This couldn’t come at a better time. Thank you soooooo much @simshai91 for sharing, I’ve recently started reorganizing my store items and I was worried that I would have to go back in and get all the Thumbnails for them but you literally saved my life 🤗
PSA for anyone organising their TS3 CC: download Sims 3 Thumbnail Extractor!
I have just downloaded a tool that will save me so much time in my CC re-organisation. Honestly, this just had me staring at my screen and going “Seriously? Holy crap!”
It’s the Sims 3 Thumbnail Extractor by Killc*a at MTS. All you do is leave it at default settings, choose a folder to scan, wait for a few seconds, and it will extract all the THUMB and ICON resources (if both exist within a file, it will extract both) inside everything in that folder. It works on package files and Sims3pack files, and it does it in seconds. (You can also choose individual files if you don’t want everything in an entire folder extracted.)
Prior to this I had been going through each file one at a time, opening it in S3PE, finding the THUMB or ICON files, using the option to open them in Paint, hitting Save As > JPG, typing the first letter of the name and scrolling to find the correct name, hitting the End key to go to the end of the filename so I can backspace out the .package or .sims3pack bit– Well, you get the general idea. Lots of work for one image. All of that work now takes literally seconds with this thing.
The video above will show you just how quickly it works. That folder contains 1,397 package files by LunaSims. To go through them individually would have involved several hours of non-stop work. This program processed them in a couple of seconds.
It managed to do 1,354 out of those files, meaning that 43 of them don’t have THUMB or ICON files, but it’ll be easy to sort those out, load them into my game and take screenshots of them.
My only bugbear is that it saves the images as PNG files, but there are tons of file conversion programs out there that will convert those to JPGs so you can save a bit of space.
(Now all I need is a program that will take the hundreds of extracted package files from a Sims3pack lot [which have gibberish names] and delve inside their XML files to rename the file with the actual item name, so that I don’t have to!)
So, I found tutorials on how to hide things from the catalog that requires manually opening and editing each package using s3pe, but I’ve found a somewhat faster way to do this, whilst keeping the original file unchanged, that I haven’t seen anyone else mention, so thought I’d share (I mean, someone else has almost certainly worked this out before me but I couldn’t find it anywhere). This requires CCMagic, and an understanding of how to make collections using CCMagic (very straightforward), and s3pe. Doing this will mean you can find all the items in collections, but they won’t be clogging up your catalog, eg Misc Decor (I had to do this as my Misc Decor had become so full, it often crashed my game when loading haha).
(This is also possible if you manually merge your CC, but you will have to add them to collections however you do that without CCMagic, I assume in game.)
Now, this is still a rather tedious process, and goddamn if someone could just create a program to do this for us I would die of gratefulness lol. But anyway, it’s still faster than the other method. And hey, maybe this will help someone 😊:

Thank you for this! Saw it on YouTube a few months back and thought that if everyone used this method then I would be motivate to download many simmer’s amazing sims, especially those who upload create a sim videos with a link to download 🥰
The issue with sending a .package is:
1) You do not know what CC is attached, it may be CC that you are not allowed to share!
2) The person may already have that CC so you are giving them unnecessary extra CC, slowing down their game
3) It includes the sliders, which causes that weird chin or eyelid glitch in game as the sliders clash
4) It can cause issues with exporting sims, leading to it failing to export
Really advise not to do this but to use the method in this video instead!! It is quick and easy :)

A short promotion of Nraas’ amazing Dresser mod, in case you’re not familiar with it already.
Download the Dresser mod from Nraas here: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Dresser
1) A quick way to remove ALL accessories from every person in town (for those times when you get frustrated seeing sparkly sunglasses and crowns and deer antlers on townies…. or in Aurora Skies where everyone annoyingly wears gloves with every outfit by default!) You can also do this on individual sims by clicking the sim instead of City Hall.
Click on City Hall –> Nraas –> Dresser –> Check Outfits –> Accessories –> Remove All
2) Apply settings for frequency of accessories and makeup, the ages and genders they’ll apply to, and number of total items applied (ie. only 2 accessories maximum for women, 1 for men)
Click on City Hall –> Nraas –> Dresser –> Check Outfits –> Accessories or Makeup
3) Auto switch out of sleepwear/naked/athletic outfits upon leaving the house and/or auto switch out of sleepwear to everyday when leaving the room
Click on City Hall –> Nraas –> Dresser –> Transition –> Switch On Outside or Switch Sleepwear on Room Change

Some related CAS functionality in Nraas’ Master Controller Mod:
Download the Master Controller mod here: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController
Click on City Hall –> Nraas –> Master Controller –> Settings –> CAS –>
allow adult clothes/accessories for teens and/or elders
multiple accessories per location (upper and lower earrings!)
multiple makeup per location (no need to sacrifice eyeliner for SClub’s beautiful eyelashes!)
show in compact form accessories/clothing/hats (this is a performance booster - it hides all alternate colors of items so you see three different items per row)
slider multiple (to exaggerate the effects of body and facial sliders)
blacklist (CTRL + right-click on an item in CAS to hide it going forward for that gender/age/clothing type… ie. heels which are misclassified for swimwear)

Sidenote - Its possible to save settings for all your Nraas mods to reapply them quickly in other towns using his Overwatch mod. Click on City Hall –> Nraas –> Overwatch –> Immediate –> Export Settings

MissPat mod notes:
Why this mod
We were chatting on Discord about cute features from TS4 Toddler Stuff Pack, that we wish existed in TS3. “Play dates” came to mind. Renlyna surprised us all when she said:
Quote: I did have a townie mother once call my active household’s mother up and ask if her kids could come over for a play date and I clicked yes and within a few minutes the townie mother came to my sims home with all her kids. I didn’t even know that was possible in The sims 3 and I have no idea how it was triggered. It was so random.
The above scenario never ever happened in my game. (It turns out it’s a feature that came along one of the Generations EP patches.)
I was curious to see if something could be tweaked to trigger the play dates more. When I looked up the game’s code, I found the tuning file related to play dates. I made changes and tested the new tuning files for 3 sim weeks. The testing was successful, so here goes - enjoy the mod.
I tuned the minimum relationship down to “5” to account for the natural relationship decrease between two sims over time. So if your active parent and child start as aquaintances to townies at “20”, then overtime, they will still get the playdate requests on week-ends, even if the relationship is way down to “5”.
Play dates Insights
While testing the mod I could gather the following insights:
The play date feature seems to only affect child-aged sims. I looked up closely and no toddlers are mentioned in the play dates code. If the townie parent comes along with toddlers to your sims’ play date, great! But it is not by design. It would likely require script modding to intentionally include toddlers in the play date scenario.
If after accepting the play date, the townie parent shows up alone sans his/her children, do not panic (like I did)! Townie children enrolled in a school with week-end hours will not show up. Indeed, the custom schools provided by the “Schools” module of Nraas Careers require kids to attend classes on Saturday and Sunday by default. You will need to enroll townie children in EA’s default school or tune the days of custom schools, to get these townie children to show up at your play dates.
I had no problems getting townies to request play dates on Saturday, often in the morning. To trigger play date requests on Sundays however, I had to quit the game on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. When I’d restart the game after that, I’d systematically get a play date request on the Sunday afternoon. In the play dates code, there is a line called “clear statistics”, and I can only assume that somehow, it takes reloading the game to clear data generated by the Saturday play date, so that a townie play date request can be renewed on Sunday.
