yeah, midnight d&d post.

my tired brain decided now was a good time to mention that one of my shops for my new campaign is called the crow bar.

it is a bar.

for crows.

it is not a bar for people.

for people, it is basically like a repairs shop, but the lady who runs it also basically looks after a whole murder of crows.

also she’s cool and has a mechanical hand and is probably a lesbian.

he returns

so i have this group, right, we play dnd every sunday and take turns dming. so our current campaign is going great, i have two characters on deck to choose from for our next one and then someone pipes up saying they have an idea for the next campaign. this campaign sounds bangin, no issue there.

however

this campaign involves a character they have sent me art of, a character they had said would get along great with my pc from their last campaign. so, here i am, looking at my elf warlock and my daemonfae warlock/bard, and coming to the realization they might just have to wait. oliver beckons me back.

for context, oliver is a skeleton bard with the noble background, he’s a cocky bastard with no regard for anyone but himself, he thinks he’s better than everyone and flirts with anyone, he’s super rich and thinks he’s more important than he really is, also he seduced the leader of the gang we were supposed to face off against at the end of the campaign and gave him his number. so yeah. guess my sexy skeleton is back.

two characters for the price of one! torrid sinclair and hope

so torrid is a fire genasi bard, hope is a white tiefling divination wizard. both are of the noble background.

torrid is the daughter and only child of ember and damon sinclair, a fire genasi woman and a human man. they were a political marriage and, though they didn’t have a marriage based on love, were a powerful alliance. they raised their daughter to be strong independently with the knowledge that she would one day be married to another family’s heir to forge a political alliance. she was always fierce and still reserved, a gifted diplomat. torrid went to parties and other events of importance with her parents from a young age. it was at one of these events that she first met hope.

hope is the eldest daughter of euphoria and ralcius, both also white tieflings. she was the first child they were able to have after a great many failures to produce an heir. after hope, they had two other daughters, velkaria and anisolis. hope was a sick child, one such illness claiming the sight in one of her eyes.

torrid and hope knew they would not be allowed together, both being noblewomen destined to marry men of their parents’ choosing, but they stole what time they could. they would duck out of parties, walk the courtyards together, enjoy their little moments of peace away from duties and family.

it didn’t last. they were found out eventually, hope’s parents deciding to put a swift end to it. she was quickly engaged, set to be married off to a man she did not know.

torrid wanted to run away with her, leave their lives behind and start anew, free to love each other, free to be together.

but hope was a dutiful daughter. she would do as her parents wished.

the sinclairs attended the wedding. it would be improper were they to decline the invitation. so torrid sat, trapped between her parents, as the woman she loved was walked down the aisle to a stranger.

ember gripped her daughter’s wrist tight as the officiate asked for any objections. she would not tolerate her daughter giving in to impulsiveness and disgracing their family. so torrid held her tongue.

still, as hope kissed her new husband, torrid could stay and watch no longer. she wrenched her arm away from her mother and stood, storming out with tears in her eyes.

they didn’t see each other again.

okay so these two met at a bar. dorian got dragged out by a handful of dorm mates and johnny was there looking to enjoy his time on land and maybe find a couple new recruits. dorian wasn't really the sort he would usually try to bring on board but he was really cute and awkward and he looked so out of place that johnny decided that he needed someone to talk to. so he approached and dorian was just as cute and awkward up close and in conversation. dorian, for his part, had absolutely no idea how to deal with this very attractive stranger talking to him of all people.

they both felt something that first night and decided to meet again the next day. and the next. and the next. and so on until johnny was set to depart again. and so johnny, now knowing what his new friend was studying (and clearly very skilled at), asked if he wanted to come along. after all, he said, the ship could use someone with proper medical training.

dorian, not wanting to lose johnny after finding someone he actually clicked with for the first time in years, agreed.

and so it went for quite some time, the two of them onboard the same ship, johnny finding excuses to go see dorian, dorian thinking that johnny's flirting was just how he was and too afraid of ruining their friendship to actually make a move. if you asked johnny how long they had been together, he couldn't give you a date but he would tell you they had been together for ages. if you asked dorian, he would say they weren't that sort of together, not that he wouldn't like to be of course, but he didn't think johnny liked him like that.

eventually someone told john that dorian didn't think they were together and johnny realized that oh, they hadn't actually talked about it, had they? he'd just assumed they were going at dorian's pace but apparently that wasn't so. so they talked, and dorian was so happy he cried, and there was a lot of laughter from the cabin that dorian used as his little base of operations.

dorian is still flustered every time that johnny says he loves him, unable to believe his good fortune. johnny reminds him often.

I'm back! With two characters!

todays characters are johnny "long dong" silver and dorian brackenborough from my pirate campaign!

so starting with johnny, he is a very charismatic individual, long greying hair and eyes that sparkle with mischief. he's the bosun of the main pirate ship in this campaign. johnny silver is a trans man, the nickname "long dong" referring to his old, frankly huge packer. He has since transitioned with the help of a wizard with true polymorph but the packer still shows up around the ship because some of the crewmates find it funny to just hide it somewhere until someone finds it. "long dong's on the loose" is a phrase heard more often than one might think.

dorian brackenborough is the ship's doctor. he was a medical student when he first met johnny and he fell hard and fast. he's quiet, gentle, not the type for piracy really. still, when johnny asked him if he wanted to join up, he couldn't say no.

johnny and dorian are now together and have been for quite some time. they are still idiots for each other, though. johnny loves to call dorian all sorts of pet names, though darling is a favorite to the point that some folks just call dorian "johnny's darling" or "johnny darling" because it always makes him blush. johnny also, much to dorian's annoyance, has a tendency to hurt himself just for an excuse to see his boyfriend.

anyhow, they are in love and i love them dearly.

considering i just reblogged a post saying i talk about mythology, figure now might be a good time to talk some more about my campaign.

character of the day: parthenia.

she’s a devout worshiper of zeus, specifically of the epithet of zeus xenios. she runs a sort of boarding and bathhouse for travellers passing through called the golden oak. if you know zeus’ symbols, you’ll understand.

so far i have her described as the human embodiment of a warm blanket and a cup of hot chocolate. i considered giving her a child with zeus, but she has far too much respect for hera to accept his advances.

normally i know this would not stop zeus. in this case, i don’t want it as part of my campaign.

so she’s favored by hera and is generally just a lovely person.

I do genuinely enjoy doing dice recommendations (I enjoy all my services but especially my recs) so ya know, send me in!!!!!!

this character is captain talaera! she’s the main pirate captain in the campaign i’m writing right now!
