You're so right you're so right you're so right you're so right you're so right you're so right you're so right you're so right you're so right you're so right you're
Love love love characters that present themselves as emotionally open social butterflies but the more you see of them the more obvious it is that they’re the most closed off fuckers in the story. Sure, they want to help you with your personal problems and messy emotions, but if you turn that shit back on them, they’ll shut down or deflect every time. Why are you sticking your nose in their business anyway? It’s not like it matters. They’re not a person, they’re just a role being played. They’re the guy who fixes things and saves people. Please ignore the man behind the mask, he’s fine. Everything’s fine.
I CANT, EACH TIME I SEE HISOKA ON SCREEN I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO TAKE A BATH, WHY HE ALWAYS LOOKS AT THE VIEWERS SO INTIMATELY????????
idk how to say this without sounding really boomer-ey, but like, what happened to horror content for kids? maybe i’m using the word “horror” a little liberally but i remember when i was a kid there was SO much out there that existed solely for the purpose of scaring kids in a safe, fun, age-appropriate way. just off the top of my head there’s goosebumps, scary stories to tell in the dark, tales from the crypt (little before my time though), coraline, mirror mask, monster house, dark crystal (more incidentally scary but w/e), even courage the cowardly dog; all these really fantastic books and shows and movies that let kids explore being scared on their own terms.
now there’s idk, those new addams family movies? but those aren’t really scary.
i see people talking about the “kid-ification” of horror games and i can’t help but wonder if part of the reason kids latch onto that stuff so much now is because there’s nowhere else for them to experience healthy, safe fear. a little kid wants to get the thrill of being scared, but their parents won’t let them watch any actual horror movies, so they go on youtube and what do you know, there’s markiplier playing another cheap horror game set in a toy store or whatever, and now that kid’s fear quota is being met. (obviously there’s more to it than that, but it’s a theory i have)
this like, doesn’t really matter probably but idk, i feel bad that ~kids these days~ aren’t getting the experience of something scary made specifically for them with their genuine enjoyment in mind, rather than whatever the next fnaf ripoff is that just wants to sell them merch. being a kid and watching a well-made scary movie feels like you’re finally being taken seriously; you’re not being babied or coddled, you’re being trusted to face the skeksis and the other mother and the nebbercracker house and not back down. i wish people were still making media that respected kids that much.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again: you can call Fantasy High a magic version of The Breakfast Club all you want, but Fantasy High is ACTUALLY a magic version of Lemonade Mouth
ever since I was a young lad I knew I wanted to be a middle-aged man with an undone tie around his neck who’s having a crisis so he goes to the bathroom to splash water on his face only to look up at himself in the mirror and wonder at the stranger looking back
AUGGH THERES SOMETHING ABOUT THE PARALLELS BETWEEN THE OKDER TWINS AND THE YOUNGER TWINS
Like how the younger twins have parallels between each of the older twins, but are still not them and super different just as much as they are similar!!
Like,
Stanford & Dipper (Dippers birthmark parallels Fords six fingers, they’re both nerdy and were bullied, etc.)
This one’s obvious, along with Stanley & Mabel (being the twin that feels ‘lesser’ or ‘dumber’ than the other, fear of being abandoned, etc.)
But people don’t notice and/or talk about the parallels between Stanley & Dipper and Ford & Mabel!!
Stanley & Dipper (Being weak and kinda wimpy as children, Stan related to him with that, both of them being stubborn and reckless, etc.)
Stanford & Mabel (They both can get way too absorbed in their own things that they forget about other peoples feelings, etc. I love Ford and Mabel so much and this isn’t meant to be mean.)
But then we see that the younger twins are still very much themselves, and not direct copies of the older twins, and I love that so much!!
So...between Lanyon and Jekyll not having been seen since the night before, and "Hyde" being seen fleeing the house the next morning in Henry's cloths....the lodgers most definitely assume a threesome happened, right? Like the new rumor is that Henry, Edward, AND Robert are all an item together, right? XD
[Foaming at the mouth while gripping you by the shoulders] You don't understand. Chani leaving at the end was about so much more than the romance. It outlined the entire point of the story. Chani in the film STANDS for the POINT Herbert was trying to make. About how wrong Pauls actions really were, about how religion was being utilised as a tool of political power, about how her own people were turned into tools of invaders. Chani is the voice of reason in this film and she leaves. She just leaves. She wants nothing to do with what Paul has become. Do you understand.
It's very sad to me that despite Harley Sawyer being a fan favorite he's so horribly misunderstood by the fandom. YES he is an evil scientist, but acting like he's generic or doesn't have a solid or interesting motivation is silly. We see in the ARG that he was practically "groomed"(for lack of a better word) into the role, Playtime Co saw the potential he had for their evil and they trained him to do so. And in the end, they punished him for becoming what they always wanted him to be.
Not to mention the implications that he comes from an abusive home, no wonder he turned out how he did. Obviously I'm not trying to excuse his actions(I LOVE EVIL MAD SCIENTISTS!!!), but there's so much more to him as a character than the fandom seems to care about. I think Poppy Playtime consistently has VERY fascinating characters that get boiled down to their most surface level traits - Harley, Doey, and Stella are all victims of this.
All I'm saying is He Wenzhao broke Qingmiao's heart by fucking Shu Yanyan so she should get back at him by fucking Shu Yanyan too- LISTEN.

i think it's time to take a page from the james flint gay agenda manifesto; stop trying to convince people that the queers are not a danger to society, and become a menace to civilisation instead. the real queer agenda should be to overthrow any and all social systems. work in tandem with other marginalised groups and set heteropatriarchy on fire. become ungovernable, ignore social norms, uplift new voices. assimilation should not have ever been the goal. queer people are different. difference is good. the real enemy is conformity. conformity is responsible for every man made horror in history. war, poverty, hate crimes, slavery, genocide, they are all made possible by the existence and desirability of a status quo. remove the desirability of normalcy and you remove the foundation for all systems of suffering. systems work because a majority of people have decided it was in their best interest to uphold them. but is it really? remove the desirability of normalcy and you have no grounds for competition. keep quiet out of fear that the system will decide you are abnormal next, and you are making sure it will. fuck civilisation, fuck normalcy, fuck the status quo.
posted this before forever ago but idc y'all don't UNDERSTAND. Rotted Out With Flies by Kevin Atwater is LITERALLY Michael and Jeremy
I feel like this sums up most of V and Johnny's relationship in the game
it's really funny to me that —in my head— bruce actually stopped 'adopting' children after jason. like, he adopted dick and jason. that's it. the rest? oh, the rest adopted him. like, steph literally showed up at his door and wouldn't leave. and tim blackmailed him.
Underrated part about Ninjago is how they use EVERY opportunity for character interactions.
It’s not just limited to casual scenes where “Okay it’s time for these two characters to talk and bond”
There is almost never a moment in the show where the characters, especially the leads, are just standing there. There’s always some sort of interaction going on, even if it’s minor.
Action scene? There’s still banter.
Exposition dump? There’s still banter.
It’s a small thing, but one that sells the main characters bond as a team that much more. It also makes scenes boring on paper feel memorable in viewers mind.
There’s usually someone making fun of someone’s bad puns. Or just each other. That’s why most of Kai’s roasts on Jay and his sister for example are quotable.
There’s usually something going on in the background. Like when Lloyd and Nya are talking about their plan to face the Ice Emperor, there’s the others in the background getting assaulted by a hammock.
Even in what should be a dry scene about plot exposition, there’s some sort of interaction happening. Kai being high on snake venom. Jay interrupting a backstory to question the wording. Nya nagging Cole’s babysitting tactics and Jay stabbing Kai’s hand with a fork.
Take other shows where the large cast of characters are just standing there and/or just talking about the exposition and nothing else. Not that they would never interact, it’s usually just scenes that are designed specifically for interaction.
Not only does it make Ninjago more fun, but it also makes the bond between this decent sized lead cast feel real.
