“Mon fil,” Pascal said. His smile was as warm as always when he saw Logan. “To what do I owe the surprise?”

Logan felt relieved to be able to speak his mother tongue. “Salut. I- can I come in?”

Pascal stepped to the side and let Logan enter. Immediately, he was grabbed around the waist in a hug. “Tremzy! What are you doing here?”

Logan smiled down at an excited Katie. She had grown now, almost up to his chest. “I’m here to talk with your dad.”

“Can we play Mario Kart after?”

“Of course, just give me a few minutes.”

She ran down the stairway to their basement to set up the XBox. Pascal was looking at Logan knowingly and beckoned with his hand. “Come. I’ll make us some tea.”

Five minutes later, they were sat at the counter together, Logan knocking his heels against the stool like he’d never left. He loved his life now more than he could say, but he did sometimes yearn to be back here, shoulder to shoulder with the kids, speaking French and cooking with Celeste. Pascal looked at Logan like he knew that. He probably did.

“Everything okay?”

Logan nodded. “Ouais. Actually, it’s- it’s really good.” Logan reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a black velvet box, flicking it open with his thumb. Pascal’s eyes widened, but he waited for Logan to say something. Logan laughed nervously and looked him in the eye. “They’re rings.”

“I see that.”

“For Finn and Leo.”

“I assumed that.”

Logan felt like he was vibrating. “I’m going to ask them to marry me.”

Pascal’s smile was the widest Logan had ever seen it. “Mon fil. Of course you are.” At Logan’s still nervous expression, he furrowed his brow. “What’s wrong?”

Logan took a shaky breath in. “I just- I don’t know. Sometimes I don’t feel I deserve this, I don’t know.”

Pascal rubbed a hand on his back. “What do you mean?”

Logan closed his eyes against the tears he could feel at the back of his eyes. “I hurt Finn. A lot. And we’ve talked about it before, and we still talk about it now, but… it’s still painful to think about.” He opened his eyes and looked into Pascal’s. They were worried, and a bit sad, but always gentle. “I hurt Finn, but I still get him, and I get Leo. It feels…”

“Too lucky?”

“Ouais.” Logan let his head fall back a little. “I just want to be a good husband to them.”

“Logan.” Pascal’s voice was softer now as he pulled Logan into a hug. “You will. You’ll be such a good husband to them, mon fil.” He squeezed Logan tightly. “You love each other, and you treat each other well. And you being nervous just shows how much you care, how dedicated you are to them.”

Logan nodded. “Ouais. Ouais, you’re right.”

“And you and Finn hurting each other doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to be happy now, d’accord? You had a few rough years together, but you’ll have many more beautiful ones, and this time with Leo, too.” Pascal went silent for a few moments before speaking more carefully. “Are you also nervous because- the distance?”

Logan sighed. “Non, not- a little, ouais, but not really. We said we wanted to get married regardless. It won’t be easy, but I want to marry them.” He saw their eyes so clearly in the forefront of his mind. “I want to marry them more than anything.”

Pascal’s laugh shook their bodies. “Then what is all the worrying for?”

Logan smiled and shook his head. “I don’t know.” He hugged Pascal tightly. “Merci.”

“Any time, you know that.” They pulled apart and each took a sip of their tea. “Now, there is a girl downstairs who’s waiting for her favorite person to play with her. Why don’t you go join her, d’accord?”

Logan nodded and picked up his mug. “Ouais, I’ll go join her.” He caught Pascal’s eye once more. “I’m going to be happy. With them.”

Pascal’s laugh lines stretched as he smiled. “Oh, mon fil. You already are.”

Hi everyone!

I received an ask today requesting a fic with Barty Crouch Jr. and Evan Rosier in it as main characters alongside the Cubs, and I just want to say that I won't be writing anything with them, nor any other characters in the Marauders fandom besides the ones that 1) are explicitly mentioned in SW/Vaincre AND 2) that are directly involved with the Cubs (a great example being Regulus as Leo's best friend). Otherwise, this is a Cubs blog, and will stay that way.

I don't know if any of you have seen, but there has been a massive legal infringement on transgender rights in the UK, with their Supreme Court deciding that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex, which will affect how transgender folks are treated under the Equality Act. She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has publically, ARDENTLY supported this ruling, as well as making some aphobic comments on social media. As such, I will not be involving any of her characters that don't need to be added. O'Knutzy is its own entity, courtesy of Hazel's brilliant brain, and is not created by the She-Devil.

I'm writing a post about this because I don't want any of you to think I don't read the asks, and to give this anon a justified answer as to why I wouldn't be writing the prompt. This is not to make anyone feel bad, nor to tell them to distance themselves from the Mauraders fandom. I know many people have found community and joy there! However, if you continue to interact with content, you must be aware of the effects it has. Supporting it, while not directly contributing to anything HP-related, signals that it is still an active fandom capable of being monetized (think: the Harry Potter TV series, for example- it only is happening because HP continues to be so popular in the secular world), which allows Her to continue having influence and a voice. I am not here to speak for the transgender friends that have found and continue to find community in the Marauder's fandom- they obviously have the right to engage with whatever content they would like, just like every other person! This is also not to stop people from enjoying the queer media they enjoy. But I encourage you to center trans voices and listen to them as things in the UK move forward (or, backward, I really should say). Furthermore, please support them, inform yourselves, and engage with queer media that is queer in its essence and is positively queer (such as Heartstopper! Or the hundreds of other books, TV shows, comics, movies, artists, etc. that are LGBTQIA+ and that we already have!).

As for me, I will continue to be just an O'Knutzy blog! They're so cute and lovely, and I love the community that I have found here!

I wrote a LOT yesterday, so expect another post in a couple of days! Have a lovely evening! <3 <3

O'Knutzy Household, May 2024

Finn knelt on the floor of their walk-in closet, peering around underneath the bottom shelf. He'd known he could've summoned his wand with an accio, but his brain was so fried after marking exams all day that he could barely do magic with his wand, nevermind without it. He squinted, peering through the darkness to where he'd estimated it had fallen out of his robes as he'd shrugged them off.

“Ah,” he said, spotting the thin piece of wood. It was all the way at the back. He stretched his long arm, grasping for it, when his fingers brushed something else.

Finn furrowed his brow and wrapped his fingers around his wand, murmuring a soft lumos. The light shined brightly in the small, dark space, illuminating a cardboard box. Written on the side were the years 2014-2016. He smiled, reaching his other hand to grab the box, and stood to go into their dining room.

Soon, he was sat with a cup of tea, rifling through the photos he hadn't seen in a while. He guessed that they hadn't bothered to unpack this box when they moved into their house a year ago, after their wedding, which he thought was a shame really.

Some of the photos were unremarkable, some a little goofy. There was one of Logan and Sirius with severely overgrown eyebrows, both glaring off camera where Finn assumed Remus and James were stood laughing. It was a moving photo, but Logan and Sirius had been so still with annoyance that it looked like a Muggle one. Another was of Leo and Regulus brewing a potion together, anxious and stressed expressions on their faces. Regulus was flipping off the camera. Finn hadn't been there for this photo (it was during Leo's last year, the year after Finn and Logan had graduated), but he did remember having a two-way mirror call with an anxious Leo the night before his final potions exam (which he got a perfect score on in the end).

Finn flipped through a few more, smiling at the wave of memories that came back to him. Even though both he and Leo now worked in the same walls they'd gone to school within, being a student at Hogwarts was nothing like being a teacher. It did have some perks (like being able to share a room with Logan and Leo instead of having to sneak into one another's beds), but Finn did miss that youthful, jubilant feeling of being in school with his favorite people around all day, every day.

One photo in particular made him stop and laugh softly. It was of the three of them the day Logan had been signed to the Chudley Cannons. Leo had his arm wrapped tenderly around Logan's waist, smiling sweetly as he always did. Logan looked a little sheepish, but proud, holding his new jersey. Finn, on the other hand, was jostling Logan with an arm around his shoulder, the other holding a sign that said Let's Go Lolo! with a poor drawing of the Hufflepuff badger. In the moving photo he and Leo both leaned in to press a kiss to each of Logan's cheeks at the same time, and Logan's eyes crinkled with his laughter. Finn had been so proud that day he could've bursted.

Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch, April 2015

Finn sat anxiously in the stands, his leg bouncing as he scanned the field for Logan. The prospective players were warming up on the field below, both Logan and James among them, stretching and flying laps around the perimeter. Finn eyed the professional scouts as well, high up in the stands where the teachers normally sat. They were peering down critically, talking amongst one another with notebooks in their hands. Finn sucked in a breath and played with the thick paper in his hand.

“I hope that isn't what I think it is, O'Hara.”

Finn's eyes lit up as Leo climbed the last few stairs to where Finn was, shuffling over to sit next to him. Leo’s eyes were playful, his grin happy and sunshiny and all things good. Finn nudged him with his shoulder. “What can I say? Your dad’s Muggle football obsession has rubbed off on me. Gotta show the world I'm Lo's number one fan.”

Leo quirked an eyebrow and reached out to play with Finn's Gryffindor tie, loose around his neck. “Who says you're his number one fan?”

Finn smiled, leaning in. “We can share that coveted position.” He kissed Leo briefly. “Hi.”

Leo smiled against his mouth. “Hi, cariad. How are you?”

“Good,” Finn said. His leg was still bouncing. “Nervous.”

Leo placed a hand on his thigh. “Did you go for a run this morning? You know how your pent-up energy gets.”

Finn knocked his head against Leo's shoulder. “Yes, I did, nutter butter. It's just a big day.” He rested his chin on Leo's shoulder. “How was the library?”

Leo kissed his forehead. “Good. Finished my Arithmancy assignment. Reg and I are gonna meet with Lily tomorrow to do some Advanced Potions stuff.”

Finn lifted his head and raised his eyebrows. “I thought you were taking that class next year?”

Leo blushed. “Lily offered to teach us some stuff early.”

“Love,” Finn said soothingly, scratching a hand through Leo’s scalp. “You're going to be fine next year, both you and Regulus are. You're so good at Potions, I don't want you to stress yourself if you don't have to.”

Leo considered this for a moment. “But I like to be ahead. The stuff we do now is too easy.” His ears turned a bit red. “Plus, the three of us experiment.”

Finn snorted. “I don't even want to know. Just be careful, please. We don't need the future of the Potions field blowing up in a disaster of their own making.”

Leo rolled his eyes playfully. “I'll be careful, promise.” He sighed, resting his forehead on Finn's shoulder. “I just… I don't know, I want to be good, you know? I want to prove that a Muggle-born can do all the things. Lily, too. And Reg- well.”

Finn laughed. “Wants to prove that he's more than just a disgraced run-away heir and that he actually has a brain behind all that rich boy nonsense?”

Leo smiled into Finn's shoulder. “Yeah.”

Finn wrapped an arm around his shoulders. “Le, you're going to be fantastic. You're the smartest person I know.”

“Says you.”

“Yes, says me, so then you know it's on good authority.” He kissed Leo's curls. “Besides, if Potions doesn't work out, you could always play Quidditch.”

Leo snorted. “You know, most people don't have professional Quidditch as their backup plan.”

“You could. You're good enough. Best damn Keeper Ravenclaw's ever seen, with those long limbs of yours.”

Leo lifted his head to look him in the eye. “You're biased.”

“Absolutely.” Finn kissed him soundly. “I love you.”

Leo bit his lip around his smile. “Love you.” He nodded his head. “Look, here they are.”

Finn turned to find their friends walking towards them, the most nervous among them being Sirius, who was wringing his hands and biting his nails.

“Stop that,” Remus scolded. “You're going to make yourself bleed.”

“But Moony, this is the biggest day of my life!”

Remus raised his eyebrows. “Is it really, now?”

Sirius didn't even seem phased by his boyfriend's expression. “Yes.” He turned to Lily. “What if he doesn't make it?”

Lily shook her head nervously. “Don't even talk about that.”

Natalie laughed. “He'll probably never recover.”

“Nat.”

“Noelle thinks they've both got a good chance,” Thomas piped in with a dreamy look on his face. Noelle, Logan's older sister, was the new captain of the Harpies, and Thomas’ girlfriend. “If it helps.”

Sirius and Lily's expressions indicated that it didn't.

“Hello, party people!” Finn called with a wave. “How we feeling today?” He took one look at Lily’s face and winced. “Yeah, sorry I asked.”

Regulus and Cole, a friend of theirs in their year in Gryffindor, went to sit by Leo, who had laced the fingers of his opposite hand with Finn's. Lily and Sirius sat together, chattering nervously while Remus and Thomas looked on in amusement. Natalie plopped herself by Finn's side. “Hello, Freckle.”

“Hi, Nat,” he said, giving her a sideways hug. “How are things? How's my older brother?”

Natalie looked amused. “I thought you talked all the time.”

Finn rolled his eyes. “No. He spends way more time talking to you.”

“I should hope so.” She sighed, settling onto the bleachers. “He's good, both he and Kase. Been working on rehab with the Common Welsh Green they found injured a couple weeks back, and Kasey's got lots of shifts at Mungo's so they've been busy.” She shrugged with a smile. “But other than that, they've been good.”

“Good,” Finn said. “You know, my parents are still expecting you to come to County Kerry at some point after we graduate in May. They're so excited that my brother found two Scots instead of two English people.”

Natalie laughed. “Shitting on the English sounds like a great bonding experience.”

Finn raised his eyebrows. “Lo's from England.”

Natalie rolled her eyes. “He moved to Sheffield from Nice when he was eleven. He still sounds French when he speaks English. That boy doesn't count.” She narrowed her eyes. “If anything, a Frenchman is better because the English hate them.”

Finn laughed. “That's my Lolo.”

“Speaking of,” Natalie said. She plucked at his sign. “Really?”

Finn shrugged. “Leo's parents are Muggles and introduced Lo and I to football when we went to visit in Beddgelert over Easter. The fans carry signs in the crowd.” He waggled his eyebrows. “His mom also taught me Welsh swear words that people yell during the match.”

“You're a weird one, O'Hara.”

Finn felt a tug on his hand and immediately turned. Both Leo and Logan were shiny topics for Finn, instantly diverting his attention from any other happenings around him. He put on his most dazzling smile. “Yes, pretty sunshine baby?”

Leo rolled his eyes at Regulus’ gagging noises and jerked his head to the pitch. “They're starting.”

Finn sat up straighter, sucking in a breath. Sure enough, the players were all lined up, listening to instructions from a coach. Finn's leg started bouncing again and he squeezed Leo's hand tighter.

“Cariad,” Leo whispered. “It's going to be fine. He was asked to try out, they already think he's good.”

“I know,” Finn whispered, tapping his foot. “I’m still really nervous.”

Leo sighed, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “Rwy'n dy garu di. And we love him, too. It's going to be fine, Fish.”

Finn turned to look at him. “Diolch.”

It was worth it to see Leo's smile. “Look at you, catching on.”

“Wait until you hear the stuff your mom taught me.”

Leo snorted. “I don't want to know.”

They both turned back to the pitch to watch as the tryouts began.

O'Knutzy Household, May 2024

“Rouge?” Logan’s voice called out. “I'm home, mon coeur.”

“In the dining room!” Finn replied.

There were footsteps and then two arms came to wrap around his shoulders from behind, a chin resting on his head. “Salut.”

“Hi, baby,” Finn tilted his head and brought a hand up to cup Logan's jaw and give him a kiss. “Good practice?”

“Ouais, it was fine. Le still not home?”

Finn shook his head. “No, he's still proctoring the Advanced Potions exam until six. I just got home from my office, I was grading all day.”

Logan hummed. “Your head okay?”

“My brain feels like it's going to melt, but not too bad.”

Logan made a noise of dissent and scratched a hand through Finn's scalp. “C'est bien?”

Finn nodded, leaning into the touch. “Thanks, love.” He shook the photo. “Hey, look what I found.”

Logan peered down over his shoulder, one arm bracketing Finn's upper body as his hand came to rest on the dining room table. “Is that-?”

Finn kissed his cheek. “Your try-outs and signing day. I found this box in the closet.” He rubbed his thumb over their faces. “Look how young we were.”

Logan smiled into Finn's hair. “That sign was so stupid.”

“Nuh uh,” Finn protested. “You loved it.”

“Ouais, I did.” Logan sat down beside him, taking Finn's face in his hands. Finn leaned forward almost unintentionally, hooked on the way Logan held him. “You're still so beautiful. More than you were then.”

“Hey, I thought you loved eighteen year-old me.”

“Oui.” Logan swiped his thumb under Finn’s eye. “But now you're not so- scranny?”

“Scrawny, love.”

“Ouais, that's the one,” Logan said. He kissed Finn's temple softly. “You're not so scrawny anymore. And you get more beautiful every day.”

“Says the muscle man,” Finn said. He leaned forward and bit Logan’s shoulder. “What are Leo and I supposed to do, huh, with you walking around looking like you do?” He shucked up Logan’s shirt to get a hand on his abs. “This is for our eyes only.”

Logan smiled. “Ouais, all yours.” He looked back down at the photo. “Soleil was so tall, even then.”

“He's taller now, I swear. Sexy, tall sunshine baby.”

Logan laughed. “You're so weird.”

“You married this weirdness, love,” Finn said, waggling his ring finger. “No take backs.”

“Non, no take-backs.” He got a closer look at the photo. “How long ago was this? Almost ten years, non?”

“Nine. Year we graduated, baby, 2015.”

“Wow,” Logan said. “It does not feel that long ago.”

Finn grinned. “You know, that means we've been together almost ten years. This October.”

Logan's eyes crinkled around his smile. “You're right.” He sighed, resting his head against Finn's. “I remember that day.”

“Don't think any of us could forget it.”

Hogwarts Potions Classroom, 2014

Logan was just slightly embarrassed that he needed tutoring in Potions from someone the year below him. He just couldn't seem to make it click, and if he wanted to have any sort of backup plan to professional Quidditch he really needed to do well on his N.E.W.T.S. Potions, it seemed, was the one thing his brain just couldn't quite comprehend, not even some of the more basic brews, and he found himself grasping at straws every class.

Sirius wasn't much better, really, but he at least had his boyfriend, Remus, to help him through the hard ones (although Remus refused to partner with him in class, citing him as a ‘danger prone to explosives’ and only brewed with Lily). And James and Luke had both really helped him last year, but James had dropped Potions (“like bloody fuck am I following in my dad's footsteps now that he's got Regulus as his apprentice, thank Merlin”), and Luke had graduated. Finn was good at Potions, but not good enough to tutor, and was already busy tutoring kids in Transfiguration. Besides, Logan could barely handle seeing Finn every other free hour of the day without kissing him; extra tutoring might just push him over the edge. Thus, Logan had been left floundering and barely passing.

When Professor Dumais had suggested that Leo tutor him, Logan had been slightly embarrassed about the whole ordeal. Leo was nice, he liked Leo; he was friends with Sirius’ brother, Regulus, and had always been gentle and sweet and patient. He got along with Finn really well, too, and the three of them would study together, or he and Leo would talk about Quidditch plays while Finn pretended to know what was going on. Normally, Logan could handle that sort of friendly conversation, even if he tended to be shy. But he still spent his Potion sessions with Leo fumbling, red-faced, and a bit nervous.

Although, he guessed that only partially had to to with the embarrassment at having to be tutored.

“Logan,” Leo sighed exasperatedly. “Counterclockwise, mate.”

“Oh,” Logan said, looking at where his hand was definitely stirring clockwise. “Merde.”

Leo sighed again. “Iawn, let's go over that again. We'll have to dump this out.”

Logan huffed, frustrated. “Désolé, Leo.”

“It's okay. Let's just try it again.”

They remixed the Felix Felices, Logan adding the ingredients under Leo's watchful eye. When it came time to stir again, Logan did stir counter clockwise, but it still wasn't quite right.

“Slower,” Leo said. He watched Logan for a couple more seconds. “Slower. And don't flick your wrist so much, that'll disrupt it.”

“Quoi? I don't understand.”

“Here,” Leo said. He came up beside Logan and took his hand to guide him. “See? Now the ingredients can mix slowly and evenly, like with Muggle baking, yeah?”

Logan nodded, but he didn't understand. He couldn't even if he tried- he was too distracted. Leo's skin was warm against his own, his shoulder solid through his robes. His voice was so soothing in Logan's ear, chattering and intelligent and so patient, always so patient with him. Logan turned just barely and caught a glimpse of Leo's crystal blue eyes. The metal stirring stick in his hands suddenly felt too hot.

He jerked back, letting go and watching as the stick clattered against the side of the cauldron. A bit of potion spilled out and onto the floor, both of them jumping out of the way just in time.

Leo whirled on him, a slightly frustrated look on his face. “Logan- what? What is going on with you today?”

“I-I’m sorry.”

Leo shook his head. “I don't have to do this you know? Professor Dumais asked Regulus first, but he couldn't, so I offered, because I care about you and I want you to do well!”

“I know,” Logan said timidly. His chest was heaving.

“Then what is going on?” Leo was almost shouting now, and he took a step forward to look at Logan more squarely. “You spend every time, like- like, jumpy and nervous and I don't get it! Is it because…” His voice turned soft, his face suddenly pale. “Is it because I'm…?”

Logan's lips parted, a light breath escaping him. Leo didn't hide the fact he was gay. He'd dated a boy a little while back, Jack, a Slytherin. They'd broken up before the summer. Logan didn't know anything other than what Sirius knew through Regulus. I don't know, mate, Regulus just said he'd been ‘dealt with’. Not too sure I want to know what my little brother did, if I'm honest. But he wasn't too nice to Leo I'm assuming.

“No, Le,” Logan whispered. He had to look up to look Leo in the eye. “It's not cause you're gay.”

“Then what?”

Logan took a shaky breath. “It's because you're- it's because I'm-” Leo's eyebrows raised expectantly. Logan's heart was racing. “It's because you make me feel…”

“I make you feel what, Lo?”

Logan closed his eyes briefly at the way Leo's soft voice said his name. He leaned closer, taking in Leo’s eyes and full, wet lips. “It's because you make me feel-”

The door banged open. “Knock knock!” Finn strode through with his usual lively gate. “How is the potion- oh.”

Logan and Leo had jerked apart, Leo backing into the table behind him with a white-knuckle grip on the edge. His face was bright red and he was staring hard at the floor, biting his lip. Logan was stood stock-still, eyes flitting nervously between the other two boys. He knew what they had just done- or, almost had just done- was written all over their faces.

“Oh,” Finn said again. He looked shocked and a bit dejected. “I'm so sorry, I'll-” He turned towards the door. “I'll just be going-”

“No!” Leo outbursted. He looked surprised by his own words. “I mean, no, don't go. It- it's okay.”

Finn looked skeptically between them. “But you- you two were…”

“No,” Leo said, then shook his head quickly. “I mean, we didn't- we hadn't-” He let out a frustrated noise, grasping at his own hair. He looked to Logan. “Ffyc,” he said. He looked back to Finn, eyes pleading. “Oh, fucking hell.”

Then he strode across the room, took Finn's surprised face in his hands, and kissed him right on the mouth.

Logan watched as Finn stumbled back a moment, eyes wide. But Leo kept kissing him, a little desperately, and Finn made a soft noise and relaxed into it. One arm wrapped tightly around Leo's waist, the other reached up to grasp at Leo's hair with his fingers. Finn met Leo's urgency for a moment before they both gentled, kissing one another in long draws. Logan could barely breathe.

Eventually, they pulled away. Finn looked a bit shell-shocked, wide brown eyes staring at Leo for a moment before turning to Logan. He swallowed. “I…”

Leo smiled softly and leaned into to give him a barely-there kiss, Finn chasing his mouth for one more. Then, Leo released him and walked over to Logan, back to his shyer self. “Can I kiss you too?”

Logan nodded, not really trusting his words. Leo cupped his jaw in his large hands, leaning down. Logan gripped one of his wrists softly and stood on his tiptoes to meet him.

Their mouths met gently, so gently that Logan almost couldn't feel it. Leo's lips were soft and warm, and Logan heard himself make a noise before kissing Leo a bit harder. Leo kissed him back so purposefully that Logan had to reach out a hand to steady himself on Leo's body. He fell forward into Leo's chest as Leo traced his mouth with his tongue, Logan letting him in eagerly. Leo smiled into their kiss, working Logan's mouth gently with his own, and Logan felt like he was about to buzz out of his skin. He kissed Leo with a bit more pressure, eager to feel every part of him, when Leo abruptly broke away. Logan let out an involuntary whine as Leo kissed down his neck a few times. He gripped Leo's curls.

“I think someone else wants your attention,” Leo whispered hotly into Logan's ear.

Logan panted, barely having the strength to hold himself up as Leo pulled away. Leo winked at him- which should have been illegal, merde- before jerking his head to gesture beside him.

Logan turned to find Finn had crossed over to stand next to them, hip resting against one of the work benches. His arms were crossed, one of his hands reaching up to touch his thumb to his lip. He looked them both up and down once before making eye contact with Logan. He smiled, then walked over to press his hands to Logan's hips. Logan felt his breath catch. “Finn…”

Finn took that as his cue and bent his head to kiss Logan hard. Logan threaded a hand through those soft red waves and leant back onto the work bench behind him, whimpering when Finn scraped his teeth over Logan's bottom lip. God, both of them kissed so well it made Logan dizzy.

After a few moments, Logan felt a hot mouth on his neck and Leo's breath in his ear. He let out another sound and grasped for something with his free hand, Leo lacing their fingers together. His other hand covered Finn's on Logan's waist, providing leverage to suck on the skin just below Logan's jaw.

Finn smiled into a last kiss, then he, too, began to press his lips to Logan's jaw and neck. Logan lolled his head back, leaning into both of them.

Suddenly, he felt Leo giggle against his skin and pull away. He opened his eyes to find Leo looking at the two of them, hand pressed to his flushed cheek and smiling widely. Finn pulled away, too, taking one look at Leo and joining him in his laughter, his freckles scrunching up around his cheeks and nose. Logan grinned a bit stupidly, flushed with sheepishness.

“What the fuck?” Finn laughed. He took Leo's face in his hands. “Leo, what the fuck?”

“I don't know,” Leo giggled. It sounded like sunshine. “I don't know, I'm being so honest.”

That set them all off again, and soon Logan's sides hurt from his belly shaking. Finn's laugh was loud and barking, and he slumped against Leo's body. Logan liked how they looked together.

“Holy shit. Holy shit, Le,” Finn said. He looked up. “Where did that come from?”

Leo shrugged, amused. “Was tired of waiting, I guess.” He snorted. “Plus, it seemed like the easiest way to explain the situation without having you running.”

Finn raised an eyebrow. “And how did you know I wouldn't run if you kissed me?”

Leo's looked him up and down, smiling when Finn's ears turned red. “Just a feeling.” He reached a hand out to Logan and pulled him towards them. “You okay, Lo?”

Logan sank into the hand on his waist. “Ouais,” he said. He stood on his toes to kiss Leo's cheek and smiled at the both of them. “I think I'd like to take you on a date.”

Their answering smiles were blinding.

O'Knutzy Household, May 2024

Finn pressed a kiss to Logan's temple. “Le was so brave that day.”

“Ouais,” Logan said. “He's so brave all the time.”

“Mm.” The sound of their door opening reverberated around the room. “Speak of the devil.” He turned his head. “Le! In here!”

Leo's blonde head peeked around the doorway. He smiled. “Hi.” He came and gave each of them a kiss. “How are we?”

“Good,” Logan said against his mouth. “Fish found some photos.”

Leo's eyes were twinkly. He sat down on Finn's other side. “Oh yeah? Let's see, then.”

Finn leaned over to show him. “Lo's try-outs and signing day.”

Leo smiled. “Oh, I remember that.” He caught Logan's eye. “We were so proud of you.”

Logan blushed and looked up at him through his thick eyelashes. “Merci.” He reached around to drape Finn's arm over his shoulders. “We were talking. It's been almost ten years since we got together.”

Leo laughed. “Oh, God.”

Finn scoffed. “What's that tone for?”

Leo waved him off. “Nothing, I just- the memory makes me laugh, is all.”

“Why?”

“I don't know, it just…” Leo rolled his eyes at himself. “I was kind of silly.”

Logan looked amused. “Non, you weren't silly.” He took Leo's hand and kissed it. “You were very brave.”

“Yeah,” Finn agreed. He nuzzled Leo's cheek. “You brave little youngster, you.”

“Ugh, don't remind me.” Leo wiped his hand over his face. “I felt so stupid, being a pining sixteen year-old.”

“Not stupid,” Finn retorted. “And besides, we were the silly-stupid ones.” He bit at Leo's jaw. “We were so whiny that year we spent apart waiting for you to graduate.”

Leo looked amused. “You were?”

“Oui,” Logan said, standing up. He scooted Leo's chair back and flopped down into his lap. He tucked his face into Leo's neck. “We would just count down the minutes until our next mirror call.”

Leo stroked up at down Logan's back. “You're sweet.”

“No, you are,” Finn said with a kiss to Leo's cheek. “We were more excited for you to graduate than you were.”

Hogwarts Grounds, May 2016

Leo checked his watch, magically protected against the wards of Hogwarts, and bit his lip. Ten minutes until the ceremony. He could do this, he could totally do this. He'd already taken his exams, he had already done well- all that there was left to do was to walk across that stage and shake his professors’ hands.

“You look like you're about to faint.”

Leo turned to look at Regulus, who had an eyebrow raised cooly, Cole beside him. “Huh?”

“I said, you look like you're about to faint.”

“Real helpful of you, cheers.”

“You'll be fine, Leo,” Cole said. He shrugged. “Besides, all you gotta do is walk across the stage.”

“But what if my parents don't arrive okay? Or what if I trip? Oh God, there are Ministry people here, if they see me trip, I'll never get a job-”

“Fucking hell,” Regulus said. He took Leo's shoulders in his hands and looked him squarely in the eye. “Leo, you're the third best in our class.”

“Yeah, behind you. And Layla.”

Regulus shrugged. “Can't beat perfection.” When Leo glared at him, he sighed. “Seriously, Le, you've done really well. Anybody will be happy to take you. And I'm sure your parents got here fine, I asked mum and dad to help them. Monty and Effie are angels, they definitely took good care of them.” He shook Leo gently. “And most importantly, those boyfriends of yours that you can't stop waxing poetic about will be here. If you do fall, Finn will go help you up, and if anybody says anything bad about you Logan will glare at them so hard they'll turn to ash, okay? Fucking guard dog, that one.”

Leo smiled dreamily. “Yeah.”

Regulus flinched and curled his lip. “Oh, God. Bleh. You three are disgusting.”

“I think they're cute,” Cole piped up.

“Yes, yes, very,” Regulus said drily. He threw an arm around each of their shoulders, all three clad in their nice robes and school ties hanging off their necks. “Let's go hand over the last bit of youthful freedom the world has provided for our aching hearts and harrowed souls.”

“Oh, Christ, not yet,” Cole groaned. “You read way to many philosophical Muggle books.”

“They're the most intellectual of company.”

Leo laughed. “Quit talking like a posho, you Victorian wannabe. Let's go graduate.”

The actual ceremony space wasn't all that extravagant. There was a raised platform with chairs for the graduates on one side, professors on the other, and a lecturn for the speeches. Leo,  Layla, and Regulus, top three in their class, and Cole, Head Boy, Gryffindor Quidditch Captain, winner of the House Cup (much to Leo's chagrin), and future Harpies Beater, were sat all together in the first row. Leo immediately spotted his parents, sat with Effie and Monty. Beside them were Sirius, Remus, Lily, and James, all in attendance to support Regulus. James and Sirius each let out a whoop, which made Regulus’ mouth quirk (though he'd never admit it). Leo smiled, heart beating faster as his eyes moved down the row, looking for-

There. Right at the end of the row of chairs sat Finn and Logan, all fancy-looking in their nice slacks and button down shirts. Ever since Leo's parents had taken them charity shopping, they preferred to wear Muggle clothes instead of wizard robes. Logan pursed his lips and blew Leo a kiss, which surprised a laugh out of him, and Finn sent him a signature wink and a wiggle of his fingers. Leo blushed, wiggled his fingers back, and turned to pay attention to Headmistress McConagall’s opening words.

There were a few general speeches after that. Regulus, as first in their class, gave one (Leo swore he saw Sirius and the Potters crying), as well as Layla, who was one of the most intelligent people Leo had ever met and Cole’s crush since fourth year (no matter how much he insisted it wasn’t like that). They stood to sing the school song, then each walked across the stage to receive their diplomas and transcripts. Regulus went first, garnering huge cheers from his brother and their friends and family, to which he rolled his eyes, but smiled. Layla went next, also to lots of clapping and cheers (one of the loudest of which from Lily, who she was going to work with at St. Mungo’s), and then Leo went. He shook the Headmistress’ hand, then a few other professors’. The last one he came to was Professor Dumais.

“Congratulations, Leo,” he said in his heavy French accent and with his signature smile. “You’ve done really well. One of the best students I’ve had the pleasure of teaching.”

Leo blushed. “Really?”

Professor Dumais nodded. “Really.” He brought Leo closer to whisper into his ear. “I’m going to be leaving this place in a few years, to spend some more time with Celeste and the kids. The position is yours if you want it, oui? I'll put in a good word.”

Leo pulled back, shocked. “But, sir, I've got to do an apprenticeship, and-”

Professor Dumais winked. “I think you'll find that all sorted. I wrote a recommendation on your behalf.” He winked. “Ms. Meadowes is excited to work with you.”

Leo gulped. Dorcas Meadowes was one of the most renowned Potions Masters in the field. She was young, only a few years older than Leo, incredibly intelligent, and very selective with who she hired. Leo used to dream of working with her.

“Thank you,” he gasped out. “Thank you, sir.”

Professor Dumais patted him on the back and sent him on his way.

After that, there was a farewell speech by the Headmistress, then a congratulations. When they were officially announced as graduates, there was a big yell and a standing ovation. Leo brought Cole and Regulus into an excited hug. He and Cole were both shouting. Regulus even let out an amused laugh, which was basically as excited as he ever got, and so Leo ruffled his hair.

Finally, they were let off the stage, and Leo soon found himself in a tight hug from his mother.

“Oh, my boy,” she said in Welsh. “We are so proud of you!”

Leo squeezed her tightly, turning his face into her blonde curls. His dad patted his back, kissing the side of his head. “Well done, Le. Congratulations.”

Leo leaned into his parents again before letting his mother go. “Mum, have you seen-?”

She cupped his face. “They're  around here somewhere, darling. Last I saw, Finn was taking pictures of Regulus and Sirius with that Muggle camera we got him.”

Leo shook his head fondly. “He's obsessed with that thing.”

“Oh, they're both such loves” she said. She patted his cheek. “Off you go, cariad. I'm going to find Effie, she's got a new roast recipe for me.”

Leo waved his parents off with a smile, using his height to peer over the crowd. He found them before they found him, and he took a moment to gaze smittenly. Finn had one hand clasped in Logan's, the other holding a small digital camera Leo's parents had gotten him for Christmas. He admired Logan's shoulders, visibly strong even through his button down, and the way Finn's red waves turned slightly golden in the sun. Logan saw him first, eyes lighting up, and tugged at Finn's hand. Rouge, Leo saw him say.

Leo bit his lip around his smile. Hi, he mouthed.

Logan let go of Finn's hand and was off, walking quickly through the crowd of people. When he broke through the last person, he broke off into a light jog. He and Leo laughed at each other as Logan threw his arms around Leo's neck, jumping to wrap his legs around his waist. Leo held him tight to his body.

“Hi, honey,” he laughed. “Hi.”

He felt Finn crash into them a moment later, and moved one hand to boost Logan under his thigh and used the other to draw Finn to his side. Finn's smile filled his vision right up until he kissed him, hard and a bit sloppy for being in public.

“Hi, sunshine,” Finn said as he pulled away. “Oh, how we missed you. We missed you, baby. Oh-” He broke himself off by kissing Leo again, grinning hard.

“Missed you, too, cariad,” Leo sighed, letting Finn tuck his face into his neck. “Missed you so much.”

Logan finally pulled back, gripping Leo's hair. He was grinning so hard his nose was scrunching. Leo couldn't believe how green his eyes were. “Soleil.”

“Hi.” Leo nuzzled their noses, then let Logan kiss him deeply. His tongue traced Leo's bottom lip, and Leo made a soft noise before pulling back. “My parents are here, Lo.”

“I don't care,” Logan said, kissing Leo again. He sighed into Leo's mouth. “Je t'aime.”

“I love you,” Leo said. He boosted Logan up and pressed a hand to the side of Finn's head where he was resting it on Leo's shoulder. “I love you both so much.”

“Love you,” Finn said. He breathed in deeply and closed his eyes. “It's so nice to say that to you in person.”

Leo tweaked his ear. “What, you don't love mirror dates?”

“Non,” Logan said defiantly. He'd taken up residence in the crook of Leo's neck again. “Take you on a real date.”

Leo shared a fond look with Finn. “Sounds good to me.” His eyes widended excitedly. “Hey, wait until I tell you what Professor Dumais said.”

O'Knutzy Household, May 2024

“We didn't know what was coming for us, huh?” Leo said. He kissed Logan's shoulder. “You with your Quidditch, Finn and I in our apprenticeships.” He sighed. “Who would've thought, you know?”

Finn rested his head on Leo's unoccupied shoulder. “I don't know. I think our past selves would have liked this life of ours.”

Leo turned to look at him. His eyes were blue and soft in the warm dining room light. “Yeah?”

Finn smiled, tracing Leo's jaw with a finger. “Yeah.” He kissed Leo's forehead gently. “I sure know I would. All that was important to younger me was you two.”

Leo snorted, jostling Logan's body on top of him. “That's not true.”

Finn nuzzled his cheek. “No, it's not. But it was the most important thing out of all the important things.”

“Ouais,” Logan said, finally rousing himself from Leo's neck. He looked a bit sleepy. “The most important thing.”

Leo kissed him lightly. “You look tired, cariad. How about I go heat up some leftover curry, okay? Then we snuggle and go to bed.”

Logan nodded. “Mm hm. Sounds good.”

With a last lingering kiss to Logan's lips, Leo shifted so Logan could climb into Finn's lap. Leo then kissed Finn's forehead and went through to the kitchen, humming softly to himself. Finn rubbed Logan's back.

“Rouge?”

“Yeah, baby?”

“Can we look at more photos in bed?”

Finn smiled into Logan's neck. “Whatever you want, baby.”

“Mm,” Logan hummed. He took a breath. “I'm glad soleil was so brave that day.”

Finn closed his eyes and breathed in. Logan smelled like himself and Leo. Finn wanted to fall asleep to that scent forever. “Me, too, baby. Me too.”

Omg such a huge massive fan of ur writing!! I find myself coming back to your page every so often just to make sure I haven’t missed an update from you!

I’ve been experiencing some serious academia-based burnout lately and just found that I’ve really been neglecting my mental and social health lately and just been bad at overall taking care of myself.

I’d love it if you could write the cubs in this type of scenario going through something similar, and finally getting the support they need (though they try to resist at first fs). Usually Leo is my ultimate comfort character, but maybe this one would be slightly more impactful if it was Finn-based. He’s typically the most social of them all and can def relate to the academia burnout aspect of it, I imagine. It’s totally up to ur discretion - however you choose to write it, if it’s a prompt that appeals to you! I’d read anything you write ☺️

I think academic burnout is kicking us all in the ass right now, at least a little bit. Hope you got some rest, friend, and that all your exams and assignments went well! Make sure to drink lots of water and eat well, pretty please. :)

Have some Finn DEFINITELY not following those instructions. O'Haras give 110% all the time to a fault, so sometimes they need a little TLC, it seems. Luckily, Finn has one husband who is a GREAT chef and loves to feed him yummy things and another husband who loves to distract him from school work, ever since they went to Harvard together.

“Finn?” Leo called as he opened the door to their apartment. When nobody answered, he furrowed his eyebrows and toed off his shoes. “Finn?”

Still no response. Leo chewed on his cheek and thought for a moment. Maybe he was napping.

He poked his head through their bedroom door, but there was still no sign of Finn. The bed was perfectly made from this morning, the corners tucked in nice and neat like Leo liked. Finn’s book was on the bedside table, untouched. Leo felt an anxious feeling rise up in his throat.

“Finn!” he called again. The bathroom door was open, and there was nobody. He went to look in his old bedroom, now their home office. “Finn- oh.”

There he was, hunched over his computer and scribbling on a notepad. His hair was a bit messy, as if he had been tugging on it, and Leo could hear the music coming from his headphones, it was so loud. He was muttering to himself and tapping his foot. Two coffee mugs were pushed to the side.

“Oh, honey,” Leo sighed. He approached cautiously and tapped on Finn’s shoulder. “Sweetheart.”

Finn whipped around, eyes wide in confusion before they settled on Leo. He took off his headphones and offered a smile that was strained at the edges. There were purple circles under his eyes. “Oh. Hey, baby.”

“Hi.” Leo leaned down to kiss him softly. “What are you doing?”

“Finishing this paper,” Finn said, swiveling his chair back around to face his computer. “I’ve gotta get it done before practice tomorrow. And I’m doing my bibliography, but I can’t find one of the sources I used, I’m sure I had it downloaded, and I-”

“Baby,” Leo whispered. He massaged Finn’s shoulders, not missing the way he leaned back into it. “I think you should take a break.”

“No, Le, it’s fine, really, I-”

“Finn,” Leo interrupted, a bit more sternly. “You’ve spent every free second in here and writing, it’s not good for you. You’re exhausted, honey.”

Finn looked like he wanted to protest, but he didn’t say anything. He let out a defeated sigh and rubbed his eyes. “My eyes hurt.”

“It’s because you’ve been sitting in front of the computer for so long.” Leo kissed his temple. “I’ve barely seen you in days.”

Finn bit his lip nervously. His hands were fidgeting with his hoodie strings. “I’m sorry. I’ve been a bad husband lately.”

“No, you haven’t.” Leo spun him around in his chair and knelt on the floor. He ran his hands up Finn’s strong thighs and rubbed gently. “You’ve just been busy. Too busy. It’s not good for you.”

Finn’s eyes were anxious when they met Leo’s own. “I don’t- this was such a stupid idea. Studying while playing hockey.”

“No.” Leo shook his head and cupped Finn’s cheeks. “It’s not stupid. Lo and I think you’re so smart, honey.”

That got Finn to smile a little. “Yeah?”

“Of course.” Leo took his left hand and kissed over his rings. “We also think that you’ve been spreading yourself too thin. You want every essay and piece of work to be perfect, Finn, and it’s wearing you down.”

“I know,” Finn said softly, nervously. He reached down to play with some of the curls by Leo’s forehead. “I don’t know how to- I don’t know, not give one hundred percent into something.”

Leo laughed. “I think that’s an O’Hara thing.”

Finn laughed with him. “Yeah. Yeah, probably.” He peeked out at Leo through his lashes. “Can you read over my essay, please?”

“Of course.” Leo used Finn’s thighs as leverage to stand and then bent down to give him a kiss. “Here,” he said, coaxing Finn into standing, too, then sitting him down on the futon they’d put in there. He took out his phone and handed it to him. “You call Lo and we can talk to him for a little bit. I’ll read over your essay and finish your bibliography, okay?”

“‘Kay,” Finn replied, opening Leo’s phone. “The source list is in my notebook.”

Leo sat down at the desk and shook his head fondly. “Why don’t you just immediately cite your sources when you use them? It’d save you this whole process.”

“Because the thought of doing that is just too much, and it’s so boring.”

Leo clucked his tongue. “Well, you’re lucky I love you.” He went into Finn’s files and snorted when he found an article title to match a note in Finn’s notebook. “And I found the source you were looking for.”

“What? Where?”

“In your files, honey.”

“What? I looked over that a gazillion-” He cut off, then made a happy sound. “Hey, sweet thing.”

“Salut,” came Logan’s soft voice. “Ça va? Where’s Le?”

“Here!” Leo called, fingers flying over the keyboard. “Finishing Finn’s bibliography.”

Logan let out a sigh. “Mon rouge, you always do this. You always wait until the last minute to cite your sources.”

“That’s what I said!”

“Hey,” Finn pouted. “This is not ‘chastise Finn time’. I am a burnt out boy.”

“Oh, I’m sorry.” Leo stood and crossed over to Finn, leaning down to kiss him on the lips softly a few times. “So sorry, sweetheart.” He wrapped an arm around Finn’s shoulders to draw his head to rest against his chest and looked down at the phone with a smile. “Hi, Lo.”

“Salut,” Logan said again. He had a cup of tea in his hands and his sweatshirt hood was pulled over his waves. “How are you?”

“Good.” He kissed Finn’s forehead. “We’re feeling a little tired from schoolwork right now, so we’re gonna take a break.” He looked down at Finn pointedly. “And then make a schedule so we don’t run ourselves to the ground.”

Finn put on an innocent smile. “Oops.”

“Rouge,” Logan sighed. “Are you okay?”

Finn nodded, but he was cut off by a big yawn. “I’m better. Like seeing your face.” He winced and looked up at Leo again. “And yours. Sorry, I haven’t been around much.”

“It’s okay.” Leo kissed his temple again then went back to the desk. He sat down with a heavy sigh. “Jesus, Finn, these are a lot of sources.”

“I’m thorough.”

“You’re something, all right.” Leo ran his finger down the list in Finn’s notebook. “Gimme fifteen minutes, then I’ll read it over for you. Then I’ll make us dinner. I’m thinking bolognese.”

A groan sounded from the telephone. “I miss your bolognese.”

Leo smiled even as he typed. “Don’t worry, sweetheart, I’ll make it when you come up next week.”

“That’s right,” Finn said, a little more jovial now. “We get to play our biggest Frenchie rival next week. I’m very excited to pin you against the boards.”

“Fish,” Logan laughed.

“I’ll pin you against other things, too, don’t worry,” Finn reassured. He let out a soft sigh. Leo could imagine the fond tilt of his head. “Can’t wait to hold you.”

“Moi aussi, mon mari. Me, too.”

Finn and Logan chatted for a while, Leo piping in every now and then. Eventually, Finn decided that the futon was too far and came to stand behind Leo and drape his arms over his shoulders. They propped Logan up on the desk against one of the used mugs. Leo was mostly focused on the essay in front of him, but he leaned into the soft kisses Finn periodically pressed to his face and neck, calmed by the feeling of his warm skin and Logan’s deep voice.

“‘Kay,” he said after a while. “All done.” He turned slightly to look Finn in the eye and smiled. “It’s good. It’s really good, honey.”

Finn tapped his hands rhythmically against Leo’s chest. “You sure?”

“Positive.” Leo leaned up to kiss him and there was the clicking sound of a screenshot. He laughed and pulled away. “Logan, honey, you have a million of those. Your phone will run out of storage.”

“Ouais, I don’t care.” Logan let out a satisfied sound. “I love them. I love you.”

“Love you, baby,” Finn said back. He kissed Leo’s forehead. “And I love you, sunshine. Thanks for helping.”

“Always.” Leo saved Finn’s essay and shut down the computer. “You can read it one more time tomorrow with fresh eyes, but then you’re turning it in, deal?”

Finn wrapped his arms around Leo as he stood. “Deal.” He gave Leo one last kiss and picked up the phone. “C’mon, Lo, baby, we can go help Leo make dinner.”

“Ouais, I want to watch his back.”

Leo snorted. “You always want to watch my back.”

“Because I love it.”

“Yeah,” Finn agreed as they made their way into the kitchen. “You’ve got a sexy back, sunshine, it’s not our fault we can’t keep our eyes off of you.”

Leo smiled at him as he took ground beef out of the fridge. “No?”

“No. All of our brain cells leave when we see your back.” Finn settled Logan on the counter and leaned the phone against the napkin holder. “Can you see?”

“Ouais. Can you ask Leo to take his shirt off?”

“No!” Leo laughed. “That’s how I burn myself. You always ask this, and it’s the same answer every time.”

“Damn,” Finn said defeatedly. He turned to Logan and shrugged. “At least we tried, baby.”

“Okay.” Leo clapped his hands and turned to cup Finn’s hips. “Sit, honey, I want you to relax. You want some tea? A snack?”

Finn’s smile turned soft. “I can make myself tea, peanut butter.”

Leo shook his head. “No, I’ll do it. You’ve had a tough day.” He kissed Finn’s nose. “Let me take care of you.”

Finn feigned a sigh. “I guess I can let my blonde bombshell hottie take care of me.”

Leo rolled his eyes. “Go,” he said with another kiss. “Go, sit and talk with Lo. I’ll make you tea, then dinner. Then we can snuggle, ‘kay?”

“M’kay.” Finn wrapped him in a hug. “I love you.”

Leo tucked his face into Finn’s neck. “Love you.” He tapped Finn’s hip and pulled away. “Now, go, please.”

Finn obliged, picking up the phone and going to sit at one of the stools on the other side of the counter, swinging his legs happily as he began to talk to Logan again. It made Leo warm inside to see him so relaxed and willing to accept some care. It was hard for Finn, not being able to just fix things and do things for everyone around him. But Logan was a good distraction, always willing to just sit and listen to Finn ramble on about whatever thought was running through his beautiful, beautiful brain. Leo set his cup of tea in front of him with a kiss to his cheek, then went back to preparing the sauce. He was stirring it on the stove and waiting for water to boil for the pasta when the chatter behind him abruptly stopped. He turned around to find Finn watching him and pointing the camera of the phone at him. He smiled, confused. “What?”

Finn shook his head. “Nothing,” he said with a grin. He winked. “Just watching your back.”

Leo let his head fall back, his cheeks warming. “Shut up.” He set the spoon he was holding down on its spoon rest and went to stand behind Finn, wrapping his arms around him. The camera was flipped back so Logan could see them. Leo kissed the top of Finn’s head and peeked out at the phone screen to meet Logan’s gentle eyes. “Love you.”

Logan smiled. “Je t’aime, soleil.”

Finn leaned to the side so he could kiss Leo’s cheek. “Love you, baby. Thank you.”

Leo just traced the purple under Finn’s eyes gently. “You’re welcome, our little scholar.” He pressed their foreheads together. “You’re going to be such a good teacher.”

And when their smiles were pressed together and there was another sound of a screenshot, they pulled back, laughing, to look at Logan, who was smiling proudly at them through the screen. Leo let the warm feeling fill him up for a moment before kissing Finn again and going back to the stove, blushing at the wolf whistle Finn did at his back. He knew that Finn would sleep heavily tonight, and that the stress of his Master’s wouldn’t go away in just a day. But they could manage it. And then one day, in the near future, Leo would kiss him goodbye in the doorway as he went off to school in those slacks and button downs that were currently in his closet, his glasses perched on his gorgeous nose, and, most importantly, the rose-gold bands on his fingers and around his neck. And maybe, if they played their cards right and negotiated, Logan would be there to kiss him goodbye, too.

Leo let out a content sigh at the thought and dumped the pasta in the water.

Sometimes long distance is about the little things. And sometimes it's about the big things. But it's ALWAYS about showing up in any way you can when your partners, or partner, need you. Have some angsty, fluffy, and in-love long-distance boys. All credits to @lumosinlove :)

Leo had had a bad day, and just needed something to make him feel better. Actually, it had been a bad week, or two, if he was being honest with himself. The days were short, in December, and every day he woke up to darkness and left the rink looking at the stars. Logan loved it, the cold, the obscurity, the significant lack of thunderstorms- but Logan was in New York, not here where Leo and Finn wanted him. They had barely been able to fit in a visit two weeks ago during the Thanksgiving holidays, and they wouldn’t get a chance before Christmas, which would still only be for a few days. They had played the Rangers in October and weren’t playing them again until mid-February, and it was in these cold moments, especially, that Leo felt Logan’s absence acutely, that he missed his New Orleans house more and more with each passing day of snow and little light.

He was standing at the stove, making some butternut squash soup. Not exactly on the preapproved meal plan, and it definitely didn’t have enough protein for professional athletes, but it was warm and aromatic, and he had just put some homemade sourdough bread in the oven to bake for the second time out of its Dutch oven. He had scored it with a little design, the classic line down the middle and the leaf pattern, but also with three little birds, like sketched seagulls, in the top left corner. Leo guessed that his longing even translated into his cooking.

Finn came out of the bedroom just then, walking to the door to put his shoes on. He always looked so good in the winter, with his long buttoned coats and dark pants, boots, scarf, and beanie. More often than not, too, he wore his glasses in the winter. He looked so cozy, and so gorgeous all the time it was sometimes difficult for Logan and Leo to concentrate when they went out into the city together. Now, he was also bearing a little bit of winter scruff, just a day or so worth, and if Leo hadn’t been so tired and sad, he would have asked him to dance in the kitchen just to be close to him for a little while under the soft lights.

Patting his pockets for his belongings, Finn looked up at him. “I’m going to the pharmacy, sunshine, gotta pick up some more tape for my thigh. Can’t go running without it, Layla said, after last game’s strain.” He walked over, putting his arms around Leo’s waist. “Need anything while I’m out, baby?

Leo just shook his head, biting his lip and looking to the soup he was stirring on the stove.

Finn looked at him with a furrowed brow. His voice was hesitant but gentle when he spoke. “Peanut, what’s wrong? You’ve been… upset lately.”

Leo lifted his gaze as Finn reached a hand to cup his neck. “Just sad, I guess. It’s dark, and it’s cold, and I miss my parent’s house, and I… I really miss Logan.”

Finn’s shoulders sagged and he looked at Leo sympathetically. “I know, baby. God, I know it’s hard.” He let out a sharp breath. “And I know it doesn’t help to say that we’ll see him in a few weeks when he’s not waking up in our bed every other day.” He kissed Leo. “How about you finish your soup, yeah? Lo said he has a late practice, but we can call him after and cuddle in bed. I’ll read to you both, how does that sound?”

Leo nodded, trying to be strong, but his voice came out small. “Yeah. Yeah, okay.”

Finn just drew him in. “Oh, baby.” He kissed Leo’s forehead firmly. “You want me to stay? I don’t have to go to the pharmacy, I can go without running tomorrow.”

Leo shook his head. “No, no, go. I’ll be okay for a bit. Just…” Leo glanced down at him. “Hurry back?”

Finn nodded and kissed him firmly, then softly, holding Leo there by his cheeks. “I love you, Le, baby. So does Lo.”

“Love you,” Leo said. “I love you.”

With one last kiss, Finn pulled away and opened the door. As he closed it behind him, he kissed his fingers and flashed them at Leo. Leo felt his mouth tug to the side, but as soon as the click of the lock sounded, he sighed and turned back his soup. The timer went off for the bread, and after determining the crust good enough, he put it on a rack to cool for a bit before he would slice it and toast it for their dinner. Then, he set about cleaning up what he could of the kitchen before Finn got home, turning on the kettle to make a cup of tea.

As he stood at the counter, closer to the residual warmth of the slowly cooling stove, sipping his mint tea, his eye caught on the picture frames by the door. The largest was of them in the locker room after the Stanley Cup win with the Lions, Finn kissing Leo’s cheek as Logan and Leo looked at each other. Logan had his arms wrapped around Leo’s waist, backwards champion hat on his head keeping his long hair out of his face. He was smiling so widely at Leo, having said something to make Leo blush and Finn coo, leaning in to wetly press his lips Leo’s skin just as someone had clicked the camera. Leo remembered feeling invincible in that moment. He had proven himself, his first NHL season, but more than that he was so high on being in love with his two boys that it had overshadowed their Cup victory. He knew he wouldn’t have felt that happy to win if Logan and Finn hadn’t been right beside him.

Below that photo, though, there was a newer one, taken on their most recent trip to Nice, to Logan’s mother’s childhood home that she shared with her brother. It was of the three of them on the beach. Thomas and Noelle had been staying at the same time, and had suggested going down to the ocean for sunset in the boiling French evening. Never one to turn down the opportunity to see his boys by the water, Logan had gifted them new swimsuits with a sly little grin on his face. They had been almost two small to wear in public, Leo had thought, but Thomas had taken one look at the three of them, wolf whistled, said something about inseam length, and that had sealed their fate.

They had gone to the beach in their new swimsuits, definitely drawing eyes. One particular group of girls had really gotten along with Finn, which had definitely made Logan prickly; but what had actually made him snap was a tall, dark, and handsome French man coming to flirt with Leo while he and Finn had been reading on their towels. Logan, having just gotten back with Noelle and Thomas from finding some fruity, alcoholic drink, had seen the man looking Leo’s sun-tanned body up and down and immediately given his drink to Thomas to hold. Rushing over, he gave the man a glare and plopped himself right down on Leo’s lap, grabbing his shoulders and kissing him deeply. When he pulled away after an indecent amount of time, the man was gone and Finn was laughing beside them. Logan had just scowled, pulling him in to be kissed hard as well.

In that moment, Leo had watched them, in the light that was just beginning to set over the Mediterranean, and thought how he had probably seen nothing more beautiful. Finn had pulled away laughing, pinching Logan’s side and making him smirk, then smile sheepishly with a blush. With a shout from Noelle, they’d all turned, Logan moving slightly sideways in Leo’s lap and Finn’s head resting on Leo’s shoulder, to smile for the camera. That was the last time Leo had remembered feeling truly warm before coming back to not only play ice hockey again, but to see Logan off to New York for another season.

He didn’t know how much time he had spent staring at the photographs, but his tea had gone cold in his hands. Sighing, he put the kettle on to boil more water, even if only to pour into a mug to hold. He checked his watch. Finn had been gone for a long time, longer than a trip to the pharmacy required. He tapped at his phone screen, but there were no new messages. He supposed Finn had just gone to another store, maybe to get some more dirt for their windowsill garden. They were running out of soil.

Just as he was pouring his second mug of tea, the sound of keys scratching at the door reverberated through the apartment. Leo closed his eyes and sighed, grateful for the time alone, but desperately wanting to collapse into Finn’s arms. He would understand the ache Leo felt in Logan’s absence more than anyone.

He was just finishing adding honey to his tea, about to turn to the stove again to heat up the soup for dinner, when footsteps echoed as they walked through the door.

“Bonjour, soleil.”

Leo’s head snapped up. There, standing in front of him, was Logan, smiling widely. He had one of his hand’s laced with Finn’s, who was also grinning at Leo and carrying Logan’s bag, and was dressed in one of Leo’s sweatshirts and Adidas pants. He looked a bit tired, a Rangers hat on his head to tame what were undoubtedly his wild mid-season waves. Leo thought he’d never looked more gorgeous, waiting for him with Finn in the light of their apartment. “Oh.”

Logan took a step forward, and that was all it took for Leo to meet him the rest of the way, arms wrapping hard around his waist to lift him up. Logan’s legs were clutching his hips hard, arms encircling his neck and hands cradling the back of his head. When Leo had regained some of his sense he realized he was crying, making the edge of Logan’s sweatshirt- his sweatshirt- wet and salty. He knocked Logan’s hat off of his hat, hearing it hit the floor, and threaded one hand through his hair, the other underneath his thigh. Finn had come up and put a hand on each of their backs. “Surprise, nutter butter.”

Leo inhaled Logan’s scent and leaned back. “I mean- how… you had practice? And your car, did you drive here? The snow, Lo, you guys just got quite a bit the other day-”

Logan just shook his head, smiling at him. He tugged Leo’s hair a little to bring their mouths together, and Leo instantly relaxed. The tension left his body, and he let Logan’s fire, always bubbling, completely consume him for a few moments. Logan was warm, Finn’s hands on his back were warm, and he finally felt so warm he didn’t know what to do. His kisses grew desperate, trying to make up for lost time, and he felt Finn’s mouth on his shoulder, probably watching them together with his gorgeous brown eyes. Leo loved them endlessly.

Eventually, their kisses grew softer, Logan pulling away with a few more light pecks. “Oh, soleil, j’taime. I missed you, mon couer.”

“I- I missed you, too, sweetheart. I love you.” He jerked his head a little bit, mouth parting. “But how- what about practice?”

Finn laughed at Leo’s lingering confusion, and Logan just leaned in to kiss him again, smiling into it. “Non, no practice. I never had practice.” He looked up at Leo through his dark lashes. “And my car’s in for inspection, so I flew.” His eyes turned somber. “Finn said you’ve been sad.”

Leo looked at Finn, who was staring at him, maybe a little guiltily. Leo just kissed his forehead and then touch their temples together. “Yeah, yeah I’ve been sad. It’s just been-” He could feel himself starting to cry again. “It’s just been the cold, and the darkness, and missing my parent’s house, and- and missing you.” Leo took a shuddering breath in. “I really, really missed you sweetheart.”

Finn’s arm squeezed around his waist, and Logan made a small noise in the back of his throat and tightened his limbs around Leo's body. “Ouais, I missed you to, soleil. Missed you both.” He leaned towards Finn for a light kiss, then placed one on Leo’s mouth, too. “Finn told me, and I figured I could surprise you. We have a couple days off after our roadie, and I’d rather be here with you than in my apartment.” He looked up at him, green eyes searching. “Une bonne surprise?”

Leo smiled at him and closed his eyes as Logan leaned their foreheads together. “Ouais. The best.”

“Oo-ways.”

Logan and Leo laughed at Finn, Logan drawing him in for a few sloppy kisses. “Oh, mon rouge. Ton français est terrible.”

Finn winked, kissed him again, then kissed Leo firmly. “Happier now, peanut?”

Leo tiled his head, gazing at Finn’s eyes behind his glasses. “Yeah. Yeah, thank you. I love you.” He turned to Logan. “I love you both.”

Logan just hummed and laid his head on Leo’s shoulder for a brief moment before Leo squeezed his hip and moved to place him on the counter, parting with a kiss. Finn replaced Leo between Logan’s legs, his back to Logan’s chest and Logan’s arms around his waist, hands clasped in the front. It made Leo’s heart jolt to see them together like that again in their kitchen.

Logan peeked out at him over Finn’s shoulder. “What did you make?”

Leo smiled. “Butternut squash soup. I’ll toast the bread in the oven, too, I made sourdough. Even made a design, see?”

He picked up the loaf and showed it to them. Both Finn and Logan hovered their fingers over the crust, eyes going to the three birds. Finn looked up first, grinning. “Aw, you cut us into bread.”

“Scored, sweetheart.”

“I don’t know about bread scoring, but you can score tonight if you want, peanut.” Finn’s eyes sparkled, then his nose crinkled. “Butternut. You’re our very own butternut squash!”

Logan snorted quietly, pressing a burst of kisses to Finn’s neck. Finn just smiled sharply at Leo, who was shaking his head in fondness. “I try and do something sentimental, and this is what I get.” He kissed Finn’s cheek. “You’re all trouble.”

Finn just winked at him.

“I like them, soleil,” Logan interrupted, reaching out to bring Leo’s face to his to kiss him. “Les trois oiseaux.”

Leo smiled. “Oui.”

“You know, French is a lot sexier when you're saying it in my ear, I gotta say.”

Logan smacked Finn’s hip lightly and Leo leaned back, laughing. As he heated the oven up and sliced the bread, he couldn’t bring himself to slice through the three birds. He smiled down at them as he listened to Logan and Finn’s bickering, at the feel of Finn’s hands on his hips, Logan’s warm body at his side watching his hands work the knife. He would freeze that section, he decided, and take it out and toast it on another cold day.

Because today… today he was warm.

Hi! I just lost my 13yo dog and been so down, but trying to think about all the amazing times we went through. Made me wonder about the cubs adopting a rescue dog, or even better, Logan maybe gifting Leo said dog, or something like it, dont know, just wanted something very lovely and cute. Thanks

Hi friend,

I am so so so sorry for your loss. Dogs love unconditionally like nobody else can, and I imagine it must be so hard right now. However, they are some of the greatest gifts life has to offer, even if their time on Earth is much more limited than ours. They bring so much joy and happiness, and I hope you can find that in the memories you carry of your sweet baby. <3

Have some sunshine being a sweet dog-whisperer and Logan and Finn wanting to surprise the very best husband they could ever ask for.

Sending lots of love your way!!

Logan laced his fingers through Leo’s as they walked along the path through the park, stepping aside every now and then to let bikers and runners pass by. Leo’s skin was tan from the summer sun and matched beautifully with the gold rings on his fingers. Logan brought his hand to his mouth and kissed it, then turned to look up at him. They were discussing where they wanted to go for dinner. “What do you want to do tonight, soleil?”

Leo shrugged. “Don’t know. Could ask Finn, he was talking about this new place that opened up in the center of the city. Or we could go to that café we like for an early dinner, then go for a walk by the water. It’s a nice day.”

“Mm,” Logan hummed distractedly. He stopped abruptly and bent down. When he stood to give Leo the flower he picked, small and yellow, he smiled. “Allez. For you.”

Leo smiled back. “Thanks, honey.” He kissed Logan’s forehead. “I love it.”

Logan was leaning up for another kiss when he felt something cold sniff his ankle. He pulled away and looked down. “Quoi?”

The dog had moved on to Leo now. It was medium sized, with long, triangle ears and a boxy face. It’s entire body wiggled as it looked up at Leo and stuck its tongue out in a smile.

“Sassy!” a woman said. She gave the dog a tug by its leash and smiled sheepishly. “Sorry, sorry, she’s not leash trained quite yet.”

“That’s alright,” Leo said. He looked up at her. “Can I pet her?”

“Yeah, yeah, of course.”

Leo grinned and bent a bit to let Sassy sniff his hand, and when she licked it, he crouched fully to scratch behind her ears. He laughed when she made a content little grunting sound. “You’re so pretty! Look at you, baby.”

Logan smiled fondly then looked up at the woman. “What breed is she?”

She shrugged. “We’re not entirely sure. We think a pitbull-coonhound mix. I’m not her owner, I’m just taking her for a walk. I volunteer at Gryffindor Shelter on Lavelle Street.”

Logan tilted his head. “So she’s not adopted?”

“No. A group of us take the dogs for walks every week so they get used to it. Helps to socialize them a bit.”

“That’s awesome,” Leo chided in. Sassy now had her paws on his bent knees and was wiggling happily as he continued to scratch her ears. “You’re a very sweet girl.”

Logan took in Leo’s smile and bright blue eyes. They had talked about getting a dog before, in theory. Leo always joked that Finn basically was their dog and that they needed to run him, but Logan knew he wanted the real thing. He loved whenever the Lions did charity work or photoshoots with rescue dogs. Finn and Logan had shared knowing glances many times over the years as they watched every single dog, old and young, big and small, fall in love with Leo the second they met him.

Suddenly, there was a warm body behind him and a wet, slightly sweaty, kiss was pressed to his cheek. “‘Sup, hubs.”

Logan turned and caught Finn’s eye. “Salut. Good run?”

Finn nodded eagerly, bouncing on his toes. “Oo-ways. Two more miles left.” He noticed Leo on the ground and the women holding the leash and smiled. “Hi! Who’s this?”

The woman smiled. “This is Sassy. She’s at Gryffindor Shelter, I’m breaking her out of jail for the day.”

Finn crouched down and held out his hand. “Aren’t you a sweet little girl!” He laughed when she came to lick his wrist, then Logan’s ankle, before going straight back to seek attention from Leo. “Damn, okay, I see how it is.”

The lady winked at him. “Seems she found a friend.”

“Looks like. She’s very pretty.”

The woman nodded. “She is.” She checked her watch briefly, then tugged on the leash. “Let’s go, Sassy girl, gotta get you back.” She looked up at the three of them. “Nice to meet you…?”

“I’m Finn,” Finn said. “And this is Logan and Leo.” He gestured accordingly with a tilt of his head. “And you?”

“Melanie.”

Finn turned on one of his signature grins. “Well, Melanie, thanks for sharing Sassy with us. And taking her for walkies, I’m sure the shelter must be boring for her.”

Melanie smiled. “My pleasure.” She gave the leash another tug. “Let’s go, Sass!”

Sassy let out a whining sound before resisting just enough to give Leo’s forearm another lick and receive one last scratch before she was being led away down the path. Leo watched her go with a small smile on his face for a moment. Just enough time, really, for Finn and Logan to share a meaningful look. Logan grinned and turned to Leo, holding out his hand. “Ici, soleil, let’s finish our walk.”

Leo let out a sigh. “Okay.” He took Logan’s hand and stood. “She was really cute.”

“She was, baby,” Finn agreed, kissing his cheek. “I’ll meet you at the fountain in a few, okay? Love you.”

Leo nodded. “Love you.”

Finn jogged backwards for a moment, making a heart with his hands, before winking and turning to run ahead. Logan stood on his toes and kissed Leo on the cheek. “You look very pretty in the sun.”

Leo rolled his eyes good naturedly, but he turned his face to brush their noses together. He still had the yellow flower between his fingers. “I love you.”

“Je t’aime.” Logan kissed him on the mouth, then squeezed his hand. “Allez, or our oversized puppy will get impatient waiting for us at the fountain.”

Leo laughed and let Logan pull him along the path.

Two weeks later

It took a lot of planning, and insisting Leo go out with Regulus one day while they had a secret house inspection, but Logan had done it. Well, really, he and Finn had done it, but he liked to credit himself for the idea, at least. They had told Leo they were going out to get fertilizer for his herb garden, which they did actually do- the store just so happened to have all necessary dog accessories, and was a three minute drive from Gryffindor Shelter on Lavelle Street.

“Are you excited, Sassy girl?” Finn cooed from the front seat as he parked. He turned to scratch her behind the ears, and patted Logan, who was sitting in the back with her, on the head. “Your daddy’s gonna be so happy!”

She let out a whine and a short bark, her entire body vibrating with energy. Logan clipped the leash they had got her around her collar and gingerly opened the door. “Allez, ma petite, careful.”

Sassy paid him no mind and leapt out of the car after him, nose in the air and twitching like a bunny’s with soft huffs. Finn chirped the car and went to open the door leading from the garage to the lower lobby and the elevator.

“Wanna bring the other stuff up later?”

“Ouais,” Logan said, gripping tightly to the leash as Sassy pulled in her excitement. “I want Le to see her first.”

Finn made a happy sound in the back of his throat. “I can’t wait, he’s gonna be so excited.” He turned to look at Logan as they stepped through the elevator door and kissed him. “You’re a good husband.”

Logan smiled against his mouth. “Toi aussi, mon rouge.” He bent to rub Sassy’s side. “She’s very happy.”

“Wiggly little thing, huh?” Finn crouched to give her a kiss on the forehead, which just made her wag her tail even harder. “Gonna have to take you on runs to get your energy out. Yes I am!”

Logan ran a hand fondly through Finn’s hair just as the elevator door opened. Sassy immediately dragged Logan out, nose to the ground as she scurried her way down the hallway. Finn laughed and went to unlock the door. “Hold her here for a second, ‘kay?”

“D’accord,” Logan replied, crouching to hold Sassy around her chest.

Finn touched Logan’s cheek, winked, then pushed the door open. “Sunshine! We’re home.”

“Hi, honey,” Logan heard Leo say. There was the sound of a brief kiss. “Where’s Lo?”

Logan could imagine Finn’s mischievous smile. “We’ve got a surprise for you.”

“What?”

“Lo, let her in!”

Logan stood and held onto Sassy’s leash and guided her into the apartment. Leo looked briefly confused, but his entire face changed when he saw her, breaking into a wide smile. Those bright eyes flashed to Logan’s face. “No.”

Logan nodded, a warm feeling working its way up his chest. “Ouais.”

Sassy whined, entire body vibrating, before Logan let her go. Leo crouched and she launched herself right into his lap, happy, high-pitched noises escaping her. Her paws were dancing on Leo’s legs as he cupped her face and scratched her ears. He was laughing and cooing at her. Logan and Finn and Logan shared a fond look.

“Hi, baby, hi!” Leo was saying. “Oh, you’re so beautiful.” He looked up at Finn and Logan, both dimples on full display. “She’s ours?”

The look Finn gave him was so in love Logan felt his heart speed up. “Yeah, sunshine. She’s ours.”

Leo laughed again and buried his face in Sassy’s neck. She had both of her paws on his shoulders and was sniffing by his ear. She had calmed down a bit, comforted by the warmth of Leo’s body. Logan could relate.

“Thank you,” Leo said softly. He tilted his chin up. “C’mere.”

Finn sat by his side and Logan kneeled in front of him. Leo leaned in to kiss them both softly, a hand supporting Sassy on her back. Finn wrapped one arm around Leo’s waist and Logan scratched Sassy’s side just beside Leo’s hand.

“She will need some training,” Logan said. He moved his hand up and flitted his fingers over Leo’s curls. He leaned into the touch. “But she needed a home, and she loves you, Le.”

“She’s perfect,” Finn said wistfully, head now on Leo’s shoulder. He reached out to rub Sassy’s ear between his thumb and forefinger. “Her ears are so soft.”

“Mm, like- how do you say it, soleil? Le velours?”

Leo smiled and peeked out at him. “Velvet. Yeah, they are.”

Sassy was wiggling again, excited and eager with all the hands petting her, and let out a happy little growling sound. Logan barked out a laugh. “Rouge, she sounds like you.”

Finn mimicked her happy growling sound and reached out with both hands to scratch behind her ears. She opened her mouth in a smile and talked back to him again. “Just like your dad, baby, did you hear that?”

Leo kissed her on the side of her head. “Okay, c’mon, baby girl, let’s show you the house.” He coaxed her off his lap and took her leash, leading her through the kitchen. “This is where all the yummy snacks are made. I’ll have to find some dog friendly recipes for you, sweetheart.” They continued on. “And this is the couch, it’s great for naps. I’ll make sure to get you a blanket.”

Leo continued chattering to her as he showed her the bedrooms and the hallway. Her nose was moving rapidly, the sounds of her sniffing making Logan let out an amused breath. He settled back on his heels as Finn came to sit beside him. He wrapped his arms around his shoulders and kissed his red waves. “Good surprise.”

“Good surprise,” Finn agreed. “He’s so happy. They both are.”

Logan hummed into Finn’s hair and breathed out a laugh as Leo’s voice continued to carry through their apartment, followed by a bark from Sassy. “I think we married a Disney character.”

“Oh, we definitely did. We could put him in the forest and he’d be friends with all the animals in an hour, probably.”

Logan smiled into Finn’s hair. “You’re so weird. I love you.”

Finn tilted his head and kissed him. “I love you, too.”

They turned to look as Leo walked back into the entryway with Sassy, who was now free from her leash. She saw them and trotted her way over, entire body wiggling, and nudged their hands. They both smiled and complied, scratching her side and ears. Leo stood over them, leash in one hand, his smile bright. Logan couldn’t tear his eyes away.

“Is her stuff in the car?” Leo asked. At the sound of his voice, Sassy turned around and went over to him again. He squatted to pet her.

“Yeah, but we’ll get it, baby,” Finn said. He stood, then held out a hand for Logan. “You relax.”

“You sure? I can help-”

“Non.” Logan bent and cupped his face to kiss him quickly. “Stay here, mon coeur. We’ll be back.”

Later that evening, after the three of them had taken Sassy for a long walk around her new neighborhood, Finn and Logan arrived from picking up their Thai take out for dinner to find Leo fast asleep on his back on the couch. Sassy was a heavy weight on his chest, limbs splayed out as she softly snored. One of her ears was flipped inside-out. Leo’s arms were wrapped gently around her to keep her from falling.

Finn sneakily took a photo. “New lockscreen.”

Logan rested his chin on his shoulder. “Send it to me, please?”

“Already done, baby.” He kissed the side of Logan’s head. “They’re so cute.”

Logan bent to kneel beside the couch and kissed Leo’s forehead, brushing his hair back. “Mon amour. Mon mari. Dinner.”

Leo took a deep breath in and blinked slowly. He smiled sleepily. “Hi.” His arms tightened around Sassy. She let out a content sound and opened her eyes, too. “Sorry, we were just taking a nap.”

Logan shook his head. “Non, don’t be sorry.” He nudged their noses together. “You were very cute.” He felt a paw pat his forearm and he turned to Sassy. “You, too, ma petite.” He kissed her between her eyes and she let out a satisfied sigh.

Leo scratched her back. “Up, sweetheart, it’s supper time.” He laughed as Sassy let out a groan and stretched her back legs and yawned. “Oh, big stretch and big yawn, wow.”

Sassy hopped off the couch and shook, her lips and ears making a flapping sound. She trotted over to greet Finn and sniffed eagerly at the bags he was still holding. “Ah-ah, none for you. Yet. Maybe some chicken.”

Leo tisked. “Spices aren’t good for dogs, they upset their tummies.” He walked over and rested a hand on Finn’s lower back and leaned in for a kiss. “Hi. Thanks for getting dinner.”

“You’re welcome, sunshine.” Finn opened the takeout bags on their counter and began to unload them. Sassy sat obediently and looked up at him, ears perked up. Finn looked at her, then at Leo with his very own pleading puppy dog eyes. “Are you sure she can’t-”

“No. But we can cut her up some cucumbers and you can give them to her, how’s that?”

Finn smiled and nodded. “That sounds good.” He bent to touch his and Sassy’s foreheads together and kissed her nose. “You’re just so cute!”

She barked and wagged her tail happily. Leo looked down at her proudly, then caught Logan looking at him. “You okay, sweetheart?”

Logan nodded. “Ouais,” he said, going up to wrap his arms around Leo’s ribs. “Just love you.”

Leo kissed the top of his head. “I love you, too.” He bent to wrap his hands under Logan’s thighs and pick him up. His dimples were there again. “You got me a dog.”

Logan scratched a hand through his hair and tightened his legs around his waist. “I did.”

“We.”

“It was my idea!”

Leo rolled his eyes fondly and kissed Logan on the mouth. “Well, thank you both. She’s perfect.”

Logan kissed him again. “You’re perfect.”

Leo just grinned and set him down again. “C’mon, let’s get the plates. Then I gotta give Sassy her dinner.” Logan scratched Sassy, who was still watching Finn open the take out containers with rapt attention, on the head, letting the warm feeling of family fill him up as he went to get the silverware.

did you maybe get any inspo for a cubs hiking or camping fic while on your trip👀👀

Have some Cubs fun in the evergreen Canadian forest! (And some contemplative Tremzy)

“Honey, slow down, we’re almost ready.”

“But I’m excited, peanut!” Finn bounced on his toes. “I’m so fucking ready.”

Logan shook his head and grabbed a small white bottle from his bag. “Non, you’re not, ici.”

Finn dutifully stood still as Logan rubbed sunscreen over his face, finishing with a gentle pass of his fingers on Finn’s cheeks. Logan kissed where his fingers had been and stood back down on his heels. “Bien. Okay, let’s go.”

Finn spun around and began walking quickly toward the trailhead, whistling as he went. Leo and Logan stood and watched him for a second before looking at each other with amused smiles.

“Do you think we should just let him run ahead?” Leo asked as he took Logan’s hand.

Logan shrugged. “Maybe. But then it’s not a date.”

“Honey, we’re basically dating a puppy, we’ve gotta let him run.”

Logan laughed and leaned into Leo’s side for a brief moment. Leo winked and kissed the side of his head before letting go of his hand. “C’mon. I have a feeling this hike isn’t going to be a lovely stroll with him around.”

They met Finn where he was waiting by the trailhead, greeting another group of hikers in broken, enthusiastic French. Logan and Leo said a polite ‘salut’ as well before they turned to Finn. He was grinning at them proudly, hands looped through the straps of his backpack like a little kid going to school. It made Logan’s heart melt just a little to see him there, in the Canadian forests he’d loved as a child, as a teenager, as a yearning and confused college student. It warmed Logan even further when Leo stepped into his sightline as well. He was so comfortable here, with his charming self and his perfect French. Logan could tell it made him happy when people were impressed and asked where he was from. He would answer them with a proud and slightly sheepish smile, and Logan could watch forever as his eyes lit up thinking of New Orleans.

Leo snapped one of the straps of Finn’s backpack. “Slow down there, speedy. Your boyfriends need to catch up with you.”

Finn just looked up at him gleefully. “I’m just so excited.” He turned Leo around and nudged him forward. “I think you should go first.”

“What?” Leo said, tripping slightly over a root as he began to walk up the sloped trail. “Why? You’re way faster.”

Finn shrugged. “No reason.” He reached for Logan as well. “You, too, baby.”

Logan shook his head at Finn fondly. “I know what you’re doing.”

Finn’s grin was the lovely and mischievous one Logan adored. “I know you know.” He nudged his chin towards Leo. “But he doesn’t.”

Logan turned to look at Leo, who was now a little further up the trail, and ran his eyes up and down his long, lean body. He smiled. “Si beau.”

“Mhm.” Finn leaned around to press a quick kiss to his cheek. “C’mon, can’t let sunshine get too far ahead.”

They followed Leo up the trail. Despite his long legs, he didn’t hike particularly fast. He liked to take in the nature around him and stooped to touch moss or examine leaves frequently. Every now and then, too, he’d hum when he found a particularly interesting leaf. He’d even brought the identification book Logan had got him at a local shop in Rimouski, with all of the local flora and fauna. Leo smiled every time he found a match and nodded satisfactorily. Logan found it incredibly adorable.

After the fifth time they’d stopped to examine a leaf, Leo sighed on a steep section and turned to look at Finn. “Are you sure you don’t want to go ahead, sweetheart? You’ll be able to move a lot faster.”

Finn shook his head fondly. “No, baby, I want to walk with you.” His eyes turned playful. “Plus, walking behind you has its advantages.”

Leo looked confused for a second, eyes narrowed, before he rolled them with a blushing grin. “You’re staring at my ass, aren’t you?”

“Oh, absolutely. And Lo’s.” He emphasized his statement with a loving pat on Logan’s butt. “I gotta say, it’s a nice view.”

Logan laughed. “The view is at the top!”

“That view’s overrated. I prefer this one.”

Logan couldn’t take it anymore. He turned and planted a kiss right on Finn’s lips. They were both sweaty in the humid August heat, but Logan still loved the smell of him, all mixed up with the scents of the woods. He pulled away after a moment and flicked Finn’s cheek gently. “You’re so weird.”

“And yet, you love me.” He gave Logan’s butt one more soft pat, then looked up the trail at Leo, who had bent to look at something on a rock. “You ready sunshine?” he called.

“Look, I found a newt!” A pause. “Oh, he’s so cute, come see!”

Finn caught Logan’s eye. “We’re looking at a cute newt right now, actually.”

Leo just shook his head, but Logan could see his cheeks were red. “No, I’m serious, come see!”

Logan and Finn looked at each other, smiling widely before answering Leo’s call.

Their hike continued as such. Leo would stop every now and then to look at something interesting he found, and Logan and Finn would listen as he murmured under his breath while he flipped through the tiny book. Eventually, they reached where they could see the top, and Finn bounded ahead, pressing smacking kisses to their cheeks on the way. By the time they got there, Leo and Logan found him sitting on a rock, bag of trail mix already in hand munching while looking at the view. When they turned around, he smiled widely. “Oh, look! The view has arrived!”

Leo laughed and went to sit beside him, snatching some trail mix for himself. While they were talking, Logan took a look at the view. He’d been up here dozens of times: with his sisters, his parents, his high school friends. It was a beautiful view, all rolling evergreen hills and endless sky, even so close to the city. The air was fresh and crisp, and he inhaled against the memories.

There was one summer weekend in college he came up here with his former high school teammates, all slightly hungover from a reunion party in late May, to watch the sunrise. He remembered some of them had brought their college girlfriends with them. Logan and a boy named Riley, who he hadn’t been close with but was nice enough, had been the only ones without girlfriends. Someone made a joke, saying they should kiss, and Riley had been so nervous red had shone through on his brown cheeks. Logan had told them to knock it off, giving his teammate a nudge, and that was that. But Logan had been hoping they couldn’t hear how fast his breathing was, how his heart had been about to pump out of his chest. In that moment, his gaze had landed on one of his teammate’s girlfriends, who had bright red hair and lots of freckles. He had to excuse himself to go lie down on a rock, alone.

He felt two arms wrap around him, and two hands appeared to unclasp the buckles on his backpack and ease the straps off his shoulders. “You okay, sweetheart?”

Logan nodded. “Ouais. Just- thinking.”

Leo hummed. He set Logan’s bag down and rested his hands on Logan’s hips. “You wanna talk about it?”

“Non, mon amour, not right now. I’ll tell you later.”

“Okay.” Leo kissed his shoulder. “You hungry, honey? I made us BLTs with that homemade mayo sauce you like.”

Logan smiled. He wrapped Leo’s arms fully around himself. “Ouais, merci. Sounds good.”

Leo squeezed him tightly before letting go to lead him over to where Finn was watching them. He had his phone out and was looking at something. “Look,” he said, showing it to them. “Got my new lockscreen.”

Logan bent down to peek at it and smiled. Leo really was much taller than him; Logan never noticed that he had to look up that much to smile at him. “Can you send it to me, please, rouge?”

“Already did, babe.” Finn chucked his phone down onto his bag and reclined a bit with a sigh. “This is the life, man.”

“Glad you like it, sweetheart,” Leo said. He was shuffling through his own backpack. “You hungry? Want a sandwich?”

Finn squinted at him in the bright sun. “You’re so cute, always making sure we’re well fed.”

“Well, we just exercised for two hours in the sun! I just don’t want you to get dizzy on the way down or-”

Finn just cupped his face and interrupted him with a kiss. “It’s a good thing, baby. I’d love one of your BLTs.”

Leo nodded, a little grin on his face. “That’s what I thought.”

They ate their sandwiches under a shaded section of rocks at Leo’s insistence, facing the view as the sun began to dip just past noon. Finn sat through Logan rubbing more sunscreen on him before he waggled his eyebrows and pulled a bag of M&Ms out of his backpack. “Peanut M&Ms for you, peanut!”

The colored sugar dyed their tongues different colors. Finn only ate the green ones in an attempt to ‘become a leprechaun’, as he so called it, which left Leo and Logan with a myriad selection. Logan let the sweetness settle over his tongue, followed by the crunchiness of the peanut, for a moment. He watched as Finn insisted Leo throw one into his mouth. Finn caught it, to no one’s surprise, and he leaned over Logan’s head to press a smacking kiss to Leo’s cheek in victory. When his eyes landed on Logan, they were contemplative. “What’s up, Lolo?”

Logan shrugged. “Just thinking.”

“Yikes, you feeling okay?”

Logan tried to look unimpressed. “That is getting old.” He leaned into Leo’s thigh that was touching his own. A sigh escaped him. “I once came up here during summer in college. With my high school teammates.”

“Oh?” Leo’s eyes were questioning, but he was still smiling for Logan. “Did you have fun?”

“Ouais, I guess.” Logan looked out at the view. How could something once so normal to him feel so uncomfortable now? “We all got drunk at a party, then decided to climb up for the sunrise. I don’t know why, it was awful. We were so hungover.”

Leo laughed. “You know, sometimes I forget you both had a wild side.”

“Had?” Finn looked offended. “We’re still perfectly wild.”

“What, with your nine-thirty read-aloud story time?”

“You love story time!” Finn scooched over and threw his right leg over Logan’s, leaning in to pinch Leo’s bicep. “And you’re wild too, peanut.”

Leo snorted. “In the kitchen, maybe.”

“In other places, too,” Finn replied with a sharp grin.

That made Logan take in a sharp breath. The memory of what his teammates said to him throbbed against his skull like it was trying to escape. Everything he felt back then, the yearning, the want, the shame, suddenly felt so close he could taste it. He wondered if this weight on his chest would ever lift, if he would ever stop being surprised and in awe of the beautiful life he got to live with Leo and Finn. He both wanted it gone and wanted it to press down against him harder, until all he could do was sink into the feeling of their bodies around him.

“Lo?” Leo asked, dipping his head to whisper in Logan’s ear. “You okay sweetheart?”

“Ouais,” Logan said. He cleared his throat. “Ouais, it’s just… mais, the day, when I came up here with my teammates?” He looked for their confirming nods before continuing. “Everyone came with girlfriends. Except me and another guy. Some of the others- well…”

Finn’s face suddenly appeared in his sightline. Logan was so grateful they were the only ones at the top. “They… implied some not nice things about us. Said we should’ve done some stuff together.” He heard Leo suck in a breath from beside him. Finn’s eyes bored into his own. “And then one of my teammates had a girlfriend with red hair. And freckles.”

Finn, for once, didn’t say anything. He just cupped the back of Logan’s head and brought it to his shoulder, holding him there. He smelled like sweat, and summer air, and Finn, and Logan gripped his hip as he breathed him in. Finn kissed the side of his head, letting his lips rest there, and Logan felt something in himself begin to heal.

“Lo,” Leo said softly. “Oh, honey, I’m so sorry.”

Logan ducked his nose into Finn’s neckline one more time before sitting up. “Non, non it’s okay. I mean, it’s not okay, what they said, but I am. I’m okay.” He turned to face Leo and kissed him softly. “I’m so good.”

“Good,” Leo whispered against his mouth. “That makes me happy.”

Logan smiled. “Ouais.” He pulled back to look at Leo. “Are you happy?”

Leo softened. The light reflected off his curls and his white teeth as he smiled. He was beautiful always, but especially when he looked at Logan like that. Like he was his. “Yeah.”

“Bien.” He turned his body slightly to settle with his back to Leo’s chest, grinning as Leo let out an amused laugh. Logan reached his hand out to tangle his fingers with Finn’s. “Are you happy?”

Finn’s brown eyes were golden in the summer sun. He looked like a figment of every one of younger Logan’s dreams. “More and more every day.”

“Bien,” Logan said again. He kissed Finn’s fingers then caught his eye with a challenging look. “Race you down.” Then he grabbed the trash leftover from their lunch, stuffed it in his bag, and stood to begin jogging down the trail.

“Oh no you don’t, ten!”

“Will you two please be careful? I don’t want you to fall!”

Logan smiled as their laughter and footsteps followed him. He spared one look behind him to catch the view and his boys against it before picking up his pace and running down the mountain.

You ever think abt how good Leo’s gaydar was? He really clocked Logan and Finn being in love. At the same time it makes me think abt how after Logan almost kissed him and Finn did kiss him he probably thought they were both just sad and missing each other and was full prepared to back off and be alone and let them have each other :(((( thank GOODNESS that’s not what happened tho

Thank GOODNESS!!

All credits to @lumosinlove !!

Leo closed the door to his bedroom behind him, thunking his head back against the wood with a sigh. He swallowed, closing his eyes and trying to control his breathing. His sweater stuck to his neck with a light layer of sweat.

“Fuck,” he whispered. He sucked in a breath and rubbed his hands over his face. “Fuck.”

He didn't know what had gotten into him. God, what was he doing? What was he doing, thinking about them like that? At the way Logan looked late at night on roadies, boxing himself in with blankets and pillows, nose in his sweatshirt and his eyes peeking out like some soft, cozy figment out of Leo's dreams; the way Finn always had a smile for him, rubbing Leo's ankles when they were sore and raving about how much he loved the food Leo cooked for him. And now, Logan almost kissing him- twice- and Finn watching them walk away, hand in June's but his eyes following Logan, and Leo didn't understand. He didn't understand the way that Finn's eyes also followed him, the way Logan's eyes followed the both of them- and he certainly didn't understand why it made him feel so warm, why it made his breath jump and heat pool at the base of his stomach.

He groaned softly into his skin. He couldn't do this. He couldn't get in the way of whatever Logan and Finn weren't saying to each other. It was written all over their faces, but maybe that was half the problem. Everything was written on their faces for Leo and it drove him crazy. Crazy with frustration or crazy with want, he didn't know. Maybe they were one and the same.

From where he was against the door he could hear footsteps approaching in the hallway, muffled slightly through the wood. Finn’s knock sent vibrations down his back. “Leo? Nutty, you there?”

“Yeah,” Leo replied. He wiped his face one more time and turned to open the door. Finn looked so handsome in his dark blue pants and red sweater, glasses perched on his face. He would never admit it, but Leo thought Finn looked exactly how an English professor should look. That image did nothing to quell the confusing desire swirling around in his heart.

Finn smiled at him gently. “Hey. You have fun at Dumo’s party?”

Leo tried for a smile back, but he knew it was shaky. “Yeah. Food was good. You? Did June enjoy herself?”

Finn looked taken aback, his smile faltering slightly. “Yeah, uh… yeah, she did, I think.”

“Good,” Leo said, looking down briefly, chewing the inside of his cheek. He couldn't look Finn in the eye. “She's nice.”

Finn’s expression was conflicted. “Yeah, yeah, she is.” He took a step forward. “Le, are you okay?”

Leo jerked his head up. He was going to sink to the floor if Finn continued to talk to him that gently. “Yes. Yes, I'm fine. Are you okay?”

Finn’s nod was hesitant. “Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay. Listen, is-” He winced slightly, biting his lip nervously. “Is Logan okay?”

Leo clenched his jaw. He couldn't think about Logan without thinking of how warm his body had been in the Dumais’ basement. How his breath fanned against Leo’s mouth, how his eyes had closed- how his lips looked, as if waiting for Leo to kiss them. Leo had wanted so badly in that moment that the ache still lingered. But he couldn't say that to Finn.

“Honestly,” Leo said. His voice was strained, even to his own ears. “Honestly, Finn, I don't know. I think- I think he had too much to drink, and he- I think he's a little lonely.”

Finn made a little broken sound in the back of his throat. “What?”

Leo nodded. “Or he feels- he feels lost.” Leo shrugged. “Maybe you should take him out to lunch over the break. Or invite him here, I can leave for a few hours.”

“No,” Finn said immediately, loud for the quiet room. He cleared his throat and lowered his tone. “No, no he'd want you there. I want you there, Le.”

Le. I want you there, Le.

Leo was so confused.

“Yeah,” he whispered. “That sounds good.”

“Okay.” Finn took another step towards him. “Do you want a cup of tea, peanut? Before bed?”

Leo shook his head. Finn was close enough that, if Leo wanted to, he could lean in and kiss him. “No. Thank you, but I'm kind of tired.” He forced a chuckle. “Think I ate too much.”

Finn let out a breathy laugh. “Celeste’s cooking will do that to you.”

He rocked back and forth a few times, then opened his arms to draw Leo into a hug. One hand pressed against the back of Leo’s neck, one underneath Leo’s other arm. Leo leaned into him, allowing himself a brief second to breathe in Finn’s scent and feel the soft fabric of his sweater against his neck. When they pulled away, Finn rested his hands on Leo’s ribs and bicep for a moment.

“I’m really glad you're here, Le,” he said. His eyes were like melted chocolate, so sweet and warm that Leo almost couldn't handle it. “Sleep well, okay?”

“Okay.” He reached behind himself to open his door. “G’night Harz.”

“Sleep tight, peanut.”

When Leo closed the door and sat on his soft mattress, warm lamp light glowing around him, he finally let the first tears fall.

***

“Hey, sweetheart,” Finn said. He put a hand on Leo's back and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to his cheek. “You need any help?”

Leo shook his head, brow furrowed as he peered through Celeste's spice rack. He'd just had the paprika, now where did he-?

“Le?”

“Hm?”

Finn laughed softly, kneading Leo’s waist gently. “You okay?”

“Yeah. Where is the- ah!” He snatched the glass bottle, shaking it into the two large pots in front of him. “Okay. Okay, now it’s just gotta simmer.” He turned to Finn, who was smiling. “What?”

“Nothing.” Finn nosed his jaw. “You’re just so cute.”

Leo rolled his eyes to the ceiling in amusement as Finn peppered kisses to his jaw and neck. Really, he was just smushing his face into Leo’s skin. His lips were wet, and Leo felt his tongue poke out.

“No!” Leo laughed. He tried to pull away, but Finn just held him closer. “No licking in the kitchen.” Finn bit at his jaw, and Leo felt himself unravel. “Finn.”

Finn finally did pull away, a satisfied grin on his face. “I love you.” He looked at the pots. “Christmas chili almost done?”

Leo nodded, gazing at Finn’s side profile. “Yeah.”

Finn’s glasses reflected the light of the kitchen, making his eyes look soft and warm behind the frames. He looked so good always, but especially in the winter, with his nice boots and the pants that hugged his thighs just right and his-

Leo unintentionally sucked in a breath. His sweaters. This sweater. The one he wore now, the same one he had worn that night that felt so far away, but really wasn’t. That night that had left Leo yearning for him, for Logan, in an acute way he’d never felt before.

Finn tilted his chin up to look at Leo. “You okay, Le?”

“Yeah, I-” He laughed at himself deprecatingly. “Sorry. You just- you look…”

Finn’s eyes were concerned. “I look…”

Leo sighed. “You remember Dumo’s first Christmas dinner I went to, my rookie season?”

Finn nodded, hand sneaking under Leo’s waffle shirt to rub his skin. “Yeah.”

Leo sighed. “You were wearing the same sweater.”

“Oh.” Finn turned Leo away from the stove to face him fully. “Le…”

Leo bit the inside of his cheek. “I thought you looked so gorgeous. And then Logan almost kissed me, but he obviously wanted you, and I didn’t understand.” Leo looked him squarely in the eye. “And then at- at home, you asked if he was okay, and I…” Leo touched their foreheads together, breathing deeply with his eyes closed. “I just cared about you both so badly that I couldn’t get in the way of you wanting each other.”

“Oh, sunshine.” Finn pressed a kiss to his cheek. “I’m so sorry.”

Leo pulled back, shaking his head. “Don’t be sorry. You just…” He looked Finn up and down. “You look like you did back then.” He smiled against the memory. “Except now you’re mine.”

“All yours, baby.” Finn kissed him hard. “But if you ever want to talk about it…”

Leo nodded, their noses brushing. “I’ll tell you. Promise.”

“Okay.” Finn wrapped him in a hug. “If it helps, I wanted you just as badly. And I was also very confused.”

Leo laughed, tucking his nose into Finn’s sweater. “I know you were.”

“Hey,” Finn protested. “I was pining over two very sexy men. I’m allowed to have a crisis over that.”

“You are.” He sighed into Finn’s shoulder. “I love you.”

“I love you so much, baby. So, so much.”

They stayed there for a few moments, swaying in the oddly deserted kitchen. There was laughter coming through the entrance to the living room, the voices of their teammates and their families carrying over the sound of the bubbling chili. Leo let his weight go in Finn’s arms, almost being lulled to sleep- until a heavy body fell against his back.

“Oof,” Finn said, stumbling a bit. “Careful, Tremblay.”

Leo laughed, shifting to open his arm so Logan could press against him. He pressed a quick kiss to his lips. “Hi, sweetheart. You okay?”

Logan’s smile was a little tipsy, his flushed cheeks scrunching. “Ouais.” He buried his face into Leo’s chest, the force of it making Leo stumble again.

“Oh, baby,” Finn said. He winked at Leo over Logan’s head. “Had something to drink?”

Logan grunted into Leo’s shirt. “Wine is so good.”

Finn barked out a laugh, cradling Logan in between them and ducking to kiss his neck. “When’s the last time you ate something?”

Logan shrugged, lifting his face up to look at Leo. “Breakfast?”

Leo whistled lowly. “No food before drinking?” He brushed a thumb over Logan’s slightly-tinted lips. “Honey, how many glasses did you have?”

“Je ne sais pas. Jackson just kept refilling my glass.”

“Oh no,” Finn said. He peppered Logan’s neck with kisses. “Gonna feel it in the morning.”

“Have some water, Lo,” Leo said, turning to reach for the cabinet with the glasses. He didn’t get very far, though, with Logan hanging off of him. He laughed. “Logan.”

“Peanut, don’t leave me!”

Logan groaned when Leo pulled away to fill it up with water, narrowing his eyes when Leo held it to his lips. He sipped it slowly, draining the whole glass, green eyes challenging. Leo bit his lip around a smile.

When the glass was empty, Logan gasped out a breath. “Happy, soleil?”

Leo set the glass down. “Very.” He cupped Logan’s face. “You need to eat something soon, sweetheart.”

Logan huffed, reaching up to wind his arms around Leo’s neck and pulling him into a hug. “Fish, ici.”

“I’m right here, ten.”

“Closer.”

“Okay, okay.” Finn pressed harder against Logan’s back. “Geez, you’re demanding when you’re drunk.”

“I’m not.”

Leo snorted into Logan’s hair. “You’re more than halfway there at least, sweetheart.” He kissed Logan’s forehead, then Finn’s where he was resting his chin on Logan’s shoulder. “Love you.”

“Je t’aime,” Logan sighed. He pulled back just enough to catch Leo’s eye. “What are we doing?”

“We’re cooking, sweetheart,” Leo said gently. “And reminiscing.”

“About what?”

Leo and Finn smiled at each other. Leo ducked his chin down to look at Logan again, brushing his hair out of his face. “About how much we want each other.”

“Mm,” Logan hummed. He sighed and pressed into Leo’s chest. “Tell me later. I’m too tipsy to talk now.”

“Yes you are,” Finn agreed.

“I want you, too,” Logan said. He sounded halfway asleep. “I love you.”

Leo kissed his forehead once more before turning him in Finn’s arms, despite his protests. Finn cooed at him. “Poor baby.”

“Soleil,” Logan whined. “Come back.”

“I gotta finish the chili, honey. I’ll snuggle you at home, don’t worry.”

Logan groaned. “That’s so long away.”

Finn laughed. “I don’t think that was proper English.”

Logan smacked at his hip. “I’ll show you proper English.”

“Lo, baby, that doesn’t even make sense.”

Leo left them to their quiet bickering as he stirred the chili. Their voices warmed him, Logan’s comebacks slightly slurred and nonsensical. He could tell Finn was trying to hold in his laughter as Logan became increasingly opinionated, arguing for the sake of arguing while also burrowing his face into Finn’s neck. Eventually, their chatter subsided, and Logan was back to being sleepily cradled in Finn’s arms. Leo tapped the spoon on the side of one of the pots, deeming the chili sufficiently simmered, and turned to face his boyfriends again. Finn smiled, walking Logan backwards until he fell into Leo’s arms with a grunt. He settled right down again, a content sigh falling from his lips.

“Ready, baby?” Finn asked.

Leo smiled. “Ready.” He kissed Finn briefly, then Logan’s cheek. “Let’s call ‘em in for supper.”
