Happy International Asexuality Day!!! π€π©Άπ€π
I saw this and had no idea where he was from fandom-wise; but it's very cool all the same! (I'm not great at drawing people so its fun to see people who can do that really well) Also, it reminded me of Gomez Addams and Howard Stark when I saw him. And now I want to look up The Magnus Archives so yay! π

Happy Sunday my sweet Bee, I am here to go off about 7x10 per your tags. And you reblogged the dock scene with the script, so I'm gonna aimlessly flail about specifically that for a moment.
It always astounds me just how much they did with that script. Like it's scripted that Mickey turns around and says "then tell me goodbye," but instead what we see on screen is him saying "tell me goodbye" while unbuckling Ian's pants. And then Ian shoves him away and hesitates for a moment, and we get to see Mickey's knowing little "what?" and truly I think Mickey biting his lip and saying "what" like that is the sluttiest he's ever been, like that is Thee slutty Mickey moment for me, hands down. And then Ian pulling his shirt off and Mickey nodding with his quiet little "mhm" like he just fucking knew. He fucking knew Ian was going to do it. To be fair I do think it would've been interesting for it to have played out how it was scripted, for Mickey to turn around and then say "then tell me goodbye," and then for him to look back over his shoulder at Ian with his slutty, daring little "what?" But I actually think what we got, with him saying it while unbuckling Ian's belt, has more of an edge of desperation to it that adds another dimension to the scene. Like yes Mickey wanted to see him, wanted to have sex with him, but uh. He really wanted to have sex with him. And Ian shoving Mickey away instead of him just hesitating for a moment while Mickey has his back to him really gives us an idea that he is battling with himself over this, like you can see it hit him. But then ultimately he gives in, and it doesn't take much because Mickey's draw is just that powerful.
I actually wonder if Mickey understood before then how much power he has over Ian. I get the sense that he obviously went into this knowing he'd get Ian to have sex with him, but he also didn't know he had a boyfriend until that moment. But like, he doesn't let it faze him? It doesn't trip him up at all, he just continues with his seduction. "What are you doing here then?" he says. Raises his eyebrows, challenges him. And Ian falls right back into him. He's gotta know, right? He's gotta know that he holds a ton of power over Ian in that moment. He has a boyfriend, yes, but after only a moment of hesitation he's given in to Mickey.
Damn, dude.
jessie. PHEW. thank fuck you sent me this, truly.
in my humble & horny opinion, the scene in the way we were blessed with it was truly the stellar take on what was scripted. another example of how truly magical it is to have actors who understand their characters to the point of just living, breathing & making moooves as they would. the "what?" THE "WHAT"!!!!! possibly noel's best improv since humping the cop car in 4x11, followed closely by the breathy, little "fuck..." mickey emits as ian licks into his goddamn ear! π₯΅
the scene as a whole is.... unhinged. mickey is peak slut. ian is pure simp. sure, sure protests are made, but like... also abandoned IMMEDIATELY. it's the absolute best how much uncertainty ian shows & how much mickey must feel, but doesn't show. i agree that as scripted, the "tell me goodbye" is interesting, but that the physicality between them in the moment completely overrode whatever was planned & that is a blessing upon all of our heads.
the power dynamic over ian is a really interesting question. i would actually posit that mickey is NOT AT ALL aware that he has any power over him at all. think about it--in 3x12, when mickey couldn't ask ian to stay, ian left. in s4, mickey goes looking for ian, but ian doesn't come back right away. it's only when mickey physically removes him from boystown & then svet threatens him in the shower that he goes back to the gallagher house. ian only goes back to mickey after wielding his own power over mickey with the whole blowjobs anytime, anywhere command. fast-forwarding to 5x12, ian breaks up with him... in 6x01, ian twists the knife... & then we're at 7x10, where yes yes earlier ian did come when mickey quite literally called, but overall i don't see anywhere in their history that would lead mickey to believe that he could drag his fingers down ian's neck & it would just CHANGE BOTH OF THEIR LIVES.
anyway, it sure changed mine!
beloved, thanks for going down this rabbit hole with me, today & always. feel free to continue this should you have new thoughts!
