Background Information for HTYD Next Gen Story
Night Fury Redesign - Peregrine Falcons, Panthers, Cats, Bats
- Long, pointed wings (Similar in shape to a Peregrine Falcons)
- Secondary 'wings' for stability and lift (The fins beneath his wings)
- Phalange on wing for manueverability
- Long bodies, with relatively short legs; Can be between 25 and 30 feet long
- Large keel for more powerful wing muscles
- Large chest to hold larger lungs that let them fly higher, and large airsacs
- Wings connected to forelimbs; Powerful shoulder and leg muscles to allow for taking off from the ground
- Three foreward facing toes, and two backwards facing toes on hind legs for grabbing fish
- Retractable teeth
- Powerful neck muscles to hold head steady when diving, and to hold the head still when flying in place
- Tails fins for stability, balance, lift generation, steering and air braking
- Extended spine plates that split to relax the spine and allow for tighter turns
- Nocturnal
Scale color is dependent on the color of the sky when they are in their eggs, such as if the sky is cloudy for a majority of incubation the hatchling will be grey rather than black or blue.
Eats fish, whales, sharks, deer, yaks, and sheep
Light Fury Redesign - Albatross, Thresher Shark, Fishing Cats, Axolotls
- Long, narrow wings for active soaring (Shaped like an Albatross' wings, but a little bit longer to hold them up)
- Short, rounded 'secondary' wings for stability in long flights; Capable of folding flat against the body
- Longer ears for better echolocation
- Small wing muscles because they 'lock' their wings in place to fly
- Large chest for large lungs and airsacs so they can fly high
- Sealable nostrils for when they swim
- Stocky, muscular build with short, muscular legs; Can be between 20 to 24 feet long
- Partial webbing between toes for better swimming
- A long, sickle shaped tail fin with the upper part being longer; Whips prey to stun them, both in and out of water (Like a Threshers tail)
- Shark-like fins on the tail, in front of the fin to help them swim quicker
- Slightly hooks claws, and inwardly curved teeth for catching fish; Retractable teeth and slightlt retractable claws
- Wavy, short sail fin down the spine, starting behind the wings and ending just path the secondary 'wings' and on the forehead
- Opaque scales; Thinner, but when heated mirror surroundings for short periods
Scale color is dependant on the warmth of the egg during incubation, such as being warmer leads to having darker colored scales while being cooler leads to lighter colored scales
Mainly pescetarian, sometimes feed on sharks or whales
Light Furies and Night Furies are close enough relatives that they will gather in small Prides when they feel threatened or their is not enough territory. Surprisingly Stormcutters can often be seen in these 'Prides' as they are gentle giants, and fiercly defensive.
Grimmel is actively hunting down Night Furies, so they stay hidden, not joining any nests and continuing on the move.
Chief Hiccup and Astrid had three children together, before disappearing on a rescue mission with the other Dragon Riders.
Hakkon, Frigga, and Skathi Haddock were then raised by Valka, Stoick and Gobber. (Stoick having survived Toothless' plasma blast by sheer luck but lost all feeling and motion in his left arm.)
Calumn, Dagur and Mala's son was raised by Mala with the help of the Beserkers and the Defenders of the Wing.
Asgeir and Sindri, Snotlouts son and daughter respectively, were raised seperately. Sindri was raised by her mother, Mindin with the Wingmaidens while Asgeir was raised by his grandfather, Spitelout.
Bragi, Fishlegs and Heathers son, was raised by Mala as well, having been taken in when she realized that Stoick and Valka were raising the three Haddock children.
Alva and Anja, identical twin daughters of Ruffnut, were raised by their father, Eret Eretson on Berk.
Bard, Tuffnuts son was raised by his Uncle, since his mother was unknown.

Dragon memes pt. 2 (Hiccup Time (+Dagur, Astrid, Heather)bc he's my favourite and I said so)
Need a runaway Hiccup au, where he runs away after the events of the first movie, riders and defenders of Berk. His entire village doesn't know about the whole Toothless thing and has been lying through his teeth for years, how he lost his leg, why he's always tired, why he is barely around.
He still has Stormfly, Hookfang, Meatlug, Barf and Belch they are like his highly coordinated/trained but still stupid and dumb as fuck ride or die gang, they just don't have riders.
He runs away and forms the Edge that slowly gets bigger as he stumbles upon Heather and befriends Dagur again. Also, Viggo survives his attempt of trying to sacrifice himself for Hiccup and joins the small, slightly batshit insane group.
Hiccup teaches Viggo on ways his tribe can thrive without having to harm or sell dragons.
So now Hiccup is leading this even more ragtag group, that is more or less just Viggo trying to keep his sanity while the others keep egging each other on.

I am 100% convinced that Dagur actually really likes Snotlout and all the "Snothat" jokes are just brotherly affection and because, let's face it, it's hilarious when Snotlout gets pissy and defensive.

Something i've noticed.
So recently, i've been rewatching Httyd: Rtte, and have noticed something about Heather that I wanted to comment on, even if other people have, too. While I feel that emotionally, Heather was ready to be a spy for Hiccup and the Riders, strategically, she was not for a multitude of reasons. She had been out on her own and away from people for a good period of time, and even when she had been around Hiccup and the rides in DoB (or RoB can't remember when she was introduced), her people skills were quite lacking, and she had never been in a trade where strategy and lying are quite common. On Berk, for the most part, Hiccup and the Riders were very straight forward with her. She was very guarded with her information, unlike Johann who had carefully crafted a persona to distance his actual self from Hiccup, and give information away quietly. Heather was not quiet about information that she dropped. She told them every single mission, and that itself was a huge indicator that she was the mole. Take Viggo when he's introduced in "Maces and Talons, Part 1". When I first watched the show, I didn't notice it, but coming back and watching the way that Viggo introduces himself to both Heather and Dagur (because while he may have had more suspision towards Heather, her and Dagur are still siblings, they could both be in on it) he immediately clocks in on the fact that at least one of them is lying about their allegance. "They say there are two ways to be fooled: One is to believe what isn't true, the other is to refuse to believe what is." He knows. He knows that one of them is lying. The way that he's framed, the way that he looks back at Heather and Dagur, there's an immediate sense of unease that comes with that situation, and any viewer can feel that with the music and the way that Viggo speaks. Coming back around to Heather, I believe, at least to a certain extent, that she knew that Viggo was onto her. I mean, the man took her out onto the cliffs and talked about weeding out the "wrong-doer in our midst" which is inherently a set up that neither Heather nor Hiccup realized. During Viggo and Heather's talk, I found myself paying attention to Viggo and the way he was talking to Heather. His body language is very calm and somewhat comforting given the circumstances. He puts his arm around her, and immediately is open and honest with her- at least, that's what she thinks- he calls her "my dear," and trusts her with this big mission of apparently finding out the mole, which in Heathers mind is proving to him that she's trustworthy and can handle information. He's giving her a chance to prove herself, or prove to him that she's the mole.
It's brillant, in a way- because who else besides Heather knew the information about the Flightmare? In his own words, Viggo told her to "keep it to ourselves," and Hiccup and the Riders just so happen to know exactly where they are exactly when they're coming? It was very obvious. And, if this had been played right with Hiccup and Heather, they could have avoided this situation all together. If, quite frankly, Hiccup and the riders had let Viggo have the Flightmare, they could have exponentially gained more information because, at least for a little bit, Heather had proved herself to Viggo. So, Tdlr, Viggo is the best written villain of Httyd because of the way that he critically understands people. I truly think about what would could have been if Viggo had been the one to mentor Hiccup. I know that this is probably obvious, but I did want to word vomit about it. So, uh, bye!

Dagur is definitely a bandit that steals from wagons even though he comes from a rich family 😁. That or he's taking care and riding bulls, that would suit him too.
Eret is definitely a Native American enslaved by Drago (branded and possibly forced to have his hair shortened and tied), forced to steal wild horses while his tribe used to protect them and guide them (coming from his original Saami culture where they take care, hoard and help reindeers to migrate).
Honestly I guess it mostly depends on the timeline, if we're talking true wild west with bandits, natives and slavery, OR it's a modern timeline and they actually join western games! That would be so cool. Rodeo, bull riding, possibly Equestrianism performances (classy Viggo), all that kind of stuff. ❤️

please let me know if I’ve made any mistakes in crediting but these guy’s posts were my main inspiration fr
enjoy some WIPs, currently I’m making them for reference so I can draw the gang doing some scenes
might have gone a bit insane over the festive season and fallen head first into this western AU. basically everything is the same but instead of Vikings it’s cowboys! I’m gonna colour these all and want to do more art/drawings of this too bc it has been occupying my thoughts lol

- set in a fictional Old West, similar to how the canon treats Viking lore and accuracy, assume this is the same 😂
- in this AU, Hiccup loses his leg before he meets Toothless in some sort of stampede/horse-related accident, which makes Stoic, the cheif of the town, more protective of him/not want him to go near them
- Hiccup finds Toothless as a wild mustang, trapped in a gorge. Hijinx ensue, Hiccup saves him, and they bond.
-Hiccup and Fishlegs live in the same town. Astrid, Lout, Ruff and Tuff are part of a group of travelling cowboys from out of town or somethin lol. Something happens and Legs and Hic have to travel with them for a bit. Haven’t worked everything out yet but if people have ideas feel free to let me know!
- Ruff and Tuff are in charge of the supplies wagon and they often confuse Barf & Belch with their arguing. The poor horses go in different directions or one of them might stop while the other keeps going 😭
- Meatlug is usually seen pulling a little wagon with extra supplies/Fishlegs rides in the wagon sometimes when they go on adventures so she ends up being the slowest in the group, similar to how she is the slowest of the gang’s dragons
- Hookfang is an Arabian horse and he has a really firey temper and has a similar relationship to Snotlout as in the canon. Snotlout made Hookfang rear up on his hind legs once, but Snotlout fell off and Hookfang left him in the dust 💀
- Astrid is the leader of the cowboys. Stormfly has little braids in her mane as that’s Astrid’s way of showing affection.

Viggo: That's an interesting idea. How about you Eret? Who do you see yourself as?
Eret: Me? Well I'm a born sailor but my parents and family always said I have a hot head...... But I would say water. Fire never did me any good.
It happened spontaneously, but I love AU. So… Avatar Hiccup. Hiccup considered himself an ordinary person before meeting Toothless. (Dragons can be equated to spirits, i mean relationships between people and them). Then he discovered his talent as an airbender and Toothless became his teacher. Later, other talents were discovered, which made it clear that Hiccup was an avatar.
Astrid became his waterbender teacher. Snotlout was an adept of firebender, but he sincerely did not understand how to teach, because he himself used magic on a subconscious level. Fishlegs is an earthbender, but he did not go beyond the amateur level and could not become a teacher. The twins are always on their own wave. Ruffnut is a master in airbending and can perform techniques with clouds of gas, while Tuffnut is not a master, but is ready to set fire to the gas with his sparks at any moment. The twins always come in a set.
Brothers Grimborn! Lord of Fire Viggo. The aesthetics of blue flame and lightning were created for him. So I couldn't resist. The hottest flame and deadly techniques of lightningbending made him the most terrible opponent for the young avatar, but in the future, he will become the teacher of fire magic for Hiccup. I endowed Riker with explosion magic, as for me, it suits him perfectly. An explosive mixture of rage and bloodlust.
Berserkers! Remembering Viggo's words about how the berserkers in ancient times lured the Skrills with metal, I thought about a tribe practicing metalbending. Dagur discovered his talent for earth magic much later, including metal. I like to think that Dagur could be a threat to the avatar even as an ordinary person, relying on his ingenuity and physical strength. Heather is a master of earth and metal magic, she could well become Hiccup's teacher in this matter.
Dagur: Well, better luck next time. When you'd like to try more cooler costumes, let us know.

Dagur: I like to dress as Horror movie characters with these three and with my kids and Mala we went as Winnie Pooh characters.
Eret: You should've seen him then catching up with us with an actual chainsaw 😂. At the end of the night he thought his arms would fall off from how heavy it is.
Dagur: How do the killers manage to run after the victims?! It's impossible!
Viggo: I do like to dress as classy or old movie characters. James Bond, Phantom of the Opera, Zoro,.... I must say I aced the Two Face two years ago. I almost won the costume contest.
Eret: Told ya you should've gone as Freddie Kruger.
Viggo: Never.
Eret: Anyhow, I love this holiday almost as much as Christmas! Especially because I can make a real fun out of it!
Dagur: And be topless.
Eret: That too. But not all the time! Remember last year? When the three of us went as Alien, Predator and Rambo?
Viggo: *groans loudly* Why did I have to be the Rambo?
Dagur: Because we're trying to stop Eret from smoking and Rambo's costume needed cigar to look badass.
Eret: So there's that, Hiccup. Wanna join us for our newest group costume? We'd thought you'd make an awesome Joker for our Arkham's finest. Either that or we're going as department jobs. I'd like to be a Firefighter, Dagur here wants to be a Police officer, Viggo wants to be Medic and you can be a Park manager!
"Ah, well, I had no idea who any of those people were that you were talking about, but Ashleigh explained it to me as best she could. Halloween is new to me, as well, actually.
"But, that being said, it would be fun to have Toothless dressed up as a sheep. We'd need a lot of wool, though. When I asked the family, Nuffink wanted to be Gobber, and Zephyr insisted on no costume, because she doesn't want to be anyone but herself. I can't argue with her for that reasoning, it's pretty solid. Once I explained it a bit more, she settled on a bird, so we're working on gathering up enough feathers for her costume.
"Astrid, she is dressing up as Stormfly, and Stormfly... probably isn't getting a costume. She'll happily wear her saddle, but only that.
"As for me...I appreciate the offer to be a Joker, but I'll have to pass. I have some plans for a Toothless costume, and I think you'll be impressed with the end result, once it's put together!"
