fuck shit UP
like man, I'm still not.... over it??
the arc is so important to middle easterners.
it's the reason the anime got a dub into arab. it's the reason why there are so many fans over there. why the turkish manga translation is so carefully handled.
this arc one of the very, very, VERY few times that they/we are shown in a really good light. as a strong princess. as a fair king. as kind and passionate people.
it is all for nothing if this ends up being the casting. if they end up removing most of the architecture and clothes and cast a doll-faced british-indian actress with pretty girl charisma as our fierce desert princess.
even more so bc it's oda making light of the intentions with which he originally wrote the arc while similar situations of western colonialism/influence are devastating the lives of millions of middle easterners right now.
what a cowardly path to pick. what a half-hearted statement to make.
what an utter shame.
Can't draw and don't like writing but still wanna do something fun/creative to engage in One Piece fandom so I'm making Spotify playlists based off of what I think they'd like/listen to. I don't know every song ever so I'd love to hear what others think! I listen to lots of music so the playlists will get longer over time. Starting with Eustass Kid because I love him soooo much and one of his hobbies is listening to music!!

These are a few of my favourite pre ts sanji moments
(1) Baratie arc when sanji served fresh food for don krieg despite everyone telling him that krieg was notorious for betraying people. Sanji still served the food because of his value of "feeding the hungry no matter what"
(2) Sweet sanji preparing bentos for Luffy vivi and a special drink for Vivi's duck karoo so they can go explore the little garden island. Also packing and tying the lunches for the kids (luffy and karoo) by himself
(3) water 7 Sanji following his principle of "never waste food" while fighting CP7's ramen guy wanze (who had a full ramen armour and sanji cut his armour up and served the ramens all in different plates around the kitchen)
(4) thriller bark Sanji holding an unconscious nami up so she won't get injured while he takes all the hits from Absalom He's not just a simp, he genuinely cares for nami
(5) water 7 Sanji smoking a cigarette while spying and finding out sensitive government information
(6) Post enies lobby filler sanji crying throwing up stressing over finding out the right spices of a fried rice. He is a true chef at heart and has so much love for his craft
(7) post skypiea filler G-8 arc sanji when someone says he is better than all of the navy chefs and sanji cutely offers to give his recipes to them. He is so cute kind and humble
(8) sabaody sanji kicking the Celestial dragon knowing what'll happen and not giving a fuck anyway
(9) skypiea sanji being all big smiles and happy while showing conis the bento he has arranged for her and telling them how arranging food is an art (look at the little winged angel he put there as a representation for conis who has wings)
(10) Sanji leaving a message for nami in water 7, even in the dire situation they were in (usopp left, robin was abducted, they were all accused of murder) sanji being his usual cute loser self
Pine after your anime men. Sicken yourself with longing

thinking about zoro and sanji in thriller bark and how insane it is that their shadows knew each other. like. a person's shadow never really retains past memories or any memories regarding other people in their lives. you lose the main characteristics that make you you. sanji doesn't remember his name. he kicks robin- he would've never done that even under the threat of death. zoro knows nothing but his swords and the need to destruct. not his name, not his captain. they think they serve a person who they have never met before that day. they are them but at the same time, they are not. sanji's shadow's kick could break a man's skull but it doesn't know kindness like sanji, the real and human one, does. zoro's shadow can win all the battles it faces but it doesn't feel the same unwavering loyalty towards luffy, his captain, his king. they lose parts of themselves that make them who they are.
but they know each other.
sanji can be a fucking doguin now but he knows the bastard next to him. he knows he wants to kick his face in. zoro might now have scars all over his back and have a goddamn chandelier around his waist but that motherfucker next to him is just begging to be slashed. they've known each other in every lifetime. they will find each other in every universe. they will die in each other's hands. how much must one's existence be etched in your soul for your shadow to know them? to know them when you don't know yourself?
it's like when achilles says, "I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world." or when hozier says, "No grave can hold my body down, I'll crawl home to her."
insane.
