I got this fold-out flyer in 1988, before the movie opened (like a lot of promo material, it calls the movie a “hit” before anyone ever saw it).  I can’t remember exactly where it came from.  I think it was free in a movie theater.

They call Beej a demon though he’s not a demon.

There’s an episode in the cartoon where Beetlejuice wins the title of Prom King.

Spoiler Alert: he was a loser and it was all a trap to bully him even more. It was sad, really. No one in his highschool wanted to go out with him, so he resorted to calling random girls from a yellow page book – which also didn’t go well. Then finally after being rejected by literally EVERY GHOUL IN THE NEITHERWORLD, he created his own babe out of a broken toaster and broken voice chips from answering machines.

No one realized she was robot till after they won king and queen. And I gotta say – BJ’s got some moves on the dance floor! Anyway they found a way to give him a SPLASH back to reality … robots and water – ya know they don’t end well.

In the end he never gave in to feeling bad for himself — I wouldn’t call him a hero either cuz he literally flooded the school after. 

Anyway I’m glad Lydia came into his life, she’s the yin to his yang.
