spoke only of the other princes, past and present, who were born whole.

Then, the prince’s father, the knight, was struck down in battle. The lance tore open his armor and his body and left him bleeding in the dust. And so, when the queen sent new clothes, armor for the prince to parcel his heart away safe, the prince’s mother did not stop her. For she was afraid, now: afraid of her son’s heart torn open too.

So the prince wore it, and for many years, he believed it was right.

Until he met the most devastatingly gorgeous peasant boy from a nearby village who said absolutely ghastly things to him that made him feel alive for the first time in years and who turned out to be the most mad sort of sorcerer, one who could conjure up things like gold and vodka shots and apricot tarts out of absolutely nothing, and the prince’s whole life went up in a puff of dazzling purple smoke, and the kingdom said, “I can’t believe we’re all so surprised.”

no but remember when Marco Alisdair asked Celia Bowen if she remembers all her audiences and she said she only remembers the ones who look at her the way he does and then he asked her what way might that be AND THEN CELIA SAID THE ICONIC "LIKE THEY CAN'T DECIDE IF THEY ARE AFRAID OF ME OR IT THEY WANT TO KISS ME" AND MARCO HAD THE ABSOLUTE AUDACITY TO ANSWER WITH "I'M NOT AFRAID OF YOU"-

Can we talk about how strong a character GENYA SAFIN is !!!

The part where she confesses poisoning the king and how the poison she made would take away years that he would never get back, how she POISONED HER OWN SKIN SO EVERY TIME HE TOUCHED HER HE WAS CONSUMING THE POISON and then so it wouldn't harm her, SHE BURNT IT OFF HER SKIN and then tailored herself. Genya Safin superiority>>>>

When I read the "I am not ruined, I am ruination." I got chills.

“Get up,” Chaol whispered. "Celaena,” he breathed, his voice laced with pain—and hope. This was all she had left—his outstretched hand, and the promise of hope, of something better waiting on the other side of that line.

Back when I shipped Chaolena</3

The whole point of inclusion and diversity in a show is so people can watch it and actually relate to the characters and be like "YES, SHE'S SMART AND BEAUTIFUL AND SUCCESSFUL AND SHE LOOKS LIKE ME, THEREFORE I CAN BE THOSE THINGS TOO". As someone who cried when Amita and Jessie talked about diversity in the industry, and as someone who's brown, I think it's safe to say that I found this whole ordeal to be disgusting.

90% of the content I've consumed in my life has been white-culture based. I grew up watching films and reading books that portrayed people who were nothing like me.

When S&B announced its casting and literally made it's whole marketing strategy 'Diversity' I was beyond happy. Amita talking about how hard she had to work to be able to do a pushup, let alone be INEJ made me have mad respect for her and the whole crew.

So seeing a white woman being PAINTED BROWN TO DO STUNTS FOR A CHARACTER WHO'S SUPPOSED TO BE BROWN really really stung. I don't know who's decision this was, and frankly I don't care. This one thing has changed so many people's perspective on a show that's literally based on a group of people who don't care about what the others look like, or where they're from, and love them regardless.

I really hope they take accountability for this and apologize. Because this may seem like a really little, meaningless thing to some white people, but it's a big deal to all those kids who read the books and then were BEYOND EXCITED TO WATCH THE SHOW. One brown woman in a netflix show that remained #1 for 13 days represents all those brown girls who believe that they too, would be accepted for WHO THEY ARE, NOT WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE.

Netflix, do better.
