This is a sketch I made inspired the smiling critters arg made by @novalizinpeace I just really love this au you made especially the ideas surrounding Theo and Nell.

Angel gets half drunk and tells the Prototype that they sometimes thought about adopting kids, but never went through with it because they never thought they would give the child a good life, and even if they did, they wouldn't want to raise a child without a friend. But now? Now they have 87 kiddos to worry about, and a friend to help them when they need it, and despite everything they went through, sometimes Angel really wants to believe that they indeed are a good parent to them, that they feel loved, that they feel safe. And Angel is saying all of this because they think no one else is hearing them, but Poppy started peering into the conversation right before they started their rant, and then Dogday joined in. And then Marie Long Legs, and then Catnap, and then Picky and Bobby, and then Delight, and now the older kids are all listening to the rant. And Angel concludes it by saying they hope that all of their kids can live for more years than all the time they spent surviving, because that's what they deserve. And they're crying, of course, because there's this recorrent nightmare of theirs, that one of them dies, or they all die, or they all suffer. And sometimes it feels too real for Angel's liking.

Poppy ends up opening the door. Angel is surprised, Prototype isn't – he knew they were there. The group hugs Angel. They cry a bit.

They'll live for a long time.

Fidget é o alívio cômico para muitos dos elementos mais sombrios e sérios da história e usa meta-ficção para quebrar a quarta parede, principalmente quando ela se refere a si mesma e aos outros como personagens de videogame, ou faz referências a outros jogos, não me achem um furry, sou um anthro fan, eu acho a fidget bem fofa e acho que ela combinaria como casal com o ori, pertence a outro jogo, chamado ori and the blind forest, mas na minha visão eu acho que o ori e a fidget são o amor da vida de um ao outro.

I know that trauma can make your brain "mentally age" age faster on a cellular level, especially if said trauma is almost getting mauled alive, having your insides ripped out, or.....Worse....

I think that is what is happening with the other critters (Minus Catnap aka, Theodore).

(Though I'm pretty sure Theodore has....Some trauma, though....I'm not to sure and it's just speculation.)

Thats a way of put it, yeah. But trauma can also make the mind go backward.

had you hear of those people that due childhood trauma or events in their past tend to close themself in a specific mental state (usually childhood or teenhood) due the fear of change? Aka Peter Pan syndrome.

That how we get case like Theo (Catnap), that unlike the rest of the critters that acts like really-traumatized young adults trying to survive, Theo has block his mind to everything that isn't how his character is supposed to act (the catnap from the cartoon) or his devotions to the prototype.

About the traumas in each critters, well, we're going to see those one little by little~
