Alright, we all heard about Vinsmoke family being dicks to transfem!Sanji and misgendering her, but what about them still being dicks, but gendering her correctly? Something like:
Yonji: lmao haven’t seen you in a while bitch bo-
Sanji: I’m a woman.
Yonji:…
Sanji:…
Yonji:…
Sanji:…
Yonji:…haven’t seen you in while bitch-
They might be narcissistic, egocentric, evil pieces of shit bullying their sister but at least they address her properly.
People following me for my fanfic just to see my mid (peak) takes my b i do be writin that shi doe 🙏
Oda being a writer of heavy themes doesn’t mean every random interaction is abuse, that has nothing to do with the fact that Shanks and Buggy are not an abusive friendship. They literally fight over things the way they did as children. Shanks isn’t some helpless guy being abused, nobody thinks this way when they look into them, Buggy having a rough attitude and Shanks being the even-tempered one has always been their dynamic since they were kids. Shanks is capable of tricking Buggy by lying about a treasure map, he knows how to work Buggy, they can bicker and bite back at each other. It’s not even that shitty, it’s just a typical One Piece friendship between men. No one is stopping you from disliking it, it’s how you police other fans from liking a typical dynamic in the story that’s not even presented as toxic.
Posttimeskip, what has Buggy done to Shanks that feels terrible or abusive at its worst? They seem to be living their own lives. What have they done besides being typical enemy pirates working on different things and not talk to each other? Buggy canonically doesn’t even hit Shanks unless Shanks is also hitting him back like Nami does with the Strawhats. Buggy just says he’s angry over the treasure map. You could say objectively, even if Nami hits for the right reasons that’s still bad, beating up someone whenever you think they deserve it and they don’t fight back is still bad.
I basically mean you’re treating the shitty thing as unacceptable because it seems to be one of the crimes Buggy committed against Shanks. What change of behavior? He left to start his own pirate crew, neither of them sought each other out, what change of behavior are we supposed to see? They’re both enemy pirates going after the One Piece, at this point a sudden behavioral change doesn’t make sense and serves no purpose to the plot.
Nothing better to add then Buggy didn’t turn him down civilly. We’re suddenly judging characters by how civil they act in a show about pirates? Their father figure just died it was a pretty emotional moment. It was supposed to be a bad time and emotional fallout.
I’m explaining why that dynamic exists from the characters’ portrayal in the story. I’m not saying Shanks can ‘handle it’, I’m saying in his view the argument would be so meaningless he would either fight back equally petty or completely forget about it, because that’s who his character is. Most of these arguments are just stuff that annoys them, because there hasn’t been anything they seriously have to fight about, or it just highlights their differences. While Shanks seems to care about fun and adventure, Buggy cares about piracy the connection between him and Shanks is based on their shared life of piracy. So when their views of piracy don’t align they have to separate. When they fight about the North Pole and South Pole, it’s an equal disagreement and we don’t know how it started. When Shanks lied about the treasure map and Buggy gets mad, neither of them actually seem victimized, Shanks just looks smarter and like he knows Buggy well for being able to trick him. That’s their canon dynamic, and the author writes it as a funny way to depict old friends. Friendships have that kind of dynamic where you’re both reckless with each other. You see this kind of dynamic in characters and pairings throughout One Piece. It’s not even about abuse it’s about friendship dynamics being able to do things everything without it becoming a matter of hard feelings, close friends are able fight and be flawed that can be lighthearted without it being overly sensitive about every little thing, realistic close relationships argue and act like idiots. Sanji can simp and Nami can beat people up because they’re close enough they can act like idiots with each other and know it’s not seriously harmful.
What’s the worst thing they have to apologize for? The separation at Loguetown? That was Buggy’s choice as his own free person. Shanks or Buggy could’ve sought out each other for twenty years in East Blue if they wanted to. Neither of them have to apologize, both of them likely have regretful feelings, it was an emotional night where they saw Roger die. As a reader, we should know Buggy doesn’t pose serious harm towards Shanks.
I’m not downplaying Shanks’ emotions. I’m saying between them there aren’t any major fights that are worth taking seriously, besides maybe Loguetown, but even that separation was for the best. Even objectively, it’s not a crime to go their own ways. Any serious fight, Shanks would fight back as he’s not shy about doing so with Buggy, but when he doesn’t it’s because it’s a superficial matter. Or Shanks also has flaws and the problem dynamic goes both ways. Just because Shanks doesn’t visibly shout or get angry doesn’t mean he can’t also be a flawed person and bad partner. I’ve seen your post being angry over the idea Shanks would shower more and drink less if he was with Buggy. Those are both completely inconsequential things that don’t hurt Shanks, it’s just a habit of his that someone could nag him about. Most of the fandom content you seem to complain about aren’t actually as serious as you claim and not worth screaming toxic over, you think even a slight attitude is toxic. I’ve never seen content where Buggy genuinely considers Shanks trash and Shanks suffers through the pain to treat Buggy preciously but you act like it’s everywhere. I’m not sure what example you’re talking about when it comes to serious arguments where Buggy treats him like trash over something genuinely serious and Shanks just doesn’t fight back. Most seem either like a joke or an inconsequential fight like the fruit and map, or because of the Loguetown fallout which was a miscommunication as kids anyways, so what other serious matter is there?
So many of these characters would be crazy in real life, if I was constantly thinking about real life I wouldn’t be able to watch the Strawhats because they’d be so much worse in real life. Buggy having an attitude and still being simped after looks incredibly tame compared to viewing the other characters through a real world lens. But this is a fantasy story where the bad attitudes play a role in entertainment and over-exaggerating character dynamics.
I understand if you just don’t like a character dynamic, but this is a fantasy story where every character dynamic is exaggerated for entertainment in some way. They’re enemy pirates, they aren’t even currently on speaking terms. One is the one who holds no grudges, the other still does, and fans just play on this existing dynamic because it aligns with their characters. It’s not even that absurd because Buggy is someone close to Shanks, they separated, had a petty fight, and are separately operating their own crews. Personally I don’t care for the overuse of Shanks as a lovesick dog but that’s a general fandom issue and not even that big of a deal.
So you refuse to accept that others might have a gentler interpretation of Buggy’s character by denying canon itself. Yet you claim this is not a bad faith reading at all, yeah, sure.
This isn’t Buggy is a tsundere argument, I never even used that word. The treasure map specifically is used as a joke and coverup in canon. We literally see Buggy using that as an excuse during Loguetown separation, when his true feelings were actually hidden, did you miss that? The treasure map is the petty thing you did that your old friend keeps bringing up. Buggy’s anger at Shanks is because of their separation at Loguetown. His inner thoughts and spoken words were different, because his inner thoughts were his real feelings. That’s what the men of One Piece are like, they don’t genuinely say their emotions because they have too much pride as men and pirates. By having Buggy use the treasure map excuse in Loguetown, it makes us understand the feelings he had everytime he said that before.
In Impel Down, there was an instance where Luffy was also very happy to see Buggy alive. Buggy is clearly treated as an annoyance like Mr 3. You don’t have to be a saint, more like understand that in the world of pirates fights happen all the time, and you learn to choose which squabbles are worth your time. Buggy is like a rock in his shoe, he’s annoying but he’s not someone like Blackbeard or Akainu. Luffy doesn’t like Buggy but he recognizes Buggy’s just a loser with some petty grudge against Shanks. If Buggy was seriously harmful towards Shanks he wouldn’t act so nonchalant with him. You think Buggy is going to be the villain that’s hardest to forgive? Buggy obviously is being shown in a more positive light when he made the speech about the One Piece and roped in Crocodile and Mihawk, when he sent money to a man’s dying family. The Roger Pirates still think well of Buggy.
We can’t really say why Rayleigh left, he’s also a mystery when it comes to his motivations and thoughts. Buggy leaving was the right decision anyways, you can’t be the subordinate to someone else if you have conflict with them and don’t agree with their goals. Look at what happened with Usopp and Luffy, that kind of conflict tears the crew apart and places a burden on the Captain. Buggy leaving was the best decision for both of them. Otherwise Shanks would’ve been like Luffy and prioritized his friend over his role as Captain. Buggy would’ve been a bad friend and bad crewmate had he joined Shanks and disrespected him as Captain and duelled him, but he never joined, they stayed apart as two fellow Captains on different paths.
The business of pirates is a lot like the mafia or criminal gangs, you have to hold your own and protect your reputation. I know some fans were shocked that Shanks’ crew blew up Bartolomeo’s crew even when he displayed such loyalty to Luffy. That’s just how the business of pirates is.
I think it’s important to consider Shuggy in the context of the One Piece story, that’s where the authorial intent is. Especially for Shanks who still has many mysterious motivations and subtle readings to his character. Buggy acts like a regular pirate, and his attitude towards Shanks has constantly been regarded as petty beef between close friends. Amongst the many over-exaggerated character dynamics in One Piece, it’s not meant to be harmful, even outside of the author’s intent it just seems like a typical close relationship between two guys, and they’re extremely chummy for two enemy pirate Captains. Even Kinemon and his wife’s story was more ‘toxic’, he constantly stole money from her and he gambled it away and she paid off his debts while he was ungrateful. So many relationships use bickering and nagging as a way to signify closeness. Compared to canon couples the level of ‘harmful’ Buggy was towards Shanks wasn’t even that bad. You just seem extremely biased towards Buggy as if he’s a real person without understanding the common tropes utilized in the story and that he’s meant to be shown as someone important to and liked by Shanks. You say Shanks’ feelings are important, but Buggy’s feelings are also important since his dreams and desires have been given such spotlight as one of the Four Emperors. There is more to Buggy and he’s not just a harmful presence, his feelings have been given meaning and validation in the story.
I can understand if you just dislike Buggy on his own, nobody has to like a character, but tagging your hate about how harmful Buggy is while acting like you’re in a parasocial relationship with Shanks and policing others on the ship, you’re being completely irrational.
I’m trying to explain why the dynamic exists. To us, we already know Shanks’ life is cool and admirable, but for Buggy that’s not what he wanted, while Shanks did want Buggy with him. If Buggy is so worthless in your eyes, then leaving was him doing what’s best for Shanks, despite Shanks’ wishes. Shanks loves his friends and loved ones more than anything, nothing can compare to that, you should know that as a fan. It’s not Buggy specifically, it’s any one of Shanks’ friends. If Yasopp suddenly left the crew to go back home, it would also be like Shanks lost someone precious, Yasopp is precious to him. That’s just Shanks’ character, his friends are his most precious treasure.
I knew you’d bring up Usopp since you’re not understanding the story. Usopp joined the crew and accepted Luffy as his Captain, then he belittled Luffy’s authority and challenged him to a duel to win the Going Merry as its Captain. When he tried to beat up Luffy and lost he even got pitied by being given the ship. Luffy not chasing after him wasn’t a matter of personal feelings, it was his responsibility as Captain and for their pride as pirates, and even then afterwards Luffy eagerly wanted to get Usopp back without apologies needed, but Zoro was the one who stopped him and couldn’t ignore the duel with the Captain and demanded he apologize. It’s a completely different situation from Buggy who turned down Shanks before he could accept him as his Captain. If even Luffy wanted to go after Usopp after the major disrespect and conflict he caused, of course Shanks would wish he could go after Buggy. I don’t think Buggy is particularly precious, but he is an important enough friend to Shanks for him to be that way.
Maybe Shanks will be revealed to be whatever you think he is, but we can’t be completely sure that’s what’s going on with him. He sure does seem like a good sacrificing hero. It’s more about how you thinks Shanks gets utterly wronged by the slightest offense because he’s some holy suffering figure, and that restricts your ability to see him as a fully fledged person. I think in ships and stories people prefer to think of Shanks as a human who is flawed and can be made fun of like other characters and not make everything about how great and noble of a sacrifice Shanks is. So fandom tends to blow up flaws because we see so little of him, like him being a careless drunk or giant baby, but that’s a general fandom issue. We know Shanks is cool, strong, goodlooking, most fans know that Buggy can’t match up to him, but to his close friends he can just be a normal guy without the pressure. Everyone probably worships or acts careful around an Emperor, so it’s more precious when someone treats him like a casual friend. In a relationship there has to be a reason why Shanks likes Buggy, he must love Buggy because he treats him like he did when they were kids. That’s a very possible interpretation that has nothing to do with toxicity.
Oh yeah, that dastardly kid. How dare he eat a fake devil fruit and keep a treasure map he found from an enemy pirate? The crew freely gave that fruit away for anyone to eat, and yeah, he’s a pirate who stole a map from an enemy. Maybe it’s just me, but in this story where the characters literally commit many crimes, a kid stealing on a pirate ship is not that bad. This is the same crew that was going to disband a year later anyways and leave Shanks and Buggy to fend for themselves.
There’s a difference between admitting a character is bad and what you’re doing. You talk about Buggy as if everything about him is an atrocity towards Shanks, and that everybody else has to feel the same. At most, it’s likely that Buggy is just meant to be greedy and dumb but harmless. Zosan or Shuggy, they are pretty similar in that they’ve both got a dynamic as naturally opposing forces, they both misunderstand each other and don’t fit over their differences. It’s not that Shuggy can’t be toxic or angsty, it’s literally filled with tons of angst content and messy exes content, but it’s not all because Buggy is the worst friend and undeserving which is how you make it out to be. It’s as if someone demanded reformation from Zosan fans for having Zoro loving on Sanji when it should be Sanji redeeming himself in Zoro’s eyes for his sexual harassment and for leaving the crew and Sanji should be asking for forgiveness from Zoro for beating up the Captain he gave everything for.
Shanks swooning over his lover is literally in every Shanks ship and Shanks x reader and Shanks x oc. Shanks being written as a sad and mentally unwell man is not that common anywhere. You literally just said that you think Shanks would be a simp in any ship, so every Shanks shipper is guilty of this. A lot of Shuggy content is when they’re younger too when Shanks didn’t have those problems, so you’re just saying things that other Shanks ships are more guilty of as they’re ‘pretending a troubled Shanks has a clear mind and being all lovey dovey’. I actually think then there’s too much Shanks and Luffy content that erases Shanks’ troubles over Uta and not enough Shanks and Uta content. Shanks might be depressed, but he’s still gonna try to have a positive mindset and maintain his old personality. If anything, Shuggy shippers are the only shippers who act like Shanks is flawed and unwell and copes badly, thus the jokes of he doesn’t wash and drinks too much. He isn’t alright because he misses Uta and Buggy. So shouldn’t you like Shuggy shippers because of this? Outside of Shuggy, people say Shanks is a whore who sleeps around and he has too many kids he abandons and neglects. But Shuggy shippers saying Shanks misses and longs for Buggy fits right into your characterization of him as a sad man who holds in his feelings.
I do agree Shanks has inner struggles going on. I think the ship doesn’t worsen or cheapen his struggles any more than others. Plenty of characters made sacrifices, they are both pirates and grown men, I very much doubt we’re supposed to clutch our pearls over people not treating him delicately. You’re too focused on characters not having the proper attitude when that’s just a typical friendship in One Piece. We don’t even have the whole picture of Shanks’ character and his plans. I’m not even saying I understand Shanks completely, but that’s why there’s gonna be different interpretations. He can have issues and still show love and happiness like many people do, he doesn’t have to be sulking and brooding all the time. Even in the middle of Marineford when Ace was dead a few meters away, Shanks was smiling at Buggy and happy to see him. So doesn’t that mean Shanks’ mood got lifted just because of Buggy? But all you keep saying is Buggy harmful, Shanks the victim in their toxic relationship. Plenty of fans have biases and they freely admit that and just have fun with it. You can’t even admit you have a bias, it hinders your ability to read correctly. The author certainly doesn’t care if fans are loving Buggy too much and not focusing enough on the problems he brings to a relationship.
There are are countless metaphors, you could’ve used the one about cattle. We’re talking about petty hate, comparing that to speaking out against colonizers isn’t even anywhere near the same topic nor the same level and I prefer not to stoop to that.
Dude. This isn't about canon one piece. Obviously in canon one piece they don't have a toxic relationship. They aren't even near eachother. This was never about canon one piece. Never. You keep bringing up canon one piece and their relationship there to "disprove" me when it was never about that. It was about Shuggy. Nor did i say Shanks isnt a grown man. He is. Though you are downplaying his sacrifice as "well something pirates just do" like every pirate out there would give an arm to save a kid. Plus, Shanks wasnt even the one to take the initiative to shoot down Bart, it was Yassop. Shanks was ready to just let it slide for Luffy, but Yasopp took initiative to remind Shanks that there needs to be consequences. Also about you "Knowing i would bring up Usopp" yeah obviously. That moment is the closest gotten to what Shanks and Buggy have gone through, theres no 1 to 1. I don't know why you're using that as a "gotcha". I kept using your points and using one piece moments to argue against it but now that I have you're just bringing up their canon relationships when it hardly matter because they don't itneract. Anyone would react the way Shanks did when he saw Buggy, if i saw a childhood bully I'd react the same, its just someone familiar and like you said they were children so the bickering didn't matter it was just bickering. Of course Shanks isnt some helpless guy in canon, no shit. I wasn't talking about canon, I was talking about the popular and normalized Shuggy relationship. Like 85% of this is trying to defend Buggy and Shanks's relationship in canon saying it isn't toxic 10% of it actual argument and the other 5% is bringing up that damn metaphor again. Your argument with Zosan isn't even applicable because my while point in bringing up Zosan previously is that they're not toxic, just have some elements of argument. Yet they are more aware of that than Shuggy shippers and the toxification of their ship. Genuinely I want you to take away the percentages of this where you bring up things that don't matter because so many of your arguments is bringing up their canon relationship when they hardly even have one and I was going off of how they interact and how the Shuggy media uses it to paint Shanks as an infant that can't defend himself. Its not me saying that, i'm going off of them. As for my "parasocial relationship" what a way to put it just because I don't like Shanks being used as an accessory.
So honestly if you want a proper reply to this "argument" you need to write something bringing up SHUGGY. Because right now I was using the Shuggy basis and bringing up canon to show both of their psyches and how it would work in a relationship like that, using the Shuggy dynamic as a mold. What you're doing is bringing up the canon relationship and then trying to use that to "debunk" me saying that they have a toxic relationship in canon when the only time i said that was that Buggy was a bad friend and at worst abusive. You said you were a "Shanks fan" but this is really reading as you're just a Shuggy fan that likes Shanks and how he is a cute little puppy simp in Shuggy despite the only way he would be like that when Buggy would treat him how its popularized is if there was a toxic dynamic, again, me using Shuggy as the mold, not the canon current relationship. There hardly is one. Im not even gonna tag this one Shuggy because there is nothing Shuggy about your reply to me, you were just bringing up the canon as a mold and "gotcha"ing me because Luffy doesn't have a 1 to 1 Buggy reference and that my metaphor was too crazy for you.
Hii i wanted to ask why some headcanons on your masterlist aren't available
like some of the links don't work? i checked them just now and one of them were broken so i fixed it but the rest work. not sure why links expire so i have to change them out every so often but i just fixed one
Luffy x GN!Reader. TW Mentions of abusive relationship. Some cursing. 3045ish words.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
While the two of you are walking you choose to stay silent. You’d like to talk, of course, but you’re scared. It’s stupid, you told Luffy and yourself that you wouldn’t be like this; but the thought of Luffy finding out you had such a relationship feels so shameful. Not to mention, what if he doesn’t believe you? Mante has done so much more good than you, of course anyone would doubt it; sometimes, even you doubt it. Mante, the handsome, kind, talented philanthropist. The man who had climbed from the bottom, the one that gives hope to others that were in his position. Maybe... it’s just better if Luffy doesn’t know. What if he finds you weak for allowing yourself to be manipulated and abused for so long? The other option is he does believe you, but if that happens he isn’t going to brush it off. Even if you don’t like it, Mante is good for people. You were just the exception, and not all the time. Your mind goes to the people in his charity, the kids that light up at the sight of food. You… you just aren’t as important as the majority. Even if you want to think otherwise, you can’t. All options lead to ruin if Luffy finds out. ‘We haven’t been on a date like this in a while, just focus on that.’ You tell yourself, too distracted to notice Luffy staring at you.
“(Y/n).” He says and you jolt slightly.
“Y-Yeah?” You’re clearly anxious, dread filling you. Luffy frowns, he can tell you aren’t okay.
“Nevermind.” He wants to force you to tell him, or make assumptions to help you; but he knows that won’t help. Not in the way that you need. You two eventually make it to a hill with some trees, a good view of the festival below. He sits down with you next to him, fighting his instinct to grab you immediately and tell you you’re stupid for hiding things from him. You’re his crewmate, his nakama, his love. You taught him that romantic love doesn’t always have to be passionate, something you have to change yourself for, or complicated. He just wishes that you were as understanding and bold for yourself as much as you are for others. His hand squeezes yours lightly and you stare at it, then at him. Luffy’s face is calm, but his eyes are slightly nervous.
“Luffy…” You hate that you’re making him make that face. You’re caught between a rock and a hard place. Do you fight for yourself and escape this prison of self doubt and forced silence; or do you let yourself be whittled away for the greater good. You aren’t even with him anymore, you escaped him, but it feels like you haven’t. You can talk and make connections, but it just feels like your cage is bigger. That the spaces are wider, you’re still trapped but if you narrow your sight to the space outside your cage, you can pretend that you’re free. While you’re lost in your thoughts you feel yourself pulled closer to your boyfriend. He doesn’t say anything, just holding you there, holding your hand through the bars of your cell. Tears prick at your eyes, but they don’t fall yet. Instead you reach for comfort, turning to hug Luffy’s side with your face on his shoulder. Being this sad when you’re away from your ex to where it’s affecting your current relationship, you feel like a bad person.
“I think you’re great.” Luffy says softly and you look up at him, shocked for a moment how he somehow read your mind. He laughs slightly at your reaction, “Shi shi shi, did I get it right? I knew you were thinking bad stuff about yourself.” his bright smile turns to a warm one. “It feels like a thought you’d have when you’re like this.” He presses his forehead to yours. “And it feels like a thought maybe I’d have if I was like this.” His mind goes to Ace and how he had let the death of his brother almost ruin his life, almost erase the memories of friendships he had made. Support in that time saved him, so he’ll be your support now.
“Luffy, I’m sorry.” You respond, guilt welling up inside you realizing you’re making him remember his own trauma. “I don’t want to keep things from you, I don’t; but it feels so… complicated. I wish it wasn’t.”
“It doesn’t have to be.” The captain says, but you know better, this is different from what Luffy has gone through or how he had saved your other crewmates. You know this isn’t as simple as beating someone up. You put your head in your hands, you’re stressed. So stressed, it feels like your cage is only getting smaller and the void around you is only getting darker. It’s only when you hear Luffy getting up when you panic, did he get tired of this?
“(Y/n)?” It’s like cold water was splashed on you, you turn around and see him, Mante. “Gods, it’s really you.” His face is blurry, your brain instinctively trying to block it out to protect you. Luffy steps in between you two, his face serious. Mante’s intimidated, but his focus is on you so much he manages to stand his ground. “I haven’t seen you in so long, I thought you might’ve died for a while but I saw your wanted poster and-”
“Hey.” Luffy’s voice booms. “What do you want from them.” Mante flinches, you’re all outside but the tension is high as if in a stuffy room. He has a nervous smile on, trying to save face.
“I’m not here to do anything bad. I just wanted to see them, maybe talk for a bit. My performance ended a while ago and I had noticed you and your friend-”
“Boyfriend.” You manage to correct him and his expression falters.
“...Boyfriend.” He repeats. “I.. I noticed you and your boyfriend going somewhere earlier, but I couldn’t follow you since I was busy.” You scowl, the audacity for him to try and come to you; and for what?
“I left you, Mante. I don’t care how I did it but I left you.” His eyes darken for a moment, Luffy catches it and gets into a fighting pose.
“I’m not even doing anything to you and you’re being rude to me. Did you even actually 'leave' me? You just ditched me, I know I had faults but to leave without even saying anything is cruel.” Memories of your escape come to mind from Mante’s words, and how risky it was.
“Cruel?” You scoff and stand up. “I’m the cruel one? What were you gonna do if I said something? You were unstable, you could barely handle me saying anything ‘bad’ about you.” You clench your fists. “You fucking asshole, acting as if it was that easy. As if I could just go to you and say ‘Hey I want to break up’ when you know damn well you would’ve done anything to stop me. Even if you had to kill me to do it.” You’re shaking, terrified. It’s to be expected, he had broken you down over and over to make you like this. Weak, pliable, “kind”, scared. Luffy can see your trembling and he’s doing everything in his power to stop himself from punching Mante to hell, telling himself that you deserve to do this yourself. If he were any younger he would’ve already snapped and tried to solve this with what he thinks would help, but he’s matured now; even if he’s radiating murderous intent. Mante can’t even take a step towards you. Your hand goes to Luffy’s, holding it. He calms down slightly.
“You.. You’re exaggerating, I wasn’t that bad. You’re remembering things wrong since we were both in rough times.” He’s defensive, already using those same words you would hear back then. “You have to understand my point of view, (Y/n). I never wanted to hurt you, I would just lose control sometime but still never hit too hard-” Luffy snaps and tries to run to Mante but you wrap your arms around his waist.
“Let go! He hurt you!” Your boyfriend says, adamant. Even with his maturing he can only tolerate so much.
“Luffy please, just.. stay with me.” Your voice is breathy, stopping yourself from having a panic attack. The sight helps him calm down slightly and he hugs you.
“We don’t have to be here, I’ll tell the rest of the crew we can leave.” His anger is only pacified by your comfort being more important.
“W-Wait, I’m sorry.” Mante suddenly apologizes. “I didn’t think you were this affected, but I should’ve been better to you anyway. I.. I’m sorry for that, and I’m sorry for treating you badly in the past.” The apology you wanted for so long… you’ve gotten it. So why is it so much less satisfying than you thought? The cause of your pain is here, looking genuinely guilty, you should be happy. This should be it for you, fix you, free you; but it isn’t.
“...Did you even love me?” You ask your ex, continuing to talk before he can respond. “You hurt me, so much. You’re right, you were going through a rough time, I thought about that every time I would have to stand there and take your anger or calm myself down alone when I had the chance. ‘He’s stressed, that’s all.’ ‘He loves me, just has trouble sometimes showing it.’ I made excuses for you over and over. After I escaped I didn’t know what to think, I didn’t have anything. Sometimes I even considered going back to you because I would struggle so much being alone. Maybe I even would’ve, if I didn’t have the privilege of being found.” You look at Luffy, who feels a mixture of anger and happiness. “I can tell what you’re thinking, you think I could’ve done it on my own even if you and the others didn’t find me, right?” He stares at you, then nods. “I knew it, feels like a thought you would have.” Your words calm him more and brightens a little, smiling at you. Mante stands there, face dark. “Are you expecting me to expose you? Let everyone know how horrible you can be inside?”
“I wouldn’t be surprised if you decided to, but I.. I really hope you don’t. I’m helping people, and you’ve already seemed to have moved on.” He has a point, except you haven’t been fully able to move on yet. You hug your boyfriend for a bit, then pull back to walk to Mante.
“I’m not going to tell anyone.” You say and both his and Luffy’s eyes go wide.
"You aren’t-”
“You aren’t!?” A crowd of voices say. You’re startled, and look to the side to see your friends minus Robin and Franky. They were hiding, and attempted to hide again. It’s pointless and Usopp quickly tries to save it.
“Well we were just passing by and we just got here don’t worry-” Usopp starts but Zoro interrupts him.
“I’ll slice him to pieces if you want me to.” Usopp stares at Zoro in betrayal. “Only if you want me to.” He reiterates.
“You’re seriously not going to say anything? Are you still scared?” Nami says, worried as she casually pushes the two men to the side. “You don’t have to be scared, you know.” She knows how it feels to be stuck, too scared to ask for help that you’d even cover for your abuser. Nami doesn’t want you to feel like that. The sight of your friends, here and worried, unlocks something in you, helps you realize something. You can get out of your cell, that you didn’t have to hide this for so long. Here you were, assuming that they wouldn’t be able to take it, that it would bring up bad memories or make things uncomfortable but even Nami isn’t forcing you to do anything. Your chest feels lighter, and you turn back to Mante.
“I’m not doing this out of the kindness of my heart.” You say as you shake your head, walking to Mante. “I’m doing it because I can, because I decided that I’m tired of letting him control me.”
“(Y/n)..” Mante says, looking guilty but touched. “I don’t deser-”
“Yeah, you don’t, and I’m not doing this for you. Don’t get me wrong.” Your hand reaches up and grips Mante’s neck. “I am not a pushover that’ll forgive anything. You do good to the world and you seem to have been trying to repent, that’s the only reason I’m letting you free.” Your hand tightens its grip and Mante tries to gasp, struggling. “Your retribution will be using the rest of your life to help others. If I ever hear even a rumor that you’ve done something like this again, embezzled money, taken advantage of someone, stopped your charities, anything. I’m coming back, and I’m giving you your punishment with my own hands.” With that, you let him go. Mante coughs and gasps to gain his breath, your friends more satisfied now. He looks pathetic like this, coughing, like your places have switched. You’re different from him though, anger is only a sign he still has a hold over you. You’re done letting his emotions control yours. “I want you gone. Leave.” He looks up at you, emotions conflicting in his mind. Guilt, appreciation, fear, but you want none of it. He stands up and you take a deep breath. “Wait” You say before he can leave. He turns to face you and you punch him in the stomach, hard. He coughs and gasps, you do it again with your other hand. Okay, some anger is natural emotion, and you won’t let him go free without some pain, he just objectively deserves it. Plus, if he gets a bruise his dancer outfit will show he can just cover it up, you did it plenty of times. “Okay, now leave.” He struggles to walk and you watch him as he limps away. Once his figure has faded you breathe a sigh of relief, another big weight lifted off your chest. You crouch down with your head hanging, you did it, that was insane you actually did it.
“Shi shi shi.” You hear a familiar laugh from next to you. Luffy’s crouched down next to you too, looking happy. “You didn’t need me at all, see?” He says, pleased. You wrap your arm around him and pull him in for a hug, which he gladly reciprocates while kissing your cheek. The joy emanating from him is contagious and you end up smiling too, pulling back to smooch him. He smooches back and soon the two of you keep peppering kisses on eachother’s faces, giggling a little.
“Yohohoho~ Youth is very good to see.” Brook says with a hand on his mouth as you two act lovey dovey.
“Hahaha!” Jinbe laughs heartily. “That it is!” You look at your crewmates, all of them looking happy, even if Zoro is pretending he finds it annoying. He’d rather have this than you miserable. Sanji is happy for you two as well, of course, even if he wishes he also had what you have, no he’s not crying from jealousy he’s just having a nosebleed from his eyes. Usopp gently pats him on the back, offering comfort awkwardly. You look back towards the festival, you’re happy. Even if this isn’t magically going to completely pull you from the cell you’ve been trapped in, Luffy and the others have opened the door, letting you know that even if it’ll take time for you to fully come out, they’ll always be there. You even spot an eyeball and an ear surrounded with petals on a tree, smiling at it as the firework show starts. Everyone sits with you, watching it as they start to talk and enjoy the pretty lights. They couldn’t leave you behind after all, and walking around in a crowded area is overrated anyway. Chopper jumps up and down happily, making happy noises as his eyes shine. Your eyes trail to Luffy’s, whose hand is intertwined with yours.
“Thank you.” You whisper while looking down to not only him, but all your friends too. You’d assume they didn’t hear you, but when you look up at Luffy he’s smiling at you.
“You’re welcome!” He says, and you look to the side to see your crewmates looking at you too. Apparently you had whispered it in the small moment it was silent before the fireworks continued.
“You’re welcome too.” Nami smiles at you and winks.
“Me too, me too!” Chopper exclaims while hopping onto your lap. Everyone else says the same, even Zoro who was quietly arguing with Sanji, and Usopp who had pretended not to hear at first to save you from the embarrassment. Is this bad luck or good luck? You’re so happy to hear these “You’re welcome”, but you also feel like collapsing and playing dead possum style from getting caught saying something sappy. The fireworks have already started up again though, so you decide to slowly turn your attention to that, praying that your friends and boyfriend take the hint. Thankfully they do, and you all spend the rest of the festival in each other's presence.
Bonus:
“WAHHHH YOU’RE WELCOME TOO (Y/N)!!!” Franky says while sobbing, pouring tears from his eyes as Robin lightly chuckles, having finished telling Franky what had happened.
“You can tell them when they’re back.” She says to the shipwright, who’s on his hands and knees crying so hard he would definitely pass out if he weren’t a cyborg.
“Y-You’re right.” He says, getting motivated. “I’ve got to make sure they have a SUPER place to come back to.” Franky says as he gets up, quickly running inside the ship to build you something you’d like. Robin puts her hand to her eye again, looking at your embarrassed but happy face, her mood improving more when she sees your hand squeeze Luffy’s. She’ll get something ready for you too, you’re her precious friend as well, after all.
Phew finally finished, sorry I took so long I suddenly lost the motivation for it and I got into replaying P5r then I started Hollow Knight. But I got it. Sorry if the ending and how it ended up is unsatisfying. There are a lot of stories where everything ends up okay and I kinda felt like not doing that. Ofc things CAN end up being okay but I felt like there wasn't enough stories where the abuser wasn't just very clearly evil and no good. As someone who's been through bad things from people who have multiple sides I felt like this was the best thing to do. If you want Mante in jail you can say that he ended up doing something bad and you did whatever punishment you want, I left it somewhat open for that, but this is where it ends for the story I wrote. People are many, even bad ones, and life is complicated. If you have someone in your life that you are unable to fully cut off or bring to full punishment i feel for you. This ending wasn't a "Well you should just forgive and forget" it was more of a "Even if things are complicated there is still ways to break free from your abuser"
Content: just me ranting about politics and how people have been brainwashed to fight against eachother instead of for.
On tiktok watching storytimes of this black woman and her heartbreaking stiry of having to fight against the economy and abuse to get better in life. See a video about her and talking to joe biden and was like "dude no way, she has to be for" nope. She's talking about how immigrants get free handouts just for being here while she busted her ass off and like.. i know its hard but holy shit dude. Its like, you went through all that and went "Yeah, yeah, i want THEM to feel that pain." ??? Also she was saying how she worked hard to buy a food truck and now hes buying it with handouts despite not having anything and like... lady.. why do yoy think hes buying your food truck. To just have it? He's going to work. Also saying that he just gets free handouts is so fucked because he came to this country unfortunate enough to qualify for those "handouts" and is clearky trying to work hard and shes just bashing him and saying how she cant get loans despite her good credit because of the color of her skin and it just sucks so much because mexicans and black people have been through so much similar shit and have been fighting together for a long time and theyve somehow managed to convince us to fight against eachother instead of with. It sucks sm. Like i get you feel wronged but like imagine your ancestor is pissed at YOU because you get the opportunity to work for money while they were slaves having to work for nothing. Work together!!! This whole race thing is so shit! Seeing black people harass mexicans telling them to get out of their country when this was their and the natives' land at first, saying its their fault POC get a bad rep. Mexicans blaming blacks and other race immigrant for being lazy/criminals and its their fault POC get a bad rep and its like how is this happening bro. Blacks don't get opportunities thats why they turn to crime and get "aggressive". Mexicans work hard because they've been forced to work unreasonably hard ever since they came into existence. Propaganda is so scary. They really tore us apart. This isn't even mentioning all the natives being ignored either since they're considered too "in the past" to care about or asians whos kinda been pushed to the side just because they maybe don't get as much open hate. Like i hate this shi bruh 😭.

Last Song: Disappearance Addiction by Kairiki bear (My fav vocaloid artist) The one on youtube specifically with the animation theres many versions of the song
Last Book: The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. Id already read it but felt like rereading it since its in my campus library. Dropped it though. Not because its bad, its great, the humor aged pretty well too, just didnt want ti have to borrow it and possibly have it go overdue and the library is cold after a while. Maybe ill get back to it.
Last Movie: Sonic 3. Watched with some friends and family. Was pretty funny. But so cringe. I cant blame sonic for being cringe in the movie because it fit his character being cringe but that "Konichi-what" took actual life from my body. Also we were really late so we missed like 20 min of it and that was basically the part i first saw with no context.
Last Game: Cult of the Lamb. Its fun. Just so fucking glitchy. Its crashed multiple times and glitched so bad id had to quit it multiple times. Its such a shame considering how fun it is too.
Last TV Show: One piece, if not counting anime then Arcane. Though im on like episode.. 3.
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Sweet. I love sweets. Sm. I love them. I feel like between a bad sweet and a bad savory or spicy its always the bad sweet thats usually gonna be better.
Relationship: Single. Im not really interested in relationships. I dont have crushes either. Ive never really been super in relationships especially seeing how miserable people will be just because they aren't in one. Not that i can't go in one, I just don't crave it.
Favorite Color: Yellow and Brown. Yes i know shit and piss but i do like the colors. Bananas, bees, sunflowers, its a good color combination. Brown is a very warm calm color and yellow a very bright happy color. Im not too picky about colors though.
Last Internet Search: Big five personality test. I heard from a psychology person online that Myer Briggs one actually is not good and that Big five one is better so i was doing it but got bored.

love when people binge my series and like each chapter because i can see as they read. Like "oh you finished chapter 3 already, fast reader". Most of the time when ive gotten on the app they've already finished but when i do catch it it's a little funny.
Heard something about how girls talk about how men, instead of asking them to move out of the way, will just move them out of the way like an object. Which i tend to do, actually. I feel a bit bad about it now but on the bright side its with everyone. I don't know why but i find it easier to just move someone or just pat their shoulder or back multiple times to get them to move. Or even just try to squeeze through. Anything besides just saying "excuse me". Not sure why i do it, maybe because I'm too used to having to squeeze through places since my brothers are all huge so if i always had to say "excuse me" or "move" or "can you move" id just always have been saying it. That got me thinking so i might make a scenarios fic about that
I found it! Turns out it was dogs tho so im a lil stupid too.
Idea popped into my mind, though i've had it in my mind for a while now. Inspired by this one video i saw a while back (can't find it now) of some person who did the same thing to their cats. If i find it later ill quote this with it. Also comment if you want someone else with this. @mere-mortifer this is just a scenario thing but idk if it counts tell me if it doesnt and you just meant one shots.
Various x GN!reader. Platonic. Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Robin, Brook.
“Did you have to spill it? Haven’t you gotten instincts for that?” You say, peeved as you clean up Luffy’s spilled juice.
“I don’t have that on all the time.” He says with a huff, begrudgingly grabbing more paper towels for you until he realizes something. “There’s no more.” It’s run out.
“No more?” You look back at him and see the empty paper towel roll, sighing. “Give it here.” He hands it to you and you bonk it on his head softly with a “thunk”.
“Hey!” He rubs the spot you did it, putting on his straw hat for protection.
“Small punishment, we’ll have to do it with a cloth so go get that for me; even if it’ll be a hassle to have to rinse it out.” Luffy pouts, but gets it anyway since he’ll be scolded if he doesn’t.
You’re cleaning up Zoro’s workout equipment, he could do it himself but you’re doing it this time since he’s eating a sandwich Sanji made for protein. “You don’t clean these as often as you should.” You tell him while cleaning up the pole for weights.
“I’m the one who uses it the most anyway, if you think it’s gross just don’t use them.” The swordsman says in between bites. You notice you’ve managed to clean them with the last paper towel, pleased but still annoyed at what Zoro said. You walk over to him where he’s sitting and bonk his head with the empty roll. It makes a “thunk” sound. “Empty head.” He scowls.
“I didn’t ask you to do this.” You thunk him again. “Hey!” Thunk "Ugh."
“It’s not that much of a hassle to clean it, think of it as practicing your patience or responsibility. There’s other types of responsibilities that aren’t protection or fighting.”
“Whatever.” He mumbles and you thunk him on the head for the 4th time. “Stop!”
“You should really take more breaks.” You say while rinsing out a cloth you were using to clean.
“I’m used to working this much from the Baratie, you have nothing to worry about.” He sits at the counter after you barely convinced him to atleast sit down for a bit.
“You only get 5 hours of sleep each night, that isn’t healthy for you even if you’re used to it.” He’s about to say something when you interrupt him. “Zoro sleeps less during the night but he naps during the day as well, Brook is a skeleton, and Luffy sleeps whenever he wants during the day as well if he’s tired. You do not.” The cook closes his mouth having been corrected. You grab a paper towel to dry off the counter and realize it’s the last one. You walk over to Sanji, who’s looking down at the ground, and bonk him on the head using the empty roll with a “thunk” sound. “I don’t mind you asking me for help if you need it, so use that assistance to rest a bit. I mean it.”
“...Okay..” He mumbles, his gaze still to the ground as he fumbles with his hands like a scolded little kid.
“I’m usually more careful than this.” Robin says while she makes sure none of the books have gotten wet. “I suppose I was too focused on the text.”
“If it means it was interesting enough then I’m sure the author would be flattered.” You say while cleaning up a drink she had knocked over while reading. Once she’s made sure nothing got wet she puts the books down on her lap. “There’s no point feeling bad about it now.” You manage to clean everything up by the time the paper towels have run out.
“I apologize for making you do this, you seemed focused as wel-” You lightly bonk her on the head with the empty roll, making a “thunk” sound. Her eyes widen as she looks up at you, shocked.
“Lighten up, you’re acting like you’ve forced me. Of course I would do this for you, you’re my friend.” Her eyes are still wide but she eventually smiles.
“Then I’ll thank you instead. Thank you.” You smile back at her when she thanks you.
“You’re welcome.” You bonked the bad thoughts out of her.
“If I could see your pantie-” Brook gets hit on the head HARD by Nami before she storms off, walking past you as you notice Brook now sitting on the ground rubbing his forehead.
“Hit again? You really don’t learn your lesson, huh?” You say while standing in front of him. “It was hard this time too, I heard it from where I was.”
“She knocked my brains out! Not that I had any to begin with yohoho!” He jokes, though he never really expects Nami to show her panties. It’s more of a habit at this point, something he gained from the past he’s reluctant to let go of.
“More like scrambled since you can still joke.” You’re holding an empty paper towel roll, on the way to throw it out before you heard the commotion. You get an idea and thunk him on the head with it, “To unscramble,” then do it again. “now to bonk those thoughts out.” He looks up at you, presumably processing what happened since you can’t really see an expression. He rubs his head for a second.
“You’ve warmed my heart (Y/n)-san, not that I have one!” His laugh is slightly less loud. “You’re a miracle worker…” He’s silent for a bit, then goes back to normal. “We should see panties to celebra-” Thunk.
