I know my "unpopular opinions" seem so normal here. But I am gonna be honest, some of these takes have been SHITTED on Reddit and Twitter (no I am not from Tiktok but there are some WILD people I have seen there)
I do mean minor/major thing in legal one. I have seen people call a huge amount of ships toxic, you can see it again and again, the same rhetoric.
With the bsd women, they do have lead roles but if you compare it to the guys, it's less. And I understand this is more than mangas have, but I still wish for more you know. Since BSD ladies are so well written.
I also don't care much about the Hunting Dogs lol. With the guild, I really can't remember anything huge with them. They don't stay in my brain a lot.
You may be surprised how many absolutely unhinged people out there will disagree with these very normal opinions.
"I hate Skk" "I hate sskk" is very common in reddit
There are people who constantly say "Dazai and Chuuya are not gay they are straight" if anyone ships them
Ranposano lovers HATE it if anyone says "I see them as siblings"
There are people (small amount) who defend Atsushi/Kyouka (some even ship worse ones)
People also demonize and hate Dazai constantly
Some don't acknowledge PM (or even DoA) are criminals
Since I saw so many of these opinions floating around, I originally wanted to post this on reddit but for my mental health and not seeing people hate on my opinions, I posted it on Tumblr lol
1. Identifying BSD characters as Queer, is not problematic. STOP being so Heteronormative. Gay characters are not gonna kill you.
If I see another "BuT tHe ChArAcTeRs nEvEr SaId tHeY aRe GaY" I would bomb you π£/j
2. Skk/SSKK/Fyolai/other popular ships, exist because people like it. If you don't ship them, don't engage with their content. Not all shippers act crazy and toxic. Stop blaming everything on shippers.
3. Atsushi/Kyouka is problematic, stop justifying it with "only 4 year age gap". Kyouka is a CHILD, ship her with Kenji if you want. Atsushi, like a normal 18 year old would never look at a highschool freshman and date her. Even if they date in the future, he knew her when she was younger and they had a sibling like dynamic. Lucy is a way better love interest to Atsushi (Don't know if this is an unpopular opinion tho, but I saw some people justifying it πππ)
4. DAZAI IS NOT EVIL. HE IS FAR FROM EVIL. He is, despite being super popular and the face of BSD, the most mischaracterized and villified character. Morally grey characters exist??!!!
5. Mori is a way worse person than Dazai ever was.
6. PM members get a free pass for any heinous crime they commit by being hot or babygirl-ified (still love them tho, we do not often discuss how bad their actions have been, you can like criminals and acknowledge they are criminals in fiction. I would add DoA to this too, but it's worse with the PM)
7. Akutagawa's abuse of Kyouka shouldn't be forgotten just because Dazai abused Akutagawa.
8. Mori emotionally manipulated and abused Dazai when he was a teen. Just because it wasn't physical, doesn't mean it was nothing.
9. Atsushi is NOT a soft boy, he is way bitter, salty and sarcastic than we give him credit
10. Poe is important to Ranpo and their friendship/relationship is wholesome as hell
11. Ranpo and Yosano's friendship is way better than them being in a relationship in the future
12. FukuFuku is better than Fukumori (imo!!!!)
13. Buying real authors work after watching BSD is actually a really good thing, since more Gen z kids (or other people) will read classics
14. There are layers to Atsushi and Akutagawa relationship/rivalry, and they have the MOST important relationship (not meaning romantic, just in general) in the entire canon.
15. Kunikida and Yosano could be a power couple
16. Fyodor is not a great villain (yet)
17. Nikolai CARRIES the DoA
18. Sigma shouldn't be in the ADA, he needs a happy home, family and some time to adjust to normal life
19. Q and Elise are both underused characters and could become a great dynamic
20. Ango deserves more love, the amount of pressure and stress he deals with is INSANE
21. It's OKAY if everyone joins the fandom for Dazai or skk (I did at first too!!)
22. Higuchi is annoying as hell. I do not get her hype, I like her but not as much as most people (just personal opinion, do not flame me π)
23. Everyone in The Guild is forgettable or boring (except Fitzgerald, Poe and Lucy. I like Louisa, but I forget her all the time)
24. Hetero ships are just not that great/interesting in BSD to me π€·π»ββοΈ (except maybe AtsuLucy or rare pairs) and female characters are not best utilised, I wish they play more major roles (can't wait for Agatha to arrive!!)
25. Some fan theories/arts get the story better than "canon" stuff at times. Fanon is NOT always the worst (sometimes enjoyable when the canon gets too dark or sad)
26. Toxic ships are okay in fiction as long as they are legal. Humans like toxic things, we consume it like junk food π π»
(These are all personal opinions of mine and do not matter. Feel free to disagree. But, do not hate or be toxic!!!! ππππ)
The setting of TSH confused me at first. I thought it was taking place in the 50s as Richard's language sounded very pretentious. Then there's no mention of any pop culture making it hard to pin point which decade it takes place in. Then slowly we start to see that it's not that old with more mentions of new things. Despite that I wasn't sure when it was happening until I found out that Henry didn't knew that moon landing actully happened so it was probably in the 70's or 80's.
I wish Henry had lived long enough to find out there's 8 planets not 9. He reminds me a bit of Sherlock and how neither of them concerned themselves with whatever was happening in the world and cared about only what they thought was important.
Why do you think Fyodor chose Chuuya specifically as his accomplice?
Maybe all that time in prison he heard Dazai constantly hyping Chuuya up and gushing about him. He heard about their shenanigans and the amount of trust they had in eachother. Maybe Dazai was just complaining and pouring his heart out about their complicated relationship.
And Fyodor thought it would be funny as hell and so much drama if Dazai gets killed by his own partner.
Dazai: And he didn't even kiss me after I went out of the way to recreate snow white!
Fyodor *fake gasp*: no shit, that's toxic!
Dazai: I know right, we never work it out :(
Fyodor: hey, maybe I could get you guys to meet and talk it all out....
Dazai: you would???
Fyodor, *evil smile* : of course, what else are enemies for?
Dazai: thanks bro, you're the best!
Dazai, in his head: Just as planned, he fell right into the trap or I say.....rat hole......ah that was a bad one
Dazai, in his head: I better call Mori and ask him to get Chibi a hot new outfit, he needs to look good for my confessions.....and the best part is he can't even deny or reject me when he is acting as a vampire...hehe. I should go practice my speeches.
Who wants to be the main character? I want to be the omniscient narrator of someone's story.
Re-watched and Re-read Death Note so...
As someone who is preparing for a career in law this will be rather interesting.
I know Misa and Mikami are Kira supporters but their own sense of Justice is different from Light's. Mikami is way more intense in punishing criminals and Misa does not care about Justice except for the fact it punished the criminals who killed her parents; she only punishes criminals for Light's attention.
Ryuk and L are more on the neutral side as in they either do not have any interest in justice or only care about having fun and not being bored. That's why Ryuk dropped the death note out of boredom and L solves cases when it's of personal intrigue to him, he is mostly morally grey.
The rest of the characters have their own unique sense of Justice (or the lack thereof).
(Have not read LA: BB case, I have no idea what BB is like except he is like the Lawlight lovechild)
Edit: LIGHT AND L BOTH WON WTF, IS THIS REAL? I LOVE THIS, THAT'S SO TRUE TO THE SERIES
*inserts Light and L saying "I am Justice" together*
Chuuya, singing in the kareoke: I wanna key his car, I wanna make him lunch
Dazai, whispering to Atsushi: Chuuya sounds so desperate
Chuuya: I wanna break his heart and be the one to stitch it up
Dazai: .....wait
Chuuya: Wanna kiss his face
*Dazai, smirks*
Chuuya, making a fist: with an uppercut
Dazai: oh no....
Chuuya: I wanna meet his mom, to tell her, her son sucks!!!
*ADA and PM laughing in the background*
Coming out today as a Kunikida x Yosano shipper
I think those two have the possibility of being a power couple ππ
Ps: Kousano and Kunizai shippers Plz don't come for me ππ
My new headcanon is that neither Atsushi nor Akutagawa know how babies are made.
Yosano: and they were totally doing it!
Atsushi: doing what?
Yosano: the deed!
Akutagawa: murder?
Ranpo: they don't know
Yosano: you two want some sex ed classes?
Atsushi: excuse me? That sounds like a bad word!
Akutagawa: I am not coming to whatever that is, we are not children
Dazai, with shining eyes: you see when two people really loovvee---
Yosano and Ranpo: *restraining Dazai*
Atsushi, confused after a mission: what exactly is the relationship between Dazai-san and Chuuya-san?
Fukuzawa: they are enemies
Kunikida: more like ex-coworkers
Yosano: definitely, enemies with benefits
Kyouka: best friends!
Kenji: they help each other out in times of great trouble like good neighbors :)
Junichiro: Aren't they rivals?
Naomi: I thought they were Ex-boyfriends!
Haruno: I heard they got divorced
Atsushi, even more confused: they were married????
*Everyone looks at Ranpo*
Ranpo, takes his Lollipop out: Gay.
Characters that fascinate me:
1. Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter): after re-reading HP again, I started to put more effort on dissecting the interactions between Dumbledore and other people, especially Harry and Snape. Dumbledore's strategies, plans and the use of emotions of other people for his favours and for the greater good is for me unlike what most people consider, admirable. I have heard many people mention the fact they hate Dumble's because he is "evil", I like morally grey characters and the fact is Dumbledore's actions were not evil in any way. Did he raise Harry to die? Yes. But that doesn't mean he did that for fun (or ounce presented a way to save Harry he didn't make sure to prevent his death). Every step Dumbledore took was to defeat Voldy in the end, who was committing mass genocide. To prevent deaths of hundreds, thousands of people, it was okay for him to sacrifice certain people (mostly Himself, Harry and Snape). I also think Dumbledore could or should have been in Ravenclaw or Slytherin because his qualities matches those houses more than Gryffindor (also can you imagine how conflicting it would have been for Harry if Dumbledore causally mentions he is a Slytherin or if he was a Ravenclaw there could have been more characters in that house than Quirrell and Lockhart of all people)
2. Β Daria Morgendorffer (Daria): if there was a character that I could relate to the most, it's her. Daria's cynical outlook, her quick wit, her quotes are so entertaining to watch. Its really amazing to be able to have a character that represents the perceptions of the quiet kids. As one of them, Daria is the representation of rebellion against the power hungry, capitalistic and tone deaf world we live in.
3. Amy Dunne (Gone Girl): this woman sacres me. She is the epitome of the perfectly imperfect villainous yet fascinating character that captures your attention. She is a psychopath. She is a liar. She is deranged. And I can't help liking her as a complex person.
4. Wanda Maximoff (Wandavison): from her ability to manipulate the minds of all the original avengers (except Hawkeye) in age of Ultron to her batshit crazy powers in multiverse of madness (including the fact defeating the entire illuminati while dream walking), Wanda had come far from being just another avenger to one of most powerful beings in the current MCU. And all of that due to a mother's love, shows you how powerful loss and love can be.
5. L. Lawliet (Death Note): world's top three detectives, the boy who stopped WW3 as a kid, the blueprint for Wammy's house, the deductive genius who almost captured the worst serial killer in history. L will never cease to be interesting. His backstory reveals that L was always the best, no matter if he could defeat Light Yagami or not (he sort of did defeat Light as he knew Light was Kira the 1st time he met him). The most interesting aspect of L is how neutral his moral ideals are, on one hand he spends all this time (literally, as he doesn't sleep) to solve the Kira case, on the other hand he isn't reluctant to play with people's emotions and sacrifice certain people to reach his end goals. While L is the antagonist, everyone loves him as the hero to Light's protagonist villain. I do love L as much as the next person; what I love more than that is how he is just as morally grey as Light but stays on the grey part and never becomes the villain he could be, something that Light became.
6. Allison Dilaurentis (Pretty Little Liars): in my opinion, the most evil of the onscreen Mean girls (except for Courtney Shane and Chanel Oberlin). Allison in the first few seasons was the most fascinating aspect of the show, the sheer power she holds in Rosewood, the way she manipulates all her friends, the way she could destroy lives of anyone she wants is the best part of her character. But after her return from the "dead" she became kinda boring and not the fantastic villain we wished she was. Like, they could have made Aria "A" instead of evil British cousin and made Allison the one controlling Aria, as it was clear Aria was hiding something about herself, the show also gave many clues about her and she seemed be the person Allison liked the most among the liars (she also got the least torment from Allison as well as A). It makes sense if they were both working together. But no, that's too predictable! You have to pull the evil twin plot for shock value!!!!
7. Regulus Black (Harry Potter): he is the best example of a good Slytherin (*ahem* Snape *ahem*). The best thing about his arc is he used to be a death eater but changed sides after knowing how shitty Voldy is, protected his house elf and sacrificed his life for the world. And had a better reason for changing sides than someone very similar to him (*ahem* Snape *ahem*)
Ps: I did not die. Next time.
Interviewer: so how do you feel like speaking right now?
INTP: I don't feel anything. I was told I will get 50 bucks for this.
Interviewer: haha really? You gave this interview just for the money?
INTP: of course, I would not talk to you if I wasn't paid for it.
Interviewer:....lets go to the first question. When do you wake up in the morning?
INTP: if I have to go to work 8 am and if I don't then 12 pm
Interviewer: and when do you sleep?
INTP: it depends on my caffeine level and current hobbies. A lot of all nighters if watching a new T.V show.
Interviewer: what's your favourite food?
INTP: anything that can be cooked with minimal cooking skills and effort
Interviewer: favourite season?
INTP: winter or autumn
Interviewer: favourite movie?
INTP: I can't choose one
Interviewer: favourite book?
INTP: don't go there.
Interviewer: what is your biggest dream in life?
INTP: I want to do something for the humanity.
Interviewer: that's nice
INTP: the lack of humanity in today's world baffles me. I thought I was aloof. But if everyone is like the people around me, even I want to help them.
Interviewer: how would you help humanity?
INTP: by destroying the humanity before humans destory each other and let the animals and plants live in peace.
Interviewer:....oh big dreams! Last question, how was your childhood like?
INTP: I grew up being paraded as a gifted child with intellect and curiousity. I didn't have friends and avoided any social situation. As I grew I realised my talents aren't valued by others and my mind was too fast for them. I slowed down and accepted that I am a medicore genius and my parents had lied to me about my abilities. I recently dropped out of college and adopted nihilism to make myself feel better about my failures and disappointments.
Interviewer: that's bad...
INTP: it doesn't matter much to me. My mom always told me I will end up in a jail or asylum. So life's been okay.
